Abstract
본 발명은 절연층, 및 상기 절연층의 적어도 일면에 접합된 금속층을 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체로서, 상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머를 포함하고, 상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 특정 수학식을 만족하는 연성 금속 적층체에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 연성 금속 적층체는 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 향상되어 기계적 특성이 우수하다.
Description
본 발명은 연성 금속 적층체 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
최근 통신 및 차재용 시장은 4G에서 5G를 향하고 있으며, 그에 따른 각종 부품의 고성능화가 요구되고 있다. 5G의 경우 사용되는 주파수가 통신용은 기존 4G 최대 3.5GHz에서 5G 최대 28GHz, 차재용은 최대 70GHz까지 요구되고 있으며, 이에 따라 저 유전특성이 요구되고 있다. 이에 여러 산업계에서 유전특성을 낮추기 위한 재료 개발이 이루어지고 있다.
연성 금속 적층체는 주로 연성 인쇄회로 기판(FPCB)의 기재로 사용되고, 그 외에 면 발열체 전자파 실드 재료, 플랫 케이블, 포장 재료 등에 사용되고 있다. 이러한 연성 금속 적층체 중에서도 연성 동박 적층체는 주로 폴리이미드층과 동박층으로 구성되는데, 폴리이미드층과 동박층 사이에 에폭시 접착제층이 존재하는가에 따라 접착형과 비접착형으로 나뉘기도 한다. 상기 비접착형 연성 동박 적층판은 동박 표면에 폴리이미드를 직접 접착시킨 것이나, 최근 전자제품이 소형화, 박형화되고, 우수한 이온 마이그레이션 특성을 요구하는 추세에 따라 비접착형 연성 동박 적층판이 주로 사용되고 있다.
대한민국 공개특허 제10-2013-0027442호에는 제1금속층; 제1폴리이미드층; 상기 제1폴리이미드층 상에 형성된 불소수지가 분산된 폴리이미드층; 및 상기 불소수지가 분산된 폴리이미드층 상에 형성된 제2폴리이미드층;을 포함하고, 상기 불소수지가 분산된 폴리이미드층에서, 상기 불소수지의 단위 부피당 함량은 상기 폴리이미드층의 표면으로부터 전체 두께의 5 내지 10%의 깊이에서보다, 40 내지 60%의 깊이에서 더 크게 됨으로써, 금속층과의 접착력 및 유전특성이 향상된 연성 금속 적층판에 대하여 기재되어 있으나, 폴리이미드는 그 자체의 유전율이 높아 최근 요구되는 고속화 수준을 만족시키기 어려운 문제가 있다.
따라서, 기존에 사용되던 폴리이미드 절연체보다 유전율과 유전손실계수가 더 낮은 절연체를 이용한 인쇄회로 기판의 개발이 요구되고 있는 실정이다.
이와 관련하여, 액정 폴리머로 이루어지는 필름과, 회로(도체 패턴)를 구성할 수 있는 금속층을 적층시킨 적층체가 알려져 있다. 이 적층체는, 다층화에 의해 플렉시블 프린트 배선판을 형성할 수 있고, 그 경우에 배선의 고밀도화가 가능해서 가동이 넓은 이점을 갖고 있다.
이러한 적층체는 액정 폴리머로 이루어지는 필름과 금속층을 열접합하여 제조한다. 그러나, 기존의 적층체는 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 충분하지 않아 기계적 특성이 저하되는 문제점이 있었다.
본 발명의 한 목적은 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 향상되어 기계적 특성이 우수한 연성 금속 적층체를 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 다른 목적은 상기 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 또 다른 목적은 상기 연성 금속 적층체를 이용한 프린트 배선판을 제공하는 것이다.
한편으로, 본 발명은 절연층, 및 상기 절연층의 적어도 일면에 접합된 금속층을 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체로서,
상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머를 포함하고,
상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족하는 연성 금속 적층체를 제공한다.

본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 연성 금속 적층체는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층을 접합한 후 상기 접합된 적층체를 후열처리하여 제조되는 것일 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 후열처리는 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 수행될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 절연층은 단일층 또는 다층 구조를 가질 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 금속층이 구리를 포함할 수 있다.
