Definitions
- This disclosure relates to a vehicle braking control device.
- Patent Document 1 describes a vehicle brake hydraulic pressure control device that includes a pump 4, a motor 9 that drives the pump 4, and a control unit 20 that controls the current flowing to the pressure regulating valve R according to the target hydraulic pressure, which enables rapid pressurization of the hydraulic path on the wheel brake side and brings the actual hydraulic pressure closer to the target hydraulic pressure.
- the control unit 20 includes a means for converting the target hydraulic pressure of the wheel brakes FR, FL, RR, and RL into a fluid volume and calculating the required flow rate from this fluid volume, a means for calculating the required rotation speed of the motor 9 based on the capacity of the pump 4 from the calculated required flow rate, and a means for increasing the current flowing to the pressure regulating valve R by a predetermined amount when the required rotation speed exceeds the actual rotation speed of the motor 9 obtained by detection or estimation.
- Patent Document 2 describes how, in a braking control device, in order to improve the accuracy of hydraulic control, the brake control unit BCU determines the rotation speed of the motor M so that the circulating flow rate of the brake fluid flowing through the gate-out valve 13 is equal to or greater than a predetermined flow rate, and controls the current applied to the gate-out valve 13 by calculating a current value that will obtain a target differential pressure due to the flow of brake fluid discharged at the determined rotation speed through the gate-out valve 13.
- brushless motors are sometimes used as electric motors to drive fluid pumps.
- brushless motors can lose synchronism when started up or when there is a sudden change in load, and when this occurs, the motor must be restarted.
- Brushless motors do not have brushes (commutators), so they are driven by changing the direction of the magnetic flux by changing the direction of the current flowing through the coil according to the rotation angle of the rotor.
- the rotation angle is detected by a rotation angle sensor such as a Hall sensor.
- brushless motors that do not use a rotation angle sensor have also been developed.
- Such brushless motors are called “sensorless type brushless motors” or “sensorless motors”.
- hydraulic pressure adjustment by the pressure regulating valve UA which is a linear valve, depends on the flow rate of braking fluid passing through the solenoid valve (also called the "valve flow rate").
- the valve flow rate is calculated from the rotational speed (rpm) of the electric motor.
- rpm rotational speed
- step-out occurs in the electric motor, an error occurs in the calculated valve flow rate, and the hydraulic pressure adjustment by the pressure regulating valve may be excessive or insufficient.
- the objective of the present invention is to provide a vehicle braking control device that controls hydraulic pressure using a brushless motor without a rotation angle sensor as a power source, and that can appropriately control hydraulic pressure when step-out occurs.
- the brake control device (SC) controls the wheel pressure (Pw) of the wheel cylinder (CW), and includes a brushless motor (MT) without a rotation angle sensor, a fluid pump (HP) driven by the brushless motor (MT), a pressure regulating valve (UA) that adjusts the discharge pressure (Pp) of the fluid pump (HP), and a controller (ECU) that drives the brushless motor (MT) by sensorless vector control and controls the pressure regulating valve (UA) based on an estimated speed (Ne) in the sensorless vector control.
- the controller (ECU) reduces the supply current (Ia) of the pressure regulating valve (UA) compared to when the valve flow rate (Qu) is small.
- the specific speed Nd is used to calculate the valve flow rate Qu instead of the estimated speed Ne.
- the specific speed Nd is set to represent the change in motor speed when the brushless motor is restarted due to step-out, so excess or deficiency in hydraulic pressure adjustment is suppressed.
- the brake control device SC can appropriately control the hydraulic pressure (differential pressure due to the pressure regulating valve) when the electric motor steps out.

- FIG. 2 is a block diagram for explaining sensorless vector control.
- FIG. 4 is a block diagram for explaining step-out determination.
- FIG. 4 is a block diagram for explaining control of a pressure regulating valve UA.

- An estimated value which is the other type of actual value, is a value calculated using a certain relationship from values obtained as different physical quantities (various state quantities, etc.).

- the braking operating member BP e.g., a brake pedal
- the steering operating member e.g., a steering wheel
- the vehicle is equipped with a driving control device (not shown).
- the driving control device is composed of a prime mover, a power transmission mechanism, and a controller for driving control (also simply referred to as a "driving controller").
- a driving torque is output from the prime mover of the driving control device according to the operation amount Aa of the acceleration operating member.
- the driving torque generated by the prime mover is transmitted to the wheels WH via the power transmission mechanism.
- a driving torque Td is applied to the wheels WH, and a driving force Fd is generated in the wheels WH.

- the vehicle is equipped with a driving assistance device SJ.
- the driving assistance device SJ performs adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance and damage mitigation control, etc.
- the driving assistance device SJ is composed of an object detection sensor DZ and a driving assistance controller ECJ (also simply referred to as a "driving assistance controller").
- the object detection sensor DZ detects a distance Dz (called the "relative distance”, and also called the "inter-vehicle distance" when the object is a preceding vehicle) to an object present in front of the vehicle (including a preceding vehicle traveling in front of the vehicle) in front of the vehicle.
- a radar sensor, a millimeter wave sensor, an image sensor, etc. are used as the object detection sensor DZ.
- the driving assistance controller ECJ calculates the target acceleration Gs of the vehicle (the target value of the vehicle body acceleration in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle) based on the detection result Dz (relative distance) of the object detection sensor DZ.
- the driving assistance device SJ is connected to the driving control device and the braking control device SC via a communication bus BS.
- the target acceleration Gs is transmitted to the driving control device and the braking control device SC via the communication bus BS. Then, the driving control device and the braking control device SC adjust the driving force Fd and the braking force Fb according to the target acceleration Gs.
- detection signals (Ba, etc.) of these sensors are input to a controller ECU for braking control (also simply referred to as a "braking controller").
- An acceleration operation amount sensor (not shown) that detects the operation amount Aa (acceleration operation amount) of an acceleration operating member
- a braking operation amount sensor BA that detects the operation amount Ba (braking operation amount) of a brake operating member BP
- a steering operation amount sensor (not shown) that detects the operation amount Ha of a steering operating member (steering operation amount, for example, steering angle).

