Abstract

本発明の親水滑水化処理剤(a)は、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基及び少なくとも1つの加水分解性基が結合した有機ケイ素化合物(A)、金属アルコキシド(B)、及び分子量1000以下の親水性鎖含有基を有するシリコーンオイル(C)を含有する。或いは、前記処理剤は、両末端のケイ素原子に加水分解性基を有するアルコキシ基がそれぞれ3つ結合した有機ケイ素化合物(A2)と、金属アルコキシド(B)とを含有する。 前記親水滑水化処理剤(a)を基材表面に接触させる工程(2)により、従来に比してより高い親水性と滑水性の両立が可能であるとともに、優れた加水分解安定性を有する親水滑水性皮膜を有する基材(c)を形成することができる。 さらに前記基材(c)にアルカリ処理または酸処理(4)を施すことにより、親水性及び/又は滑水性をより高めることができる。

Description

親水滑水化処理剤、前記親水滑水化処理剤を用いた表面処理方法、及び親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材
 本発明は、親水滑水化処理剤、前記親水滑水化処理剤を用いた表面処理方法、及び親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材に関する。
 基材表面に親水性と同時に滑水性を付与する技術が求められている。
 例えば、アルミニウムを用いた熱交換器において、フィン表面への凝縮水の付着に起因する騒音の発生、水滴の飛散、カビの発生による汚染を抑制するためには、濡れ性が大きい(親水性が高い)とともに、付着した水滴が微小なうちに速やかに滑落して除去される(滑水性が高い)表面処理を施すことが好ましい。
 特許文献1には、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、金属アルコキシド(B)と、を所定のモル比で含む親水滑水化処理剤を用いて親水性及び滑水性を有する皮膜を基材上に形成することが記載されている。
 非特許文献1には、エアコン用プレコートフィン材の初期親水性及び親水持続性の指標として、2μLの純水を滴下した水滴両端の水接触角が30°以下の目標数値が挙げられ、また、初期滑水性及び滑水性持続性の指標として、10μLの水滴を滴下したフィン材を1°/secの速度で傾け、前進端が0.2mm動いた時の角度(転落角)が13°以下の目標数値が挙げられている。しかしながら、当該数値を達成するための具体的な手段は示されていない。

 特許文献1には、該文献に記載の処理剤を用いて形成された親水滑水性皮膜の濡れ性及び滑水性について、親水性の指標である皮膜に対する水滴の接触角θが40°以下であり、水滴除去性を示す転落角θtが、10μLの水滴、傾き速度1°/秒に対して30°以下であったことが記載されている。
 しかしながら、非特許文献1の目標数値からみて、皮膜の親水性、滑水性は未だ十分なものでなかった。
 また、水滴又は水膜に接することを前提とする基材に形成する親水滑水性皮膜には加水分解安定性が欠かせないが、特許文献1記載の処理剤を用いて形成された親水滑水性皮膜は、加水分解安定性の不足に起因して、水に接する時間の経過とともに親水性が上がるものの、滑水性は大幅に悪化する場合があることが判明した。
 本発明は、上記の状況に鑑み、特許文献1に記載の親水滑水性皮膜に比して、より高い親水性と滑水性を両立するとともに、優れた加水分解安定性を有する親水滑水性皮膜を提供することを課題とする。
 本発明者らは、上記課題を解決するため鋭意検討を行った結果、親水滑水化処理剤に、有機ケイ素化合物と金属アルコキシドに親水性鎖含有基を有する分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイルを混合すること、あるいは、特定の有機ケイ素化合物と金属アルコキシドを用いることにより、従来に比してより高い親水性と滑水性の両立が可能であるとともに、優れた加水分解安定性を有する親水滑水性皮膜が得られることを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。
 すなわち、上記課題を解決するための手段は、以下の態様を含む。

 本発明によれば、従来技術に比してより高い親水性と滑水性を両立するとともに、優れた加水分解安定性を有する親水滑水性皮膜を基材上に形成することができる。

 本発明は、親水滑水化処理剤、前記親水滑水化処理剤を用いた表面処理方法、及び親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材を提供するものである。
 以下、本発明について、その最良の形態を含めて、さらに具体的な本発明の実施形態(以下、「本実施形態」ともいう。)について説明するが、本発明は、以下の実施形態に限定されるものではなく、特許請求の範囲に記載の技術的思想の範囲内であれば、その他の様々な実施の形態が含まれる。
 なお、数値範囲等を「~」を用いて表す場合、その下限及び上限として記載された数値をも含む意味である。
 <シリコーンオイル(C)を含む親水滑水化処理剤>
 本実施形態の一つは、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、金属アルコキシド(B)と、以下の式(1)で表される、分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)、を含む親水滑水化処理剤である。
 (式中、Rは、親水性鎖含有基を表し、Rは、それぞれ独立に炭素数1~5のアルキル基を表し、m、nは整数であり、m/nは1~6である。)
 [シリコーンオイル(C)]
 本実施形態において、分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)の式(1)におけるRは、R-O(CHCHO)-CHであることが好ましい。以下、このシリコーンオイルをPEG変性シリコーンオイルともいう。PEG変性シリコーンオイルの分子量が1000を超えると、親水性鎖含有基の運動性が低下するために動的な親水性が低下する。また、分子量が1000以下であっても、親水性鎖含有基の運動性を維持するためには、添加量は少ない方が好ましい。
