Definitions
- the invention relates to an inkjet printing device for printing a web-shaped recording medium with ink.
- the printing device comprises a printing unit with a plurality of printing bars, each having one or more printing heads, and a transfer printing carriage, which can be moved into and out of a space below the printing unit, for guiding the recording medium.
- the order printing carriage is arranged in a printing operating state in the space and guides the recording medium during printing. In a maintenance operating state, the transfer printing carriage is moved out of the space between the printing unit and the cleaning unit.
- Such a printing device with a transfer printing carriage is known in particular from the document DE 102013 106211 B4.
- the printing device disclosed there has the disadvantage that in the printing operating mode the cleaning unit is below the
- Transfer printing carriage is arranged and must be moved up to clean the print heads in the maintenance mode. This requires a relatively large amount of installation space in terms of height.
- a printer or copier for printing a web-shaped recording medium is known in which several modules and construction groups are provided.
- the printer or copier has an electrophotography module and a transfer module on both sides of a transport channel.
- the invention has for its object to specify an inkjet printing device ben, which is simple and modular and requires only a relatively small amount of space.
- An inkjet printing device with the features of claim 1 achieves that in the print operating mode the recording medium to be printed is correctly positioned with the aid of the transfer printing carriage and the space below the printing unit is free in the maintenance operating state, so that the at least one is arranged laterally next to the space in the printing operating state
- Cleaning element in maintenance operation is arranged in the space below the printing unit and there the upper half of the space arranged printheads of the printing unit can be cleaned.
- the cleaning elements can include spraying and/or wiping elements. The dirt particles and/or dripping cleaning liquid that are thereby released can then be collected in a collecting pan arranged below the room. This makes it easy to clean the print heads without requiring a lot of installation space in height.
- the order print carriage of the saddle module is used in particular in the print mode as a print saddle for positioning the recording medium relative to the print heads of the printing unit.
- the web-shaped recording medium can at least partially wrap around the transfer printing carriage both in the printing operating state and in the maintenance operating state.
- the transfer printing carriage in the printing operating state, can be arranged at least partially above an intermediate storage module for temporarily storing a section of the recording medium.
- An area for temporarily storing a section of the recording medium in the temporary storage module is preferably arranged below the collecting trough for collecting dirt particles and/or cleaning liquid in the maintenance operating state.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an inkjet printing device for printing a web-shaped recording medium with ink, with two alternatively usable drying units of a drying module;
- FIG. 2 shows a schematic view of modules of the ink jet printing device according to FIG. 1 from a first perspective
- FIG 3 is a schematic view of the modules of the ink jet printing apparatus of Figure 1 from a second perspective;
- Figure 4 is a detailed side view of modules of the ink jet printing apparatus of Figure 1;
- Figure 5 shows a simplified schematic arrangement of modules of an ink jet printing device of a further embodiment.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an inkjet printing device 10 for printing a web-shaped recording medium with ink, with two drying units 140, 240 of a drying module M4 that can be used alternatively in the inkjet printing device 10.
- the inkjet printing device 10 is in particular a high-performance printer which can print on the recording medium 12 shown in FIG. 4 at high speed, typically up to 3 m/s, in multicolor operation. Paper, packaging material, textile material, cardboard, foils made of plastic and/or metal or hybrid material, such as plastic or metal areas in paper, can be provided as the recording medium 12 .
- a housing 50 of the inkjet printing device 10 is open in the area of the drying module M4 so that, for example, the drying unit 140 can be removed from the drying module M4 and placed on a transport trolley 142 and another drying unit 240 can be inserted into the drying module M4 or vice versa.
- the drying unit 140 includes contact heating elements 144, which preferably include a heating saddle, over which the preferably web-shaped recording medium is guided, so that it contacts the surface of the heating saddle.
- the heating elements 144 are arranged on the front side of the drying unit 140, which is inclined downwards in the transport direction of the recording medium.
- At least one further contact heating element 144 and/or at least one cooling element for cooling the recording medium can be provided on the rear side of the drying unit 140, past which the recording medium is then guided past at an angle be arranged.
- the drying unit 240 comprises at least one radiant heating element 244, in particular an IR radiant heating element 244, past which the recording medium is guided to dry the ink applied during printing.
- the heating elements 244 are arranged on the front side of the drying unit 240, which is inclined downwards in the transport direction of the recording medium. At least one further radiant heating element 244 and/or at least one cooling element for cooling the recording medium can be arranged on the rear side of the drying unit 240, past which the recording medium is subsequently guided past at an angle.
