- the present invention uses a boot band to secure a sealing performance at the fixing portion when fixing a cylindrical boot having alternate thin-walled portions and thick-walled portions in the circumferential direction to the outer circumference of the outer joint member. aim.
- the present invention which has been made in order to solve the above-mentioned problems, is a cylindrical boot provided with a large-diameter end portion having thin-walled portions and thick-walled portions alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of an outer joint member using a boot band.
- a method for securing to the perimeter comprising: Fitting the large-diameter end of the boot to the outer circumference of the outer joint member, winding the boot band around the large-diameter end of the boot, and reducing the diameter of the boot band to reduce the boot. and tightening the large-diameter end of the A portion of the boot band to which an inner pressing force is applied when the diameter of the boot band is contracted is arranged in a circumferential region of the thin portion of the large diameter end portion of the boot.
- the present invention is characterized by aligning the boot band and the outer joint member in the circumferential direction before tightening the boot band. That is, when the boot band is tightened by reducing its diameter with a tool or lever, the part of the boot band that receives a pressing force in the inner diameter direction (the part that the tool abuts or the fulcrum of the lever) is the large diameter end of the boot. is arranged in the circumferential region of the thin portion of the boot. As a result, since the pressing force in the inner diameter direction is applied to the thin-walled portion of the boot, it is possible to suppress the amount of deformation of the boot in the radial direction and prevent deterioration of the sealing performance due to the deformation of the boot.
- a so-called omega type boot has ⁇ -shaped ears in a part in the longitudinal direction, and the ears are crimped from both sides in the circumferential direction to reduce the diameter of the boot band and tighten the boot. You can use the band.
- the boot band is tightened, by arranging the ear portion of the boot band within the circumferential region of the thin portion of the large-diameter end portion of the boot, deformation of the boot due to the pressing force in the inner diameter direction can be suppressed. .
- a so-called low-profile type boot band has a pair of tool pawls spaced apart in the longitudinal direction, and tightens the boot by reducing the diameter of the boot band by bringing the pair of tool pawls close to each other with a tool.
- the pair of tool claws of the boot band are arranged in the circumferential region of the thin portion of the large-diameter end of the boot, thereby suppressing the deformation of the boot due to the pressing force in the inner diameter direction. can be done.
- the boot band consists of a ring-shaped band body formed by joining both ends of a band plate-shaped member, and an arc-shaped ring-shaped member fixed to the band body with one end in contact with the band body and the other end separated from the band body.
- a so-called one-touch type boot band can be used in which the boot band is contracted by folding back the lever with one end of the lever as a fulcrum to tighten the boot.
- one end of the lever which serves as a fulcrum when the lever is folded back to tighten the boot band, in the circumferential direction area of the thin portion of the large diameter end of the boot, the pressing force applied to the fulcrum in the radial direction Deformation of boots can be suppressed.
- the outer joint member is supported from below by the support member, and the boot band is attached to the boot band in a state in which the convex surface provided on the upper end of the support member is fitted into the recess provided on the outer peripheral surface of the outer joint member. It is preferred to tighten the large diameter end of the boot. As a result, the outer joint member can be stably supported, and the work of setting the outer joint member on the support member is facilitated.

- the boot band 200 and the boot 20 are aligned in the circumferential direction so that they are arranged within the circumferential region R of 21S.
- the circumferential position of the boot band 200 with respect to the boot 20 is adjusted so that the circumferential center line C of the thin portion 21S of the boot 20 is arranged between the tool pawls 211 and 221 in the circumferential direction.
- the tool T2 is engaged with the first tool claw 211 and the second tool claw 221 from both sides in the circumferential direction, and the two tool claws 211 and 221 are brought closer to each other, thereby forming a ring-shaped boot band.

- the large-diameter end portion 21 of the boot 20 is arranged on the inner circumference of the ring-shaped band main body 301 of the boot band 300 while the outer joint member 2 is supported by the support member 30 from below.
- the band main body 301 of the boot band 300 is wound around the outer circumference of the boot 20 .
- the boot band 300 and the boot 20 are arranged such that one end 302a of the lever 302 of the boot band 300 (the end serving as a fulcrum when folded back) is disposed within the circumferential region R of the thin portion 21S of the boot 20. Circumferential alignment is performed.
- one end 302 a of the lever 302 is arranged on the circumferential center line C of the thin portion 21 S of the boot 20 .
- one end 302a of the lever 302 which serves as a fulcrum for folding, presses the folded portion 301a of the band main body 301 inward, so that the boot 20 is pressed inward.
- the one end 302a of the lever 302 is disposed within the circumferential region R of the thin portion 21S of the boot 20 as described above, the pressing force from the end 302a of the lever 302 is applied to the thin portion 21S of the boot 20. join. Therefore, the amount of deformation (the amount of compression) of the boot 20 can be suppressed as compared with the case where the thick portion 21L of the boot 20 is pressed radially inward. This can prevent deterioration of sealing performance between the boot 20 and the outer joint member 2 due to deformation of the boot 20 .
Abstract
