Abstract
본 발명은 본 명세서의 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하는, 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공하기 위한 것으로, 화학식 1의 특정 구조의 반복단위를 포함함으로써 특히 내열성이 향상된 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공할 수 있다.

관련 출원(들)과의 상호 인용
본 출원은 2021년 8월 9일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2021-0104783호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원들의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 폴리카보네이트 공중합체 및 이를 포함하는 물품에 관한 것이다.
폴리카보네이트 수지는 비스페놀 A와 같은 방향족 디올과 포스겐과 같은 카보네이트 전구체가 축중합하여 제조되고, 우수한 충격강도, 수치안정성, 내열성 및 투명성 등을 가지며, 전기전자 제품의 외장재, 자동차 부품, 건축 소재, 광학 부품 등 광범위한 분야에 적용된다.
이러한 폴리카보네이트 수지는 최근 보다 다양한 분야에 적용하기 위해 2종 이상의 서로 다른 구조의 방향족 디올 화합물을 공중합하여 구조가 다른 단위체를 폴리카보네이트의 주쇄에 도입하여 원하는 물성을 얻고자 하는 연구가 많이 시도되고 있다.
특히, 최근에는 폴리카보네이트 수지의 응용 분야가 확대됨에 따라 폴리카보네이트 수지의 고유 물성은 유지하면서도 내열성의 향상이 필요하며, 이에 따라 다양한 구조의 반복단위를 폴리카보네이트 수지의 반복단위로서 도입하고자 하는 시도가 늘어나고 있다.
이에 본 발명자들은, 후술할 바와 같이 특정 구조의 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리카보네이트 공중합체가 특히 내열성이 향상됨을 확인하여 본 발명을 완성하였다.
본 발명은 특정 구조의 반복단위를 포함함으로써 특히 내열성이 향상된 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공하기 위한 것이다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 포함하는 물품을 제공하기 위한 것이다.
상기 과제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명은 하기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공한다:

상기 화학식 1에서,
R1 및 R2는 각각 독립적으로 수소, C1-10 알킬, C1-10 알콕시, 또는 할로겐이고,
n1 및 n2는 각각 독립적으로 0 내지 4의 정수이다.
본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위로 포함하여, 특히 내열성이 현저히 증가한 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공할 수 있다. 상기 화학식 1은 기존에 널리 사용된 비스페놀 A의 구조와 유사하나 4개의 고리가 융합된 구조를 가지고 있어 비스페놀 A와 비교하여 분자가 rigid한 구조를 가지고 있고, 또한 분자 내부에 질소를 포함하여 구조의 안정화를 통하여 내열성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
이하, 본 발명을 보다 상세히 설명한다.

상기 화학식 1에서, 바람직하게는, R1은 수소이다.
바람직하게는, R2는 각각 독립적으로, 수소, C1-4 알킬, C1-4 알콕시, 또는 할로겐이다. 보다 바람직하게는, R2는 각각 독립적으로, 수소, 메틸, 또는 클로로이다.
바람직하게는, 상기 화학식 1은 하기로 구성되는 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나이다:

상기 카보네이트 전구체로는, 디메틸 카보네이트, 디에틸 카보네이트, 디부틸 카보네이트, 디시클로헥실 카보네이트, 디페닐 카보네이트, 디토릴 카보네이트, 비스(클로로페닐) 카보네이트, 디-m-크레실 카보네이트, 디나프틸 카보네이트, 비스(디페닐) 카보네이트, 포스겐, 트리포스겐, 디포스겐, 브로모포스겐 및 비스할로포르메이트로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상을 사용할 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 트리포스겐 또는 포스겐을 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 화학식 1-1로 표시되는 화합물은 하기 반응식 1의 방법으로 제조할 수 있다.

상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위를 추가로 포함함으로써, 상술한 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위와 함께 2종의 반복단위를 포함하여, 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 물성을 조절할 수 있다. 예컨대, 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위는 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위에 비하여 내열성을 향상시킬 수 있으므로, 각 반복단위의 함량을 조절하여 원하는 내열성 물성으로 조절할 수 있다.
상기 화학식 2에서, 바람직하게는, X는 비치환되거나 또는 페닐로 치환된 직쇄 또는 분지쇄의 C1-10 알킬렌이며, 보다 바람직하게는 메틸렌, 에탄-1,1-디일, 프로판-2,2-디일, 부탄-2,2-디일, 1-페닐에탄-1,1-디일, 또는 디페닐메틸렌이다. 또한 바람직하게는, X는 사이클로헥산-1,1-디일, O, S, SO, SO2, 또는 CO이다.