 分子量が1000以下であるPEG変性シリコーンオイルとしては、例えば、Gelest,Inc.のDBE-712(分子量600、PEG比率60~70%)、DBE-814(分子量1000、PEG比率80~85%)等が好ましい。なお、PEG比率とは、PEG変性シリコーンオイルの分子量に占めるシロキサン(Si-O-Si)部位を除いた部位の分子量であるから、実質的にPEG変性シリコーンオイルに占めるPEGユニットの分子量を表す。
 また、その添加量は、皮膜化後に固形物として残る有機ケイ素化合物(A)と金属アルコキシド(B)由来の質量に対して、10質量%以下であることが好ましく、5質量%以下がより好ましく、1質量%以下が特に好ましい。
 [有機ケイ素化合物(A)]
 本実施形態において、有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している化合物である。
 ケイ素原子は、4価の元素であるため、最大で4つの基が結合する。本発明においては、4つのうちの少なくとも1つが親水性鎖含有基であり、かつ、少なくとも1つが加水分解性基となっている。したがって、ケイ素原子に結合している残りの2つの基は、特に限定されるものではなく、親水性鎖含有基、加水分解性基、あるいは、その他の任意の基であってよい。また、複数の親水性鎖含有基、または複数の加水分解性基を有する場合には、親水性鎖含有基及び加水分解性基は、互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい。
 本実施形態において、好ましい有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の式(2)で表される、1つのケイ素原子に1つの親水性鎖含有基と3つの加水分解性基を有する有機ケイ素化合物(A1)である。
(式中、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、R、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各Rは互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよく、Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基である。)
 (親水性鎖含有基)
 上記式(2)で示される有機ケイ素化合物(A)において、以下の式(4)で表される基が親水性鎖含有基に相当する。
 Rと酸素が結合している繰り返し単位の構造部分が、親水性を発揮させる役割を担う。
 Rとなる炭素数1~5のアルキレン基は、エチレン基であることが好ましい。Rがエチレン基であることにより、親水性を高くしながら、水滴除去性を確保することができる。
 上記式(4)で示される親水性鎖含有基においては、Rと酸素とが結合した単位の繰り返し数qは、通常4以上の整数であり、入手容易性の観点から、4~12の整数であることが好ましい。qが4以上であることにより、親水性を発現させる鎖長が長くなり、有機ケイ素化合物(A)の親水性が高まり、その結果、形成される親水性が十分となる。
 また、上記式(4)で示される親水性鎖含有基において、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、炭素数1~4のアルキル基が好ましく、メチル基であることがより好ましい。末端にメチル基と酸素が結合したメトキシ基が存在することにより、RがHの場合と比較して、水との水素結合を抑制することができる。
 上記式(4)で示される親水性鎖含有基において、Rはケイ素原子に結合する部分であり、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基である。Rとなる炭素数1~5のアルキレン基は、通常、直鎖状であり、直鎖状であれば、水滴除去性をより良好なものとすることができる。
 (加水分解性基)
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)における加水分解性基は、加水分解によりヒドロキシ基(シラノール基)を与える基であれば、特に限定されるものではない。また、本発明の有機ケイ素化合物(A)においては、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基がケイ素原子に結合していればよいが、3つの加水分解性基がケイ素原子に結合していることが好ましい。2つまたは3つの加水分解性基がケイ素原子に結合する場合には、加水分解性基は、互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい。
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)における加水分解性基は、金属アルコキシド(B)と反応する部位であるとともに、PEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)が加水分解されて生じるOH基や、親水滑水化処理剤が適用される基材と反応する部位ともなる。したがって、有機ケイ素化合物(A)における加水分解性基は、形成される皮膜内部と反応しつつ、皮膜を形成する基材とも反応し、形成される皮膜の基材への密着強度を高めることができる。
 本実施形態における有機ケイ素化合物(A)の加水分解性基としては、式(2)におけるO-Rが炭素数1~5のアルコキシ基であることが好ましく、メトキシ基、エトキシ基、プロポキシ基、ブトキシ基であることがより好ましく、メトキシ基、エトキシ基であることが特に好ましい。加水分解性基がメトキシ基であることにより、加水分解後に生じるアルコールが低分子となるため、基材に接触せしめた処理剤をより低温で乾燥し、皮膜化することができる。
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)の含有量は、本実施形態に係る親水滑水化処理剤において、処理剤全体に対して0.01~30質量%であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.05~20質量%であり、さらに好ましくは0.1~10質量%である。
 [金属アルコキシド(B)]
