Definitions
- the present invention relates to a glass cloth, a prepreg containing the glass cloth, and a glass fiber reinforced resin molded product containing the glass cloth.
- a prepreg in which a glass cloth is impregnated with a resin such as an epoxy resin has been used as an insulating material in a printed wiring board.
- the glass cloth is composed of warp threads and weft threads formed by bundling a plurality of glass filaments.
- the glass cloth described in Patent Document 1 cannot be sufficiently lightened or thinned because the weaving density is 100 pieces / 25 mm or more. Furthermore, since many glass threads are used, it takes time to prepare the warp threads in the weaving machine and to prepare the warp threads in the weaving process and to prepare the warp threads at the time of manufacturing. Since the number of weaving times increases and the weaving time per unit length becomes longer, there is a disadvantage that workability and manufacturing efficiency are poor.
- the present invention can eliminate such inconveniences, sufficiently reduce the weight, improve workability and manufacturing efficiency, and even when the weaving density is less than 100 pieces / 25 mm and the thickness is reduced to less than 10 ⁇ m. It is an object of the present invention to provide a glass cloth capable of suppressing the occurrence of pinholes in a prepreg containing the same.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a prepreg containing the glass cloth and a glass fiber reinforced resin molded product containing the glass cloth.
- the glass cloth of the present invention is a warp yarn formed by focusing glass filaments having a circle-equivalent diameter in the range of 3.0 to 4.4 ⁇ m in the range of 30 to 44.
- the weft, the weft density of the warp and the weft is in the range of 85 to 125 threads / 25 mm, respectively, and at least one of the warp and the weft is made of a flat glass filament having a flat cross-sectional shape.
- the weaving density is less than 100 pieces / 25 mm
- the major axis DL of the flat cross section of the flat glass filament is in the range of 3.3 to 6.0 ⁇ m

- the twist number T of the flat glass yarn is 0.70 times / 25 mm. It is characterized in that the number F of the flat glass filaments constituting the flat glass yarn, the number of twists T, the major axis DL, and the minor axis DS satisfy the following equation (1).
- the warp and the weft each have glass filaments having a circle-equivalent diameter in the range of 3.0 to 4.4 ⁇ m focused in the range of 30 to 44. ..
- the circle-equivalent diameter means the fiber diameter when the cross-sectional area of the glass filament is converted into a perfect circle.
- the glass cloth cannot be sufficiently reduced in weight. Further, when the circle-equivalent diameter of the glass filament is less than 3.0 ⁇ m, the production efficiency is lowered in order to prevent the occurrence of thread breakage and fluff. If the number of the glass filaments is less than 30, it becomes difficult to suppress the occurrence of pinholes in the prepreg containing the glass cloth.
- the weaving density of the warp and the weft must be in the range of 85 to 125/25 mm, respectively. If the weaving density of the warp or the weft exceeds 125 threads / 25 mm, the glass cloth cannot be sufficiently reduced in weight, and it becomes difficult to efficiently manufacture the glass cloth. On the other hand, when the weaving density of the warp or the weft is less than 85 threads / 25 mm, it becomes difficult to suppress the occurrence of pinholes in the prepreg including the glass cloth.
- the glass cloth of the present invention is a flat glass yarn in which at least one of the warp and the weft is composed of a flat glass filament having a flat cross-sectional shape, and the weaving density thereof is less than 100 threads / 25 mm. It is necessary.

It is necessary that the major axis DL is in the range of 3.9 ⁇ m, the major axis DL is higher than the minor axis DS, and the twist number T of the flat glass yarn is 0.70 times / 25 mm or less. If the major axis DL exceeds 6.0 ⁇ m, the weight of the glass cloth cannot be sufficiently reduced, and if the major axis DL is less than 3.3 ⁇ m, it becomes difficult to suppress the occurrence of pinholes.
- the glass cloth cannot be sufficiently thinned, and it is technically difficult to make the minor axis DS less than 2.0 ⁇ m. If the number of twists T exceeds 0.70 times / 25 mm, the glass cloth cannot be uniformly thinned.
- the long-diameter DL contributes to the reduction of the weaving density of the glass cloth
- the short-diameter DS contributes to the reduction of the thickness of the glass cloth, whereby the glass cloth is manufactured using the glass yarn composed of the flat glass filament.
- a thinner glass cloth is manufactured with higher manufacturing efficiency as compared with the case of manufacturing a glass cloth using a glass yarn composed of a circular cross-section glass filament having the same circle-equivalent diameter as the flat glass filament. It is possible to do.