- a yaw rate sensor (not shown) that detects a yaw rate Yr
- a longitudinal acceleration sensor (not shown) that detects a longitudinal acceleration Gx
- a lateral acceleration sensor (not shown) that detects a lateral acceleration Gy.
- the vehicle is equipped with an instruction switch (not shown) for issuing instructions for various automatic pressure controls, a braking device SX, a brake booster BB, a master reservoir RV, and a master cylinder CM.
- the instruction switch instructs the cruise control device, driving assistance device SJ, braking control device SC, etc. to execute adaptive cruise control, crawl control, etc.
- the signal from the instruction switch (also called the "instruction signal”) includes an instruction to operate the automatic pressure control as well as an instruction speed. In the automatic pressure control, control is performed so that the vehicle speed Vx approaches and matches the instruction speed.
- the brake caliper is arranged to sandwich the rotating member KT.
- a braking torque Tb is applied to the wheel WH according to the pressure of the braking fluid BF in the wheel cylinder CW (referred to as "wheel pressure Pw"), and a braking force Fb is generated in the wheel WH.
- a friction member (not shown, e.g., a brake pad) is pressed against the rotating member KT by the wheel pressure Pw. Because the rotating member KT and the wheel WH are fixed so that they rotate together, the frictional force that occurs at this time applies a braking torque Tb to the wheel WH. As a result, the wheel WH generates a braking force Fb.
- the brake booster BB reduces the operating force Fp of the brake operating member BP.
- a negative pressure type or an electric type is used as the brake booster BB.
- the master reservoir (also called the "atmospheric pressure reservoir”) RV is a tank for hydraulic fluid. Brake fluid BF is stored inside the master reservoir RV.
- the primary master piston PG in the master cylinder CM is mechanically connected to the brake operating member BP via a brake rod or the like.
- a tandem type master cylinder CM is used.
- the front and rear hydraulic chambers Rmf and Rmr also called the "master chambers" of the master cylinder CM are in communication with the master reservoir RV.
- brake fluid BF is replenished from the master reservoir RV to the master chamber Rm.
- the master pistons PG, PH in the master cylinder CM are pushed forward (in the direction in which the volume of the master chamber Rm decreases), and the master chamber Rm is isolated from the master reservoir RV. Furthermore, when the operation of the brake operating member BP is increased, the master pistons PG, PH are moved forward, and the brake fluid BF (working fluid) is discharged (pressurized) from the master cylinder CM. When the operation of the brake operating member BP is decreased, the master pistons PG, PH are moved backward (in the direction in which the volume of the master chamber Rm increases), and the brake fluid BF is returned toward the master cylinder CM.
- the vehicle is equipped with a brake control device SC.
- the brake control device SC employs a front and rear type (also called “type II") brake system BK (i.e., front wheel and driving wheel brake systems BKf and BKr).
- BK front wheel and driving wheel brake systems
- the brake control device SC is composed of a fluid unit HU and a brake controller ECU.
- the fluid unit HU is provided between the master cylinder CM and the wheel cylinder CW.
- the fluid unit HU is composed of an electric motor MT, a fluid pump HP, a pressure regulating valve UA, a pressure regulating reservoir RC, a master pressure sensor PM, an inlet valve VI, and an outlet valve VO.
- the fluid pump HP is driven by the electric motor MT.
- a three-phase brushless motor without a rotation angle sensor is used as the electric motor MT.
- This electric motor MT is called a "sensorless type brushless motor” or “sensorless motor.”
- the electric motor MT has three coils, U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase, and the current to the three-phase coils is synchronized according to the rotor position (i.e., the motor rotation angle). Since the sensorless motor MT does not have a rotation angle sensor, the motor rotation angle Ke is estimated based on the motor current Im.
- the pressure regulating valve UA (solenoid valve) is a normally open linear valve (also called a "differential pressure valve” or "proportional valve”).
- the fluid pump HP sucks in brake fluid BF from the top of the pressure regulating valve UA (the side closer to the master cylinder CM) and discharges brake fluid BF to the bottom of the pressure regulating valve UA (the side closer to the wheel cylinder CW).
- a circulating flow KN of brake fluid BF i.e., a circulating flow of brake fluid BF
- the return path HK including the fluid pump HP, the pressure regulating valve UA, and the pressure regulating reservoir RC.
- the orifice effect increases the hydraulic pressure Pp (which is the hydraulic pressure at the discharge part of the fluid pump HP and is therefore also called the “discharge pressure") at the bottom of the pressure regulating valve UA from the hydraulic pressure Pm (which is the hydraulic pressure at the suction part of the fluid pump HP and is therefore also called the “suction pressure") at the top of the pressure regulating valve UA.
- the discharge pressure Pp adjusted by the hydraulic pressure supply source CA can be supplied to each of the wheel cylinders CW as the wheel pressure Pw.
- the wheel path HW is provided with an inlet valve VI, which is a normally open on-off valve (solenoid valve). That is, the inlet valve VI is provided between the hydraulic pressure supply source CA and the wheel cylinder CW.
- the wheel path HW is connected to a pressure regulating reservoir RC via a pressure reduction path HG.
- the pressure reduction path HG is provided with an outlet valve VO, which is a normally closed on-off valve (solenoid valve).
- the inlet valve VI is closed and the outlet valve VO is opened.
- the inflow of brake fluid BF into the wheel cylinder CW is prevented, and the brake fluid BF in the wheel cylinder CW flows out to the pressure regulating reservoir RC, so the wheel pressure Pw is reduced.
- the inlet valve VI is opened and the outlet valve VO is closed.
- the outflow of brake fluid BF to the pressure regulating reservoir RC is prevented, and the discharge pressure Pp is supplied to the wheel cylinder CW, so the wheel pressure Pw is increased.
- both the inlet valve VI and the outlet valve VO are closed.
- the wheel cylinder CW is fluidically sealed, so the wheel pressure Pw is maintained constant.
- the fluid unit HU is controlled by a brake controller ECU.
- the brake controller ECU is composed of a microprocessor MP and a drive circuit DR.