다른 한편으로, 본 발명은 액정 폴리머를 포함하는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층을 열접합시키는 단계; 및
상기 열접합된 적층체를 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 후열처리하는 단계를 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법을 제공한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 후열처리하는 단계 이후에, 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족할 수 있다.

본 발명의 연성 금속 적층체는 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 향상되어 기계적 특성이 우수하다. 아울러, 본 발명의 연성 금속 적층체는 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합면에서 기포가 발생하지 않아 외관이 양호하고 절연층이 깨지는 현상이 방지될 수 있다.

이하, 본 발명을 보다 상세히 설명한다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태는 절연층, 및 상기 절연층의 적어도 일면에 접합된 금속층을 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체로서,
상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머를 포함하고,
상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족하는 연성 금속 적층체에 관한 것이다.

본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 연성 금속 적층체는 저유전 특성을 갖는 액정 폴리머를 포함하는 절연층, 및 상기 절연층의 적어도 일면에 접합된 금속층을 포함하고, 상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면의 C-O 결합과 C=O 결합의 농도 비율이 특정 범위로 제어됨으로써 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 향상되어 기계적 특성이 우수하다.
구체적으로, 본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 연성 금속 적층체는 상기한 바와 같이 상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족한다.

A는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 533.6 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 결합의 농도(%)이고,
B는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C=O 결합의 농도(%)이다.
상기 C-O 및 C=O 결합의 농도(%)는 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면에서 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼을 얻은 후, 각각 533.6 eV 및 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 및 C=O 결합의 피크 영역의 면적을 구하여 이들 면적의 상대적인 비율을 백분율로 나타낸 값이다.
예를 들어, 상기 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼은 연성 금속 적층체의 금속층을 에칭한 후 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면에서 후술하는 실험예에 기재된 방법에 따라 측정하여 얻을 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, (A/B) × 100 값이 7 미만이거나 22 초과이면 절연층과 금속층 간의 밀착력이 저하될 수 있다. 또한, (A/B) × 100 값이 22 초과이면 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합면에서 기포가 발생하여 외관이 불량하거나 절연층이 깨지기 쉬워질 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 연성 금속 적층체는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층이 적층될 수 있지만, 바람직하게는 도 1과 같이 절연층(200)의 양면에 제1금속층(100)과 제2금속층(300)이 적층된 구조를 갖는다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머를 포함한다.
구체적으로, 상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머(Liquid crystal polymer, LCP)를 포함하는 액정 폴리머 조성물의 경화물을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 액정 폴리머는 용융 시에 네마틱 결정성을 보이는 열가소성 플라스틱을 의미한다.
상기 액정 폴리머는 저유전율 및 저 유전손실계수(dielectric loss tangent)를 갖는 것을 특징으로 함으로써, 프린트 배선판에 적용하는 경우 빠른 전송속도에서도 신호의 전송 손실이 최소화될 수 있는 이점이 있다. 또한, 상기 액정 폴리머는 저흡수성 및 저흡습율을 가짐으로써, 전기 특성의 변화가 적은 이점이 있다.
상기 액정 폴리머는 당해 기술분야에서 사용되는 것을 특별한 제한 없이 사용할 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 액정성 폴리에스테르일 수 있다.
상기 액정성 폴리에스테르는 액정성 폴리에스테르아미드, 액정성 폴리에스테르에테르, 액정성 폴리에스테르카보네이트, 액정성 폴리에스테르이미드 등일 수 있다. 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르는 원료 단량체로서 방향족 화합물만을 사용하여 이루어진 전체 방향족 액정성 폴리에스테르인 것이 바람직하다.
상기 액정성 폴리에스테르의 예로는, 방향족 히드록시카르복실산과, 방향족 디카르복실산과, 방향족 디올, 방향족 히드록시아민 및 방향족 디아민으로 이루어지는 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나의 화합물이 중합(중축합)되어 있는 액정 폴리에스테르; 복수 종의 방향족 히드록시카르복실산이 중합되어 있는 액정 폴리에스테르; 방향족 디카르복실산과, 방향족 디올, 방향족 히드록시아민 및 방향족 디아민으로 이루어지는 군에서 선택되는 적어도 하나의 화합물이 중합되어 있는 액정 폴리에스테르; 그리고 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트 등의 폴리에스테르와 방향족 히드록시카르복실산이 중합되어 있는 액정 폴리에스테르를 들 수 있다. 여기서, 방향족 히드록시카르복실산, 방향족 디카르복실산, 방향족 디올, 방향족 히드록시아민 및 방향족 디아민은, 각각 독립적으로 그 일부 또는 전부를 대신하여 그 중합 가능한 유도체여도 된다.
