Abstract
본 발명은 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매; 이의 제조방법; 및 이를 포함하는 수전해 전지에 관한 것이다.
Description
본 발명은 루테늄 산화물 기반 산소 발생 반응용 촉매, 이의 제조방법 및 이를 포함하는 수전해 전지에 관한 것이다.
이리듐 기반 물질은 산성 조건에서 산소 발생 반응용 촉매로 사용되며, 안정적인 산소 발생 반응 특성을 보이지만 비싼 가격으로 인해 이를 대체할 물질의 개발이 시급하다.
루테늄 기반 물질은 이리듐 기반 물질에 비해, 우수한 성능을 보이지만 산화 전압의 구동 환경에서 전해질 내에서 쉽게 용출되는 문제가 있다. 즉, 루테늄 기반 물질은 고전압에서 높은 산화 상태를 지니는 산화종(RuO4
2-)으로 상변환되면서 촉매 구조가 무너지고 용해되는 한계를 지니고 있다.
루테늄 기반 물질을 루테늄 산화물로 상변환시키기 위한 가장 좋은 방법은 산소 환경에서 고온 열처리이다. 루테늄 산화물에 백금을 도핑하게 되면 그 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있는데, 이때, 백금의 경우 산소와의 결합력이 약하기 때문에 루테늄 산화물에 백금을 도핑시키는 것은 어려운 한계가 있었다.
본 발명은 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매 등을 제공하고자 한다.
그러나, 본 발명이 이루고자 하는 기술적 과제는 이상에서 언급한 과제에 제한되지 않으며, 언급되지 않은 또 다른 과제들은 아래의 기재로부터 당업자에게 명확하게 이해될 수 있을 것이다.
본 발명은 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 제공한다.
상기 전이금속은 코발트, 니켈, 철 및 구리로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있다.
상기 나노입자는 하기 화학식 1로 표시될 수 있다:

상기 식에서, TM은 전이금속이고, x는 0.01 내지 0.3이고, y는 0.1 내지 0.4이다.
상기 촉매는 전도성 지지체 상에 담지될 수 있다.
상기 촉매는 상기 나노입자 내부에 존재하는 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드 코어를 추가로 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 구현예로, (a) 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드를 제조하는 단계; (b) 상기 나노로드를 포함하는 용액에 루테늄 전구체를 투입하여 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 제조하는 단계; 및 (c) 상기 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 전도성 지지체 상에 담지시킨 다음, 열처리하는 단계를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법을 제공한다.
상기 (a) 단계에서 제조는 백금 전구체를 열분해하는 동안, 전이금속 전구체를 주입하는 용매열(solvothermal) 합성법을 통해 수행될 수 있다.
상기 (b) 단계에서 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드는 직경이 1 nm 내지 10 nm이고, 길이가 1 nm 내지 50 nm일 수 있다.
상기 (b) 단계에서 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드는 백금 : 전이금속 : 루테늄의 질량비가 50 ~ 80 : 1 ~ 30 : 10 ~ 40일 수 있다.
상기 (c) 단계에서 열처리를 통해 루테늄의 산화 상태를 일부 변화시킬 수 있다.
상기 (c) 단계에서 열처리는 350 ℃ 내지 500 ℃의 온도에서 10 분 내지 5 시간 동안 수행될 수 있다.
본 발명의 다른 구현예로, 상기 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 포함하는 수전해 전지를 제공한다.
본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매는 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기 백금 도핑으로 인해 루테늄 산화물의 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한, 상기 전이금속은 산소 친화성을 가지는 것으로, 루테늄 산화물에 백금이 효과적으로 도핑될 수 있도록 할 뿐만 아니라, 산성 조건에서 촉매의 전기화학적 활성을 더욱 높일 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 적용한 수전해 전지는 상용 Ir 또는 RuO2 기반 촉매를 적용한 수전해 전지에 비해, 산성 조건에서 산소 발생 반응시 우수한 성능 및 안정성을 모두 확보할 수 있는 이점이 있다.
