Abstract
熱アシスト磁気記録に使用するに適した磁気ディスク、磁気ディスク基板、磁気ディスク基板の使用及び磁気ディスクの製造方法を提供する。 本開示は、磁気ディスクであって、一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する基板と、前記基板の前記一対の主表面及び外周端面に、L10構造を有する磁性層と、を有し、前記磁気ディスクを下記加熱条件で加熱した後、下記測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である、磁気ディスク。 (加熱条件)磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるまで加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱し、さらにその後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却する。 (真直度の測定条件)120度向きが異なる3方向で、表面粗さ測定機にて、少なくとも長さ88mmの測定範囲で最大谷深さSvの値を測定し、前記最大谷深さSvの数平均値を真直度の値として求める。
Description
本開示は、磁気ディスク、磁気ディスク基板、磁気ディスク基板の使用及び磁気ディスクの製造方法に関する。
近年のコンピュータ技術の発展に伴い、より大記憶容量、且つ、省スペースの磁気記録装置が求められ、より高い記録密度を有する記録媒体が求められている。これを実現するために結晶磁気異方性Kuの大きな強磁性材料を用いることが好ましく、L10の規則構造を有するFePtが注目されている。FePtは、高い磁気異方性を有するので、4nmまで粒子径を小さくすることが可能である。しかし、微粒子サイズを小さくすると同時に、磁化反転磁場が3T以上の大きな値となり、書き込み用の磁気ヘッドが発生できる磁場(約1T)を上回り、現行の記録方式では書き込みができない。この問題を解決する新しい磁気記録方式として、書き込みの時のみ局所的に媒体をキュリー点(強磁性が消滅する温度)近くまで温度を上げ、書き込みを行う熱アシスト磁気記録(Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording, HAMR)が提案されている(例えば、特許文献1)。
L10構造を有する磁性層を磁気ディスク基板上に形成するためには、例えば、スパッタ法などを用いるが、高温条件にさらされるため、磁気ディスクの基板が変形するという問題を有していた。このことから、変形の生じにくい磁気ディスクが求められる。
そこで本開示は、熱アシスト磁気記録に使用するに適した磁気ディスク、磁気ディスク基板、磁気ディスク基板の使用及び磁気ディスクの製造方法を提供することを目的とする。

本実施形態に係る磁気ディスクは、上記の条件で加熱した後に測定した真直度(以下、単に「加熱後の真直度」ともいう)が、90μm以下である。当該真直度を有することで、熱アシスト磁気記録に使用するに適した磁気ディスクが得られる。

当該真直度を得るためには、例えば、使用する磁気ディスクの材料の組成変更によるガラス転移温度、熱膨張係数、比弾性率などを調整すること、磁気ディスクの板厚を調整すること、製法(例えば、溶融ガラスをシート状に成型し、急冷して板状ガラスを得たのちに、基板の形状に加工する方法、又は、シート状に成形する際にダウンドロー方式を採用する)の変更によって、上述の範囲とすることができる。
加熱後の真直度は、好ましくは80μm以下であり、より好ましくは70μm以下であり、更に好ましくは60μm以下である。加熱後の真直度は、その下限値は特に限定されないが、例えば20μm以上である。
当該真直度を得るためには、例えば、使用する磁気ディスクの材料の組成変更によるガラス転移温度、熱膨張係数、比弾性率などを調整すること、磁気ディスクの板厚を調整すること、製法(例えば、溶融ガラスをシート状に成型し、急冷して板状ガラスを得たのちに、基板の形状に加工する方法、又は、シート状に成形する際にダウンドロー方式を採用する)の変更によって、上述の範囲とすることができる。
さらに、加熱後の真直度の値は基板の厚さによっても影響を受け、基板の厚さを薄くすることによる真直度の増加の割合は材料によって異なる。基板の厚さを薄くしても加熱後の真直度の値の増加が小さいものが好ましい。基板の厚さを考慮して、ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値は、好ましくは50.0(μm・mm)以下であり、より好ましくは40.0(μm・mm)以下、さらに好ましくは35.0(μm・mm)以下である。
本実施形態に係る磁気ディスクは、上記の条件で加熱する前の真直度と、上記の条件で加熱した後の真直度の変化量(以下、単に「真直度の変化量」ともいう)は、10~80μmであることが好ましい。当該真直度を有することで、熱アシスト磁気記録に使用するに適した磁気ディスクが得られる。
真直度の変化量は、好ましくは15~75μmであり、より好ましくは15~70μmであり、更に好ましくは15~60μmであり、更に好ましくは15~50μmである。