방향족 히드록시카르복실산 및 방향족 디카르복실산과 같은 카르복실기를 갖는 화합물의 중합 가능한 유도체의 예로는, 카르복실기를 알콕시카르보닐기 또는 아릴옥시카르보닐기로 변환시켜 이루어지는 유도체(에스테르라고도 함), 카르복실기를 할로포르밀기로 변환시켜 이루어지는 유도체(산 할로겐화물이라고도 함), 및 카르복실기를 아실옥시카르보닐기로 변환시켜 이루어지는 유도체(산 무수물이라고도 함)를 들 수 있다.
방향족 히드록시카르복실산, 방향족 디올 및 방향족 히드록시아민과 같은 히드록실기를 갖는 화합물의 중합 가능한 유도체의 예로는, 히드록실기를 아실화하여 아실옥실기로 변환시켜 이루어지는 유도체(아실화물이라고도 함)를 들 수 있다. 방향족 히드록시아민 및 방향족 디아민과 같은 아미노기를 갖는 화합물의 중합 가능한 유도체의 예로는, 아미노기를 아실화하여 아실아미노기로 변환시켜 이루어지는 유도체(아실화물이라고도 함)를 들 수 있다.
예를 들어, 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르는 방향족 디아민에서 유래하는 반복 단위, 히드록실기를 갖는 방향족 아민에서 유래하는 반복 단위 또는 방향족 아미노산에서 유래하는 반복 단위를 적어도 1종 이상 포함하는 것일 수 있다.
상기 액정성 폴리에스테르가 상기 반복단위들을 포함하는 경우, 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르를 구성하는 모든 반복단위 전체 100 몰%에 대하여, 10 내지 35 몰%로 포함될 수 있다. 이는 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르가 상기 반복단위들을 2종 이상 포함하는 경우, 상기 2종 이상의 반복단위들 전체의 몰%가 10 내지 35 몰%라는 것을 의미할 수 있다.
예를 들어, 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르는 방향족 히드록시카르복실산에서 유래한 반복단위; 방향족 디카르복실산에서 유래한 반복단위; 및 방향족 디아민, 히드록실기를 갖는 방향족 아민 또는 방향족 아미노산에서 유래하는 반복단위를 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 액정성 폴리에스테르는 하기 화학식 1 내지 3으로 표시되는 반복단위를 포함하는 것일 수 있으며, 이들의 함량은 액정성 폴리에스테르를 구성하는 모든 반복단위 전체 100 몰%에 대하여, 각각 30 내지 80 몰%, 10 내지 35 몰% 및 10 내지 35 몰%일 수 있다.

상기 반복단위를 포함하는 액정성 폴리에스테르는 상기 방향족 히드록시카르복실산, 방향족 디카르복실산, 방향족 디아민, 히드록실기를 갖는 방향족 아민 또는 방향족 아미노산 대신, 에스테르 형성 성질을 갖는 유도체와 같은 이들의 에스테르 형성성 유도체를 사용하여 제조할 수도 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
카르복실산기를 갖는 화합물의 에스테르 형성성 유도체로는 예를 들면, 당해 카르복실기가 폴리에스테르를 생성하는 반응을 촉진하도록, 산 염화물, 산 무수물 등의 반응 활성이 높은 기로 되어 있는 것이나, 당해 카르복실기가 에스테르 교환 반응에 의해 폴리에스테르를 생성하도록, 알코올류나 에틸렌글리콜 등과 에스테르를 형성하고 있는 것 등을 들 수 있다.
방향족 히드록실기를 갖는 화합물의 에스테르 형성성 유도체는 예를 들면, 당해 방향족 히드록실기가 에스테르 교환 반응에 의해 폴리에스테르를 생성하도록 카르복실산류와 에스테르를 형성하고 있는 것 등을 포함할 수 있다.