- the controller ECU is networked with other controllers (ECJ, etc.) via an on-board communication bus BS so as to share signals (detected values, calculated values, etc.).
- the brake controller ECU transmits the vehicle speed Vx to the driving assistance controller ECJ.
- the driving assistance controller ECJ transmits a target acceleration Gs for executing automatic pressurization control to the brake controller ECU.
- the brake controller ECU receives signals such as the acceleration operation amount Aa, the braking operation amount Ba, the steering operation amount Ha, the wheel speed Vw, the yaw rate Yr, the longitudinal acceleration Gx, the lateral acceleration Gy, the target acceleration Gs, and the master pressure Pm.
- the brake controller ECU controls the electric motor MT of the fluid unit HU and the solenoid valves UA, VI, and VO in response to the various signals.
- an H-bridge circuit also called an "inverter circuit” is configured with switching elements (e.g., MOS-FET) to drive the electric motor MT.
- the drive circuit DR is also provided with switching elements to drive various solenoid valves (UA, etc.).
- the drive signal Mt of the electric motor MT, the drive signal Ua of the pressure regulating valve UA, the drive signal Vi of the inlet valve VI, and the drive signal Vo of the outlet valve VO are calculated. Then, the current supplied to the electric motor MT and the solenoid valves UA, VI, and VO is controlled by the drive circuit DR in response to the drive signal (Ua, etc.).
- ⁇ Automatic pressure control executed by the brake control device SC> In a vehicle, various types of automatic pressurization control are executed by the brake control device SC.
- the "automatic pressurization control” automatically increases the wheel pressure Pw and controls the braking force Fb (and/or the driving force Fd) independently of the operation of the brake operating member BP by the driver (i.e., even when no braking operation is performed).
- the listed automatic pressurization controls are well known, so they will be briefly described below. Note that the brake control device SC does not need to execute all of the listed automatic pressurization controls, and at least one of them is executed.
- Anti-skid control improves the directional stability of a vehicle when the vehicle turns.
- Anti-slip control is also called “vehicle behavior stabilization control”.
- vehicle behavior stabilization control also simply called “stability control”
- unstable behavior such as vehicle skid (i.e., excessive oversteer, understeer) is detected based on the wheel speed Vw, yaw rate Yr, lateral acceleration Gy, steering operation amount Ha, and the like. Then, the output of the engine is reduced and the vehicle is decelerated so as to suppress the unstable behavior.
- the wheel pressure Pw is generated and adjusted independently of the operation of the brake operating member BP and individually for each wheel WH.
- the stabilization control the braking force Fb is generated and adjusted by executing automatic pressurization, and a yawing moment is applied to the vehicle (particularly the vehicle body). As a result, the vehicle behavior is stabilized.
- Traction control prevents the drive wheels from spinning when the acceleration operating member is operated (for example, when the vehicle starts or accelerates).
- the wheels WH spin i.e., wheel spin.
- the wheel WH spins based on a comparison between the vehicle body speed Vx and the wheel speed Vw. Then, the output of the engine is reduced so that the wheel WH is prevented from spinning.
- the wheel pressure Pw is increased for the spinning wheel WH to prevent the wheel WH from spinning.
- automatic pressurization is performed to prevent the wheel WH from spinning and promote the generation of the drive force Fd. As a result, the starting performance and acceleration performance of the vehicle are improved.
- Crawl control maintains the vehicle speed Vx at a low speed (constant speed) on unpaved roads (also called “off-road”, e.g. sand, dirt, rocky roads, muddy roads) and the like.
- crawl control the driving force Fd and the braking force Fb are controlled so that the vehicle speed Vx is maintained at the set vehicle speed vc (predetermined value) even if the acceleration operation member (accelerator pedal) and the braking operation member BP (brake pedal) are not operated.
- the execution and the set vehicle speed vc are instructed by a signal from an instruction switch.
- the output of the prime mover is adjusted by the travel control device so that the vehicle speed Vx coincides with and is maintained at a constant low speed vc (set speed).
- the wheel pressure Pw of each wheel WH is individually adjusted by the brake control device SC.
- crawl control the wheel WH is prevented from spinning and locking by executing automatic pressurization.
- the crawl control includes downhill assist control (also called “hill descent control") that allows the vehicle to descend a downhill road at a set speed vc.
- the downhill assist control the vehicle speed Vx is maintained at the set vehicle speed vc by executing automatic pressurization.
- Adaptive cruise control (also simply referred to as “cruise control”) drives the vehicle at a constant speed va (set speed) when there is no preceding vehicle ahead of the vehicle.
- cruise control accelerates or decelerates the vehicle so as to follow the preceding vehicle while maintaining a predetermined inter-vehicle distance da (set distance) when there is a preceding vehicle.
- the execution, set vehicle speed va, and set distance da are instructed by a signal from an instruction switch.
- the driving assistance device SJ determines a target acceleration Gs for the adaptive cruise control.
- the braking control device SC maintains the inter-vehicle distance Dz at the set distance da by executing automatic pressurization according to the target acceleration Gs.
- ⁇ Collision avoidance and damage mitigation control "Collision avoidance and damage mitigation control (also called “pre-crash braking control” or “emergency braking control”)" automatically generates a braking force Fb when there is an obstacle (such as a preceding vehicle) that is likely to collide with the vehicle.
- the emergency braking control can avoid a collision between the object and the vehicle. Or, even if the collision cannot be avoided, the damage is reduced.
- the driving support device SJ determines a target acceleration Gs for the emergency braking control. Then, the braking control device SC suddenly decelerates the vehicle by performing automatic pressurization according to the target acceleration Gs. As a result, a collision between the vehicle and the obstacle is avoided, or damage in the event of a collision is reduced.
- anti-lock brake control the wheel pressure Pw is first reduced to prevent the wheels from locking, and then increased to return the wheel pressure Pw to its original state after the wheels have stopped locking.
- anti-lock brake control is performed in conjunction with the operation of the brake operating member BP. For this reason, anti-lock brake control is not included in automatic pressure control.
- the drive control (particularly the control of the rotation speed) of the electric motor MT will be described with reference to the block diagram of Fig. 2.