도 1은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 Pt(Co) 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조과정을 개략적으로 나타낸 것이다.
도 2는 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 제조한 나노로드를 대상으로 TEM 및 EDS 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 3은 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 제조한 나노로드를 카본 지지체 상에 담지시킨 상태와, 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매를 대상으로 TEM 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 4는 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매를 대상으로 TEM 및 STEM 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 5는 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매를 대상으로 EDS 및 XRD 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 6은 실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1~2에서 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매를 대상으로 질소가 포화된 0.1 M HClO4 전해질에서 선형주사전위법(LSV)를 측정하여 촉매의 전기화학적 활성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 7은 실시예 1 및 비교예 1에서 제조한 나노로드를 카본 지지체 상에 담지한 상태에서 열처리 전 나노입자, 열처리 후 나노입자 및 24시간 촉매반응 후 나노입자를 대상으로 XPS 및 XANES 분석을 통해 Pt 전자구조를 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
도 8은 실시예 1 및 비교예 1~2에서 제조한 나노로드를 카본 지지체 상에 담지한 상태에서 열처리 전 나노입자, 열처리 후 나노입자 및 24시간 촉매반응 후 나노입자를 대상으로 XPS 및 XANES 분석을 통해 Ru 전자구조를 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
본 발명자들은 산소 발생 반응용 촉매로 응용을 위해, 루테늄 산화물에 이종금속을 도핑하는 방법에 대한 연구를 수행하였고, 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드 용액에 루테늄 전구체를 투입하여 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 제조한 다음, 열처리하는 in-situ법을 통해 루테늄 산화물에 백금 및 전이금속을 모두 도핑함으로써, 본 발명을 완성하였다.
한편, 루테늄 산화물 및 백금의 낮은 혼화도로 인해, 루테늄 산화물 합성 후 백금 전구체를 넣어 환원시키는 ex-situ법은 바람직하지 못한 것으로 확인된다.
산소 발생 반응용 촉매
본 발명은 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 제공한다.
본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매는 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 것으로, 상기 산소 발생 반응용 촉매는 물을 분해하여 산소를 발생시키는 촉매를 의미한다.
본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매는 루테늄 산화물 기반으로서, 우수한 성능을 보이지만 산화 전압의 구동 환경에서 전해질 내에서 쉽게 용출되는 문제가 있어, 이러한 안정성을 향상시키기 위해, 백금을 도핑한 것을 특징으로 한다.
다만, 백금의 경우 산소와의 결합력이 약한 한계가 있으므로, 전이금속을 추가로 도입한 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기 전이금속은 산소친화성 전이금속으로서, 산소와의 결합력이 약한 백금을 표면으로 이동시켜 루테늄 산화물에 잘 도핑될 수 있도록 한다.
또한, 상기 전이금속은 산성 조건에서 산소 발생 반응 동안 이온 상태로 용해되는데, 이경우 산소 발생 반응용 촉매 내 빈 공간(vacancy)를 형성하여 촉매 활성을 보다 높일 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 전이금속은 코발트, 니켈, 철 및 구리로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있고, 코발트 또는 니켈인 것이 바람직하고, 코발트인 것이 가장 바람직하나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
구체적으로, 상기 나노입자는 하기 화학식 1로 표시될 수 있다:

상기 식에서, TM은 전이금속이고, x는 0.01 내지 0.3이고, y는 0.1 내지 0.4(바람직하게, 0.3 내지 0.4)이다.
상기 촉매는 전도성 지지체 상에 담지될 수 있고, 상기 전도성 지지체에 대하여, 상기 촉매의 함량은 10 중량% 내지 50 중량%일 수 있다.
상기 촉매는 상기 나노입자 내부에 존재하는 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드 코어를 추가로 포함할 수 있다. 다시 말해, 상기 나노입자는 상기 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드 코어를 둘러싸는 쉘 형태일 수 있다. 상기 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드 코어는 후술하는 열처리에 의하여 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드에서 백금 및 전이금속 중 일부가 표면으로 이동하고 남아 있는 상태를 의미한다.