図1は、本実施形態に係る磁気ディスク21の外観斜視図である。磁気ディスク21は、円環形状を成しており、スピンドルホール215を有する。磁気ディスク21は、互いに対向する主表面216を備える。一対の主表面は略平行である。ここで、略平行とは、例えば平行度が5μm以下であることを意味する。磁気ディスク21は、一対の主表面をつなぐ外周端面217を有する。また、磁気ディスク21は、一対の主表面をつなぐ内周端面218を有する。
図2は、本実施形態に係る磁気ディスク21の断面図である。磁気ディスク21は、基板211と、L10-FePt合金を含有する磁性材料を含む磁性層214と含む。磁気ディスク21は、MgOを含む第1下地層213を更に有してもよい。また、磁気ディスク21は、Cr合金を含む第2下地層212を更に有してもよい。
磁性層214は、単層であってもよいが、複数層の積層構造を有していてもよい。
磁気ディスク21は、保護層215を有していてもよく、潤滑層216を有していてもよい。なお、適宜、軟磁性層やヒートシンク層が追加されてもよい。
本実施形態に係る磁気ディスク基板(以下、単に「基板」ともいう。)は、0.2~0.6mmの板厚を有することが好ましい。基板の厚みは、好ましくは0.30~0.55mmであり、より好ましくは0.35~0.50mmであり、更に好ましくは0.41~0.45mmである。
基板の材料は、例えば、ステンレス、チタン、アルミニウム、及びアルミニウム合金等の金属材料、セラミックス、及びガラスが挙げられる。これらの中でも基板は、好ましくはガラス基板である。
ガラス基板のガラス組成は、好ましくは
SiO2を55~80mol%、Al2O3を5~25mol%、B2O3を0~8mol%、P2O5を0~5mol%、MOを5~25mol%(MOは、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOの含有量の合計値である。)、0~15mol%のM2O(M2Oは、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oの合計値である。)を含有する。ガラス基板のガラス組成は、これらの成分からなるものであってもよい。

ガラス基板のガラス組成における各成分の好ましい含有量は以下のとおりである。
SiO2は、ガラスのネットワーク形成成分である。SiO2の含有量は、ガラスの安定性を高める観点及び生産時の溶融性向上の観点から、好ましくは55~80mol%であり、より好ましくは57~75mol%であり、更に好ましくは60~70mol%である。
Al2O3の含有量は、ガラスの耐熱性向上の観点及びガラスの安定性を高める観点から、好ましくは5~25mol%であり、より好ましくは10~20mol%であり、更に好ましくは12~18mol%である。
B2O3は、ガラスのネットワーク形成成分である。B2O3の含有量は、好ましくは0~8mol%であり、より好ましくは0~1.5mol%であり、更に好ましくは0.1~0.8mol%である。
P2O5の含有量は、好ましくは0~5mol%であり、より好ましくは0~3mol%であり、更に好ましくは0.1~3mol%である。
MOは、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOの含有量の合計値である。MOの含有量は、ヤング率を調整する観点から、好ましくは5~25mol%であり、より好ましくは6~20mol%であり、更に好ましくは14~18mol%である。
MgOの含有量は、ヤング率を調整する観点から、好ましくは3~20mol%であり、より好ましくは4~19mol%であり、更に好ましくは8~18mol%である。

