Definitions
- the present invention relates to a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition
- a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition comprising castor seed oil, hydrogenated castor oil, vegetable wax and plant-derived oil.
- the skin In the human body, the skin is an organ that functions as a protective film that protects the living body from the external environment. It prevents loss of biological components, such as water and electrolytes, and at the same time prevents harmful substances from entering the human body from the outside. .
- Such skin is largely divided into an epidermal layer, a dermal layer, and a subcutaneous fat layer.
- the epidermal layer is composed of keratinocytes and melanocytes.
- the outermost keratinocyte layer of the skin directly contacts the external environment, so it requires strong resistance to physical, chemical or substance permeation, and prevents loss of moisture from the body to the outside. At the same time as giving it, it must maintain its flexibility by retaining adequate moisture in itself.
- the moisture content of the skin is about 70% in the dermal layer, but decreases toward the epidermal layer, and becomes about 10 to 30% in the keratinocyte layer.
- the water supplied from the dermal layer moves to the top of the stratum corneum mainly by passive diffusion and is finally discharged to the outside.
- This is called Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL), and it is known that the sebum component and epidermal lipid, which are lipid film components of the keratinocyte layer, maintain this transepidermal water loss at an appropriate level.
- TEWL Trans Epidermal Water Loss
- NMF Natural Moisturizing Factor
- the moisture content of the keratinocyte layer is less than 10%
- the skin becomes rough and loses the body's protective function, resulting in aging.
- the cohesion of keratinocytes is weakened, resulting in a scale phenomenon in which keratinocytes are peeled off like scales from the skin surface. This is because it is less than normal skin.
- even healthy skin may suffer from dehydration due to harsh external environments, such as wind, cold weather, sunlight, face washing, and shaving, resulting in poor skin condition.
- oil-soluble components play an important role. That is, in addition to forming an oil film to suppress moisture evaporation, the oil-soluble component acts to maintain moisture in the keratin by maintaining a certain amount of moisture, and the oil balm formulation is excellent in suppressing moisture evaporation of the oil-soluble component. It is known to be effective.
- oil balm formulation refers to a formulation in which oil having excellent moisturizing power is solidified, and is widely used as a moisturizing agent because it has the advantage of not flowing down due to its high hardness.
- Oil balms made of non-aqueous components are mostly composed of mineral components, and mineral components include paraffin oil, paraffin wax, liquid paraffin, petrolatum (vaseline), and mineral oil such as petroleum.
- Mineral oil is a colorless, transparent, and odorless mineral oil extracted from petroleum and has been used as a skin softener or moisturizer in numerous products until recently. These mineral ingredients may cause moisture evaporation from the skin when used in excess, and an allergic reaction may occur, so recent use is avoided.
- the present inventors mixed castor seed oil and hydrogenated castor oil in an optimal ratio and added vegetable wax and plant-derived oil to develop a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition with excellent feeling of use and moisturizing without using mineral components. Efforts were made to research. As a result, the present invention was completed by developing a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition that is composed only of plant-derived ingredients, has less skin irritation, is stable, and has excellent moisture retention due to high skin penetration with non-aqueous ingredients.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition
- a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition comprising castor seed oil, hydrogenated castor oil, vegetable wax and plant-derived oil.
- One aspect of the present invention relates to a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition
- a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition comprising castor seed oil, hydrogenated castor oil, vegetable wax and plant-derived oil.
- the non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition may be a solid stick formulation, but is not limited thereto.
- castor seed oil is a nonvolatile oil obtained from castor (Ricinus communis) seeds.
- Castor seed oil is an adhesive oil, has a very high viscosity and little change in heat, has a light yellow liquid phase, and is different from other fatty oils. It is also soluble in alcohol.
- Fatty acid components such as linoleic acid, palmitic acid, and oleic acid contained in castor seed oil play a role in maintaining skin moisture. It easily penetrates into the skin, facilitates the absorption of functional ingredients, and provides elasticity and gloss to help make the skin texture flexible and soft. It protects the skin by wrapping it with high viscosity and adhesion, and blocks moisture evaporation in the skin to prevent dryness and consequent aging.
- castor seed oil may be in liquid form.
