Abstract

Aparato y método para inspeccionar un envase (12). El aparato incluye una primera fuente lumínica (14) para generar energía lumínica de un primer caráctery dirigir la energía lumínica sobre una porcion (20) predeterminada de un envase que se estáins peccionando, y una segunda fuente lumínica (22) para generarenergía lumínica de un segundo carácter diferente al primer carácter y dirigir tal energía lumínica sobre la misma porcion predeterminada del envase que seestá inspeccionando. Unconjunto se nsor de área de luz (26) está dispuesto para recibir una imagen bidimensional de la porcion del envase iluminada por dichaprimera fuente lumínica y dicha segunda fuente lumínica. La primera fuente lumínica y la segunda fuente lumínicason comandadas estroboscopicamentesecuencialmente y alternadamente, y la primera imagen bidimensional y la segunda imagen bidimensional de la porcion de envase que se está inspeccionando sontransferidas del sensor. Las variaciones comerciales queafectan las propie dades opticas de los envases son identificadas comparando la primera imagenbidimensional y la segunda imagen bidimensional provenientes de las respectivas fuentes lumínicas exploradas desde el sensor.Preferentemente, el sensorincluyedisposiciones ( 44, 46, 48) para explorar imagenes bidimensionales en cuadros secuenciales, y la primera imagen y la segunda imagen se obtienen explorandocuadros secuenciales provenientes del sensor durante los cuales la primera fuentelumínica y la segunda fuente l umínica se comandan estroboscopicamente demanera alternada.