산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법
본 발명은 (a) 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드를 제조하는 단계; (b) 상기 나노로드를 포함하는 용액에 루테늄 전구체를 투입하여 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 제조하는 단계; 및 (c) 상기 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 전도성 지지체 상에 담지시킨 다음, 열처리하는 단계를 포함하는 산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법을 제공한다.
먼저, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법은 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드를 제조하는 단계[(a) 단계]를 제공한다.
상기 백금 및 전이금속 합금 나노로드에서 각 원소들 일부는 루테늄 산화물에 도핑되기 위한 것이다.
먼저, 상기 백금은 루테늄 산화물에 도핑됨으로써, 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 다만, 백금의 경우 산소와의 결합력이 약한 한계가 있으므로, 전이금속을 추가로 도입한 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기 전이금속은 산소친화성 전이금속으로서, 산소와의 결합력이 약한 백금을 표면으로 이동시켜 루테늄 산화물에 잘 도핑될 수 있도록 한다.
또한, 상기 전이금속은 산성 조건에서 산소 발생 반응 동안 이온 상태로 용해되는데, 이경우 산소 발생 반응용 촉매 내 빈 공간(vacancy)를 형성하여 촉매 활성을 보다 높일 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 전이금속은 코발트, 니켈, 철 및 구리로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있고, 코발트 또는 니켈인 것이 바람직하고, 코발트인 것이 가장 바람직하나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
상기 제조는 용매열(solvothermal) 합성법을 통해 수행될 수 있는데, 상기 제조는 백금 전구체를 열분해하는 동안, 전이금속 전구체를 주입함으로써 수행될 수 있다.
구체적으로, 상기 백금 전구체는 백금(II) 아세틸아세토네이트, (트리메틸)메틸시클로펜타디에닐 백금, 테트라키스(트리플로로포스핀) 백금(0), 테트라키스(트리페닐포스핀)백금(0), 백금(II) 헥사플로로아세틸아세토네이트, 트리메틸(메틸시클로펜타디에닐) 백금(IV) 및 (1,5-시클로옥타디엔)다이메틸백금(II)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있다. 본 발명의 구체적인 실시예에서는 상기 백금 전구체로서, 백금(II) 아세틸아세토네이트를 사용하였다.
상기 전이금속 전구체는 코발트(II) 아세틸아세토네이트, 디카보닐시클로펜타디에닐 코발트, 코발트 카보닐 및 시클로펜타디에닐 디카보닐-코발트(I)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상의 코발트 전구체; 또는 니켈(II) 아세틸아세토네이트, 비스-시클로펜타디에닐 니켈 및 테트라키스 트리플로로포스핀 니켈로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상의 니켈 전구체일 수 있고, 본 발명의 구체적인 실시예에서는 상기 전이금속 전구체로서, 코발트(II) 아세틸아세토네이트 또는 니켈(II) 아세틸아세토네이트를 사용하였다.
한편, 상기 제조는 50 ℃ 내지 150 ℃의 온도에서 30 분 내지 10 시간 동안 수행될 수 있다.
다음으로, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법은 상기 나노로드를 포함하는 용액에 루테늄 전구체를 투입하여 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 제조하는 단계[(b) 단계]를 제공한다.
상기 루테늄 전구체는 루테늄로 환원시킨 후, 루테늄 산화물로 최종 제조되기 위한 것이다.
구체적으로, 상기 루테늄 전구체는 루테늄(III) 아세틸아세토네이트, 비스(에틸시클로펜타디에닐)루테늄), 비스(시클로펜타디에닐)루테늄(II) 및 트리스(2,2,6,6-테트라메틸-3,5-헵타네디오나토)루테늄(III)로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 하나 이상일 수 있다. 본 발명의 구체적인 실시예에서는 상기 루테늄 전구체로서, 루테늄(III) 아세틸아세토네이트를 사용하였다.