- Hydrogenated Cator Oil is a hydrogenated vegetable oil, derived from castor seed oil that is liquid at room temperature, prepared by heating the oil under pressure in the presence of a nickel catalyst by adding hydrogen, , It has a more stable melting point and exists as a solid at room temperature Odorless and insoluble in water Hydrogenated castor oil is a hard, waxy substance that can be processed into fine wax granules.
- the hydrogenated castor oil may be in a solid state.
- the weight ratio of castor seed oil and hydrogenated castor oil may be 7:3 to 8:2, 7:4 to 8:2, 7:5 to 8:2, 7:6 to 8:2 However, it is not limited thereto.

- liquid castor seed oil and solid hydrogenated castor oil described in Table 1 were heated at 80 ° C. until complete liquid formation, homogenized at 70 to 75 ° C. for 3 minutes, and then hardened at room temperature to form a paste.
- sunflower seed wax which is a vegetable wax
- camellia seed oil which is a plant-derived oil
- Examples 1 to 5 and Comparative Example 2 were prepared according to the components and contents listed in Table 2 below.
- Comparative Examples 1 and 2 which are non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic compositions, were prepared by hardening, and the results of Comparative Example 1 are shown in FIG. 2.
- Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 The gloss effect of Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 was compared and evaluated. Specifically, after using Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 on the inside of the habak, which is a test site, it was measured with a Skin Gloss meter (Delfin, Finland) device to measure the gloss effect. After calculating the gloss change using the average of the three measurements, the two formulations were compared and evaluated, and the results are shown in Table 3 and FIG. 3 below.
- Example 1 compared to Comparative Example 1 showed a skin gloss unit increase rate of about 3 times higher. Through this, it was confirmed that the gloss of Example 1 was improved more than Comparative Example 1.
- Example 1 About 10 healthy male/female subjects were selected and skin moisture level was evaluated. A control group without application (no application), Example 1, and an experimental group with Comparative Example 1 applied were compared. The amount of moisture present in the skin epidermis was measured before the start of application, immediately after application, 2 hours after application, 4 hours after application, and 8 hours after application. The amount of moisture present in the skin epidermis was measured using a corneometer sensor. A corniometer is a machine that measures and digitizes the ion level of moisture to check the skin's moisturizing power. Skin moisture content was expressed in %, and was conducted under conditions of a constant temperature of 24 °C and a constant humidity (relative humidity) of 40%.
- the digitized electrical conductivity was confirmed on the screen through the sensor.
- the sensor was wiped with a tissue such as Kim's wipe, and the measurement was repeated several times at different measurement sites, and the change in moisture content over time was measured, and the results are shown in Table 4 and FIG.
- Example 1 Comparative Example 1 immediately after application 100.0 100.0 30 minutes after application 185.7 168.9 2 hours after application 178.6 154.4 4 hours after application 155.0 136.8 8 hours after application 138.2 123.0
- Example 1 As can be seen in Table 4 and FIG. 4, the skin moisture level of Example 1 was measured to be about 15% higher on average than that of Comparative Example 1. Through this, it was confirmed that Example 1, compared to Comparative Example 1, better prevents evaporation of moisture from the skin, has an excellent effect of preventing skin dryness, and has excellent moisturizing power.
- Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 were used on the forearm area, and then applied according to the following evaluation criteria: Satisfaction was evaluated and the results are shown in Table 5 below.
- spreadability refers to the feeling of spreading the composition on the skin.
- Stickiness refers to the degree of stickiness after applying an appropriate amount of the composition to the skin surface when applied to the skin.
- Shine means that the skin becomes shiny when applied to the skin.
- Example 1 Comparative Example 1 spreadability ⁇ ⁇ nutrition ⁇ ⁇ stickiness ⁇ ⁇ shine ⁇ ⁇ overall satisfaction ⁇ ⁇
- Example 1 received a higher evaluation than Comparative Example 1 in applicability, nutrition, stickiness, gloss and overall satisfaction.
- Example 1 included castor seed oil, hydrogenated castor oil, vegetable wax, and plant-derived oil at a certain ratio (w/w), and was highly evaluated for both nutrition and gloss, but Comparative Example 1 contained mineral components It showed a low evaluation in nutrition and gloss.
- the present invention relates to a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition
- a non-aqueous oil balm cosmetic composition comprising castor seed oil, hydrogenated castor oil, vegetable wax and plant-derived oil.