상기 '단량체 화합물로부터 유래한다'의 의미는, 단량체 화합물의 하이드록시기와 카보네이트 전구체가 반응하여 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복 단위를 형성하는 것을 의미한다.
예컨대, 단량체 화합물로서 비스페놀 A와 카보네이트 전구체인 트리포스겐이 중합된 경우, 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복 단위는 하기의 구조를 가진다.

상기 카보네이트 전구체로는, 앞서 설명한 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복 단위의 형성에 사용할 수 있는 카보네이트 전구체에서 설명한 바와 같다.
폴리카보네이트 공중합체
상술한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하며, 이 경우 실질적으로 호모 중합체가 된다.
또한, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위 및 상기 화학식 2로 표기되는 반복단위를 포함하며, 이 경우 랜덤 공중합체가 된다. 이 경우, 바람직하게는, 본 발명의 상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위와 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위의 중량비는 10:90 내지 90:10이고, 보다 바람직하게는 15:85 내지 85:15이고, 가장 바람직하게는 20:80 내지 80:20이다.
바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 중량 평균 분자량(g/mol)이 10,000 내지 100,00이다. 보다 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 중량 평균 분자량(g/mol)이 15,000 이상, 20,000 이상, 25,000 이상, 30,000 이상, 또는 35,000 이상이고; 90,000 이하, 85,000 이하, 80,000 이하, 75,000 이하, 70,000 이하, 65,000 이하, 60,000 이하, 또는 55,000 이하이다.
바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 유리전이온도는 150 내지 220℃이다. 보다 바람직하게는, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 유리전이온도는 155℃ 이상, 또는 160℃ 이상이고; 215℃ 이하, 또는 210℃ 이하이다.
한편, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는, 앞서 설명한 화학식 1-1로 표시되는 단량체 화합물 및 카보네이트 전구체를 포함하는 조성물을 중합하는 단계를 포함하는 제조방법으로 제조할 수 있으며, 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하고자 하는 경우에는 상술한 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위 관련 단량체 화합물을 상기 조성물에 포함시켜 제조할 수 있다.
상기 중합 방법으로는, 일례로 계면중합 방법을 사용할 수 있으며, 이 경우 상압과 낮은 온도에서 중합 반응이 가능하며 분자량 조절이 용이한 효과가 있다. 상기 계면중합은 산결합제 및 유기용매의 존재 하에 수행하는 것이 바람직하다. 또한, 상기 계면중합은 일례로 선중합(pre-polymerization) 후 커플링제를 투입한 다음, 다시 중합시키는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 계면중합에 사용되는 물질들은 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 중합에 사용될 수 있는 물질이면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 그 사용량도 필요에 따라 조절할 수 있다.
상기 산결합제로는 일례로 수산화나트륨, 수산화칼륨 등의 알칼리금속 수산화물 또는 피리딘 등의 아민 화합물을 사용할 수 있다.
상기 유기 용매로는 통상 폴리카보네이트의 중합에 사용되는 용매이면 특별히 제한되지 않으며, 일례로 메틸렌클로라이드, 클로로벤젠 등의 할로겐화 탄화수소를 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 계면중합은 반응 촉진을 위해 트리에틸아민, 테트라-n-부틸암모늄브로마이드, 테트라-n-부틸포스포늄브로마이드 등의 3차 아민 화합물, 4차 암모늄 화합물, 4차 포스포늄 화합물 등과 같은 반응 촉진제를 추가로 사용할 수 있다.