M2Oは、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oの合計値である。M2Oの含有量は、好ましくは0~15mol%であり、より好ましくは0~10mol%であり、更に好ましくは0.01~9mol%である。
Li2Oの含有量は、耐熱性向上の観点から、好ましくは0~5mol%であり、より好ましくは0~7mol%であり、更に好ましくは0.01~6mol%である。
Na2Oの含有量は、好ましくは0~10mol%であり、より好ましくは0~7mol%であり、更に好ましくは0.01~5mol%である。
K2Oの含有量は、好ましくは0~3mol%であり、より好ましくは0~1mol%であり、更に好ましくは0~0.3mol%である。
本開示では、ガラス組成を、酸化物基準のガラス組成で示す。ここで「酸化物基準のガラス組成」とは、ガラス原料が熔融時にすべて分解されてガラス中で酸化物として存在するものとして換算することにより得られるガラス組成を意味する。
本開示におけるガラス組成は、例えばICP-AES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry)等の方法により求めることができる。定量分析は、ICP-AESを用い、各元素別に行われる。その後、分析値は酸化物表記に換算される。ICP-AESによる分析値は、例えば、分析値の±5%程度の測定誤差を含んでいることがある。したがって、分析値から換算された酸化物表記の値についても、同様に±5%程度の誤差を含んでいることがある。
また、本開示において、構成成分の含有量が0mol%とは、この構成成分を実質的に含まないことを意味し、この構成成分の含有量が不純物レベル程度以下であることを指す。不純物レベル程度以下とは、例えば、0.01mol%未満であることを意味する。
本開示におけるガラス組成は、例えばICP-AES(Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry)等の方法により求めることができる。定量分析は、ICP-AESを用い、各元素別に行われる。その後、分析値は酸化物表記に換算される。ICP-AESによる分析値は、例えば、分析値の±5%程度の測定誤差を含んでいることがある。したがって、分析値から換算された酸化物表記の値についても、同様に±5%程度の誤差を含んでいることがある。
また、本開示において、構成成分の含有量が0mol%とは、この構成成分を実質的に含まないことを意味し、この構成成分の含有量が不純物レベル程度以下であることを指す。不純物レベル程度以下とは、例えば、0.01mol%未満であることを意味する。

