Definitions
- the present invention relates to an emission spectroscopic analysis method for Sb in metal materials, a method for measuring Sb concentration in molten steel during refining, and a method for manufacturing steel materials.
- Nb and Ti are added to steel materials at a level of several hundred mass ppm. This is because Nb and Ti added to steel materials generate fine carbides, which provide precipitation strengthening.
- Sb is added to steel materials at a level of several tens of mass ppm. This is because Sb added to the steel material suppresses a decrease in fatigue strength due to surface decarburization during hot processes such as hot forming and quenching.
- Adjustment of the concentration of elements in steel materials is carried out during the refining of molten steel.
- a sample is prepared by taking a portion of the molten steel being refined, the concentration of the target element (referred to as "element A" for convenience) contained in the sample is quickly analyzed, and based on the analysis results. Then, the amount of element A added to bring the concentration of element A in the molten steel to the target concentration is calculated, and the calculated amount of element A is added to the molten steel.
- Examples of methods used to quantify elements in steel materials include spark discharge optical emission spectroscopy and laser ablation ICP (inductively coupled plasma) mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS).
- spark discharge optical emission spectroscopy spark discharges are repeatedly generated between a metal material and an electrode, and the excited luminescence produced by each spark discharge is spectrally analyzed to measure the luminescence intensity.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a method of quickly and highly accurately measuring the concentration of carbon contained in a metal material containing a large amount of iron, such as a steel material, using spark discharge optical emission spectroscopy.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above points, and is an emission spectroscopy method for quickly and highly accurately measuring the concentration of Sb contained in metal materials (especially metal materials containing a large amount of iron such as steel materials).
- the purpose is to provide analytical methods.
- the present invention provides the following [1] to [6].
- [1] Spark discharge is repeatedly generated between a metal material and an electrode facing the metal material to generate excited light emission, the excited light emission is spectrally divided, and the above-mentioned value is determined for the emission intensity I M of the matrix element of the metal material.
- An emission spectroscopic analysis method of Sb in a metal material which measures the emission intensity I M and the emission intensity I Sb in order to determine the ratio I Sb /I M of the emission intensity I Sb of Sb contained in the metal material, , an optical emission spectroscopic analysis method for Sb in a metal material, in which the spark discharge is performed with a discharge energy of less than 0.10 J.
- [5] Collect a part of the molten steel during refining to prepare an analysis sample, and use emission spectrometry to determine the emission intensity IM of the matrix element in the analysis sample and the emission intensity of Sb contained in the analysis sample.
- I Sb is measured, and the analysis sample is determined based on the relationship between the predetermined ratio I Sb /I M and the Sb concentration using the ratio I Sb /I M of the luminescence intensity I Sb to the luminescence intensity I M.
- a method for measuring the Sb concentration of molten steel during refining to obtain an Sb concentration of A method for measuring Sb concentration in molten steel during refining.
- [6] Obtaining the Sb concentration of the molten steel during refining using the method for measuring the Sb concentration of the molten steel during refining described in [5] above, and adding Sb to the molten steel during refining based on the obtained Sb concentration.
- a method for manufacturing a steel material comprising: determining an amount of Sb added, and adding Sb to the molten steel during refining based on the determined amount of Sb added, thereby manufacturing a steel material.
- the concentration of Sb contained in a metal material can be measured quickly and with high precision.
- the present inventors focused on spark discharge optical emission spectroscopy and studied conditions for quantifying Sb at a level of several tens of mass ppm in steel materials.
- BEC background equivalent concentration
- the ratio (I A /I M ) of the emission intensity I A of the analysis target element A to the emission intensity I M of the matrix element is used as the signal intensity. Therefore, in order to reduce the BEC, it is preferable to increase the slope a, that is, to increase the value of the ratio (I A /I M ).
- the present inventors changed various analysis conditions and calculated and compared the BEC each time.
- Sb-specific behavior appears in the relationship between spark discharge energy (discharge energy) and BEC, and the relationship between BEC and the delay time set when measuring the excited light emission after each spark discharge. I found out.
- FIG. 1 is a graph showing an example of the relationship between BEC and discharge energy.