 本発明における金属アルコキシド(B)は、アルコキシ基が金属原子に結合している化合物であり、前記金属アルコキシドは、基材だけでなく、有機ケイ素化合物(A)やPEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)との密着/結合を向上させるバインダーの役割を果たす。また、親水性鎖含有基の間に金属アルコキシド(B)がスペースを形成することで親水性鎖含有基の運動性を向上させる役割も果たす。
 本実施形態における金属アルコキシド(B)は、以下の一般式(5)で表される構造を有していることが好ましい。
(式中、Mは、3価または4価の金属原子であり、Rは、互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい、炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、rは、Mの価数に応じて、3または4の整数である。)
 また、本実施形態における金属アルコキシド(B)は、上記式(5)で表される化合物の加水分解縮合物であってもよい。ここで、加水分解縮合物とは、金属アルコキシド(B)に含まれる全部または一部のアルコキシ基が、加水分解により縮合した化合物を意味する。
 金属アルコキシド(B)を構成する金属Mとしては、例えば、Al、Fe、In等の3価金属、Hf、Si、Ti、Sn、Zr等の4価金属等が挙げられる。なかでは、入手容易性及び貯蔵安定性の観点から、Siであることが好ましい。
 また、アルコキシ基R-Oは、金属Mが3価金属の場合には3個が結合し、すなわち、上記式(5)におけるrは3となる。また、金属Mが4価金属の場合には、アルコキシ基R-Oは4個が結合し、すなわち、上記式(5)におけるrは4となる。
 アルコキシ基R-Oの炭素数は、1~4であることが好ましく、基材に接触した処理剤の乾燥をより低温で行い、皮膜化を容易とするためには、炭素数が1又は2のメトキシ基又はエトキシ基であることがより好ましい。
 また、有機ケイ素化合物(A)の加水分解性基がアルコキシ基である場合には、有機ケイ素化合物(A)のアルコキシ基と、金属アルコキシド(B)のアルコキシ基は、同一であっても異なっていてもよい。
 金属アルコキシド(B)の含有量は、本実施形態に係る親水滑水化処理剤において、処理剤全体に対して0.01~30質量%であることが好ましく、より好ましくは0.05~20質量%であり、さらに好ましくは1.0~10質量%である。
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)に対しては、モル比(A/B)で0.01~0.5であることが好ましく、0 .03~0.3の範囲であることがさらに好ましい。本実施形態においては、有機ケイ素化合物(A)の鎖状の親水性鎖含有基の間に、金属アルコキシド(B)がスペースを形成することで、親水性鎖含有基の運動性が向上し、両立が困難であった親水性と水滴除去性とをバランスよく備える皮膜を形成することができる。有機ケイ素化合物(A)と金属アルコキシド(B)とのモル比(A/B)が、0.01~0.5の範囲であれば、鎖状の親水性鎖含有基の間に適切なスペースを形成することができ、その結果、親水性と水滴除去性との両立をバランスよく発現することができる。
 [その他の成分]
 本実施形態において、親水滑水化処理剤は、上記の有機ケイ素化合物(A)と金属アルコキシド(B)以外に、任意に他の成分を含んでいてもよい。他の成分としては、例えば、溶剤、触媒、添加剤等を挙げることができる。
 溶剤としては、例えば、水、または、アルコール系溶剤、エーテル系溶剤、ケトン系溶剤、エステル系溶剤、アミド系溶剤等の親水性有機溶剤、芳香族炭化水素系溶剤、飽和炭化水素系溶剤等の疎水性有機溶剤が挙げられる。これらは、単独で使用してもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。
 触媒としては、加水分解触媒として作用するものが好ましく、例えば、塩酸、硝酸、酢酸等の酸性化合物、アンモニア、アミン等の塩基性化合物、金属元素を中心金属とする有機金属化合物等が挙げられる。
 添加剤としては、例えば、酸化防止剤、防錆剤、紫外線吸収剤、光安定剤、防カビ剤、抗菌剤、生物付着防止剤、消臭剤、顔料、難燃剤、帯電防止剤等、付与したい機能を発現するものを、本発明の効果を阻害しない範囲で任意に選択して配合することができる。
 なお、本実施形態において、親水滑水化処理剤は、処理剤全体における固形分の全質量が30%以下であることが好ましく、より好ましくは20%以下であり、特に好ましくは10%程度である。
 <有機ケイ素化合物(A2)を含む親水滑水化処理剤>
 本実施形態の他の一つは、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、金属アルコキシド(B)と、を含み、前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の式(3)で表される有機ケイ素化合物(A2)である、親水滑水化処理剤である。
(式中、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、R10は、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各R10は互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい。)
 すなわち、この実施形態に係る有機ケイ素化合物(A2)は、両末端のケイ素原子間に親水性鎖含有基であるポリアルキレングリコール構造が結合し、両末端のケイ素原子に加水分解性基であるアルコキシ基がそれぞれ3つ結合している、いわゆる6官能タイプである点に特徴を有する。
 本発明者らは、末端の加水分解性基の数が多いと反応サイトが増えるため、基材との密着性や金属アルコキシド(B)との結合性が向上する、という推測に基づいて、有機ケイ素化合物(A)として、いろいろな6官能タイプの有機ケイ素化合物を金属アルコキシド(B)と組み合わせて皮膜形成を行った。
 その結果、上記式(3)で表される化合物(A2)を用いると、前記式(2)で表される3官能タイプの有機ケイ素化合物(A1)を用いる場合と比較して、親水性を維持しつつ、滑水性が大幅に向上することがわかった。