상기 제조는 환원 반응으로서, 환원제를 함께 투입할 수 있으며, 200 ℃ 내지 300 ℃의 온도에서 30 분 내지 10 시간 동안 수행될 수 있다.
상기 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드는 직경이 1 nm 내지 10 nm이고, 길이가 1 nm 내지 50 nm일 수 있고, 직경이 1 nm 내지 5 nm이고, 길이가 1 nm 내지 30 nm인 것이 바람직하나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
또한, 상기 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드는 백금 : 전이금속 : 루테늄의 질량비가 50 ~ 80 : 1 ~ 30 : 10 ~ 40일 수 있고, 60 ~ 80 : 1 ~ 20 : 15 ~ 35인 것이 바람직하나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
다음으로, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매의 제조방법은 상기 코어-쉘 구조 나노로드를 전도성 지지체 상에 담지시킨 다음, 열처리하는 단계[(c) 단계]를 포함한다.
상기 열처리를 통해 루테늄의 산화 상태를 일부 변화시킬 수 있는데, 상기 열처리 동안 Ru을 Ru(III) 및 Ru(IV)로 산화시키되, 촉매 반응 이후에도 Ru(IV) 초과로 과산화시키지 않고 촉매 반응 동안 Ru(IV)를 Ru(III)로 오히려 환원시킬 수 있다.
또한, 상기 열처리를 통해 루테늄에 비해 원자 크기가 큰 백금을 표면으로 이동시킬 수 있고, 전이금속을 추가로 도입하여 산소화의 결합력이 약한 백금이 루테늄 산화물에 잘 도핑될 수 있도록 할 수 있다. 이로써, 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 최종 제조할 수 있다.
이를 위해서, 상기 열처리는 산소 및 질소 분위기 하에 수행될 수 있다. 상기 열처리는 루테늄을 산화시키는데 충분한 온도 및 시간이 필요한데, 350 ℃ 내지 500 ℃의 온도에서 10 분 내지 5 시간 동안 수행될 수 있고, 350 ℃ 내지 450 ℃의 온도에서 30 분 내지 3 시간 동안 수행되는 것이 바람직하나, 이에 한정되지 않는다.
산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 포함하는 수전해 전지
본 발명은 상기 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 포함하는 수전해 전지를 제공한다.
본 발명에 따른 수전해 전지는 상기 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 포함하는 것으로, "산소 발생 반응용 촉매"에 대해서는 전술한바 있으므로, 중복 설명을 생략하기로 한다.
상기 수전해 전지는 수소 에너지를 발생시키기 위한 물 전기분해 반응을 이용하는 것으로, 산소 발생 반응과 수소 발생 반응을 포함하며, 물 전기분해가 진행되는 동안 애노드에 도입된 물 분자는 산화되어 양성자, 전자 및 산소 분자를 생성하고, 양성자는 애노드로부터 전해질을 통해 이동하며, 캐소드는 외부 회로를 통해 이동하는 전자를 받아들여 수소 분자를 방출하게 된다. 구체적으로, 상기 수전해 전지는 전극(애노드(anode) 및 캐소드(cathode)), 이온 교환막, 분리판, 가스켓, 집전체 및 기준 전극을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 검토한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매는 백금 및 전이금속이 모두 도핑된 루테늄 산화물 나노입자를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 상기 백금 도핑으로 인해 루테늄 산화물의 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한, 상기 전이금속은 산소 친화성을 가지는 것으로, 루테늄 산화물에 백금이 효과적으로 도핑될 수 있도록 할 뿐만 아니라, 산성 조건에서 촉매의 전기화학적 활성을 더욱 높일 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 산소 발생 반응용 촉매를 적용한 수전해 전지는 상용 Ir 또는 RuO2 기반 촉매를 적용한 수전해 전지에 비해, 산성 조건에서 산소 발생 반응시 우수한 성능 및 안정성을 모두 확보할 수 있는 이점이 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예를 제시한다. 그러나 하기의 실시예는 본 발명을 보다 쉽게 이해하기 위하여 제공되는 것일 뿐, 하기 실시예에 의해 본 발명의 내용이 한정되는 것은 아니다.