- the electric motor MT is a power source for increasing the wheel pressure Pw from the master pressure Pm.
- the electric motor MT is controlled based on the flow rate of the circulating flow KN required for the various automatic pressure controls described above.
- the "flow rate” indicates the change in the amount (volume) of fluid per unit time.
- the drive control of the electric motor MT is composed of a target pressure calculation block PT, a system pressure calculation block PK, a target fluid volume calculation block RT, a target flow rate calculation block QT, a target rotational speed calculation block NT, and a rotational speed feedback control block NF. These calculation processes are executed by the microprocessor MP of the brake controller ECU.
- the target pressure calculation block PT calculates the target pressure Pt required for automatic pressure control based on various signals such as the acceleration operation amount Aa, braking operation amount Ba, steering operation amount Ha, wheel speed Vw, yaw rate Yr, longitudinal acceleration Gx, lateral acceleration Gy, target acceleration Gs, and master pressure Pm.
- the "target pressure Pt" is a target value corresponding to the wheel pressure Pw (actual value) and is determined for each wheel cylinder CW.
- the target pressure Pt is calculated individually for each wheel WH based on the steering operation amount Ha, braking operation amount Ba, vehicle speed Vx (calculated from wheel speed Vw), yaw rate Yr, lateral acceleration Gy, etc., so as to stabilize the vehicle behavior.
- the target pressure Pt corresponding to the front wheel on the outside of the turning wheel of the vehicle is determined to be relatively larger than the target pressure Pt for the other wheels. This creates a yawing moment that acts outward in the turning direction, and stabilization is achieved.
- the target pressure Pt is calculated based on the wheel speed Vw, etc., to suppress spinning of the drive wheels.
- the drive wheels located on the left and right sides of the vehicle are connected via a differential device (differential gear).
- emergency braking control is executed as the automatic pressure control, the target pressure Pt is calculated based on the braking operation amount Ba and the target acceleration Gs so that collision with an obstacle can be avoided, etc. Even if the brake operating member BP is operated, emergency braking control is executed.
- stabilization control, traction control, and crawl control the target pressure Pt differs for each wheel WH, but in cruise control and emergency braking control, the target pressure Pt can be determined to be the same for all wheels WH.
- the larger (i.e., maximum value) of the two target pressures Pt i.e., the target pressures Pt corresponding to the left and right wheels
- Pk MAX (Pt)
- the wheel pressure Pw is adjusted only by the pressure regulating valve UA to approach and match the target pressure Pt.
- the wheel pressure Pw is adjusted by the inlet valve VI and the outlet valve VO to approach and match the target pressure Pt.
- the "predetermined pressure pe” is a predetermined value (constant) that is set in advance. In either case, the system pressure Pk is determined based on the maximum value of the target pressure Pt.
- the target pressure Pt is smaller than the system pressure Pk in all wheels WH (particularly the wheel cylinder CW), so the wheel pressure Pw is adjusted by the inlet valve VI and the outlet valve VO to approach and match the target pressure Pt.
- the actual fluid volume Rm is calculated based on the master pressure Pm and a preset calculation map Zrt.
- the “actual fluid volume Rm” is the amount of fluid already supplied to the wheel cylinder CW in order to increase the fluid pressure from “0 (zero)” to the master pressure Pm.
- the “calculation map Zrt” is the relationship between the amount of fluid consumed by the braking device SX (the amount of fluid consumed by the rigidity of the brake caliper, friction members, etc., also called the “consumption fluid volume”) and the wheel pressure Pw. This relationship (i.e., the calculation map Zrt) is called the "fluid consumption characteristic.”
- the required fluid volume Rw is calculated based on the system pressure Pk and a preset calculation map Zrt (fluid volume consumption characteristics).
- the "required fluid volume Rw” is the amount of fluid required to increase the fluid pressure from “0 (zero)” to the system pressure Pk.
- the “target fluid volume Rt” is the amount of fluid required to increase the fluid pressure from the master pressure Pm to the system pressure Pk. In other words, by moving an amount of fluid equivalent to the target fluid volume Rt toward the wheel cylinder CW, the discharge pressure Pp is increased from the master pressure Pm to the system pressure Pk.
- the "target rotation speed Nt" is a target value corresponding to the rotation speed Ne (actual value and estimated value) of the electric motor MT.
- the required rotation speed Ns is subjected to a smoothing process (i.e., a filter process).
- the smoothing process removes high-frequency noise from the required rotation speed Ns and reduces temporal fluctuations.
- the larger of the two required rotation speeds Ns after the smoothing process i.e., the maximum value
- the target rotation speed Nt is determined to be larger as the target flow rate Qt increases.
- the target rotation speed Nt takes into consideration the minimum flow rate of the pressure regulating valve UA and the minimum rotation speed of the electric motor MT.
- the "minimum flow rate” is the minimum flow rate required for the pressure regulating valve UA to function.
- the “minimum rotation speed” is the minimum value of the speed at which the electric motor MT can rotate stably.
- a lower limit rotation speed nt (a predetermined value set in advance) is set for the target rotation speed Nt. In other words, if the target rotation speed Nt is equal to or higher than the lower limit rotation speed nt, no restriction is imposed by the lower limit rotation speed nt, and the calculated target rotation speed Nt is used as is. On the other hand, if the target rotation speed Nt is less than the lower limit rotation speed nt, the target rotation speed Nt is determined to be the lower limit rotation speed nt.
- the rotational speed feedback control block NF vector control is performed based on the target rotational speed Nt (target value) and the motor rotational speed Ne (estimated value) so that the motor rotational speed Ne approaches and matches the target rotational speed Nt.
- vector control the motor current is separated into a current component that generates torque (q-axis current) and a current component that generates magnetic flux in the rotor (d-axis current), and each is controlled independently.
- the rotational speed feedback control block NF performs sensorless vector control (also simply called “sensorless control”).
- sensorless control the signal of the rotational angle sensor (detected value of the rotational angle) is not used in the above vector control.