 一方、同じ6官能タイプの有機ケイ素化合物であっても、ポリアルキレングリコール構造と両末端のケイ素原子の間に水酸基やウレタン結合を有する、後述する比較例6,7の化合物の場合、親水性が低下し、滑水性の向上もみられなかった。これは、水とこれらの酸素含有極性基間に働く水素結合のためと推察される。
 上記の式(3)において、R-Oは、炭素数1~5のアルコキシ基であるが、加水分解後に生じるアルコールが低分子となり、処理剤をより低温で乾燥し、皮膜化するためには加水分解性基の炭素数が小さい方が好ましい。メトキシ基、エトキシ基、プロポキシ基、ブトキシ基であることが好ましく、メトキシ基、エトキシ基であることがより好ましい。
 Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、入手の容易さから、エチレン基、プロピレン基、ブチレン基であることが好ましく、特にプロピレン基であることが好ましい。
 前記R10-Oの繰り返し数qは、4以上の整数であり、入手容易性の観点から、4~30の整数であることが好ましい。qが4以上であることにより、親水性を発現させる鎖長が長くなり、有機ケイ素化合物(A)の親水性が高まり、その結果、形成される皮膜の親水性が十分となる。
 また、R10は、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であるが、親水性を高くしながら、水滴除去性を確保するためには、エチレン基であることが好ましい。
 この実施形態に係る金属アルコキシド(B)、及びその他の成分に関しては、一つ目の実施形態において述べたと同様のものを使用することができる。
 <表面処理方法>
 [親水滑水性皮膜形成工程]
 本実施形態の他のもう一つは、親水滑水性を付与したい基材の表面に、上記した実施形態に係る親水滑水化処理剤を接触させて、親水滑水性皮膜を形成する親水滑水性皮膜形成工程を含む表面処理方法である。
 親水滑水性皮膜形成工程を施す基材は、必要に応じて、後述する前処理を施されていてよい。
 親水滑水化処理剤を基材に接触させる方法としては、特に限定されるものではなく、公知の方法を適用することができる。例えば、スピンコーティング法、ディップコーティング法、スプレーコーティング法、ロールコート法、バーコート法、ダイコート法等が挙げられる。
 親水滑水化処理剤を接触させる際の温度等の条件についても、特に限定されるものではなく、公知の条件を適用することができる。
 図1に、本実施形態に係る親水滑水性皮膜形成工程の一例を示す。
 工程1:親水滑水化処理剤の必須成分である有機ケイ素化合物(A)、金属アルコキシド(B)及びPEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)、又は6官能タイプの有機ケイ素化合物(A2)及び金属アルコキシド(B)に、その他の成分として、溶剤と、加水分解触媒等を混合した親水滑水化処理剤(a)を、十分に攪拌する。
 工程2:前記親水滑水化処理剤をスピンコーター(b)上で回転する基材表面に滴下し、コーティングする。
 工程3:前記基材に加熱処理を施し、親水滑水化処理剤に加水分解・縮重合反応を生起せしめることにより、親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材(c)を得る。
 [アルカリ処理、酸処理工程]
 本実施形態は、前記親水滑水性皮膜形成工程の後、さらにアルカリ処理又は酸処理工程を施す表面処理方法を含む。
 本実施形態に係るアルカリ処理は、水酸化ナトリウム溶液等のアルカリ性溶液を用い、親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材表面とアルカリ性溶液とを一定時間接触させて行うことが好ましい。酸処理の場合は、濃硫酸等の酸性溶液を用いることが好ましい。
 アルカリ処理又は酸処理の一例を図2に示す。工程1~3は、図1と同様の工程であり、親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材(c)に以下の工程4、5を施す。
 工程4:前記基材cをアルカリ性溶液又は酸性溶液(d)中に浸漬して、アルカリ処理又は酸処理を行う。又は、これに変えて、前記基材表面にアルカリ性溶液又は酸性溶液を塗布又は噴射してもよい。
 工程5:前記アルカリ処理又は酸処理工程後、水洗浄、乾燥を施し、基材(c)の被膜よりもさらに優れた親水性滑水性を有する皮膜(高親水滑水性皮膜)が形成された基材(e)を得る。
 1Mの水酸化ナトリウム溶液に基材を浸漬するアルカリ処理の場合、処理時間は長いほど親水性は高くなるので、1分以上処理することが好ましいが、親水性が上がりすぎると、水滴がテールを引き滑落角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθが測定できなくなる。そのため、処理時間は6分以下であることが好ましい。
 濃硫酸に基材を浸漬する酸処理の場合、処理時間は、親水性が向上する10分以上であることが好ましい。また、滑水性を維持するためには、処理時間は8時間以内であることが好ましく、より好ましくは2時間以内である。
[親水滑水性皮膜]
 (親水滑水性皮膜に含まれる加水分解・縮重合物)
 本実施形態に係る、シリコーンオイル(C)を含む親水滑水化処理剤を接触させることにより前記基材上に形成される親水滑水性皮膜は、該親水滑水化処理剤の必須成分である、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、金属アルコキシド(B)と、以下の式(1)で表される、分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)と、の加水分解・縮重合物を含む。
 (式中、Rは、親水性鎖含有基を表し、Rは、それぞれ独立に炭素数1~5のアルキル基を表し、m、nは整数であり、m/nは1~6である。)
 また、本実施形態に係る、有機ケイ素化合物(A2)を含む親水滑水化処理剤を接触させることにより前記基材上に形成される親水滑水性皮膜は、該親水滑水化処理剤の必須成分である、少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、金属アルコキシド(B)と、の加水分解・縮重合物を含み、前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の式(3)で表される。