[실시예]
비교예 1: Pt 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
(1) Pt 나노로드의 제조
Pt 나노로드를 제조하기 위해, 교반 막대가 있는 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 Pt(II) 아세틸아세토네이트(Pt(acac)2, 97%, Sigma-Aldrich)(0.03 mmol), 1,2-헥사데칸다이올(1,2-HDD, technical grade 90%, Sigma-Aldrich)(1mmol) 및 올레일아민(OAm, 70%, Sigma-Aldrich)(12mmol)의 슬러리를 준비하였다. 튜브를 자기 교반기 상에 오일 배스에서 80 ℃에 놓고 숙성을 위해 2시간 동안 배기시켰다. 그다음, 1분 동안 가스 퍼징한 후 튜브를 1 atm CO로 충전하였다. Schlenk 튜브를 130 ℃로 예열된 오일 배스에 직접 놓고 온도를 4시간 동안 유지하였다. 4시간 후, 반응 혼합물을 상온으로 냉각시켰다. 어두운 침전물을 톨루엔 5mL 및 에탄올 35mL로 세척하고 원심분리하여 수집하였다. 동일한 과정을 3번 반복하였다.
(2) Pt 및 Ru 나노로드의 제조
Pt 나노로드(8mg), Ru(III) 아세틸아세토네이트(Ru(acac)3, 97%, Sigma-Aldrich)(0.02mmol), 1,2-HDD(0.5mmol) 및 OAm(15mmol)을 교반 막대가 있는 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 준비하였다. 튜브를 80 ℃의 오일 배스에서 10분 동안 진공으로 만들었고 1atm CO로 충전하였다. 그다음, 튜브를 260 ℃로 예열된 오일 배스로 옮기고 2시간 동안 온도를 유지하였다. 어두운 침전물을 톨루엔, 에탄올 및 클로로포름 10mL로 세척하였다. 혼합물을 원심분리하여 수집하였다. 동일한 과정을 3번 반복하였다.
(3) Pt 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
Pt 및 Ru 나노로드를 클로로포름에서 Vulcan 카본(XC-72R, Fuel Cell Store)와 혼합하여 지지체 상에 20wt%의 나노입자를 제조하였다. 촉매를 원심분리하여 수집하였고 진공 챔버에 보관하였다. 건조된 분말을 튜브로에서 40% O2로 균형을 맞춘 N2로 0.5 mL min-1의 유속으로 400 ℃에서 1시간 동안 열처리하였다.
비교예 2: RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
(1) Ru 나노로드의 제조
교반 막대가 있는 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 Ru(acac)3(0.30mmol), CTAC(0.05mmol), 1,2-HDD(2.00mmol) 및 OAm(45mmol)의 슬러리를 준비하였다. 튜브를 오일 배스에서 60 ℃에 놓고 10분 동안 배기시켰다. 튜브를 1atm Ar로 충전한 후, 튜브를 280 ℃로 예열된 오일 배스에 직접 넣고 온도를 2시간 동안 유지하였다. 반응 후, 반응 혼합물을 상온으로 냉각시켰고, 어두운 침전물을 톨루엔 및 에탄올로 세척하였다. 사용된 세척 과정은 위와 동일하였다.
(2) RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
Ru 나노로드를 클로로포름에서 Vulcan 카본(XC-72R, Fuel Cell Store)와 혼합하여 지지체 상에 20wt%의 나노입자를 제조하였다. 촉매를 원심분리하여 수집하였고 진공 챔버에 보관하였다. 건조된 분말을 튜브로에서 40% O2로 균형을 맞춘 N2로 0.5 mL min-1의 유속으로 400 ℃에서 1시간 동안 열처리하였다.