아미노기를 갖는 화합물의 에스테르 형성성 유도체는 예를 들면, 당해 아미노기가 에스테르 교환 반응에 의해 폴리에스테르를 생성하도록 카르복실산류와 에스테르를 형성하고 있는 것 등을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위는 구체적으로, p-히드록시벤조산, 2-히드록시-6-나프토산, 4-히드록시-4'-비페닐카르복실산 및 6-히드록시-2-나프탈렌카르복실산으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상으로부터 유래하는 반복단위 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 화학식 1로 표시되는 반복단위의 함량은 이에 한정되는 것은 아니나, 이를 포함하는 액정성 폴리에스테르를 구성하는 반복단위 전체 100 몰%에 대하여, 30 내지 80 몰%, 바람직하게는 40 내지 70 몰%, 보다 바람직하게는 45 내지 65 몰%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 용매에 대한 용해성이 저하될 수 있으며, 상기 범위 미만으로 포함되는 경우 액정성을 나타내기 다소 어려울 수 있다.
상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위는 구체적으로, 테레프탈산, 이소프탈산, 2,6-나프탈렌 디카르복실산 및 1,3-벤젠디카르복실산으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 적어도 하나 이상으로부터 유래하는 반복단위 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 화학식 2로 표시되는 반복단위의 함량은 이에 한정되는 것은 아니나, 이를 포함하는 액정성 폴리에스테르를 구성하는 반복단위 전체 100 몰%에 대하여, 10 내지 35 몰%, 바람직하게는 15 내지 30 몰%, 보다 바람직하게는 17.5 내지 27.5 몰%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 함량을 만족하는 경우 용매에 대한 용해성이 보다 향상될 수 있다.
상기 화학식 3으로 표시되는 반복단위는 구체적으로, 3-아미노페놀, 4-아미노페놀, 1,4-페닐렌디아민 및 1.3-페닐렌디아민으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 하나 이상으로부터 유래된 반복단위 등을 들 수 있다.
상기 화학식 3으로 표시되는 반복단위의 함량은 이에 한정되는 것은 아니나, 이를 포함하는 액정성 폴리에스테르를 구성하는 반복단위 전체 100 몰%에 대하여, 10 내지 35 몰%, 바람직하게는 15 내지 30 몰%, 보다 바람직하게는 17.5 내지 27.5 몰%일 수 있다. 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 액정성이 저하될 수 있으며, 상기 범위 미만으로 포함되는 경우 용매에 대한 용해성이 다소 저하될 수 있다.
상기 폴리에스테르는 당 업계에서 통상적으로 사용하는 충전제, 첨가제 또는 1종 이상의 열가소성 수지를 더 포함할 수도 있다.
상기 충전제는 예를 들면, 에폭시 수지 분말, 멜라민 수지 분말, 요소 수지 분말, 벤조구아나민 수지 분말 및 스티렌 수지와 같은 유기 충전제; 또는 실리카, 알루미나, 산화티탄, 지르코니아, 카올린, 탄산칼슘 및 인산칼슘과 같은 무기 충전제; 등을 들 수 있고, 상기 첨가제는 커플링제, 침강 방지제, UV 흡수제, 열 안정화제 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 열가소성 수지는 예를 들면, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리아미드, 폴리페닐렌 술피드, 폴리에테르 케톤, 폴리카보네이트, 폴리에테르 술폰, 폴리페닐 에테르 및 이의 변성 중합체, 및 폴리에테르 이미드, 글리시딜 메타크릴레이트와 에틸렌의 공중합체와 같은 엘라스토머 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
