Abstract
La presente invencion describe la utilizacion de un clon ADNc para construir genes sentido y antisentido para la inhibicion de la actividadenzimatica de la enzima ramificadora del almidon en maiz. Mas especificamente, esta invencion serela ciona con un metodo para controlar la estructura fina delalmidon derivado de granos de maiz que comprende: (1) preparar de un gen quimerico que comprende un fragmento de acido nucleico que codifica un genestructural de la enzimaramificadora d el almidon o un fragmento del mismo, ligado operativamente con orientacion sentido o antisentido hacia el lado encontracorriente respecto a un fragmento de acido nucleico que codifica un promotor que dirige la expresiongenica en el tejido del endosperma en maiz, yligado operativamente hacia el lado corriente abajo con relacion a un fragmento de acido nucleico que codifica una secuencia reguladora adecuada para laterminacion de la transcripcion, y (2) transformardel maiz con dicho gen quimerico, donde la expresion de dicho gen quimerico da como resultado unaalteracion de la estructura fina del almidon derivado del grano de dicho maiz transformado en comparacion con la estructura fina del almidon derivadode maizque no pos ee dicho gen quimerico.
