- 1 is a chart showing the results of detailed evaluation I of Examples 1-7 to 1-11.
- One embodiment of the present disclosure is a fragrance composition containing a tree-like aroma component and specific components (A) and (B).
- components (A) and (B) can be said to be modular components for use in combination with the tree-like aroma component, which is a skeletal component.
- one embodiment of the present disclosure may be a modular component for use in combination with the tree-like aroma component, which is a skeletal component, to form a fragrance composition.
- a “module component” is a component used in small amounts in combination with a skeleton component of a fragrance composition, i.e., a component that determines the fragrance system (or fragrance tone) of the fragrance composition, and is a component that can impart additional characteristics to the fragrance of the fragrance composition obtained by combining the skeleton component and the modular component while maintaining the fragrance system (fragrance tone) of the skeleton component, or can enhance or reduce the fragrance characteristics of the skeleton component.
- the fragrance system or fragrance tone may be a classification of fragrances expressed with expressions such as woody, floral, fruity, citrus, green, etc.
- a "module component” may also be called a module composition, an additive component, an additive composition, etc.
- the fragrance composition according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may provide a tree-like (woody or woody) scent.
- specific examples of the tree-like scent of this tree-like fragrance composition may be those that primarily give the impression of the scent of cypress, cedarwood, sandalwood, cypress, cedar, pine, Japanese cypress, etc., or a mixture of two or more of these.
- the tree-like fragrance component which is the backbone component of the fragrance composition according to this embodiment, is not particularly limited as long as it is a fragrance component that provides the above-mentioned tree-like fragrance tone.
- the fragrance component in this embodiment may be a fragrance component obtained from natural trees, a component that provides a tree-like fragrance obtained by blending compounds, or a mixture thereof.
- the tree-like fragrance component is preferably an essential oil obtained from natural trees, or a composition containing an essential oil, because even a small amount can provide a sufficient tree-like fragrance and it is easy to obtain.
- one or more of cypress essential oil and cedarwood essential oil are preferably used. These tree-like essential oils are available through Aroma & Beauty Neroli (Yamamoto Fragrance Co., Ltd.), etc.
- a skeletal component which is a tree-like aroma component
- a specific modular component it is possible to provide a tree-like fragrance composition capable of providing a scent having the characteristics of live wood.
- a tree-like fragrance composition capable of providing a scent having the characteristics of live wood, which is composed of a skeletal component, which is a tree-like aroma component, combined with a specific modular component.
- a cypress-like aroma component e.g., cypress essential oil
- an aroma can be provided in which the characteristics of raw wood are enhanced while maintaining the characteristics of the cypress scent.
- a tree-like aroma component other than the cypress-like aroma component e.g., essential oil of a tree other than cypress
- an aroma in which the characteristics of raw cypress wood are enhanced can also be provided.
- the product does not contain a cypress-like aroma component, it is possible to provide an aroma with strong characteristics of raw cypress wood.
- the characteristic scent of raw cypress is the scent immediately after cutting the trunk of a living cypress, and/or the scent that is smelt when the branches and leaves of a living cypress are rubbed.
- the strength of the characteristics of raw cypress can be evaluated by sensory evaluation by a trained expert panel, or by comparative testing with actual raw cypress. In addition, sensory evaluation of the scent may be performed for more detailed items, and the characteristics of raw cypress may be evaluated based on the results.
- the inventors have found that when evaluating seven items, namely "citrus-like refreshing smell,” “leafy green smell,” “fresh floral smell,” “almond-like resinous smell,” “refreshing cool smell,” “wood chip-like refreshing smell,” and “earthy woody smell,” the strength of all three of “leafy green smell,” “fresh floral smell,” and “almond-like resinous smell” is related to the strength of the characteristics of raw cypress. Therefore, the strength of the characteristics of raw cypress wood can be objectively evaluated by assessing "leafy green smell,” “fresh floral smell,” and “almond-like resinous smell.”
- the tree-like fragrance composition of this embodiment not only has the strong characteristic scent of raw cypress wood as described above, but also gives the user who smells the composition a feeling of refreshment (also called a forest bathing feeling) as if they were actually taking a walk in the forest.
- a feeling of refreshment is a feeling of being physically and/or mentally refreshed.
- the fragrance composition of this embodiment can give the user who smells the scent a feeling of forest bathing.
- the scent has a strong freshness (characteristic of a moist, moist scent felt when taking a walk in the forest), and the impact of the tree-like scent top note is also great.
