Abstract

Un método y un aparato para dar soporte a una llamada de emergencia en una red inalámbrica de un área metropolitana (RIAM) son expuestos. Una unidad inalámbrica de transmision/recepcion (UITR) envía un mensaje de llamada de emergencia a una estacion de base de la RIAM, para hacer una llamada de emergencia conjuntamente con una indicacion de la llamada de emergencia. La estacion de base entonces admite la llamada de emergencia con o sin la realizacion de un procedimiento de seguridad y conecta la UITR a un centro de llamadas de emergencia. La estacion de base y la UITR pueden comunicar informacion acerca de la capacidad en relacion al soporte para las llamadas de emergencia. La informacion de la locacion de la UITR también es enviada al centro de llamadas de emergencia. La estacion de base puede trabajar como un sustituto para la UITR, en caso de que la UITR no tenga todas las funcionalidades requeridas para completar la llamada de emergencia. La UITR puede ser una UITR multi modal capaz de comunicarse con dos o más redes de acceso de radio (RARs).