基板のガラス転移温度は、好ましくは700℃以上であり、より好ましくは710~850℃であり、更に好ましくは720~840℃である。
基板の100~300℃における熱膨張係数は、(単位:×10-7/K)は、好ましくは10~110であり、より好ましくは25~98であり、更に好ましくは30~55である。
基板の比弾性率E/dの値は、好ましくは31.0×106m2/s2以上であり、より好ましくは31.5×106m2/s2以上であり、好ましくは34.0×106m2/s2以上である。基板が当該範囲の比弾性率E/dを有することで、耐衝撃性がより向上する。なお、基板は0.51mm以下の厚みの場合に、上述の範囲の比弾性率E/dの値を有することで上述の効果がより顕著に得られる。比弾性率E/dとは、ヤング率を比重で除した値を意味する。
磁気ディスク21は、磁性層214を備える。磁気ディスク21は、例えば、平滑に研磨されたガラス基板の主表面上に、主表面に近いほうから順に積層された、Cr合金を含む第2下地層212、MgOを含む第1下地層213、磁性層214、保護層215、潤滑層216を有していてもよい。
第2下地層としては、例えばCr合金、より具体的には、CrTi、CrB等を用いることができる。第2下地層の膜厚は、例えば、1~30nmとしてもよい。
第1下地層としては、例えばRuやMgOを含む材料を用いることができ、MgOを含むことが好ましい。MgOを含む第1下地層を用いることで、磁性層を形成する際に、L10-FePt合金を形成しやすくなる。第1下地層の膜厚は、例えば、5~30nmとしてもよい。
第1下地層、及び第2下地層は、例えば、ガラス基板を、真空引きを行った成膜装置内に導入し、DC(Direct Current)マグネトロンスパッタリング法にてAr雰囲気中で、ガラス基板の主表面上に順次成膜される。
磁性層は、磁気ディスクの超高記録密度化のために、L10構造を有していることが好ましい。FePt合金を含有する磁性粒子及び粒界部分を含む粒状構造を有する。粒界部分は、例えばC、B、BN、Al2O3、SiO2、TiO2、及びCr2O3などの非磁性物質を含有する。なお、粒状構造は、グラニュラー構造ともいう。磁性体は強磁性体に限らずアルター磁性体であってもよい。アルター磁性体を用いることにより外部磁場の影響を無くし、磁性体の粒子径を10nm以下、好ましくは4nm以下、さらに好ましくは2nm以下とすることができ記録密度をさらに向上させることができる。
磁性層は、L10-FePt系合金材料より構成されることが好ましい。なお、ここで「系」とは、含有することを意味する。具体的な磁性層を構成するL10-FePt系合金材料としては、例えばC(カーボン)を含有するFePtやFePtAg(FePtをAgで合金化したもの)、Si(シリコン)を含有するFePtやFePtAg(FePtをAgで合金化したもの)が挙げられる。さらに、L10構造を有する磁性体として、FePt系合金の他、CoPt合金、Nd2Fe14B、SnCo5など希土類磁石材料からなるものとすることができる。
磁性層は、式(1)で示す組成を有することが好ましい。
(FexPt1-x)1-zAgz-Cv ・・・(1)
(式中、0.4<x<0.55、0≦z<0.2であり、0≦v≦50vol%(好ましくは30vol%≦v≦50vol%)であり、(FexPt1-x)1-zAgzは、(100-v)vol%である。)
Fe:Ptを1:1に近い組成とすることで、L10型/A1相の規則・不規則変態温度が最も高くなることから、高いL10規則の駆動力が得られる。
FePtのL10型構造の規則化の促進を目的として、FePtをAgで合金化することが好ましい。この場合、上記のように、FePtに対しAgを原子比で0~20%の割合で含ませることが好ましい。
FePt-C層又はFePtAg-C層中のCは膜成長中に、FePt又はFePtAgと相分離し、グラニュラー構造の非磁性マトリックスを形成する。