전술한 액정 폴리머는 용매에 분산된 형태로 사용될 수 있으며, 이 때 사용되는 용매는 예를 들어, 비양성자성 용매일 수 있는데, 구체적으로 1-클로로부탄, 클로로벤젠, 1,1-디클로로에탄, 1,2-디클로로에탄, 클로로포름 및 1,1,2,2-테트라클로로에탄과 같은 할로겐 용매; 디에틸 에테르, 테트라하이드로푸란 및 1,4-디옥산과 같은 에테르 용매; 아세톤 및 시클로헥사논과 같은 케톤 용매; 에틸 아세테이트와 같은 에스테르 용매; γ-부티로락톤과 같은 락톤 용매; 에틸렌 카보네이트 및 프로필렌 카보네이트와 같은 카보네이트 용매; 트리에틸아민 및 피리딘과 같은 아민 용매; 아세토니트릴 및 숙시노니트릴과 같은 니트릴 용매; N,N'-디메틸 포름아미드, N,N'-디메틸 아세토아미드, 테트라메틸우레아 및 N-메틸피롤리돈과 같은 아미드 용매; 니트로메탄 및 니트로벤젠과 같은 니트로 용매; 디메틸술폭시드 및 술폴란과 같은 술피드 용매; 및 헥사메틸포스포르아미드 및 트리-n-부틸포스페이트와 같은 포스페이트 용매 등을 들 수 있고, 바람직하게는 환경에 대한 영향을 고려하여 할로겐 원자를 포함하지 않는 용매를 사용할 수 있으며, 용해성의 관점에서는 쌍극자 모멘트가 3 내지 5인 용매를 사용할 수 있다. 상기 쌍극자 모멘트가 3 내지 5인 용매로는 예를 들어, N,N'-디메틸 포름아미드, N,N'-디메틸 아세토아미드, 테트라메틸우레아 및 N-메틸피롤리돈과 같은 아미드 용매, 및 γ-부티로락톤과 같은 락톤 용매 등을 들 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 N,N'-디메틸 포름아미드, N,N'-디메틸 아세토아미드 및 N-메틸피롤리돈 등을 들 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따르면, 상기 액정 폴리머의 함량은 조성물 중 고형분 전체 100 중량%에 대하여, 5 내지 50 중량%로 포함될 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 10 내지 40 중량%, 보다 바람직하게는 20 내지 40 중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
상기 액정 폴리머의 함량이 전술한 범위 미만일 경우 이를 포함하는 조성물의 도공 시 조성물이 흘러내리는 등 가공성에 문제가 발생할 수 있으며, 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 점도의 향상으로 인해 도공 시 두께 조절이 다소 어려운 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
상기 액정 폴리머 조성물은 전술한 성분들 이외에 무기 충전제 또는 계면 활성제를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 무기 충전제의 종류는 당 업계에서 사용되는 것을 특별한 제한 없이 사용할 수 있으며, 예를 들면, 실리카, 실리카 나이트라이드, 알루미나, 알루미늄 나이트라이드, 보론 나이트라이드 등을 들 수 있고, 바람직하게는 실리카 충진제, 예컨대 천연 실리카, 합성 실리카, 용융 실리카 등을 사용할 수 있으며, 이들은 각각 단독으로 또는 2종 이상을 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다. 이와 같이 본 발명의 액정 폴리머 조성물이 무기 충전제를 더 포함하는 경우, 불소계 수지로 인해 증가하는 열팽창계수를 현저하게 감소시킬 수 있어 내구성이 향상될 수 있는 이점이 있다.
상기 무기 충전제의 평균 입경은 본 발명에서 특별히 한정하는 것은 아니지만, 예를 들면 0.05 내지 20㎛, 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 10㎛, 보다 바람직하게는 0.1 내지 5㎛일 수 있다. 상기 무기 충전제의 평균 입경이 상기 범위 미만인 경우 무기 충천제의 표면적이 증가하여 이로부터 제조되는 액정 폴리머층의 물성이 다소 저하되거나 분산제 등의 첨가제의 첨가량이 다소 증가되는 문제가 발생할 수 있고, 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 액정 폴리머층의 표면 특성이 저하되거나 상기 폴리머층을 형성하기 위한 조성물의 분산성이 다소 저하되는 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따르면, 상기 무기 충전제는 조성물 중 고형분 전체 100 중량%에 대하여 20 내지 40 중량%로 포함될 수 있다. 상기 무기 충전제의 함량이 20 중량% 미만이면 열팽창계수가 상승할 수 있고, 무기 충전제 함량이 40 중량% 초과이면 유전특성이 저하될 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 계면활성제의 종류는 본 발명에서 특별히 한정하지는 않고, 당 업계에서 사용되는 것을 제한 없이 사용할 수 있다. 상기 액정 폴리머 조성물이 계면활성제를 포함하는 경우 조성물 내 각 구성 성분들의 분산성을 보다 향상시킬 수 있는 이점이 있다.
