Abstract
Un procedimiento industrial para la fabricación de electrodos de carbono (artefactos) comprende las etapas de (a) mezclar brea con elevada temperatura de fusión con un punto de reblandecimiento Mettler (SPM) por encima de 150ºC con un sólido carbonáceo a una temperatura de 50ºC hasta 120ºC por encima del SPM de la brea, mediante prensado o compactado por vibración o extrusión sin enfriamiento intencional a una temperatura próxima a la temperatura de mezclado, (b) transferir los artefactos a un horno de carbonización sin enfriamiento intencionado, (c) carbonizar los artefactos, no necesitando dicho procedimiento enfriar la brea/pasta de coque después del mezclado y/o el electrodo verde después de la formación, y de este modo, el calor atrapado en el electrodo verde puede conservarse y reduce el consumo de energía total y el tiempo de residencia en una etapa de carbonización posterior.
