[0018] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスには、 上記成分以外にも下記の成分を含有させ ることができる。
[0019] カルコゲン元素である 36はガラス化範囲を広げ、 ガラスの熱安定性を高 める成分である。 その含有量は〇〜 40%であることが好ましく、 0. 1〜 20%であることがより好ましく、 〇. 2〜 1 0%であることが特に好まし い。 ただし、 36は毒性を有するため、 環境や人体への影響を低減する観点 からは、 5 %以下であることが好ましく、 3 %以下であることがより好まし く、 1 %以下であることがさらに好ましく、 実質的に含有しないことが特に 好ましい。
[0020] カルコゲン元素である 3はガラス化範囲を広げ、 ガラスの熱安定性を高め る成分である。 ただし、 3の含有量が多すぎると赤外線が透過しにくくなる 。 そのため、 3の含有量は〇〜 40%、 〇〜 20%、 〇〜 1 0%、 〇〜 4% であることが好ましく、 実質的に含有しないことが特に好ましい。
[0022] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは、 長径 500 以上のブツが存在しないこ とが好ましい。 赤外線透過ガラス中にブツが存在するとしても、 その長さは 500 〇!未満であり、 200 〇!以下、 1 00 以下、 50 以下、

特に 1 0 以下であることが好ましい。 このようにすれば、 赤外線透過特 性の低下を抑制することができる。 なお、 溶融中にガラスが酸化されること により発生する◦ 3 2〇3がブツになりやすいため、 後述する方法により当該 ブツの発生を抑制することが好ましい。 なお、 本発明において、 ブツとはガ ラス中に存在する異物のことであり、 未溶解原料や結晶析出物からなる粒子 や粒子の凝集体を示す。
[0023] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは、
での赤外吸収端波長が 1 5 〇1 以上であることが好ましく、 2〇 以上であることがより好ましく、 2 1 以上であることが特に好ましい。 なお、 本発明において、 「赤外吸収端 波長」 とは、 波長 8 以上の赤外域において光透過率が 1 0 %となる波長 をいう。
[0024] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは波長約 8〜 1 4 における平均赤外線透過 率に優れる。 具体的には、 波長 8〜 1 4 における平均内部透過率が 8 0 %以上であることが好ましく、 9 0 %以上であることが特に好ましい。 内部 透過率が低すぎると、 赤外線に対する感度に劣り、 赤外線センサーが十分に 機能しないおそれがある。
[0025] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは、 例えば以下のようにして作製することがで きる。 上記のガラス組成となるように、 原料を混合し、 原料バッチを得る。 次に、 石英ガラスアンプルを加熱しながら真空排気した後、 原料バッチを入 れ、 酸素バーナーで石英ガラスアンプルを封管する。 なお、 アンプル中は酸 素が存在しなければよく、 不活性ガス等を封入してもよい。 次に、 封管され た石英ガラスアンプルを溶融炉内で 1 0〜 4 0 °〇/時間の速度で 6 5 0〜 1 0 0 0 °◦まで昇温後、 6〜 1 2時間保持する。 保持時間中、 必要に応じて、 石英ガラスアンプルの上下を反転し、 溶融物を攪拌する。
[0026] 続いて、 石英ガラスアンプルを溶融炉から取り出し、 室温まで急冷するこ とにより本発明の赤外線透過ガラスを得る。
[0027] このようにして得られた赤外線透過ガラスを所定形状 (円盤状、 レンズ状 等) に加工することにより、 光学素子を作製することができる。

[0028] 透過率の向上を目的として、 光学素子の片面又は両面に、 反射防止膜を形 成しても構わない。 反射防止膜の形成方法としては、 真空蒸着法、 イオンプ レーティング法、 スパッタリング法等が挙げられる。
[0029] なお、 赤外線透過ガラスに反射防止膜を形成した後、 所定形状に加工して も構わない。 ただし、 加工工程において反射防止膜の剥離が生じやすくなる ため、 特段の事情がない限り、 赤外線透過ガラスを所定形状に加工した後に 、 反射防止膜を形成することが好ましい。
[0030] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは、 赤外線透過率に優れるため、 赤外線センサ —のセンサー部を保護するためのカバー部材や、 赤外線センサー部に赤外光 を集光させるためのレンズ等の光学素子として好適である。

[0035] 実施例 1〜 1 7、 比較例 1 8の試料は次のようにして作製した。 石英ガラ スアンプルを加熱しながら真空排気した後、 表に示すガラス組成となるよう に調合した原料バッチを入れた。 次に、 石英ガラスアンプルを酸素パーナー で封管した。 次いで、 封管された石英ガラスアンプルを溶融炉内で 1 〇〜 4 0 °〇/時間の速度で 6 5 0〜 1 0 0 0 °〇まで昇温後、 6〜 1 2時間保持した 。 保持時間中、 石英ガラスアンプルの上下を反転し、 溶融物を攪拌した。 続 いて、 石英ガラスアンプルを溶融炉から取り出し、 室温まで急冷することに より試料を得た。
[0036] 得られた試料について X線回折を行い、 その回折スペクトルからガラス化 しているかどうかを確認した。 表中には、 ガラス化しているものは 「〇」 、 ガラス化していないものは 「X」 として表記した。

の研磨された各試料について、 表面反射損失を含む透過率を測定し、 得られた測定値から波長 8〜 1 4 ^ ^ における内部透過率を算出し、 その平均値が 8 0 %以上のものを 「〇」 8 0 %以下のものを 「X」 として表記した。

[0039] 一方、 比較例 1 8の試料はガラス化しておらず、 波長 8〜 1 4 におけ る内部透過率を測定することができなかった。
産業上の利用可能性
[0040] 本発明の赤外線透過ガラスは、 赤外線センサーのセンサー部を保護するた めのカバー部材や、 センサー部に赤外光を集光させるためのレンズ等の光学 素子として好適である。