Fe:Ptを1:1に近い組成とすることで、L10型/A1相の規則・不規則変態温度が最も高くなることから、高いL10規則の駆動力が得られる。
FePtのL10型構造の規則化の促進を目的として、FePtをAgで合金化することが好ましい。この場合、上記のように、FePtに対しAgを原子比で0~20%の割合で含ませることが好ましい。
FePt-C層又はFePtAg-C層中のCは膜成長中に、FePt又はFePtAgと相分離し、グラニュラー構造の非磁性マトリックスを形成する。
磁性層において、L10-FePt合金を含有する磁性粒子は、島状の磁性粒子とすることが好ましい。磁性粒の粒径は、より小さい方が好ましい。粒径の小さな磁性粒を得るためには膜厚を例えば20nm以下となるように薄く成膜すればよい。
粒界部分を構成する非磁性物質は、FePt合金、FePtAg合金を用いるスパッタリングの場合には、上記材料を含んだ合金ターゲットを用意し、同時スパッタリングの場合には、それぞれのターゲットを用意し同時に成膜を行う。
また、FePt合金+非磁性マトリックスとなる化合物の2つのターゲットを使った同時スパッタリングでもよい。また、非磁性マトリックスの体積分率は成膜速度を制御することにより変更することができる。
例えばCを含有するFePt合金を成膜する場合には、FePtとCの同時スパッタリング(コスパッタ)を採用することができる。FePt合金ターゲットとCターゲットを用い、実施例に示すように、FePtスパッタリング中に、Cターゲットの電力を制御し、Cの成膜速度を変化させる方法が好ましい。
また、FePt合金+非磁性マトリックスとなる化合物の2つのターゲットを使った同時スパッタリングでもよい。また、非磁性マトリックスの体積分率は成膜速度を制御することにより変更することができる。
例えばCを含有するFePt合金を成膜する場合には、FePtとCの同時スパッタリング(コスパッタ)を採用することができる。FePt合金ターゲットとCターゲットを用い、実施例に示すように、FePtスパッタリング中に、Cターゲットの電力を制御し、Cの成膜速度を変化させる方法が好ましい。
磁性層の膜厚は、例えば1~20nmであってもよい。
また、磁性層の上部又は下部に補助記録層を設けてもよい。補助記録層を設けることによって、磁気記録層の高密度記録性と低ノイズ性、保磁力制御に加えて高熱耐性を付け加えることができる。補助記録層の組成は、例えばA1構造のFePtを含む強磁性合金とすることができる。また強磁性層を成膜するかわりに、イオン照射やプラズマダメージによりL10型構造を有するFePt磁性体の一部をA1構造に不規則化させ、保磁力を制御することもできる。補助記録層の膜厚は0~10nm程度が好ましい。補助記録層は、例えばスパッタリング法で形成することができる。
さらに、磁性層と補助記録層との間に、交換結合制御層を設けてもよい。交換結合制御層を設けることにより、グラニュラー磁性層と補助記録層との間の交換結合の強さを制御して記録再生特性を最適化することができる。交換結合制御層としては、例えば(RuやRu合金)などが用いられる。交換結合制御層の膜厚は0~10nm程度が好ましい。交換結合制御層は、例えばスパッタリング法で形成することができる。
保護層の材料としては、たとえば炭素系保護層が好ましい。保護層は、例えばCVD(Chemical Vapor Deposition)法によりC2H4を用いて保護層を成膜し、同一チャンバ内で、表面に窒素を導入する窒化処理を行うことで形成できる。保護層を設けることにより、磁気ディスク上を浮上飛行する磁気ヘッドから磁気ディスク表面を保護することができる。保護層の膜厚は、例えば3~7nmとすることができる。
潤滑層は、PFPE(ポリフルオロポリエーテル)を含んでいてもよい。なお、潤滑層は、例えばPFPE(ポリフルオロポリエーテル)をディップコート法により保護層上に塗布することにより、潤滑層を形成することができる。
[磁気ディスクの製造方法]
本実施形態に係る磁気ディスクの製造方法は、
基板を、前記基板表面温度が600~780℃となるまで加熱した後に、L10構造を有する磁性層を形成する工程を有する。
なお、ここでの基板は、一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する磁気ディスク基板であって、前記磁気ディスク基板を前述の加熱条件で加熱した後、前述の測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である。
本実施形態に係る磁気ディスクの製造方法は、
基板を、前記基板表面温度が600~780℃となるまで加熱した後に、L10構造を有する磁性層を形成する工程を有する。
なお、ここでの基板は、一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する磁気ディスク基板であって、前記磁気ディスク基板を前述の加熱条件で加熱した後、前述の測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である。
磁性層形成工程では、スパッタリングにより、基板上に磁性層を形成することが好ましい。スパッタリングそのもののプロセスについては公知のものをはじめとして各種の装置や条件を適宜に採用することができる。特にDCマグネトロンスパッタリング法で形成すると均一な成膜が可能となるので好ましい。
磁気ディスクは、高保磁力を示す合金を形成するためには、高い一軸磁気異方性を有する規則化したL10型構造を有する合金を生成することが好ましい。本実施形態において、高度に規則化したL10型構造を有するFePt合金微粒子を島状に成長させるためには、スパッタリング成膜時の基板温度を650℃以上に維持することが好ましい。
例えばFePt合金を構成するFeとPtの各々のターゲット、又はFePtAg合金を構成するFeとPtとAgの各々のターゲットを用いた同時スパッタリングでもよく、組成が予備的に調整されたFePt合金ターゲット、又はFePtAg合金ターゲットを用いたスパッタリングでもよい。
上記のFeとPtを主成分とする合金ターゲットは、成膜される磁性層中のFeとPtの組成が1:1に近い組成、具体的には、FexPt1-xのxが0.4<x<0.55となるように作製することが好ましい。また、FeとPtの各々のターゲットを用いる場合は、各々のターゲットに投入する電力を制御することにより、およそ1:1の成膜速度にすることができる。
上記磁性層形成工程後に、必要に応じて、基板を加熱処理(アニール処理)してもよい。この場合、アニール処理温度は、好ましくは300~700℃である。
本開示は、以下の実施形態を包含する。