- the elements to be analyzed were Cr, Ti, V, and Zr
- the BEC value hardly changed even if the discharge energy (unit: J) was changed.
- the element to be analyzed was Sb
- the BEC value decreased by lowering the discharge energy.
- FIG. 2 is a graph showing an example of the relationship between BEC and delay time. As shown in FIG. 2, when the element to be analyzed was Sb, the BEC was reduced by providing a delay time (unit: n seconds).
- emission spectroscopic analysis of Sb in metal materials First, an emission spectroscopic analysis method (hereinafter also referred to as "this analysis method") of Sb in a metal material according to the present embodiment is performed.
- the apparatus used in this analysis method is not particularly limited as long as it is a spark discharge emission spectrometer, but a solid-state emission spectrometer that measures multiple elements simultaneously is preferable.
- the metal material that is the sample of this analysis method is not particularly limited, but since this analysis method is particularly effective for metal materials that contain a lot of iron, metal materials that contain a lot of iron are preferable. That is, the matrix element of the metal material is preferably iron (Fe). Further, the metal material that is the sample of this analysis method may contain antimony (Sb) as an element to be analyzed.
- Such samples (metal materials) include, for example, samples obtained by collecting molten steel during refining, solidifying it, shearing it, and polishing the sheared surface; samples obtained by shearing a steel material and polishing the sheared surface; etc. are used.
- spark discharge An electrode is arranged to face the metal material, and spark discharge is generated many times between the metal material and the electrode in an inert gas or vacuum to generate excited light emission. Spark discharge may be generated by a known method. The number of spark discharges (number of pulses) may be set to an appropriate number that allows for highly accurate analysis. Preliminary discharge may be performed as necessary. The number of spark discharges to collect data for analysis is preferably about 1000 to 2000 times. The repetition frequency of spark discharge is generally preferably 200 to 400 Hz, since it does not particularly significantly contribute to analytical performance.
- the energy of spark discharge is less than 0.10J.
- discharge energy is less than 0.10J.
- the discharge energy is preferably 0.07J or less, more preferably 0.05J or less.
- the discharge energy is preferably 0.01 J or more, more preferably 0.02 J or more.
- the emission intensity of the unique spectral line for each element obtained by spectroscopy of the excited emission is measured.
- the luminescence intensities of Sb and matrix elements are measured.
- Emission intensity I of Sb the emission line is not particularly limited, but if the sample is a metal material containing a large amount of iron, it is preferable to use an emission line of 217.58 nm, which is a wavelength with little spectral interference.
- the emission line used to measure the emission intensity I M of the matrix element is not particularly limited as long as it is an emission line derived from the matrix element, does not overlap with other elements, and provides sufficient intensity.
- the sample (metallic material) is a steel material
- examples of the emission line of Fe, which is a matrix element include Fe(I) 287.2 nm and Fe(II) 271.4 nm.
- ⁇ Delay time> The present inventors investigated the influence of the delay time when capturing excited light emission for each spark discharge. As a result, when the luminescence intensity was measured after a certain delay time from the spark discharge, the BEC was lower than when the luminescence intensity was measured immediately after the spark discharge (FIG. 2).
- FIG. 3 is a graph showing the light emission behavior of Fe and Sb for each spark discharge, where the horizontal axis shows the elapsed time (unit: ⁇ seconds) from the spark discharge, and the vertical axis shows the normalized light emission intensity.
- the emission intensity of each element is corrected so that the minimum value is zero and the maximum value is 1. That is, the emission intensity is normalized.
- Fe iron
- FIG. 4 is a graph showing the relationship between Sb emission intensity and BEC.
- the delay time may be set to a time during which the Sb emission intensity decreases below the maximum value (maximum emission intensity) for each spark discharge.
- the delay time is preferably at least the time during which the Sb emission intensity per spark discharge decreases to 90% of the maximum value (maximum emission intensity), and more preferably at least the time during which it decreases to 80%. , 60% or more is more preferable.