(式中、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、R10は、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各R10は互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい。)
 (膜厚)
 本実施形態に係る親水滑水性皮膜の膜厚は、特に限定されるものではないが、好ましくは0.05g/m以上であり、より好ましくは0.1~2g/mである。皮膜の膜厚を0.05g/m以上とすることにより、基材を十分に被覆できるため、基材を摩擦/摩耗や錆から保護することができる。
 (静的接触角θ
 親水滑水性皮膜の静的な親水性の指標には、皮膜に対する水の静的接触角θを用いることができる。
 図3に示すように、静的接触角θは、静止している液滴の液面と固体面のなす角であり、この値が小さいほど静的親液性が高い。
 本実施形態に係る親水滑水性皮膜の静的接触角θは、40°未満であることが好ましい。静的接触角θが40°未満であれば、建築用耐汚染の分野において、十分に活用することができるばかりでなく、熱交換器の分野において、十分な活用が期待できる。
 (滑落角θ
 親水滑水性皮膜の滑水性の指標の一つとして、滑落角θを用いることができる。
 図4に示すように、滑落角θは、徐々に固体面を傾けて液滴が滑落し始めるのに要する固体面の傾斜角であり、この値が小さいほど、滑水性に優れる。
 本実施形態に係る親水性皮膜は、皮膜に対する水の滑落角θが、10μLの水滴量に対して、25°以下であることが好ましく、より好ましくは20°以下である。なお、水の滑落角θの下限値は、特に限定されるものではなく、低ければ低いほうが好ましい。
 (接触角ヒステリシス(Δθ=θ-θ))
 親水滑水性皮膜の滑水性の他の指標として、接触角ヒステリシス(Δθ)も用いることができる。
 接触角ヒステリシスΔθは、固体表面に接した液滴の拡張収縮法による前進接触角θと後退接触角θの差(θ-θ)から求めることができる。
 図5に示すように、前進接触角θは、固体表面に形成した液滴にシリンジの針を刺して、液量を徐々に増やしていった際に、三相接触線が前進するときの接触角である。
 また、図6に示すように、後退接触角θは、液滴を徐々に吸引していった際に、三相接触線が後退するときの接触角である。
 前進接触角と後退接触角は、値が小さいほど動的親水性が高いことを示し、接触角ヒステリシスは、値が小さいほど、滑水性が高いことを示す。
 (加水分解安定性)
 水滴又は水膜に接することを前提とする基材に形成する親水滑水性皮膜には、加水分解安定性が欠かせない。
 本実施形態に係る親水滑水性皮膜には、水に接する時間が長くても、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθの値の変化が少ないことが好ましい。
 <基材>
 本実施形態のさらにもう一つは、表面に、前記の本実施形態に係る親水滑水化処理剤の加水分解・縮重合物を含む親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材である。
 本実施形態に係る基材は、前記親水滑水化処理剤を接触させることにより、前記の有機ケイ素化合物(A)、金属アルコキシド(B)、及び分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)の加水分解・縮重合物含む親水滑水性皮膜、又は有機ケイ素化合物(A2)及び金属アルコキシド(B)の加水分解・縮重合物を含む親水滑水性皮膜を生成できるものであれば、特に限定されない。例えば、アクリル樹脂、ポリカーボネート樹脂、ポリエステル樹脂、スチレン樹脂、アクリル-スチレン共重合樹脂、セルロース樹脂、ポリオレフィン樹脂、ポリビニルアルコール等の熱可塑性樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ユリア樹脂、メラミン樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、不飽和ポリエステル、シリコーン樹脂、ウレタン樹脂等の熱硬化性樹脂等の樹脂製の基材が挙げられる。
 また、セラミックスやガラス、鉄、シリコン、銅、亜鉛、アルミニウム等の金属、さらには、前記した金属を含む合金等が挙げられる。
 なお、親水滑水性皮膜形成工程の前に、基材に対して、脱脂処理及び脱脂後の水洗処理を行う脱脂処理工程を実施してもよい。
 あるいは、樹脂基材には、易接着処理等の前処理を実施してもよい。易接着処理としては、例えば、コロナ処理、プラズマ処理、紫外線処理、シラン系化合物、シリカ(SiO)皮膜や樹脂によるプライマー処理等が挙げられる。また、金属や合金基材には、SiO皮膜を被覆してもよい。これにより親水滑水性皮膜と基材との密着性が向上し、アルカリ処理、又は酸処理に対して皮膜の耐久性、金属や合金基材の防食性を向上させることができる。
 例えば、親水性と水滴除去性との両者が要求され、また、セルフクリーニング機能が望まれる用途として、熱交換器用フィン材が挙げられるが、熱交換器用フィン材の基材となるアルミニウムに対しても、本発明の表面処理方法は、好適に適用することができる。
 また、基材の形状としても、特に限定されるものではなく、例えば、平面、曲面、あるいは、多数の面が組み合わさった三次元的構造であってもよい。
 次に、本発明の実施例について説明するが、本発明はこれら実施例等に限定されるものではない。
 (実施例1、2、比較例1~5)
 <PEG変性シリコーンオイルの有無、分子量の検討>
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)として、以下の式(6)に示す化合物PEG9-12-Si(Gelest,Inc.)(A1)を2.35g、金属アルコキシド(B)として、テトラエトキシシランTEOS(和光純薬工業(現富士フィルム和光純薬)社)を5.17g(モル比A/B=0.15)秤量し、さらに以下の表1に示す各種のPEG変性シリコーンオイル(Gelest,Inc.)を0.16g(皮膜化後に残る有機ケイ素化合物(A1)と金属アルコキシド(B)の成分由来の質量に対して3質量%に相当)秤量して混合し、これらとエタノール44.5mL、0.01M塩酸14.8mLとを室温で一晩攪拌して、実施例1,2及び比較例1~4に係る親水滑水化処理剤を作製した。
