Description
本発明は、鉄及びマンガンを含む原水を処理する水処理装置及び方法に関する。
井水など、FeやMnを含む水から純水を製造する場合、地中から汲上げた地下水は、通常、無酸素状態の還元性雰囲気にあることから、それに含まれる鉄およびマンガンは、いずれも2価のイオン(Fe2+およびMn2+)の状態で溶解している。特許文献1,2には、地中から汲上げた地下水に対して次亜塩素酸ナトリウム水溶液を注入することで次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを添加して2価イオンを3価に酸化し、水酸化物とした後、除鉄・除マンガン装置で濾過処理することが記載されている。
特許文献2に記載されているように、原水中にアンモニア性窒素が共存する場合、Fe2+とMn2+の酸化反応よりも先にアンモニアの酸化反応に次亜塩素酸ナトリウムが消費されるため、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを多量に注入する必要がある。
すなわち、原水にアンモニアとFe2+とMn2+とが共存する場合、有効塩素要求量は、NH4-N=1mg/Lに対し約10mg/L(理論要求量は約8mg/L)、Fe2+=1mg/Lに対し約0.6mg/L、Mn2+=1mg/Lに対し約1.3mg/Lである。そのため、例えばFe2+=3mg/L、Mn2+=1mg/Lの水に対する有効塩素要求量は約4.1mg/L as Cl2であるのに対し、Fe2+=3mg/L、Mn2+=1mg/L、NH4-N=3mg/Lの水に対する有効塩素要求量は約34.1mg/L as Cl2と著しく多くなる。
このように、原水にアンモニアが微量含まれるだけで、次亜塩素酸ナトリウム注入量が非常に多くなるので、薬品費が増える、薬注設備が大きくなるなどの課題が生じる。
また、原水にTOC成分が含まれる場合、塩素と反応してトリハロメタンが発生するリスクがある。
また、原水中のアンモニア濃度などが変動する場合は、ORP計を設置して不連続点管理を行い、十分な次亜塩素酸ナトリウム注入量となるように制御する必要がある。
本発明は、原水中のアンモニア濃度に影響を受けずにFeイオン、Mnイオンを酸化して除去することができる水処理装置及び方法を提供することを課題とする。
本発明の水処理装置は、鉄及びマンガンを含有する原水に対しオゾンを供給して酸化処理する手段と、酸化処理水を濾過する濾過器とを有する。
本発明の水処理方法は、鉄及びマンガンを含有する原水に対しオゾンを供給して酸化処理する工程と、酸化処理水を濾過する濾過工程とを有する。
本発明の一態様では、原水がさらにアンモニア性窒素を含有する。
従来法では、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムによりFeイオンとMnイオンを酸化していたが、本発明においては次亜塩素酸ナトリウムの代わりにオゾンを原水に供給してFeイオンとMnイオンを酸化し、濾過により除去する。オゾンは原水中のアンモニアと反応しないので、本発明によると、原水中のアンモニア濃度に影響を受けずにFeイオン、Mnイオンを酸化して除去することができる。また、原水に次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを添加しないので、トリハロメタンの生成リスクを低減できる。
以下、図面を参照して実施の形態について説明する。
図1は実施の形態に係る水処理装置を示すものであり、原水はオゾン反応槽1に導入され、オゾン発生機(図示略)からのオゾンガスが供給される。原水にSS(懸濁物質)やTOCが含まれる場合は、オゾン反応槽1の前段に凝集沈殿装置や加圧浮上装置などを設けてもよい。
オゾン反応槽1としては、エゼクタによりオゾンガスを原水に巻き込ませるものや槽内の下部にオゾンガス吹出ノズルを設置した構成を有したものなどを用いることができるが、これに限定されない。
オゾン反応槽1では、原水中に吹き込まれたオゾンガスにより原水中の2価のFeイオン及びMnイオンが酸化処理されて3価のイオンとなる。なお、未反応のオゾンガスは、オゾン反応槽1の上部から抜き出され、オゾンガス処理塔(活性炭塔など)等のオゾンガス処理装置に送られる。
オゾンの供給量は、原水中の2価のFeイオン及びMnイオンを3価に酸化するための合計当量の0.8~10倍、特に1~3倍程度が好適である。
3価のFeイオン及びMnイオンを含む水は、オゾン反応槽1から濾過器2に送水され、濾過処理されて処理水となる。この濾過器2内には、砂やアンスラサイトなどの濾材が充填されている。