- target voltages Vdc and Vqc for the d-axis and q-axis are calculated based on the motor estimated rotation angle Ke and the motor current Im (a collective term for the U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase currents Imu, Imv, and Imw). Then, based on the target voltages Vdc and Vqc, the motor drive signal Mt (a collective term for the U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase drive signals Mtu, Mtv, and Mtw) for driving the switching elements of the drive circuit DR is calculated.
- the rotational speed feedback control block NF determines whether or not the electric motor MT has lost synchronism. If a loss of synchronism has occurred, the determination flag FL is set to "1" as the determination result. On the other hand, if a loss of synchronism has not occurred, the determination flag FL is set to "0.”
- the d-axis and q-axis are estimated and vector control (i.e., sensorless vector control) is performed.
- vector control i.e., sensorless vector control
- the control axes estimated as the d-axis and q-axis of the rotating coordinates are called the "estimated d-axis and q-axis.”
- the error between the actual (true) d-axis and q-axis and the estimated d-axis and q-axis is called the "axis error eK (angle error)."
- the rotation speed feedback control block NF is composed of a command current calculation block IC, a command voltage calculation block VC, a first coordinate transformation block ZC, a second coordinate transformation block ZS, a rotation speed estimation block NE, a drive signal calculation block ME, and a step-out judgment block BH.
- the command current calculation block IC calculates the estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc based on the target rotation speed Nt (target value) and the estimated rotation speed Ne (actual value, estimated value).
- the "estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc" are the command values of the currents on the estimated d-axis and q-axis.
- the command current calculation block IC includes an initial position determination block KO.
- the initial position Ko of the electric motor MT is first determined by the initial position determination block KO.
- the "initial position Ko" is the position of the rotor at the time when the electric motor MT is started. For example, in the process of determining the initial position Ko, an external disturbance is superimposed to converge the axis error eK to 0° (the position where the d-axis and the N pole overlap) or 180° (the position where the d-axis and the S pole overlap).
- the command current calculation block IC calculates the estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc.
- the "estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc" are target values of the currents in the estimated d-axis and q-axis. Specifically, first, the estimated rotation speed Ne calculated in the rotation speed estimation block NE (described later) is subtracted from the target rotation speed Nt.
- the command current calculation block IC calculates the estimated q-axis command current Iqc that the estimated q-axis output current Iqs (described later) should follow based on the estimated d-axis command current Idc, etc. In other words, the command current calculation block IC calculates the command currents Idc and Iqc on the estimated d-axis and q-axis so that the rotation speed error eN becomes "0" and the estimated rotation speed Ne matches the target rotation speed Nt.
- the command voltage calculation block VC calculates the estimated d-axis and q-axis command voltages Vdc and Vqc (target values) based on the estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc (target values) and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs (actual values).
- the command voltage calculation block VC calculates the estimated d-axis and q-axis command voltages Vdc and Vqc so that the estimated d-axis and q-axis current errors "Idc-Ids" and “Iqc-Iqs" are both "0" and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs match the estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc.
- command voltages Vcu, Vcv, Vcw (target values) for the U, V, and W phases are calculated based on the estimated d-axis and q-axis command voltages Vdc, Vqc (target values).
- the estimated d-axis and q-axis command voltages Vdc, Vqc are coordinate transformed from two phases to three phases based on the estimated rotation angle Ke calculated in the rotation speed estimation block NE, thereby determining the command voltages Vcu, Vcv, Vcw for the U, V, and W phases.
- the drive signal calculation block ME calculates the drive signals Mtu, Mtv, and Mtw for the electric motor MT based on the U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase command voltages Vcu, Vcv, and Vcw.
- the three-phase (U-phase, V-phase, and W-phase) drive signals Mtu, Mtv, and Mtw are collectively referred to as the "motor drive signal Mt.”
- PWM control pulse width modulation control
- Power is supplied to the electric motor MT in response to the PWM control, and the electric motor MT is driven.
- switching elements MOS-FETs, IGBTs, etc.
- Mtu, Mtv, Mtw the motor drive signal
- Imu, Imu, and Imw also called “motor currents"
- the drive circuit DR is provided with a motor current sensor IM to detect motor currents Imu, Imu, Imw supplied to the electric motor MT. Since the phase difference between the supply currents Imu, Imu, Imw of the U, V, and W phases is known, the motor current sensor IM may detect the motor currents of two of the three phases and estimate the motor current of the remaining phase. In other words, the motor current sensor IM detects the motor currents of at least two of the three phases, thereby detecting the currents actually supplied to the three phases.
- the three-phase motor currents Imu, Imu, Imw are collectively referred to as "motor current Im.”
- the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs are calculated based on the motor current Im.
- the "estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs" are the currents actually supplied (output) to the estimated d-axis and q-axis.
- the three-phase motor current Im detected by the motor current sensor IM is coordinate transformed from three phases to two phases based on the estimated rotation angle Ke calculated in the rotation speed estimation block NE, thereby determining the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs.
- the "estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs" are the current values actually output to the estimated d-axis and q-axis. Therefore, the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs (actual values) correspond to the estimated d-axis and q-axis command currents Idc and Iqc (target values).
- an estimated rotation speed Ne and an estimated rotation angle Ke are calculated based on the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs.
- the estimated rotation speed Ne is first calculated. Then, the estimated rotation speed Ne is integrated to determine the estimated rotation angle Ke.
- a known method such as a current draw method, a harmonic superposition method, a magnetic flux observer method, or an extended induced voltage method is used.
- the control amount of the PLL control when the axis error eK is controlled to follow "0 (target value)" is determined as the estimated rotation speed Ne.
- the PLL control Phase Locked Loop
- feedback control is applied based on the periodic signal that is input, and a phase-synchronized signal is output from a separate oscillator.
- the axis error eK is input to the PLL control block.
- the axis error eK is multiplied by the proportional gain Kp to calculate the proportional term.
- the axis error eK is time integrated and multiplied by the integral gain Ki to calculate the integral term.
- the method of calculating the axis error eK (angular error between the actual q-axis and the estimated q-axis) is selected based on the motor rotation speed.
- the target rotation speed Nt and the estimated rotation speed Ne is used for the motor rotation speed.
- the axis error eK is determined based on the harmonic superposition method.