 また、PEG変性シリコーンオイルを混合しない以外は実施例1と同様にして、比較例5に係る親水滑水化処理剤を作製した。この親水滑水化処理剤は、先行技術文献の特許文献1に記載されたものである。
 これらの処理剤を、40mm×40mmのガラス製基材上にスピンコートし、3時間80℃で加熱した後、水洗浄して、厚さ300nm程度の親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 実施例1,2及び比較例1~5の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び10μLの水滴に対する滑落角θを表2に示す。なお、「-」は未測定を表す。
 表1に示すように、PEG変性シリコーンオイルは、分子量が小さいほど粘性も小さいから、分子量が1000以下のPEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)を、有機ケイ素化合物(A)及び金属アルコキシド(B)に添加した実施例1、2に係る親水滑水化処理剤においては、粘度の上昇が抑えられており、表2からは、この処理剤を用いて形成された親水滑水性皮膜は、静的な親水性を示す接触角θの値が30°台前半であり、動的な親水性を示すθ、θも比較例5より小さく、親水性が向上していることがわかった。
 一方、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ及び滑落角θの値は、PEG変性シリコーンオイルを添加しない比較例5よりは若干高めになったが、特に、DBE―712を添加した実施例1においては、Δθは10°未満、θは25°未満と、比較例5とほぼ遜色のない滑水性を維持できることがわかった。
 <PEG変性シリコーンオイルの添加量>
 実施例1におけるPEG変性シリコーンオイルDBE-712の添加量を、有機ケイ素化合物(A)と金属アルコキシド(B)の合計質量に対して、以下の表3に示すとおりに変化させた親水滑水化処理剤を作製し、これらの処理剤を用いて親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 DBE-712の添加有無及び添加量の変化に対する静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び滑落角θの測定結果を表3に示す。また、図7に静的接触角θ(○)、前進接触角θ(□)、後退接触角θ(△)、の変化を、図8に接触角ヒステリシスΔθの変化を、図9に滑落角θの変化を示す。
 図7からは、DBE-712添加による親水性の向上は、0.01~10質量%の添加で効果があることがわかった。
 一方、滑水性については、図8、9から、0.01~5質量%程度のDBE-712の添加であれば、無添加の場合と遜色のない接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び滑落角θを維持できることがわかった。
 <PEG変性シリコーンオイル添加の有無による加水分解安定性>
 実施例1(PEG変性シリコーンオイル添加有)、及び比較例5(PEG変性シリコーンオイル添加無)に係る親水滑水化処理剤を用いて作製した親水滑水性皮膜を水中に7日間浸漬し、24時間ごとに皮膜を取り出し、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θを測定した。
 測定結果を表4及び図10(添加有)、図11(添加無)に示す。
 表4及び図10、11から、従来の皮膜(比較例5:PEG変性シリコーンオイル添加無し)は時間の経過とともに親水性が上がるものの、滑水性は大幅に悪化していた。一方、実施例1に係る皮膜(分子量1000以下のPEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)の添加有り)は、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θR、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθに大きな経時変化がなく、加水分解安定性に優れることがわかった。
 (実施例3、比較例6~8)
 <有機ケイ素化合物の検討>
 有機ケイ素化合物(A)として、式(6)に示す化合物に替えて、以下の式(7)に示すポリエチレングリコールを有するシラン(Gelest,Inc.:以下、「PEG25-30-Si2」という。)(A2)を用い、金属アルコキシド(B)としてTEOSを用い、A/Bのモル比0.15で混合し、固形分が約12質量%となるようにエタノールと塩酸を加え、室温で一晩攪拌して親水滑水化処理剤を作製した以外は、比較例5と同様にして、実施例3に係る親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 有機ケイ素化合物として、以下の式(8)~(10)に示す化合物を用いて親水滑水化処理剤を作製した以外は、実施例3と同様にして、それぞれ比較例6~8に係る親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 実施例3及び比較例6~8に係る親水滑水性皮膜の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθを比較例5に係る皮膜とともに表5に示す。
 なお「…」は、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθが、測定できないほど滑水性が悪かったことを示す。
 表5の結果から、有機ケイ素化合物として、PEGを含む親水性鎖基と加水分解性基を6個有する実施例3のPEG25-30-Si2を用いて作製した実施例3に係る皮膜は、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、及び後退接触角θが小さく、静的及び動的な親水性が優れているばかりでなく、接触角ヒステリシスΔθが小さいことから、従来例である比較例5に係る皮膜と比べて、滑水性が格段に向上していることがわかった。