상기 계면중합의 반응 온도는 0 내지 40℃인 것이 바람직하며, 반응 시간은 10분 내지 5시간이 바람직하다. 또한, 계면중합 반응 중, pH는 9이상 또는 11이상으로 유지하는 것이 바람직하다.
또한, 상기 계면중합은 분자량 조절제를 더 포함하여 수행할 수 있다. 상기 분자량 조절제는 중합개시 전, 중합개시 중 또는 중합개시 후에 투입할 수 있다.
상기 분자량 조절제로 모노-알킬페놀을 사용할 수 있으며, 상기 모노-알킬페놀은 일례로 p-tert-부틸페놀, p-쿠밀페놀, 데실페놀, 도데실페놀, 테트라데실페놀, 헥사데실페놀, 옥타데실페놀, 에이코실페놀, 도코실페놀 및 트리아콘틸페놀로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상이고, 바람직하게는 p-tert-부틸페놀이며, 이 경우 분자량 조절 효과가 크다.
또한, 본 발명은 상술한 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 포함하는 물품을 제공한다.
바람직하게는, 상기 물품은 사출 성형품이다. 또한, 상기 물품은 일례로 산화방지제, 열안정제, 광안정화제, 가소제, 대전방지제, 핵제, 난연제, 활제, 충격보강제, 형광증백제, 자외선흡수제, 안료 및 염료로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 1종 이상을 추가로 포함할 수 있다.
상기 물품의 제조 방법은, 본 발명에 따른 폴리카보네이트 공중합체와 산화방지제 등과 같은 첨가제를 믹서를 이용하여 혼합한 후, 상기 혼합물을 압출기로 압출성형하여 펠릿으로 제조하고, 상기 펠릿을 건조시킨 다음 사출성형기로 사출하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다.
상술한 바와 같이, 본 발명은 특정 구조의 반복단위를 포함함으로써 특히 내열성이 향상된 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제공할 수 있다.
도 1은, 본 발명의 제조예 1에서 제조한 화합물의 1H NMR(DMSO-d6) 데이터를 나타낸 것이다.
도 2는, 본 발명의 제조예 2에서 제조한 화합물의 1H NMR(DMSO-d6) 데이터를 나타낸 것이다.
도 3은, 본 발명의 제조예 3에서 제조한 화합물의 1H NMR(DMSO-d6) 데이터를 나타낸 것이다.
이하, 본 발명의 구현예를 하기의 실시예에서 보다 상세하게 설명한다. 단, 하기의 실시예는 본 발명의 구현예를 예시하는 것일 뿐, 본 발명의 내용이 하기의 실시예에 의하여 한정되는 것은 아니다.
이하 실시예 및 실험예에서 하기의 물성을 측정하였다.
1) 중량평균분자량(g/mol): Agilent 1200 series를 이용, PC standard로 검량하여 측정하였다.
2) 유리 전이 온도(℃): DSC Q100(TA instrument 사)로 측정하였다.
제조예 1: 단량체 1의 제조
둥근 바닥 플라스크에 o-페닐렌디아민(13 g; 120 mmol) 및 35% HCl(3.3 mL)를 넣고, 질소 가스로 30분간 퍼징한 후 1시간 동안 교반하였다. PP 화합물(10 g, 31.4 mmol)을 넣고 천천히 154℃까지 온도를 올린 후 22시간 동안 반응시켰다. 120℃로 식힌 후, 증류수(30 mL)와 35% HCl(15.4 mL)을 넣고 1시간 동안 교반하였다. 상온으로 식힌 후 여과하고, 증류수로 세척한 후 건조시켰다. 이를 NaOH 용액에 녹이고 charcoal로 흡착 여과 후 HCl에 침전시키고, 침전물을 회수하여 단량체 1을 제조하였다. 제조한 단량체 1의 NMR 데이터는 도 1에 나타내었으며, MS 데이터는 하기와 같다.
MS: [M+H]+ = 391
제조예 2: 단량체 2의 제조
o-페닐렌디아민 대신 3,4-디아미노톨루엔(15.4 g, 125.6 mmol)을 사용한 것을 제외하고, 상기 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 단량체 2를 제조하였다. 제조한 단량체 2의 NMR 데이터는 도 2에 나타내었으며, MS 데이터는 하기와 같다.
MS: [M+H]+ = 405
제조예 3: 단량체 3의 제조
o-페닐렌디아민 대신 4,5-디메틸벤젠-1,2-디아민(17 g, 125.6 mmol)을 사용한 것을 제외하고, 상기 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 단량체 3을 제조하였다. 제조한 단량체 3의 NMR 데이터는 도 3에 나타내었으며, MS 데이터는 하기와 같다.
MS: [M+H]+ = 419
제조예 4: 단량체 4의 제조
o-페닐렌디아민 대신 4-클로로벤젠-1,2-디아민(17 g, 125.6 mmol)을 사용한 것을 제외하고, 상기 제조예 1과 동일한 방법으로 단량체 4를 제조하였다. 제조한 단량체 4의 MS 데이터는 하기와 같다.