- the harmonic superposition method also called the "disturbance superposition method”
- a pulse (or sinusoidal) high-frequency voltage is superposed (applied) on the estimated d-axis command voltage Vdc.
- the axis error eK is estimated based on the change in amplitude of the high-frequency component of the estimated q-axis output voltage Iqs at this time.
- the axis error eK is calculated based on the extended induced voltage method.
- the axis error eK (angle error) is calculated by estimating the induced voltage from the voltage and current. Specifically, the axis error eK is estimated based on the estimated rotation speed Ne (previous value in the calculation cycle), the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids, Iqs, and the estimated d-axis and q-axis command voltages Vdc, Vqc.
- the estimated rotation speed Ne calculated by the rotation speed estimation block NE is input to the command current calculation block IC and the judgment unit BH.
- the estimated rotation angle Ke calculated by the rotation speed estimation block NE is input to the first and second coordinate transformation blocks ZC and ZS.
- the out-of-step judgment block BH judges whether or not the electric motor MT has lost synchronism.
- the synchronization between the rotating magnetic field and the rotor is estimated, so out-of-step may occur under high load or when the load changes suddenly.
- the out-of-step judgment block BH judges whether or not out-of-step has occurred based on the estimated rotation speed Ne, the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc, and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs.
- a judgment signal FL (a signal indicating the presence or absence of out-of-step) is output to the command current calculation block IC.
- the judgment signal FL is transmitted as a control flag (also called a "judgment flag").
- "judgment flag” a control flag that indicates that out-of-step has not occurred
- the estimated rotation speed Ne, the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc, and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs are input to the out-of-step determination block BH.
- the determination unit BH calculates a deviation hV (voltage deviation) between the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc and a determination voltage Vqj calculated from the estimated rotation speed Ne and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs.
- the voltage deviation hV is then compared with a determination threshold value Hs to determine whether the electric motor MT (sensorless motor) is out of step.
- the out-of-step determination block BH is composed of a determination voltage calculation block VJ, a voltage deviation calculation block HV, a determination threshold value calculation block HS, and a determination processing block HN.
- a determination voltage calculation block VJ calculates a determination voltage Vqj based on the estimated rotation speed Ne and the estimated d-axis and q-axis output currents Ids and Iqs.
- the "determination voltage Vqj" is a voltage that should be applied to the estimated q-axis when it is assumed that the electric motor MT is not out of step and is rotating at the estimated rotation speed Ne. Specifically, the determination voltage Vqj is determined based on the following equation (1).
- Vqj R ⁇ Iqs+Ne ⁇ ( ⁇ +Ld ⁇ Ids) ...Formula (1)
- R represents the resistance value (nominal value) of the electric motor MT
- ⁇ represents the interlinkage magnetic flux (nominal value) of the electric motor MT
- Ld represents the d-axis inductance (nominal value) of the electric motor MT.
- the second term Sv2 corresponding to the back electromotive voltage in the electric motor MT is calculated based on the estimated rotation speed Ne and the estimated d-axis output current Ids. The sum of the first term Sv1 and the second term Sv2 is then determined as the judgment voltage Vqj.
- a voltage deviation calculation block HV calculates a voltage deviation hV, which is a difference between the determined voltage Vqj and the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc, based on the determined voltage Vqj and the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc.
- the judgement voltage Vqj is a voltage corresponding to the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc in a state where step-out has not occurred and the electric motor MT is operating properly at the estimated rotation speed Ne.
- the voltage deviation hV which is the difference between the judgement voltage Vqj and the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc, is a state quantity that indicates the degree (level) of step-out. The greater the degree of step-out of the electric motor MT, the greater the calculated voltage deviation hV.
- the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc and the judged voltage Vqj are equal, and the voltage deviation hV is "0".
- the estimated q-axis command voltage Vqc does not include the second term Sv2 corresponding to the back electromotive force, and the voltage deviation hV is equal to the second term Sv2.
- the judgment threshold calculation block HS calculates the judgment threshold Hs based on the estimated rotation speed Ne and the calculation map Zhs.
- the "judgment threshold Hs" is a threshold for determining whether or not step-out has occurred.
- the judgment threshold Hs is determined according to the preset calculation map Zhs so that it increases as the estimated rotation speed Ne increases.
- the judgment processing block HN the presence or absence of out-of-step is judged based on a comparison between the voltage deviation hV and the judgment threshold value Hs. This judgment is called “out-of-step judgment.”
- out-of-step judgment is performed based on "whether the voltage deviation hV reaches the judgment threshold value Hs.” Specifically, if the voltage deviation hV is less than the judgment threshold value Hs, the occurrence of out-of-step is denied.
- the time Tx (referred to as "continuation time") during which this state (i.e., the state in which the voltage deviation hV reaches the judgment threshold value Hs) continues is counted from the time when this is first satisfied (the corresponding calculation period). Then, when the duration Tx of the state of "hV ⁇ Hs" reaches the judgment time tx, the occurrence of out-of-step is confirmed.
- the drive control of the pressure regulating valve UA will be described with reference to the block diagram of FIG. 5.
- the pressure regulating valve UA throttles the discharge flow of the fluid pump HP (i.e., the circulation flow KN generated in the return flow passage HK), thereby adjusting the discharge pressure Pp of the fluid pump HP.
- the wheel pressure Pw is increased from the master pressure Pm (the suction pressure of the fluid pump HP).
- the pressure regulation by the pressure regulating valve UA depends on the flow rate Qu (pressure regulating valve flow rate) of the brake fluid BF flowing through the pressure regulating valve UA.
- the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu (described later) is determined based on the estimated rotation speed Ne.
- the estimated rotation speed Ne is not output, or the accuracy of the estimated rotation speed Ne is significantly reduced.
- the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu is determined based on a specific rotation speed Nd (described later) instead of the estimated rotation speed Ne.
- the drive control of the pressure regulating valve UA is composed of a target differential pressure calculation block ST, a valve flow rate calculation block QU, a target current calculation block IT, and a current feedback control block IF. These calculation processes are executed by the microprocessor MP of the brake controller ECU.