 これに対して、PEGを含む親水性鎖基と加水分解性基を6個有するが、OH基やNHCOO基を有する比較例6,7を用いて作製した比較例6、7に係る皮膜は、比較例5の親水滑水性を上回ることはなかった。
 また、比較例8として検討した、PEGユニットを有さないEG2-OH-Siを用いて作製した皮膜では、滑水性を得ることができなかった。
 <モル比 有機ケイ素化合物(A2)/金属アルコキシド(B)の検討>
 実施例3において用いたPEG-25-30-Si2とTEOSのモル比を以下の表6に示すように変更して親水滑水化処理剤を作製した。これらを用いて形成した親水滑水性皮膜の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθを、以下の表6に示す。
 表6から、PEG-25-30-Si2とTEOSは、モル比0.3以下であれば、従来例である比較例5より優れた親水性滑水性皮膜が得られることがわかった。
 <滑落角θと水滴サイズ>
 実施例3及び比較例5に係る皮膜の滑落角θを、水滴サイズ1~50μLに変更して測定した。
 結果を以下の表7、及び図12に示す。なお、表中の「-」は未測定を表し、図中の、●及び○は、それぞれ実施例3及び比較例5を表す。
 表7及び図12から、実施例3に係るPEG-25-30-Si2を用いて作製した親水滑水性皮膜上では、2μLの水滴が24°の傾きθで滑落することがわかった。
 従来例に相当する比較例5に係る皮膜では、5μLの水滴を滑落させるために42°の傾きが必要で、2μL以下の水滴を滑落させることはできなかった。
 <加水分解安定性>
 実施例3で作製した親水滑水性皮膜を水中に7日間浸漬し、24時間ごとに皮膜を取り出し、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θR、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθを測定した。
 測定結果を表8に示し、図13に静的接触角θ(○)、前進接触角θ(□)、後退接触角θ(△)の経時変化を示す。
 実施例3に係る親水滑水性皮膜の結果を示す表8及び図13と、従来例に相当する比較例5に係る親水滑水性皮膜の結果を示す表4及び図11とを対比すると、従来の皮膜は時間の経過とともに親水性が上がるものの、滑水性は大幅に悪化したのに対して、PEG25-30-Si2を用いて作製した皮膜は、静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θR、及び接触角ヒステリシスΔθに大きな経時変化がなく、加水分解安定性に優れることがわかった。
 (実施例4)
 <アルカリ処理 その1>
 実施例1に係る親水滑水化処理剤を作製し、この処理剤を実施例1と同様にして基材上にコーティングし、加熱処理を行った後、前記基材を1Mの水酸化ナトリウム溶液に3分間浸漬するアルカリ処理を行い、水洗浄することにより、実施例4に係る親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 以下の表9に、実施例4に係る皮膜の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び10μLの水滴に対する滑落角θの測定結果を、同じ親水滑水化処理剤を用いて作製し、アルカリ処理を施さなかった皮膜の測定結果と合わせて示す。
 表9によれば、有機ケイ素化合物(A1)と金属アルコキシド(B)に分子量10,000以下のPEG変性シリコーンオイル(C)を加えた親水滑水化処理剤を用いて親水滑水性皮膜を作製した場合、アルカリ処理工程を加えることにより、親水性及び滑水性がより向上することがわかった。
 (実施例5)
 <アルカリ処理 その2>
 実施例3に係る処理剤の必須成分であるPEG-25-30-Si2(A)とTEOS(B)のモル比A/Bを0.075に変更した以外は、実施例3と同様にして親水滑水化処理剤を作製した。この処理剤を基材上にコーティングし、加熱処理を行った後、前記基材を1Mの水酸化ナトリウム溶液に以下の表10に示す時間浸漬するアルカリ処理を行い、水洗浄して実施例5に係る親水滑水性皮膜を形成した。
 この皮膜の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び10μLの水滴に対する滑落角θの測定結果を、同じ親水滑水化処理剤を用いて作製したが、アルカリ処理を施さなかった皮膜の測定結果とともに以下の表10に示す。また、図14に、アルカリ処理による前記皮膜の静的接触角θ(○)、前進接触角θ(□)、後退接触角θ(△)の経時変化を示す。
 表10、及び図14から、有機ケイ素化合物(A)として有機ケイ素化合物(A2)を用いた場合、30秒の短時間のアルカリ処理でも親水性が向上し、1分以上のアルカリ処理では、親水性に加えて滑水性も顕著に向上することがわかった。
 ただし、処理時間が6分を超えると親水性が向上しすぎて水滴がテールを引き、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び滑落角θの測定ができなかった。そのため、滑水性の評価をすることができなかった。
 <アルカリ処理皮膜の滑落角θと水滴サイズ>
 アルカリ処理を4分間行った実施例5に係る親水滑水性皮膜と、同じ親水滑水化処理剤を用いたが、アルカリ処理を行わなかった皮膜において、載置する水滴サイズを1~50μLに変更して滑落角θの変化を測定した。
 結果を表11及び図15に示す。なお、図15中、●はアルカリ処理有の場合を表し、〇はアルカリ処理無の場合を表わしている。
 表11及び図15からは、アルカリ処理により、2μL又は1μLの小さな水滴であっても、9°又は14°というわずかな傾きで滑落が可能であることがわかり、親水性の向上だけでなく、滑水性も大幅に向上していることが確かめられた。
 (実施例6)
 <酸処理>
 実施例5と同様の親水滑水化処理剤を用いて作製した親水滑水性皮膜に、以下の表12に示す時間で濃硫酸(95%HSO)に浸漬する酸処理を行い、実施例6に係る親水滑水性皮膜を作製した。