濾材は、粒径0.1~1mm特に0.1~0.5mm程度の砂を濾材兼担体とし、その表面に触媒本体を担持したものであってもよい。この触媒本体は、上記砂を塩化マンガンや硫酸マンガンの水溶液に浸漬し、乾燥したのち、さらにこれを過マンガン酸カリウムなどの過マンガン酸塩の水溶液に浸漬し、乾燥して、砂の表面に形成したもので、MnO2・H2Oなどの酸化マンガン水和物を主体とするものである。この濾過砂の表面で、原水中に含まれるFeイオン,Mnイオンは酸化物の固体の微小粒子となり、この微小粒子は濾過砂の層によって濾別され、この層に捕獲される。これにより、濾過器2から、FeイオンおよびMnイオンが除去された処理水が得られる。
なお、濾過器2の入口側で凝集剤を添加し、析出するFeやMnの酸化物を凝集濾過するようにしてもよい。
また、オゾン反応槽1の入口側、または濾過器2の入口側でスライム抑制剤を添加し、濾過器2内でのスライム発生を防止するようにしてもよい。pH調整槽や中継槽などを任意の箇所に設置してもよい。余剰オゾン除去用の活性炭塔をオゾン反応槽以降の任意の箇所に設置してもよい。
本実施形態のオゾンによる酸化では、NH4-Nが共存してもFe2+とMn2+が優先的に酸化されるため、余分なオゾン注入が不要である。濾過器流出水中に残存したアンモニアは後段側に設置される純水製造プロセスにて除去可能である。
従って、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを添加する場合に比べて薬注量が大幅に低減され、薬品費の削減、薬品管理の手間の削減が可能である。この効果は、特に原水中のアンモニア濃度が高い場合に顕著である。
本実施形態にあっては、ORP計による管理が不要である。ORP計を用いない水処理方法としては、Fe2+とMn2+に対してやや過剰にオゾンを注入し、余剰オゾンは後段に活性炭塔を設けて除去するなどの方法が例示される。また、この実施形態によると、原水に次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを添加しないので、トリハロメタンの生成リスクが低減できる。
本発明の水処理装置及び方法は、純水製造システムの前処理プロセス等に好適に適用できる。図2は純水製造システムの構成の一例を示すものであり、前処理プロセス3として図1に示す水処理装置が設置されている。
前処理プロセス3の処理水(濾過器2からの処理水)は、純水製造プロセス4に送水される。純水製造プロセス4としては、イオン交換装置、逆浸透(RO)装置、電気脱イオン装置などの1又は2以上を備えたものが例示されるが、これに限定されない。
[実施例1]
Fe2+3mg/L、Mn2+0.5mg/L、NH4-N3mg/L、TOC 1mg/Lを含有する井水に対し、オゾンを2mg/L注入した。なお、オゾンをオゾンガスの形態で井水に注入した。

1分経過後、各井水を孔径1μmのメンブレンフィルタで濾過し、濾過水のFe、Mn、NH4-N及びTOC濃度を測定し、各々の除去率を算出した。結果を表1に示す。
なお、Fe、Mn、NH4-Nの濃度測定方法はそれぞれJIS K0101(工業用水試験方法)に規定された方法である。TOCはTOC計により測定した。
[実施例2,3]
オゾン添加量を5mg/L(実施例2)又は10mg/L(実施例3)としたこと以外は実施例1と同一条件で試験を行った。結果を表1に示す。

表1の通り、処理水のFe、Mn濃度はオゾン注入量が増加するにつれて低下した。また、アンモニアとTOCの除去率は低く、オゾンはアンモニアやTOCの酸化にはほとんど消費されないことがわかる。
なお、上記の井水に次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを添加して2価のFeイオン及びMnイオンを3価に酸化するために必要な有効塩素量とNH4-Nを酸化するのに必要な有効塩素量をそれぞれ計算した。
前述の通り、NH4-NをN2に酸化し、2価Feイオン及びMnイオン各1mgを3価イオンに酸化するのに必要な有効塩素量は、NH4-N=1mg/Lに対し約8mg/L、Fe=1mg/Lに対し約0.6mg/L、Mn=1mg/Lに対し約1.3mg/Lである。そのため、上記原水(NH4-N3mg/L、Fe2+3mg/L、Mn2+0.5mg/L)中のNH4-N、Fe2+、Mn2+を酸化するために必要な有効塩素要求量の合計は8×3+0.6×3+1.3×0.5=約26.5mg/Lである。NH4-Nが含まれない場合(Fe=3mg/L、Mn=0.5mg/Lのみの原水の場合)の有効塩素要求量は3×0,6+1.3×0.5=約2.5mg/Lであるので、原水がNH4-Nを含むことにより、NH4-Nを含まない場合に比べて約10.8倍の次亜塩素酸ナトリウムを注入する必要があることが分かる。
本発明を特定の態様を用いて詳細に説明したが、本発明の意図と範囲を離れることなく様々な変更が可能であることは当業者に明らかである。