- the "target differential pressure St” is a target value corresponding to the differential pressure (actual value of the hydraulic pressure difference) between the master pressure Pm (actual value) and the discharge pressure Pp (actual value) to be generated by the pressure regulating valve UA.
- the hydraulic pressure difference is generated between the suction pressure Pm (master pressure) and the discharge pressure Pp by the pressure regulating valve UA
- the target differential pressure St is the target value of this hydraulic pressure difference.

- the valve flow rate Qu is calculated based on the estimated rotation speed Ne (actual value).
- the discharge flow rate Qp (ultimately, the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu) is calculated based on the specific rotation speed Nd.
- the specific rotation speed Nd is determined based on the estimated rotation speed Ne at the time when loss of synchronism is first detected (i.e., the calculation cycle when the determination flag FL transitions from "0" to "1").
- the estimated rotation speed Ne overlaps with the target rotation speed Nt (see situation (A) in the figure).
- the discharge flow rate Qp is determined based on the estimated rotation speed Ne and the discharge amount per revolution of the fluid pump HP.
- a specific rotation speed Nd is calculated so that it gradually decreases over time T.
- the "specific rotation speed Nd” is a state quantity (state variable) related to the rotation speed of the electric motor MT that is used in place of the estimated rotation speed Ne when a loss of synchronism is determined.
- the specific rotation speed Nd is determined as a time series pattern that decreases from the estimated rotation speed Ne (value ne) at the time of loss of synchronism determination to "0 (motor stopped)" at a predetermined gradient dn (see situation (B) in the diagram).
- the predetermined gradient dn is a predetermined value (constant) that has been set in advance.
- the discharge flow rate Qp is determined based on the specific rotation speed Nd and the discharge amount per revolution of the fluid pump HP.
- the discharge amount per revolution of the fluid pump HP is multiplied by the specific rotation speed Nd to determine the discharge flow rate Qp.
- the specific rotation speed Nd may be decreased in stages from the estimated rotation speed Ne (value ne) at the time of the out-of-step determination (see diagram situation (C)). In any case, the specific rotation speed Nd is determined so as to gradually decrease from the estimated rotation speed Ne at the time of the out-of-step determination, based on the estimated rotation speed Ne at the time of the out-of-step determination. Note that the specific rotation speed Nd does not need to be decreased to "0 (stop of rotational motion)" and may be determined so as to decrease to a predetermined rotation speed no.
- the predetermined rotation speed no is a predetermined value (constant) that is set in advance.
- the electric motor MT is restarted and the out-of-step state is resolved.
- the judgment flag FL is reset from "1" to "0.”
- the estimated rotation speed Ne is increased toward the target rotation speed Nt (value ng in the diagram) (see situation (D) in the diagram).
- the specific rotation speed Nd is not used to calculate the discharge flow rate Qp, and the discharge flow rate Qp is calculated based on the estimated rotation speed Ne.
- the "target current It” is a target value corresponding to the current Ia (actual value) supplied to the pressure regulating valve UA.
- the target current It is determined so that it increases as the target differential pressure St increases, and the target current It decreases as the target differential pressure St decreases.
- the target current It is determined so that it decreases as the valve flow rate Qu increases, and the target current It increases as the valve flow rate Qu decreases.
- the target current calculation block IT when the target differential pressure St is large, the target current It is calculated to be larger than when the target differential pressure St is small. Conversely, when the target differential pressure St is small, the target current It is calculated to be smaller than when the target differential pressure St is large. Also, when the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu is large, the target current It is calculated to be smaller than when the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu is small. Conversely, when the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu is small, the target current It is calculated to be larger than when the pressure regulating valve flow rate Qu is large.
- the valve flow rate Qu passing through the pressure regulating valve UA is calculated based on the discharge flow rate Qp discharged by the fluid pump HP.
- the target current It (and therefore the supply current Ia) is determined to be smaller the larger the valve flow rate Qu
- the target current It (and therefore the supply current Ia) is determined to be larger the smaller the valve flow rate Qu.
- the larger the valve flow rate Qu the larger (wider) the opening amount of the pressure regulating valve UA is, and the smaller the valve flow rate Qu, the smaller (narrower) the opening amount of the pressure regulating valve UA is.
- the specific rotation speed Nd is used to calculate the discharge flow rate Qp.
- the specific rotation speed Nd is calculated so as to gradually decrease from the estimated rotation speed Ne at the time of out-of-step determination.
- power supply to the electric motor MT is temporarily stopped so that the sensorless control is reset.
- the rotation speed (true value) of the electric motor MT gradually decreases due to the inertia of the electric motor MT, the fluid pump HP, etc. Taking this situation into consideration, a predetermined gradient dn that forms a time series pattern of the specific rotation speed Nd is determined.
- the specific rotation speed Nd is set to represent the change in the motor rotation speed when the brushless motor is restarted due to out-of-step.
- the predetermined gradient dn is experimentally and analytically set in advance according to the inertia of the electric motor MT and the fluid pump HP. Since the specific rotation speed Nd correctly represents the motor rotation speed when the electric motor MT is restarted, excess or deficiency in the differential pressure adjustment is suppressed.
- a front-rear type configuration was used for the two brake systems.
- a diagonal type (also called "X type”) brake system can be used.
- X type also called "X type”

- a disc-type braking device SX is used.
- a drum-type braking device SX is used.
- the rotating member KT fixed to the wheel WH is a brake drum, and the friction member is a brake lining attached to the brake shoe.
- the fluid unit HU equipped with the electric motor MT is provided between the master cylinder CM and the wheel cylinder CW.
- the fluid unit HU may be configured to press the master piston PG (see the pressure adjustment unit YA in the publication).
- the brake booster BB is omitted, and a hydraulic chamber is provided on the side of the master piston PG facing the brake operating member BP. The discharge pressure Pp is then supplied to the hydraulic chamber.
- the target rotation speed Nt is determined based on the target pressure Pt.
- the target rotation speed Nt may be determined as a constant rotation speed na.
- the target rotation speed Nt may be determined in two stages using two different first and second rotation speeds nb and nc (constant values). Specifically, during a period of a predetermined time ta from the start of execution of the automatic pressurization control, the target rotation speed Nt is determined to be a constant first rotation speed nb.
