Definitions

  • the present specification relates to a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate and an adhesive composition for a polarizing plate.
  • a polarizing plate used in an image display device such as a liquid crystal display device generally uses a triacetyl cellulose film (hereinafter referred to as a TAC film) as a protective film for protecting a polyvinyl alcohol polarizer.
  • a TAC film does not have sufficient moisture and heat resistance, and when used under high temperature or high humidity, has a problem that polarizing plate characteristics such as polarization degree or color are deteriorated by film deformation. Therefore, recently, a method of using a transparent acrylic resin film having excellent heat and moisture resistance instead of a TAC film as a material for a polarizer protective film has been proposed.
  • an aqueous adhesive composed mainly of an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin is used.
  • the adhesive strength is weak, so the use of the film according to the film material
  • the amount of energy rays reaching the adhesive composition provided on the opposite side of the irradiated direction is reduced because the irradiated energy rays are absorbed by the polarizer. Accordingly, the curing speed of the adhesive layer is different. Due to this, curling may occur in the polarizing plate.
  • the present specification relates to a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate and an adhesive composition for a polarizing plate.
  • the present specification is a step of preparing a polarizer; Providing an adhesive composition on one surface of each of the first protective film and the second protective film; Laminating the first protective film on one surface of the polarizer, and laminating the second protective film on the other surface of the polarizer; And curing the adhesive composition by irradiating an active energy ray to the first protective film side, thereby bonding the first protective film, the polarizer, and the second protective film, and provided on one surface of the second protective film.
  • the adhesive composition provides a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate comprising a photoinitiator and a photosensitizer represented by Formula 1 below.
  • Ra and Rb are the same as or different from each other, and hydrogen; heavy hydrogen; Or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group,
  • Rc is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group
  • n are each an integer from 0 to 4,
  • o is an integer from 2 to 4,
  • Ra is the same or different from each other
  • Rb is the same or different from each other
  • Rc is the same as or different from each other
  • the present specification provides a polarizing plate adhesive composition comprising a photoinitiator and a photosensitizer represented by the formula (1).
  • the method of manufacturing a polarizing plate by controlling the irradiation direction of the active energy ray used for curing the adhesive layer, and using a composition of the adhesive layer suitable for this, it has the advantage of improved light efficiency. Specifically, the curing speed of the adhesive layer provided on the opposite side of the protective film to which the active energy ray is irradiated can be improved.
  • the curing efficiency may be improved even in a long-wavelength curing system, and the curing reliability is high, so that the problem of curling on the polarizing plate during curing can be minimized.
  • FIG. 1 shows a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate according to an exemplary embodiment of the present specification.
  • layer means that the area where the layer is present is 70% or more. It is preferably 75% or more, and more preferably 80% or more.
  • the "thickness" of a layer means the shortest distance from the lower surface to the upper surface of the layer.
  • the spatially relative terms “one side” and “the other side” may be used to easily describe a correlation between one component and other components as illustrated in the drawings.
  • the spatially relative terms should be understood as terms including different directions of components in use or operation in addition to the directions shown in the drawings. For example, when a component shown in the drawing is turned over, a component described as “one side” of another component may be placed on the “other side” of another component. Accordingly, the exemplary term “one side” may include both the directions below and above. Components can also be oriented in different directions, and thus spatially relative terms can be interpreted according to orientation.
  • photosensitive agent may mean a component that improves the curability of the adhesive for polarizing plates.
  • the photosensitizer is a type of catalyst, and when absorbing UV having an appropriate wavelength, it decomposes to generate radicals, and the generated radicals react with the photoinitiator to reach polymerization.
  • absorption means that any material absorbs light
  • initiation can mean that the material absorbs light to generate radicals or cations to initiate polymerization with the monomer.
  • the short wavelength initiators herein can absorb suitable wavelengths to initiate monomer polymerization.
  • the photosensitizer When exposed to UV light, the photosensitizer is excited as a singlet or triplet, and a cationic initiator by electron transfer of the activated photosensitizer is activated to initiate a curing reaction.
  • the polarizing plate when irradiating light in the short wavelength UVB region, since there is a possibility that the polarizing plate may be damaged, it is necessary to irradiate light in the long wavelength UVA region.
  • the light transmittance of the short wavelength region is low, it is necessary to irradiate light to the optical film side having excellent light transmittance without the liquid crystal material coated.
  • the curing of the adhesive layer on the side of the protective film provided on the opposite side of the side irradiated with light since the curing of the adhesive layer on the side of the protective film provided on the opposite side of the side irradiated with light has a slight problem, it is included in the adhesive layer on the side of the protective film provided on the opposite side of the side irradiated with light.
  • the photosensitizer should have high reactivity in the long wavelength range.
  • the term "curing of the composition” refers to a process in which the composition is changed to exhibit adhesive or adhesive properties by physical action or chemical reaction of the components of the composition.
  • active energy ray in this specification, microwaves (microwaves), infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), X-ray and ⁇ -ray, as well as ⁇ particle beam ( ⁇ particle beam), proton beam (proton beam) , It may mean a particle beam, such as a neutron beam (neutron beam) and electron beam (electron beam), and may be typically ultraviolet or electron beam.
  • the "active energy ray curing type" may mean that such curing may be induced by irradiation of active energy rays.
  • curing of the active energy ray-curable composition may be performed through free radical polymerization or cationic reaction by irradiation of active energy rays, and preferably free radical polymerization and cationic reaction are simultaneously or sequentially performed. You can go ahead and do it together.
  • the polarizing plate is prepared in advance by laminating the adhesive layer through the adhesive layer
  • the polarizing plate laminate includes a substrate having poor transmittance to ultraviolet rays, such as a liquid crystal material, there is a problem in that ultraviolet rays do not easily pass through the substrate and thus do not reach the adhesive layer provided on the opposite side.
  • the adhesive layer provided on the opposite side is not sufficiently cured, curl may occur in each component of the laminate during the manufacturing process of the polarizing plate.
  • the active energy ray can pass through the member provided between the light source and the adhesive layer, so that the adhesive

Description

<비교예 1>
