Abstract

Una carga de aromáticos pesados se convierte a productos aromáticos más livianos, tales como benceno, tolueno y xilenos mediante el contacto de unafracción de aromáticos C9+ y benceno y/o tolueno sobre un catalizador que comprende unazeoli ta tal como ZSM-12 y un componente de hidrogenaciónpreferentemente platino. El catalizador, completo con el componente de hidrogenación se trata para reducir la pérdida de aromáticos. El tratamientoincluye exposición al vapor y/oazufre desp ués de la incorporación del componente de hidrogenación. Para estabilidad adicional y retención dearomáticos, el catalizador tratado con vapor y/o azufre es sometido a sulfuración mediante la coalimentación de unafuente de azufre. Preferentementese emplea una baja presión parcial de hidrógeno para ayudar a la retención de aromáticos.