실시예 1: Pt(Co) 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
도 1을 참고하여, Pt(Co) 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매를 제조하였다.
(1) Pt(Co) 나노로드 제조
Pt(Co) 나노로드를 제조하기 위해, Co 전구체를 주입한 것을 제외하고는 비교예 1에서 Pt 나노로드 합성과 유사하게 수행하였다. 용액을 130 ℃에서 1시간 동안 CO 하에 둔 후, OAm(3mmol) 내 Co(II) 아세틸아세토네이트(Co(acac)2, 97%, Sigma-Aldrich) 스톡 용액을 1atm CO 충전 후 동일한 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 주입하였다. 동일한 온도에서 3시간 가열한 후, 반응 혼합물을 상온으로 냉각시켰으며, 톨루엔 5mL 및 에탄올 35mL를 가한 후 원심분리하였다.
(2) Pt(Co) 및 Ru 나노로드의 제조
Pt(Co) 나노로드(8mg), Ru(acac)3(0.02mmol), 1,2-HDD(0.5mmol) 및 OAm(15mmol)을 교반 막대가 있는 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 준비하였다. 튜브를 80 ℃의 오일 배스에서 10분 동안 진공으로 만들었고 1atm CO로 충전하였다. 그다음, 튜브를 260 ℃로 예열된 오일 배스로 옮기고 2시간 동안 온도를 유지하였다. 어두운 침전물을 톨루엔, 에탄올 및 클로로포름 10mL로 세척하였다. 혼합물을 원심분리하여 수집하였다. 동일한 과정을 3번 반복하였다.

실시예 2: Pt(Ni) 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
(1) Pt(Ni) 나노로드 제조
Pt(Ni) 나노로드를 제조하기 위해, Ni 전구체를 주입한 것을 제외하고는 Pt 나노로드 합성과 유사하게 수행하였다. 용액을 130 ℃에서 1시간 동안 CO 하에 둔 후, OAm(3mmol) 내 Ni(II) 아세틸아세토네이트(Ni(acac)2, 97%, Sigma-Aldrich) 스톡 용액을 1atm CO 충전 후 동일한 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 주입하였다. 동일한 온도에서 3시간 가열한 후, 반응 혼합물을 상온으로 냉각시켰으며, 톨루엔 5mL 및 에탄올 35mL를 가한 후 원심분리하였다.
(2) Pt(Ni) 및 Ru 나노로드의 제조
Pt(Ni) 나노로드(8mg), Ru(acac)3(0.02mmol), 1,2-HDD(0.5mmol) 및 OAm(15mmol)을 교반 막대가 있는 100mL Schlenk 튜브에 준비하였다. 튜브를 80 ℃의 오일 배스에서 10분 동안 진공으로 만들었고 1atm CO로 충전하였다. 그다음, 튜브를 260 ℃로 예열된 오일 배스로 옮기고 2시간 동안 온도를 유지하였다. 어두운 침전물을 톨루엔, 에탄올 및 클로로포름 10mL로 세척하였다. 혼합물을 원심분리하여 수집하였다. 동일한 과정을 3번 반복하였다.
(3) Pt(Ni) 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자 촉매의 제조
Pt(Ni) 및 Ru 나노로드를 클로로포름에서 Vulcan 카본(XC-72R, Fuel Cell Store)와 혼합하여 지지체 상에 20wt%의 나노입자를 제조하였다. 촉매를 원심분리하여 수집하였고 진공 챔버에 보관하였다. 건조된 분말을 튜브로에서 40% O2로 균형을 맞춘 N2로 0.5 mL min-1의 유속으로 400 ℃에서 1시간 동안 열처리하였다.