상기 계면활성제는 예를 들면, 불소계 계면활성제 또는 실리콘계 계면활성제 등을 들 수 있으며, 상기 불소계 계면활성제는 바람직하게는 비이온성 유기 계면활성제일 수 있다. 상기 불소계 계면활성제는 예를 들면, 시판품으로서 AGC 사의 AGC-71L, S-381, S-383, S-393, SC-101, Sc-105, KH-40, SA-100, S-611, S-386, S-221, S-231, S-243, S-420, S-651, 다이닛본 잉크 가가꾸 고교사의 메가피스 F-470, F-471, F-475, F-482 및/또는 F-489 등을 들 수 있고, 상기 실리콘계 계면활성제는 예를 들면, 시판품으로서 다우코닝 도레이 실리콘사의 DC3PA, DC7PA, SH11PA, SH21PA 및/또는 SH8400 등이 있다. 그리고 GE 도시바 실리콘사의 TSF-4440, TSF-4300, TSF-4445, TSF-4446, TSF-4460 및/또는 TSF-4452 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들은 각각 단독으로 또는 2종 이상을 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 절연층은 단일층 또는 다층 구조를 가질 수 있다. 상기 절연층은 보이드를 포함하지 않는 보이드 무함유 절연층으로 구성될 수 있다.
상기 절연층의 두께는 5 내지 100㎛일 수 있고, 바람직하게는 5 내지 75㎛, 보다 바람직하게는 8 내지 50㎛일 수 있다. 상기 절연층의 두께가 상기 범위 미만일 경우 고주파 영역에서 전송 손실률이 다소 증가되는 문제가 발생할 수 있으며, 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 제품의 박막화가 다소 어려운 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
상기 연성 금속 적층체는 절연층과 금속층을 접합한 후 상기 접합된 적층체를 후열처리하여 제조되는 것일 수 있다.
상기 후열처리를 통해 (A/B) × 100 값을 7 이상 22 이하로 조절할 수 있다.
상기 후열처리는 250 내지 350℃, 바람직하게는 280 내지 320℃에서 100 내지 280초, 바람직하게는 120 내지 240초 동안 수행될 수 있다. 상기 후열처리 온도가 250℃ 미만이면 (A/B) × 100 값을 7 이상 22 이하로 조절하기 어려워 절연층과 금속층 간의 밀착력이 저하될 수 있고, 350℃ 초과이면 절연층의 액정 폴리머의 열분해 온도를 넘어서 아웃 가스(out gas)에 의해 기포가 발생하여 내열성 및/또는 기계적 물성이 저하될 수 있다. 상기 후열처리 시간이 100초 미만이면 (A/B) × 100 값을 7 이상 22 이하로 조절하기 어려워 절연층과 금속층 간의 밀착력이 저하될 수 있고, 280초 초과이면 절연층의 미세 기포 발생이 증가하여 밀착력 저하와 함께 외관 불량이 동시에 발생할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에서, 상기 제1금속층 및 제2금속층은 각각 독립적으로 구리, 철, 니켈, 티타늄, 알루미늄, 은 및 금으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 하나 이상의 금속 또는 합금의 박막일 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 전기전도도가 우수하고, 가격이 저렴한 구리 박막, 즉 동박층일 수 있으나, 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다. 상기 동박층은 전해에 의해 형성된 층이거나 압연에 의해 형성된 층일 수 있다.
상기 제1금속층 및 제2금속층의 두께는 본 발명에서 특별히 한정하는 것은 아니나, 바람직하게는 각각 독립적으로 5 내지 20㎛의 두께일 수 있다. 상기 금속층들의 두께가 전술한 범위 미만인 경우 이를 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체에 발열 문제가 발생할 수 있으며, 상기 범위를 초과하는 경우 이를 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체의 굴곡성이 다소 저하되는 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태는 상기 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태에 따른 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법은
액정 폴리머를 포함하는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층을 열접합시키는 단계; 및
상기 열접합된 적층체를 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 후열처리하는 단계를 포함한다.