- the delay time is preferably equal to or less than the time during which the Sb luminescence intensity per spark discharge decreases to 20% of the maximum value (maximum luminescence intensity), and more preferably equal to or less than the time during which it decreases to 30%.
- the time (gate width) for capturing excitation emission after the delay time has elapsed is not particularly limited as long as sufficient emission intensity can be measured for quantifying Sb.
- the gate width may be set for a certain period of time after the delay time has elapsed, or the gate width may be set after the delay time has elapsed until the light is completely quenched.
- an analysis sample is prepared from molten steel during refining. Specifically, a portion of the molten steel is sampled from the molten steel being refined, solidified, and then sheared into an appropriate size. Thereafter, the sheared surface is polished and used as an analysis sample.
- the luminescence intensity I M of the matrix element and the luminescence intensity I Sb of Sb are measured for the prepared analysis sample using an emission spectrometry method.
- the present analysis method described above is used as the emission spectroscopic analysis method.
- the ratio (I Sb /I M ) is determined from the measured luminescence intensity I M and the luminescence intensity I Sb , and the ratio (I Sb /I M ) determined in advance is determined using the determined ratio ( I Sb / I M ).
- the Sb concentration of the analysis sample is obtained based on the relationship between and the Sb concentration. Specifically, for example, a metal material (such as a steel material) with a known Sb concentration that includes the Sb concentration range to be analyzed is prepared in advance as a reference sample. At this time, two or more types of reference samples having different Sb concentrations are prepared.
- the ratio (I Sb /I M ) of the reference sample is determined using the present analysis method described above as the emission spectrometry method. Note that the measurement conditions using emission spectrometry are the same for the reference sample and the analysis sample.
- a calibration curve is created from the relationship between the obtained ratio (I Sb /I M ) and the Sb concentration. Such a calibration curve is created in advance, and the Sb concentration is calculated by substituting the ratio (I Sb /I M ) of the analysis sample into this calibration curve.
- this manufacturing method a method for manufacturing a steel material according to the present embodiment (hereinafter also referred to as "this manufacturing method”) will be described.
- this manufacturing method first, the Sb concentration of the molten steel being refined is obtained using the above-described measuring method. Next, based on the obtained Sb concentration, the amount of Sb added to the molten steel during refining is determined. That is, the Sb addition amount is determined so that the Sb concentration of the molten steel during refining becomes the target concentration. Thereafter, Sb is added to the molten steel during refining based on the determined Sb addition amount. In this way, a steel material is manufactured. According to this manufacturing method, since the amount of Sb added to molten steel during refining can be controlled with high precision, a steel material having stable characteristics can be manufactured with a high yield.
- spark discharge emission spectrometry method the present analysis method described above was used as the spark discharge emission spectrometry method. Specifically, in Invention Example 1, spark discharge (integral discharge) was performed with a discharge energy of 0.02J. The delay time was set as the time at which a luminescence intensity of 50% of the maximum luminescence intensity was obtained as the luminescence intensity of Sb. Invention Example 2, spark discharge (integral discharge) was performed with a discharge energy of 0.05J. The delay time was set as the time at which a luminescence intensity of 40% of the maximum luminescence intensity was obtained as the luminescence intensity of Sb.
- Comparative Example 1 a conventional spark discharge emission spectrometry method under standard measurement conditions was used as the spark discharge emission spectrometry method.
- the ratio of the Sb emission intensity I Sb to the Fe emission intensity I Fe (I Sb /I Fe ) and the Sb concentration are calibrated in advance using a steel sample with a known Sb concentration as a reference sample. - the Sb emission line As the Sb emission line, the Sb(I) 217.58 nm emission line was used.
- As the Fe emission line the Fe(I) 287.2 nm emission line was used.
- a cylindrical cast sample taken from molten steel during refining was used as the analysis sample.
- the cast sample was sliced at the center to obtain a sheared surface, which was polished using a belt sander (grain size: #80).
- the luminescence intensity I Sb of Sb and the luminescence intensity I Fe of Fe were measured.
- several grams of chips were collected from the sample, a portion of which was dissolved in acid, and the chemical analysis value of the Sb concentration (unit: mass ppm) was determined.