以下、実施例により本実施形態をさらに具体的に説明するが、本実施形態は以下の実施例に限定されるものではない。
<真直度>
表面粗さ測定機(製品名「Surftest-VS2100」株式会社ミツトヨ社製)にて真直度の測定を行った。
測定位置は、図3の点線に示す長さ88mmの直線上の測定範囲で測定した。120度向きが異なる3方向で測定し、各測定値の数平均値を真直度とした。

<加熱試験>
2枚のセラミックパネルヒータの間に磁気ディスク(基板)を配置し、60秒基板を入れて、時間経過後取り出す。
カートリッジヒータ(500W)を4本1枚のセラミックパネル(AIN(窒化アルミ))に挿入した。当該パネル2枚を準備し、ヒーターパネル表面間を18mm間隔に設定した。
磁気ディスク表面に配置した熱電対(セラサーモ 熱電対 タイプK線径φ0.1)によって、ディスク表面が所定の温度に到達するようにパネル温調設定し、大気中の非接触加熱を実施した。磁気ディスクの昇温速度は下記のグラフに示すとおり、60秒で700℃まで昇温し、磁気ディスクを取り出した。なお、図4に示すように、磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるように加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱した。また、その後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却した。

磁気ディスク表面に配置した熱電対(セラサーモ 熱電対 タイプK線径φ0.1)によって、ディスク表面が所定の温度に到達するようにパネル温調設定し、大気中の非接触加熱を実施した。磁気ディスクの昇温速度は下記のグラフに示すとおり、60秒で700℃まで昇温し、磁気ディスクを取り出した。なお、図4に示すように、磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるように加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱した。また、その後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却した。
<ヤング率>
基板のヤング率Eは、JIS R1602:1995に基づいて測定した。測定のための試験片を、磁気ディスクから長さ50mm、幅10mm、厚さを磁気ディスクの板厚と同じ厚さの直方体として切り出し、常温で測定した。

<ガラス転移温度>
熱機械分析装置を用いて、温度上昇による熱膨張に伴うプローブの位置変化量からグラフを作成し、グラフの傾斜の変化からガラス転移温度を読み取った。

<100~300℃における熱膨張係数>
基板の熱膨張率は、磁気ディスクから長さ50mm、幅10mmの寸法で切り出した試料を、レーザ干渉法による熱膨張計を用いて、所定の温度範囲における長さの変化量を求め、100~300℃における平均線膨張係数の値とした。

(実施例及び比較例)
実施例及び比較例では、表1に示す組成の下記の磁気ディスク基板を作成し、加熱試験及び加熱試験前後の真直度の測定を行った。なお、磁性層などの他の層の形成による磁気ディスク基板の加熱後の真直度への影響は少なく磁気ディスク基板の真直度はそのまま磁気ディスクの真直度に反映される。

実施例及び比較例では、表1に示す組成の下記の磁気ディスク基板を作成し、加熱試験及び加熱試験前後の真直度の測定を行った。なお、磁性層などの他の層の形成による磁気ディスク基板の加熱後の真直度への影響は少なく磁気ディスク基板の真直度はそのまま磁気ディスクの真直度に反映される。

