Abstract
En la presente se mejora el proceso de producción de 1,3-propanodiol en el que se forma una solución acuosa de 3-hidroxi propanal, si se utiliza en dicha formación catalizador, se remueve de la solución y se anade hidróxido de sodio a la misma para neutralizar cualquier ácido presente de modo tal que el pH sea al menos de 5, se somete la solución acuosa neutralizada a hidrogenación para producir una mezcla de 1,3-propanodiol que se destila para producir 1,3-propanodiol, agua, y los compuestos reactivos de alto peso molecular. Mejorar este proceso incluye reemplazar el hidróxido de sodio con el hidróxido seleccionado de hidróxido de amonio, hidróxidos de metales alcalinos que no sean hidróxido de sodio, e hidróxidos de metales alcalinos térreos para reducir la viscosidad de los compuestos reactivos de alto peso molecular.