- FIG. 2 shows a schematic view of the structural units of the inkjet printing device 10 according to FIG. 1 from a first perspective and FIG. 3 from a second perspective, with identical elements and/or elements with the same function having the same reference symbols.
- the drying unit employed in the inkjet printing apparatus 10 is designated generally by the reference numeral 40 and is either the drying unit 140 or the drying unit 240.
- the inkjet printing device 10 comprises a printing module M1 with printing bars, each of which comprises a plurality of printheads, a tension module M2 for feeding the web-shaped recording medium to be printed on to the inkjet printing device 10, a temporary storage module M3 for temporarily storing a section of the recording medium, e.g printing interruption, an electrical module M5 with a power section for power supply to the other modules and preferably a control unit for controlling and/or monitoring the electrical module M5 and/or other modules, an air extraction module M6, a cooling module M7 for cooling the print heads of the print bar of the print module Ml, a pull module M8 for outputting the printed recording medium, a cleaning module M9 with cleaning elements for cleaning print heads of the print module Ml, a liquid management module MIO for handling the ink, the primer and/or the residual ink and the cleaning liquid, a cooling module Ml 1 for cooling the Recording medium after drying and a saddle module M12 with a transfer printing carriage.
- a printing module M1 with printing bars each
- the recording medium is guided in a printing operating state of the inkjet printing device 10 over the transfer printing carriage 18 arranged opposite the print heads, so that the transfer printing carriage 18 serves as a printing saddle in the printing operating mode.
- the structure of the saddle module M12 and the function of the transfer printing carriage 18 are explained in more detail below in connection with FIG.
- the cleaning module M9 is arranged laterally next to the saddle module M12 and, as a cleaning element, comprises at least one spraying and/or wiping element, which in a printing operating state is arranged laterally next to the transfer printing carriage 18 of the saddle module M12 and thus laterally next to the printing module M1.
- the at least one spraying and/or wiping element is moved into the area below the printing module M1 in order to clean the printheads of the printing module M1 in a known manner.
- the arrangement of the pressure module Ml above the saddle module M12, the arrangement of the cleaning module M9 laterally next to the saddle module 12 and/or the arrangement of the liquid management module MIO below and preferably laterally next to the pressure module Ml is optimal in relation to a modular one shown in Figures 1 to 3 Structure of an inkjet printing device 10.
- the module MIO handles in particular liquids such as ink in areas 60 to 66, primer in area 68 and cleaning liquid in area 70 and residual ink.
- the post-processing of the recording medium takes place spatially separately from the printing module M1 and spatially separately from the areas in which liquids are handled, such as the liquid management module MILLION
- FIG. 4 shows a detailed side view of modules M1 and M12 of the inkjet printing device 10 for printing a web-shaped recording medium 12 with ink.
- the arrows on the recording medium 12 indicate its transport movement T.
- the print module M1 includes a print unit 14 in which several print bars 16 are arranged, each of which prints color separations of a primary color such as yellow, cyan, magenta, black.
- the pressure bars 16 extend over the entire width of the recording medium 12 and can have one or more print heads, from the nozzles of which droplets of ink are ejected onto the recording medium 12. In a printing operating state, the pressure bars 16 are stationary and the recording medium 12 is moved forward along a transport direction T under the printing unit 14 . Un below the printing unit 14 is a drip tray 17 for collecting cleaning liquid and dirt particles when cleaning the print heads of the printing unit 14 is arranged in a maintenance mode.
- the transfer printing carriage 18 of the saddle module which contains a plurality of rollers 20 (only one is designated) for guiding the recording medium 12, is arranged in a space R with the height w2 between the printing unit 14 and the collecting tray 17.
- the order print carriage 18 is movably mounted.
- the transfer printing carriage 18 has moved into the space R, so that the recording medium 12 is opposite the various printing bars 16 and can be printed with ink.
- the recording medium 12 forms a loop open to the left and is fed to the rollers 20 via a pair of rollers with rollers 22 and 23 and a deflection roller 24 .
- the recording medium 12 is carried away via a further deflection roller 26 and fed to subsequent modules, such as the intermediate memory module and/or the drying module M4.
- the transfer printing carriage 18 is slidably mounted, for example, on guide rails (not shown) and can be shifted to the left into a maintenance position shown in dashed lines to set the maintenance operating state, where it travels the path w1.