SU-1:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が752℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が43(10―7/K)、ヤング率が90(GPa)、比弾性率が36.1(106m2/s2)のアルカリ含有ガラスを用いて、厚さ0.43mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が16.3(μm・mm)であった。また、使用したアルカリ含有ガラスにおいて、B2O3の含有量が0mol%、かつMgOおよびCaOの含有量の合計が18.5mol%、Li2Oの含有量が1.0mol%、Na2Oの含有量が3.0mol%であった。)
SU-2:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が737℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が43(10―7/K)、ヤング率が93(GPa)、比弾性率が36.8(106m2/s2)のアルカリ含有ガラスを用いて、厚さ0.43mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が25.4(μm・mm)であった。また、使用したアルカリ含有ガラスにおいて、B2O3の含有量が0.3mol%、かつMgOおよびCaOの含有量の合計が16.5mol%、Li2Oの含有量が0.8mol%、Na2Oの含有量が3.0mol%であった。)
SU-3:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が810℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が39(10―7/K)、ヤング率が83(GPa)、比弾性率が31.4(106m2/s2)のダウンドローにより形成された無アルカリガラスを用いて、厚さ0.50mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が29.5(μm・mm)であった。また、使用した無アルカリガラスにおいて、B2O3の含有量が0.8mol%、かつMgOおよびCaOの含有量の合計が11.0mol%、Li2OおよびNa2Oの含有量が0mol%であった。)

SU-1:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が752℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が43(10―7/K)、ヤング率が90(GPa)、比弾性率が36.1(106m2/s2)のアルカリ含有ガラスを用いて、厚さ0.43mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が16.3(μm・mm)であった。また、使用したアルカリ含有ガラスにおいて、B2O3の含有量が0mol%、かつMgOおよびCaOの含有量の合計が18.5mol%、Li2Oの含有量が1.0mol%、Na2Oの含有量が3.0mol%であった。)