실험예 1: 구조적 특성
실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1에서 제조한 나노로드(PtCoRu NR, PtNiRu NR 및 PtRu NR), 이를 카본 지지체 상에 담지한 상태에서 열처리 전 나노입자(PtCoRu NR/C, PtNiRu NR/C 및 PtRu NR/C), 그리고 열처리 후 나노입자 촉매(PtCo-RuO2/C, PtNi-RuO2/C 및 Pt-RuO2/C)를 대상으로 투과전자현미경(TEM), 주사형 투과전자현미경(STEM), 에너지분산분광법(EDS) 및 X-선 회절법(XRD) 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석하였고, 그 결과는 도 2 내지 5에 나타내었다.
도 2(a)~(d)는 비교예 1에서 제조한 PtRu NR이고, 도 2(e)~(h)는 실시예 1에서 제조한 PtCoRu NR이며, 도 2(i)~(l)는 실시예 2에서 제조한 PtNiRu NR로서, TEM 및 EDS 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과를 나타낸 것이다.
분석 결과, 이들 나노로드는 모두 직경이 약 3 nm이고, 길이가 약 20 nm인 것으로 확인된다. 특히, 실시예 1 및 2에서 제조한 PtCoRu NR 및 PtNiRu NR의 경우, Pt, TM(Co, Ni) 및 Ru을 원소로 모두 포함하고 있으며, 이들 질량비가 약 66 ~ 71 : 2 ~ 5 : 26 ~ 30인 것으로 확인된다.
도 3(a)~(c)는 비교예 1에서 제조한 PtRu NR/C, 실시예 1에서 제조한 PtCoRu NR/C 그리고 실시예 2에서 제조한 PtNiRu NR/C로서, TEM 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과이다. 도 3(d)~(e)는 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 Pt-RuO2/C, 실시예 1에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C 그리고 실시예 2에서 최종 제조한 PtNi-RuO2/C로서, TEM 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과이다.
또한, 도 4(a)~(c)는 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 Pt-RuO2/C, 실시예 1에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C 그리고 실시예 2에서 최종 제조한 PtNi-RuO2/C로서, TEM 및 STEM 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과이다.
또한, 도 5(a)~(d)는 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 Pt-RuO2/C, 실시예 1에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C 그리고 실시예 2에서 최종 제조한 PtNi-RuO2/C로서, EDS 및 XRD 분석을 통해 구조적 특성을 분석한 결과이다.
분석 결과, 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매는 모두 Pt 도핑된 RuO2 나노입자이며 전이금속의 여부/종류에 따라 Pt의 도핑량이 상이한 것으로 확인된다. 특히, 비교예 1에서 최종 제조한 Pt-RuO2/C의 경우 Pt의 도핑량이 약 29.1 at%이나, 실시예 1에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C의 경우 Pt의 도핑량이 약 34.1 at%인 것으로 확인되어, 전이금속이 도핑됨에 따라 Pt의 도핑량이 증가한다고 볼 수 있다.
실험예 2: 촉매의 전기화학적 활성
실시예 1~2 및 비교예 1~2에서 최종 제조한 나노입자 촉매(PtCo-RuO2/C, PtNi-RuO2/C, Pt-RuO2/C 및 RuO2 NP/C)를 대상으로 질소가 포화된 0.1 M HClO4 전해질에서 선형주사전위법(LSV)를 측정하여 촉매의 전기화학적 활성을 분석하였고, 그 결과는 도 6에 나타내었다.
도 6(a)~(c)에 나타난 바와 같이, 실시예 1 및 2에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C 및 PtNi-RuO2/C는 촉매의 전기화학적 활성이 우수하고, 10 mA cm-2의 전류밀도에 도달하기 위하여 걸린 과전압이 낮은 것으로 확인된다. 또한, 10 mA cm-2의 정전류 환경에서 장기간 구동시 상용 촉매(com. RuO2/C 및 com. Ir/C)와 비교예 2에서 최종 제조된 RuO2 NP/C의 경우 촉매의 전기화학적 활성이 급격하게 감소하는 반면, 실시예 1 및 2에서 최종 제조한 PtCo-RuO2/C 및 PtNi-RuO2/C의 경우 20시간 이상 장기간 구동시에도 촉매의 전기화학적 활성이 안정적으로 유지되는 것으로 확인된다.
