Abstract
Un aparato separador que posee una cinta transportadora o mecanismo equivalente para mover partículas a velocidad suficiente como para generar unacorriente de partículas en el aire, dichas partículas pueden clasificarse de modo tal quepue da retirarse el material seleccionado. La clasificacion oseparacion es efectuada por un sistema de barrido primario para analizar la luz reflejada desde las partículas en la corriente en una pluralidad de rangos delongitud de onda. Corrienteabajo de l sistema de barrido se colocan ejectores para retirar partículas de la corriente y se los ordena en respuesta a senalesrecibidas desde el sistema de barrido. También se incluye un sistema de barrido auxiliar para determinar la presenciade materia l de la corriente y, en casoque se detecte un vacío en una region dada, se inhiben el análisis de esa region por el sistema de barrido primario y cualquier activacioncorrespondiente de los eyectores. Si el sistema de barridoauxiliar opera sobr e la base de luz transmitida en la longitud de onda infrarrojo, el sistema debarrido puede distinguir entre una situacion en la cual está recibiendo luz reflejada desde una parte de producto en una corriente de producto y unaluztransmitida, a tr avés del sendero de la corriente de producto en ausencia de una parte de producto en ese lugar. Por este medio, el monitoreo de la luzrecibida desde el sendero de la corriente de producto en el rango infrarrojo puedeusarse para todas las funci ones.