- the target rotation speed Nt is determined to be a second rotation speed nc that is smaller than the first rotation speed nb (i.e., the relationship of "nc ⁇ nb").
- the rotation speeds na, nb, nc, and the predetermined time ta are predetermined values (constants) that are set in advance. Even in this configuration, the electric motor MT is controlled so that the motor rotation speed Ne (estimated value) approaches and matches the target rotation speed Nt.
- the required rotation speed Ns is smoothed so that the target rotation speed Nt (and thus the actual motor rotation speed) is smooth.
- the smoothing process can be performed on any of the state variables Mj (also called “control variables") for controlling the rotation speed of the electric motor MT.
- the "control variables Mj" are variables for controlling the motor rotation speed Na.
- the control variables Mj (also called “control parameters") are state quantities (variables) used in various calculations from the target pressure Pt to the target rotation speed Nt. For example, at least one of the target pressure Pt, system pressure Pk, target fluid volume Rt, target flow rate Qt, and target rotation speed Nt is adopted as the control variable Mj.
- the control variable Mj is smoothed by a smoothing process (i.e., a filter process).
- a smoothing process i.e., a filter process
- at least one of a low-pass filter and a moving average filter is used for the smoothing process.
- the smoothing process smooths the motor rotation speed (actual value), suppressing fluctuations in the discharge flow rate Qp. As a result, unnecessary changes in the discharge pressure Pp are prevented.
- the brake control device SC controls the wheel pressure Pw of the wheel cylinder CW.
- the brake control device SC includes a brushless motor MT (sensorless type brushless motor) that does not have a rotation angle sensor, a fluid pump HP driven by the brushless motor MT, a pressure regulating valve UA that adjusts the discharge pressure Pp of the fluid pump HP, and a controller ECU that drives the brushless motor MT by sensorless control.
- the controller ECU synchronizes the sensorless motor MT with an estimated speed Ne (estimated rotation speed) estimated from the motor current Im, and executes vector control (i.e., sensorless control).
- the pressure regulating valve UA is controlled based on the estimated speed Ne in the sensorless control.
- the controller ECU judges whether the brushless motor MT is out of step (whether the brushless motor MT is synchronized or not).
- the pressure regulating valve UA is controlled based on the estimated speed Ne.
- the pressure regulating valve UA is controlled based on the specific speed Nd.
- the specific speed Nd (specific rotation speed) is determined so as to gradually decrease from the estimated speed Ne at the time t0 when the out-of-step is judged.
- the specific speed Nd is determined so as to decrease at a preset predetermined gradient dn as time T passes.
- the predetermined gradient dn is a constant determined according to the inertia of the brushless motor MT and the fluid pump HP.
- the valve flow rate Qu is calculated based on the discharge flow rate Qp calculated from the estimated speed Ne.
- the valve flow rate Qu is calculated based on the discharge flow rate Qp calculated from the specific speed Nd. Regardless of whether out-of-step has occurred, the supply current Ia of the pressure regulating valve UA is adjusted so that it becomes smaller as the valve flow rate Qu increases. In other words, when the valve flow rate Qu is large, the supply current Ia of the pressure regulating valve UA is made smaller than when the valve flow rate Qu is small.
- the valve flow rate Qu is calculated based on the uncertain estimated speed Ne, the actually generated differential pressure Sa may be excessive or insufficient.
- the valve flow rate Qu is calculated based on the specific speed Nd instead of the estimated speed Ne.
- the specific speed Nd is specified to decrease at a predetermined gradient dn, and appropriately represents the change in the motor rotation speed (true value) when the brushless motor MT is restarted. This suppresses excessive or insufficient hydraulic pressure adjustment (differential pressure generation by the pressure regulating valve UA) when the brake control device loses synchronism.

Abstract
Description

制動装置SX(=SXf、SXr)は、回転部材KT(例えば、ブレーキディスク)、及び、ブレーキキャリパ(非図示)にて構成される。回転部材KT(=KTf、KTr)は、車両の車輪WH(=WHf、WHr)に固定される。
調圧弁UAによって制動液BFの循環流KNが絞られると、オリフィス効果によって、調圧弁UAの下部の液圧Pp(流体ポンプHPの吐出部の液圧であるため「吐出圧」ともいう)が、調圧弁UAの上部の液圧Pm(マスタ圧、流体ポンプHPの吸入部の液圧であるため「吸入圧」ともいう)から増加される。
また、ホイール路HW(=HWf、HWr)は、ホイールシリンダCW(=CWf、CWr)に接続される。

系統圧演算ブロックPKにて、目標圧Pt(=Ptf、Ptr)に基づいて、系統圧Pk(=Pkf、Pkr)が演算される。
目標液量演算ブロックRTにて、マスタ圧Pm(=Pmf、Pmr)、及び、系統圧Pk(=Pkf、Pkr)に基づいて、目標液量Rt(=Rtf、Rtr)が演算される。
目標流量演算ブロックQTにて、目標液量Rt(=Rtf、Rtr)に基づいて、目標流量Qt(=Qtf、Qtr)が演算される。
Vqj=R・Iqs+Ne・(φ+Ld・Ids) …式(1)
Vqj=R・Iqs+Ne・(φ+Ld・Ids) …式(1)
hV=Vqj-Vqc …式(2)
hV=Vqj-Vqc …式(2)
目標差圧演算ブロックSTにて、系統圧Pk(=Pkf、Pkr)、及び、マスタ圧Pm(=Pmf、Pmr)に基づいて、目標差圧St(=Stf、Str)が演算される。 目標差圧Stは、制動系統BK(=BKf、BKr)の夫々で、系統圧Pk(吐出圧Ppの目標値)からマスタ圧Pm(実際値)が減算されて決定される。
電流フィードバック制御ブロックIFにて、目標電流It(目標値)、及び、供給電流Ia(実際値)に基づいて、供給電流Ia(=Iaf、Iar)が、目標電流It(=Itf、Itr)に近付き、一致するように調圧弁駆動信号Ua(=Uaf、Uar)が決定される。