실험예 3: 촉매 반응 전후 전자구조 분석
실시예 1 및 비교예 1~2에서 제조한 나노로드를 카본 지지체 상에 담지한 상태에서 열처리 전 나노입자(PtCoRu/C, PtRu/C 및 Ru NP/C), 열처리 후 나노입자(PtCo-RuO2/C, Pt-RuO2/C 및 RuO2 NP/C) 및 24시간 촉매반응 후 나노입자(PtCo-RuO2/C - 24 h, Pt-RuO2/C - 24 h 및 RuO2 NP/C - 24 h)를 대상으로 XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) XANES(X-ray absorption near edge structure) 분석을 통해 열처리 전후 및 촉매 반응 전후 Pt 및 Ru 전자구조를 분석하였고, 그 결과는 도 7 및 8에 나타내었다.
도 7(a)~(e)에 나타난 바와 같이, Pt와 관련하여, 열처리 전 나노입자(Pt(Co)Ru/C 및 PtRu/C)는 모두 금속(metallic) 상태를 지님을 알 수 있다. 반면, 열처리 후 나노입자(Pt(Co)-RuO2/C 및 Pt-RuO2/C)는 모두 촉매의 d-밴드 홀수(d-band hole counts)가 증가하며 Pt가 일부 산화된 상태로 변화하는 것으로 확인된다. 이는 촉매 표면에 Pt가 산화된 상태로 존재하며 일부 도핑이 이루어졌음을 의미한다. 또한, 24시간 촉매반응 후 나노입자(Pt(Co)-RuO2/C - 24 h 및 Pt-RuO2/C - 24 h)는 모두 산소 발생 반응에 따라 Pt가 Pt(II) 및 Pt(IV)와 같이 산화된 상태로 더 많이 증가하는 것으로 확인되고, 즉, 촉매 반응에 따라 Pt가 추가적으로 산화하는 것으로 볼 수 있다.
반면, 도 8(a)~(e)에 나타난 바와 같이, Ru와 관련하여, 열처리 후 나노입자(PtCo-RuO2/C, Pt-RuO2/C 및 RuO2 NP/C)는 모두 Ru가 Ru(III) 및 Ru(IV)와 같이 일부 산화된 상태로 변화하는 것으로 확인되었고, 나노입자(PtCo-RuO2/C - 24 h, Pt-RuO2/C - 24 h 및 RuO2 NP/C - 24 h)는 모두 24시간 촉매 반응 후에도 Ru(IV) 보다 높게 과산화되지 않고 초기의 산화 상태를 유지하는 것으로 확인된다. 특히, Ru 3p3/2 XPS의 분석을 통해, 산화 상태를 분석한 결과, 비교예 2에서 최종 제조한 RuO2 NP/C와 달리, 비교예 1 및 실시예 1에서 최종 제조한 Pt-RuO2/C 및 PtCo-RuO2/C의 경우, 24시간 촉매 반응 후, 일부 Ru(IV)가 Ru(III)으로 다시 환원된 것으로 확인된다. 이는 Pt 및 Ru 간의 전자 전달이 일어나 Pt가 산화하는 대신 Ru 이 일부 환원된 상태로 변화하면서 Ru의 과산화를 효과적으로 막은 결과로 볼 수 있다.
전술한 본 발명의 설명은 예시를 위한 것이며, 본 발명이 속하는 기술분야의 통상의 지식을 가진 자는 본 발명의 기술적 사상이나 필수적인 특징을 변경하지 않고서 다른 구체적인 형태로 쉽게 변형이 가능하다는 것을 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 그러므로 이상에서 기술한 실시예는 모든 면에서 예시적인 것이며 한정적이 아닌 것으로 이해해야만 한다.