상기 절연층의 구성 성분, 층 구조, 두께 등은 상기 연성 금속 적층체에서 설명한 바와 동일하다.
상기 금속층의 구성 성분 및 두께 등은 상기 연성 금속 적층체에서 설명한 바와 동일하다.
상기 절연층과 금속층의 접합은 열접합 방식에 의해 접합될 수 있으나, 필요에 따라 각 층의 접합을 위해 점착제 또는 접착제층을 더 포함할 수도 있다.
상기 열접합은 열롤, 더블밸트프레스, 가열판 또는 이들을 병용한 방법을 사용할 수 있다.
상기 열접합은 200 내지 350℃의 온도 조건 하에서, 4 내지 15MPa의 압력으로 수행될 수 있다.
상기 열접합 단계 이후 적층체를 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 후열처리하는 단계를 수행한다.
상기 후열처리 조건에 대해서는 상기 연성 금속 적층체에서 설명한 바와 동일하다.
상기 후열처리하는 단계 이후에, 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족할 수 있다.

상기 수학식 1은 상기 연성 금속 적층체에서 설명한 바와 동일하다.
상기 후열처리 단계를 통해 상기 절연층과 금속층 간의 접합력이 향상될 수 있으며, 이에 따라 성형성이 개선되고, 가혹 조건, 예를 들어 고온 및/또는 열충격 하에서 내구성을 확보할 수 있으며, 연성 회로 기판 제작시 신호손실율의 증가를 방지할 수 있다.
본 발명의 일 실시형태는 상기 연성 금속 적층체를 이용한 프린트 배선판에 관한 것이다.
상기 프린트 배선판은 적층체의 적어도 하나의 구리층에 에칭 등을 통해 회로 패턴을 형성하여 제조될 수 있다.
상기 프린트 배선판은 플렉서블 프린트 배선판일 수 있다.
이하, 실시예, 비교예 및 실험예에 의해 본 발명을 보다 구체적으로 설명하고자 한다. 이들 실시예, 비교예 및 실험예는 오직 본 발명을 설명하기 위한 것으로, 본 발명의 범위가 이들에 국한되지 않는다는 것은 당업자에게 있어서 자명하다.
실시예 1: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
액정 폴리머 필름(두께 50㎛, Chiyoda Integre사)의 상면 및 하면에 동박 기재(두께 12㎛, 제조사 미쓰이, 제품명 SP-2)를 적층한 후, 진공 프레스기(Kitagawa Seiki사, Model-KVHC)에 투입한 후, 온도 275℃(승온 60분, 유지 5분, 하온 60분), 면압 9MPa, 진공도 0.1kPa 하에서 가압하였다. 생성된 적층체를 열풍 오븐기(Espec사, Model-IPHH-202)에 투입한 후, 온도 300℃ 하에서 120초 동안 후열처리하여 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
실시예 2: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 180초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
실시예 3: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 240초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
실시예 4: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 280초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
비교예 1: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 60초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
비교예 2: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 90초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
비교예 3: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 300초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
비교예 4: 연성 금속 적층체의 제조
적층체를 450초 동안 후열처리하는 것을 제외하고 상기 실시예 1과 동일한 방법으로 연성 금속 적층체를 제조하였다.
실험예 1: O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼 측정
상기 실시예 및 비교예의 연성 금속 적층체의 동박을 에칭한 후 절연층의 동박과의 접합면에서 X-선 광전자 분광법 (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, XPS)으로 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼을 얻었다. 이때 동박의 에칭은 무독성 에칭파우더(SME 교역사) 200g을 물 1 L에 희석하여 90℃로 가열한 후, 연성 금속 적층체 시편을 침전시켜 진행하였다.
비교를 위하여, 액정 폴리머 필름(두께 50㎛, Chiyoda Integre사) 표면에서 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼을 얻었다.
XPS 분석을 위해서 Ulvac-PHI사의 QuanteraII XPS 장비를 사용하였으며, 측정 조건은 다음과 같았다.