- the deflection roller 24 is moved together with the transfer printing carriage 18, so that the length of the loop of the recording medium 12 around the transfer printing carriage 18 is essentially maintained. Only at the left end of the sling can it be seen that there can be a certain difference in the length of the sling between the printing operating state and the maintenance operating state. This is compensated for with the aid of a compensating device 28, in which the deflection roller 26 is pivoted about a pivot axis 32 with the aid of a lever arm 30 and raised in order to compensate for this difference in length.
- the stationary deflection roller 22, which deflects the recording medium 12, also serves to compensate for length-neutral compensation.
- the movement of the transfer printing carriage 18 is length-neutralized overall, so that the recording medium 12 after the deflection roller 26 and before the rollers 22 and 23 does not experience any change in position as a result of this movement.
- the length of the loop of the recording carrier gers 12 between the rollers 22, 23 and the deflection roller 26 remains constant. This is very advantageous because in this way the recording medium 12 is fed to a downstream drying unit 40 without any variation in length or position. This avoids double drying of sections. Even when changing from the printing mode to the maintenance mode and back to the printing mode, there is no change in length or position, which leads to a continuous and smooth operation.
- the rollers 22, 23, 24, 20, 26 run freely in order to prevent the recording medium 12 from tearing.
- Other cleaning elements of the cleaning module M9 that are not shown, such as doctor blades, wiping elements and/or sealing caps for the pressure bar 16, are arranged laterally next to the space R in the printing operating state. In the maintenance mode, at least some of these cleaning elements are moved into the space R to clean the print heads.
- the transfer printing carriage 18 is moved to the left in the transport direction T in order to set the maintenance operating state. In other embodiments, it is also possible to move the transfer printing carriage 18 to the right, contrary to the transport direction T, in order to set the maintenance operating state.
- All solid units and modules of the inkjet printing device 10, in particular the printing unit 14, can be permanently mounted. Only a few elements have to be moved, e.g. cleaning elements of the cleaning unit 17 and the transfer printing slide 18.
- connection lines such as electrical lines for data transmission, sensors, actuators, optical-electrical data buses, etc. and hoses for the ink supply, cooling lines, etc. are required.
- the connection lines are optimally short, stationary and can be laid without a drag chain.
- the arrangement of the transfer printing carriage 18 in the printing operating state between the collecting tray 17 and printing unit 14 and the arrangement of cleaning elements in the printing operating state to the side next to the transfer printing carriage 18 result in a simple and compact design of the inkjet printing device 10, in particular the one explained in connection with Figures 1 to 3 modular structure of the inkjet printing device 10 is possible.
- Relatively small drives and simple guide rails are sufficient for moving the transfer printing carriage 18 and the cleaning elements.
- the technical outlay is comparatively small, even for a drag chain that may be necessary.
- the printing unit 14 of the printing module M1 in particular the pressure bars, are arranged in a stationary manner both in the printing operating state and in the maintenance operating state of the inkjet printing device 10.
- the electrical and/or liquid lines connected to the printing unit 14 can also be arranged in a stationary manner in the housing 50 of the inkjet printing device 10 . These electrical and/or liquid lines are not moved during the transition from the pressure operating state and the waiting operating state and their position is therefore not changed.
- the transfer printing carriage 18 can be arranged at least partially above a drying unit 40, 140, 240 of the drying module M4 for drying the recording medium 12 printed with the aid of the printing unit 14 of the printing module M1.
- the drying module M4 in particular the drying unit 40, 140, 240, comprises a cooling unit 44 with at least one cooling element for cooling the recording medium 12 after it has passed the heating element 144,244.
- the drying unit 40, 140, 240 comprises at least one heating element 144, 244.
- An emission region 146, 246 of the heating element 144, 244 is inclined downwards and/or upwards in the transport direction T of the recording medium 12, so that the emission region 146, 246 intersects a horizontal plane preferably at an angle in the range from 30° to 60°, in particular at an angle in the range from 40° to 50°.
- the emission region 146, 246 of a heating element 144, 244 is generally in particular the plane in which the heating element 244 emits thermal radiation or in which a contact region for contact between a heating element 140 designed as a contact heating element 140 and the recording medium 12 to be dried is arranged.
- the contact area of the contact heating element 140 is preferably formed by a heating saddle over which the recording medium 12 is guided.
- the emission region 146, 244 is arranged neither vertically nor horizontally in the transport direction T of the recording medium 12, but preferably in an inclined plane.
- the start of the emission area 146, 246 has a different height than the end of the emission area 146, 246.
- the recording medium 12 is moved at least in the area of the heating element 144, 244 along its emission area 146, 246 or parallel to its emission area 146, 246.
