This is because the excited state in the light emission in the infrared region has a small energy difference from the ground state, so that the influence of non-radiative deactivation due to expansion and contraction of molecular bonds and vibration becomes large.

- the nonradiative deactivation is suppressed by suppressing the rotation and movement between the Ar group of the general formula (1a) and the ring A by generating a dihedral angle in the stable structure of the molecule. ing. Further, to expand the ⁇ -conjugated system by forming a ⁇ - ⁇ conjugation between a group that causes a dihedral angle and a ⁇ -conjugated group that forms a dihedral angle (Ar group in the general formula (1a)). Have been successful. By introducing this substituent into, for example, a squarylium compound, it is possible to provide an infrared light emitting compound that can achieve both improved emission quantum yield and long-wavelength emission.

ΔPL(λmax)を以下で定義し、