MS: [M+H]+ = 425
실시예 1: 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 제조
질소 퍼지와 콘덴서가 구비되고, 서큘레이터(circulator)로 상온 유지가 가능한 2 L 메인 반응기에, 물(620 g), 비스페놀 A(BPA; 98.34 g), 단량체 1(28.05 g), 40 중량% NaOH 수용액(102.5 g), 및 MeCl2(200 mL)를 투입하고, 약 10분 동안 교반하였다. 질소 퍼징을 멈추고 1 L 둥근 바닥 플라스크에 트리포스겐(62 g)과 MeCl2(120 g)을 넣어 트리포스겐을 용해시킨 다음 용해된 트리포스겐 용액을 천천히 상기 메인 반응기에 투입하고, 투입이 완료되면 PTBP(p-tert-butylphenol; 2.66 g)을 넣고 약 10분 동안 교반하였다. 이후 40 중량%의 NaOH 수용액(97 g)을 넣은 후, 커플링제로서 TEA(triethylamine; 1.16 g)을 투입하였다. 이 때, 반응 pH는 11 내지 13을 유지하였다. 30분 이후 반응을 종결하기 위해 HCl을 투입하여 pH를 3~4로 떨어뜨렸다.
그리고, 교반을 중지하여 유기층과 물층을 분리한 다음 물층은 제거하고 순수한 물을 다시 투입하여 수세하는 과정을 3회 내지 5회 반복 수행하였다. 수세가 완전히 이루어지면 유기층만 추출하고 메탄올을 이용한 비용매를 사용하여 재침법으로 폴리카보네이트 공중합체 결정체를 수득하였다. 이때, 제조된 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 중량평균분자량이 47,000 g/mol이었다.
실시예 2 내지 12: 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 제조
단량체 1 대신 하기 표 1에 기재된 단량체 및 사용량을 조절하는 것을 제외하고, 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 제조하였다. 이때 제조되는 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 중량평균분자량이 47,000이 되도록 반응 시간을 조절하였다.
비교예: 폴리카보네이트의 제조
상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 제조하되, 단량체 1을 사용하지 않는 것을 제외하고는 동일한 방법으로 폴리카보네이트를 제조하였다. 이때 제조되는 폴리카보네이트의 중량평균분자량이 47,000이 되도록 반응 시간을 조절하였다.
상기 실시예 및 비교예에서 제조한 폴리카보네이트 공중합체에 대하여, 유리 전이 온도를 측정하였으며, 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 나타내었다.

상기 표 1에 나타난 바와 같이, 실시예의 본 발명에 따른 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하는 폴리카보네이트 공중합체는 비교예의 폴리카보네이트에 비하여 유리 전이 온도가 높아짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 발명에 따른 화학식 1로 표시되는 구조가 폴리카보네이트의 구조에 포함됨에 따라 내열성이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있다.
Claims (11)
- 제1항에 있어서,R1은 수소인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제1항에 있어서,R2는 각각 독립적으로, 수소, C1-4 알킬, C1-4 알콕시, 또는 할로겐인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제1항에 있어서,R2는 각각 독립적으로, 수소, 메틸, 또는 클로로인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제6항에 있어서,상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위와 상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위의 중량비는 10:90 내지 90:10인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 중량평균분자량은 10,000 내지 100,000인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 폴리카보네이트 공중합체의 유리전이온도는 150 내지 220℃인,폴리카보네이트 공중합체.
- 제1항 내지 제10항 중 어느 한 항의 폴리카보네이트 공중합체를 포함하는, 물품.