SU-14:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が691℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が51(10―7/K)、ヤング率が95(GPa)、比弾性率が36.6(106m2/s2)のアルカリ含有ガラスを用いて、厚さ0.50mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が138.0(μm・mm)であった。)
SU-15:ガラス基板(ガラス転移温度が691℃、100~300℃における熱膨張係数が51(10―7/K)、ヤング率が95(GPa)、比弾性率が36.6(106m2/s2)のアルカリ含有ガラスを用いて、厚さ0.43mmのガラス基板を得た。ガラス基板の加熱後の真直度C2(μm)と基板の厚さ(mm)の積の値が164.7(μm・mm)であった。)
dC×t2の値が14(μm・mm・mm)以下の磁気ディスク基板においては、板厚が小さくなっても変形が生じ難い傾向にある。
C2×tの値は34.0(μm・mm)以下であることが好ましい。基板厚さが小さくなると加熱前後の真直度の変化量dCは大きくなる傾向にあるが、C2×tの値が34.0(μm・mm)以下である基板においては、厚さが0.43mm以下であっても加熱前後の真直度の変化量dCを十分に小さいものとすることができる。
また、各実施例の磁気ディスク基板はいずれも、SiO2を55~80mol%、Al2O3を5~25mol%、B2O3を0~8mol%、P2O5を0~5mol%、MOを5~25mol%(MOは、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOの含有量の合計値である。)、0~15mol%のM2O(M2Oは、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oの合計値である。)を含有するものであった。
また、実施例1、2、3、6の磁気ディスク基板は、0~15mol%のM2O、5~25mol%のMOを含有するものであった。さらにこれらの磁気ディスク基板において、B2O3の含有量が0~1.5mol%かつMgOおよびCaOの含有量の合計が5.0~25.0mol%であった。これらの磁気ディスク基板では、B2O3の含有量が少ないため、板厚が小さくても加熱後の真直度の変化量dCを小さくすることができ好ましい。
Claims (27)
- 磁気ディスクであって、
一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する基板と、
前記基板の前記一対の主表面及び外周端面に、L10構造を有する磁性層と、を有し、
前記磁気ディスクを下記加熱条件で加熱した後、下記測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である、磁気ディスク。
(加熱条件)
磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるまで加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱し、さらにその後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却する。
(真直度の測定条件)
120度向きが異なる3方向で、表面粗さ測定機にて、少なくとも長さ88mmの測定範囲で最大谷深さSvの値を測定し、前記最大谷深さSvの数平均値を真直度の値として求める。 - 前記加熱条件により加熱する前後の真直度の変化量が10~80μmである、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記磁気ディスクを前記加熱条件で加熱した後に前記測定条件で測定した真直度が80μm以下である、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記加熱条件により加熱する前後の真直度の変化量が15~70μmである、請求項3に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記磁性層は、L10-FePt系合金を含有する磁性粒子及び粒界部分を含む粒状構造を有する、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板の前記一対の主表面及び外周端面に、MgOを含む第1下地層を更に有する、請求項5に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板の前記一対の主表面及び外周端面に、Cr合金を含む第2下地層を更に有する、請求項6に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板が、ガラス基板である、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板が、
SiO2を55~80mol%、Al2O3を5~25mol%、B2O3を0~8mol%、P2O5を0~5mol%、MOを5~25mol%(MOは、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOの含有量の合計値である。)、M2Oを0~15mol%(M2Oは、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oの合計値である。)を含有する、請求項8に記載の磁気ディスク。 - 前記基板が、0.2~0.6mmの板厚を有する、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板が、80GPa以上のヤング率を有する、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 前記基板が、700℃以上のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項1に記載の磁気ディスク。
- 一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する磁気ディスク基板であって、
前記磁気ディスク基板を下記加熱条件で加熱した後、下記測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である、磁気ディスク基板。
(加熱条件)
磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるまで加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱し、さらにその後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却する。
(真直度の測定条件)
120度向きが異なる3方向で、表面粗さ測定機にて、少なくとも長さ88mmの測定範囲で最大谷深さSvの値を測定し、前記最大谷深さSvの数平均値を真直度の値として求める。 - 前記加熱条件により加熱する前後の真直度の変化量が10~80μmである、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記磁気ディスクを前記加熱条件で加熱した後に前記測定条件で測定した真直度が80μm以下である、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記加熱条件により加熱する前後の真直度の変化量が15~70μmである、請求項15に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記基板が、ガラス製である、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記基板が、
SiO2を55~80mol%、Al2O3を5~25mol%、B2O3を0~8mol%、MOを5~25mol%(MOは、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、MgO、CaO、SrO及びBaOの含有量の合計値である。)、M2Oを0~15mol%(M2Oは、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oから選ばれる少なくとも一種であり、その含有量は、Li2O、Na2O及びK2Oの合計値である。)を含有する、請求項17に記載の磁気ディスク基板。 - 前記基板が、0.2~0.6mmの板厚を有する、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記基板が、80GPa以上のヤング率を有する、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 前記基板が、700℃以上のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 熱アシスト記録用である、請求項13に記載の磁気ディスク基板。
- 熱アシスト記録用磁気ディスク製造のための、請求項13~22のいずれか一項に記載の磁気ディスク基板の使用。
- 磁気ディスクの製造方法であって、
基板を、前記基板表面温度が600~780℃となるまで加熱した後に、L10構造を有する磁性層を形成する工程を有し、
前記基板が、一対の主表面及び外周端面を有する磁気ディスク基板であって、前記磁気ディスク基板を下記加熱条件で加熱した後、下記測定条件で測定した真直度が90μm以下である、磁気ディスクの製造方法。
(加熱条件)
磁気ディスクの表面温度が、常温から25秒で600℃となるまで加熱し、その後35秒で700℃となるまで加熱し、さらにその後120秒かけて常温となるまで冷却する。