 以下の表12に、実施例6に係る高親水滑水性皮膜の静的接触角θ、前進接触角θ、後退接触角θ、接触角ヒステリシスΔθ、及び10μLの水滴に対する滑落角θを測定した結果を、同じ親水滑水化処理剤を用いて作製し、酸処理を行わなかった皮膜の測定結果と合わせて示す。図16は、実施例6に係る皮膜の静的接触角θ(○)、前進接触角θ(□)、後退接触角θ(△)を示す。
 表12、図16からは、親水滑水性皮膜に酸処理の後工程を加えると、アルカリ処理よりも時間を要するが、10分以上の処理で、滑水性を大きく変化させずに、親水性を向上させることができることがわかった。
 ただし、処理時間が2時間を超えると親水性の向上にはあまり効果が見られない一方、滑水性は低下する傾向にあるので、10分以上2時間以内の酸処理が好ましいことがわかった。
 本実施形態に係る親水滑水化処理剤を用いて形成された親水滑水性皮膜は、親水性と滑水性を併せ持つため、セルフクリーニング機能を発揮する部材に適用することができる。このため、親水性と滑水性との両立が要求され、特にセルフクリーニング機能が望まれる用途、例えば、空気を熱源とするヒートポンプシステムや輸送用機器等に使用される熱交換器の部材、とりわけ、熱交換器用フィン材として、好適に用いることができる。
 また、冷凍設備、送電設備、通信設備、道路周辺設備等の各種部材、あるいは、自動車や車両、建築物等の窓ガラス等、水に接する環境中において親水性と水滴除去性との両者が要求され、セルフクリーニング機能が望まれる分野に、幅広く適用することが可能である。

Claims (14)

  1.  少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、
     金属アルコキシド(B)と、
     以下の一般式(1)で表される、分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)、
    を含む親水滑水化処理剤。
     (式中、Rは、親水性鎖含有基を表し、Rは、それぞれ独立に炭素数1~5のアルキル基を表し、m、nは整数であり、m/nは1~6である。)
  2.  前記式(1)中、Rは、R-O(CHCHO)-CH(Rは炭素数1~5のアルキレン基、pは5~10の整数)で表される基である、請求項1に記載の親水滑水化処理剤。
  3.  前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の一般式(2)で表される有機ケイ素化合物(A1)である、請求項1に記載の親水滑水化処理剤。
    (式中、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、R、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各Rは互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよく、Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基である。)
  4.  少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、
     金属アルコキシド(B)と、
    を含み、
     前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の式(3)で表される有機ケイ素化合物(A2)である、親水滑水化処理剤。
    (式中、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、各Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、R10は、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各R10は互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよい。)
  5.  基材の表面に、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の親水滑水化処理剤を接触させて親水滑水性皮膜を形成する親水滑水性皮膜形成工程を含む表面処理方法。
  6. 前記親水滑水性皮膜をアルカリ処理又は酸処理する工程を含む請求項5に記載の表面処理方法。
  7.  前記基材は、金属、金属酸化物、シリコン、ガラス、又は樹脂から選ばれる少なくとも1種である請求項5に記載の表面処理方法。
  8.  前記基材は、熱交換器用フィン材である、請求項5に記載の表面処理方法。
  9.  表面に、
     少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、
     金属アルコキシド(B)と、
     以下の一般式(1)で表される、分子量が1000以下のシリコーンオイル(C)と、
    の加水分解・縮重合物を含む親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材。
     (式中、Rは、親水性鎖含有基を表し、Rは、それぞれ独立に炭素数1~5のアルキル基を表し、m、nは整数であり、m/nは1~6である。)
  10.  前記式(1)中、Rは、R-O(CHCHO)-CH(Rは炭素数1~5のアルキレン基、pは5~10の整数)で表される基である、請求項9に記載の基材。
  11.  前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、下記の一般式(2)で表される、有機ケイ素化合物(A1)である、請求項9に記載の基材。
    (式中、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、R、Rは、炭素数1~5のアルキレン基であり、qは、4以上の整数であり、各Rは互いに同一であっても異なっていてもよく、Rは、それぞれ独立して炭素数1~5のアルキル基である。)
  12.  表面に、
     少なくとも1つのケイ素原子に、少なくとも1つの親水性鎖含有基と、少なくとも1つの加水分解性基とが結合している有機ケイ素化合物(A)と、
     金属アルコキシド(B)と、の加水分解・縮重合物を含み、
     前記有機ケイ素化合物(A)は、以下の式(3)で表される有機ケイ素化合物(A2)である、親水滑水性皮膜が形成された基材。