도달 진공도: 3.8 × 10-7 Torr
여기원: 단색화 Al Kα(1486.6 eV)
출력: 50 W, 15kV
검출 면적: 200 ㎛φ
입사각: 45°
취출각: 45°
Pass energy: 55eV
중화총: 1.0V, 20.0㎂
액정 폴리머 필름 표면에서 얻어진 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼을 도 2에 나타내었다.
아울러, 실시예 1 내지 4 및 비교예 1 내지 4에서 제조된 연성 금속 적층체의 절연층의 동박과의 접합면에서 얻어진 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼을 각각 도 3 내지 도 10에 나타내었다.
얻어진 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서, 각각 533.6 eV 및 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 및 C=O 결합의 피크 영역의 면적을 구하여 이들 면적의 상대적인 비율을 백분율로 나타낸 값을 각각 A 및 B라 하였다. 즉, A는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 533.6 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 결합의 농도(%)이고, B는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C=O 결합의 농도(%)이다.
상기 A 및 B를 이용하여 (A/B) × 100 값을 구하였으며, 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 기재하였다.
실험예 2: 밀착력
연성 금속 적층체를 100mm×10mm 크기로 잘라 평가용 시편을 준비하였다. 절연층과 동박 간의 밀착력을 UTM(Shimadzu사) 측정기를 이용하여 박리각도 90˚, 박리 속도 50mm/min의 조건으로 측정하였으며, 3개의 시편을 측정하여 평균값을 구하였다. 그 결과를 하기 표 1에 기재하였다.
실험예 3: 외관 특성
상기 실시예 및 비교예의 연성 금속 적층체의 동박을 에칭한 후 절연층의 동박과의 접합면을 육안 및 현미경(광학현미경, 100배율)을 통해 관찰하여 하기 평가 기준에 따라 평가하였다. 이때 동박의 에칭은 무독성 에칭파우더(SME 교역사) 200g을 물 1 L에 희석하여 90℃로 가열한 후, 연성 금속 적층체 시편을 침전시켜 진행하였다.

상기 표 1을 통해, 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, (A/B) × 100 값이 7 이상 22 이하인 실시예 1 내지 4의 연성 금속 적층체는 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층에 기포 발생이 억제되고 금속층과의 밀착력도 향상되어 기계적 특성이 향상될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.
반면, 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, (A/B) × 100 값이 22 초과인 비교예 1, 3 및 4의 연성 금속 적층체는 액정 폴리머 함유 절연층에 기포가 발생하여 외관이 불량하거나 금속층과의 밀착력이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, (A/B) × 100 값이 7 미만인 비교예 2의 연성 금속 적층체는 금속층과의 밀착력이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다.

Claims (8)
- 절연층, 및 상기 절연층의 적어도 일면에 접합된 금속층을 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체로서,상기 절연층은 액정 폴리머를 포함하고,상기 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족하는 연성 금속 적층체:[수학식 1]7 ≤ (A/B) × 100 ≤ 22상기 식에서,A는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 533.6 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 결합의 농도(%)이고,B는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C=O 결합의 농도(%)이다.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 연성 금속 적층체는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층을 접합한 후 상기 접합된 적층체를 후열처리하여 제조되는 것인 연성 금속 적층체.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 후열처리는 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 수행되는 연성 금속 적층체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 절연층은 단일층 또는 다층 구조를 가지는 연성 금속 적층체.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 금속층이 구리를 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체.
- 액정 폴리머를 포함하는 절연층의 적어도 일면에 금속층을 열접합시키는 단계; 및상기 열접합된 적층체를 250 내지 350℃에서 100 내지 280초 동안 후열처리하는 단계를 포함하는 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 후열처리하는 단계 이후에, 절연층의 금속층과의 접합면을 엑스선 광전자 분광법(XPS)으로 측정시, 하기 수학식 1을 만족하는 연성 금속 적층체의 제조방법:[수학식 1]7 ≤ (A/B) × 100 ≤ 22상기 식에서,A는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 533.6 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C-O 결합의 농도(%)이고,B는 O1s의 XPS 스펙트럼에서 531.9 eV의 결합 에너지에 해당하는 C=O 결합의 농도(%)이다.
- 제1항 내지 제5항 중 어느 한 항의 연성 금속 적층체를 이용한 프린트 배선판.
