It is a figure for demonstrating the box-type structure of the Example to which the shielding adhesive was applied.
- the shielding adhesive according to the present invention is a shielding adhesive having neutron shielding performance.
- the ends of the shielding plate are joined by the shielding adhesive.
- a shielding adhesive to the surface (end surface) of the end of the shielding plate and abutting the end, the joint structure of the end can be strengthened.
- a part of the end face of the shielding plate is temporarily fixed with an adhesive tape, a part of the end face may be permanently fixed with an adhesive.
- the temporarily fixed face is a removable opening face. Can.
- the shielding adhesive according to the present invention preferably contains 30% by weight or more of lithium fluoride powder.
- Such an adhesive functions as a sealing material that fills the gap between the shielding plates in addition to bonding the shielding plates together. Since the adhesive is mixed with lithium fluoride containing 6Li having a neutron shielding function, it has an effect of suppressing the entrance of the neutron beam through the gap between the shielding plates.
- lithium fluoride powder in the shielding adhesive is such that when the viscosity of the adhesive is low, the viscosity is such that adequate coating workability and gap filling can be obtained, and the neutron shielding performance is further enhanced.
- lithium fluoride powder may preferably be contained in an amount of 40 wt% or more, more preferably 50 wt% or more, and even more preferably 60 wt% or more.
- the shielding adhesive according to the present invention can contain lithium fluoride in an adhesive such as an epoxy resin or a silicone resin which contains no inorganic filler or contains a very small amount.
- the existing adhesive to be used is not particularly limited. Adhesives such as epoxy resin and silicone resin can be used. Since the epoxy resin has a low content of elements other than carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, the rate of activation is low even if it is irradiated with a neutron beam. Therefore, it is suitable for use in medical treatment such as radiation therapy. In addition, since the two-component curing epoxy resin mixes and cures the main agent and the curing agent, when adding a powder, the main agent and the curing agent are separately added and kneaded, and then both are mixed and reacted and cured.
- the kneading time can be increased, the workability is improved.
- the box-shaped structure to which the shielding adhesive according to the present invention is applied has a plurality of shielding plates containing lithium fluoride having neutron shielding performance, and the end portions of the shielding plates are butted and joined. is there.
- neutral shielding performance refers to the performance of shielding neutrons.
- neutral shielding may be described as “neutron shielding”.
- the shielding plate to which the shielding adhesive according to the present invention is applied means a neutron shielding plate.
- the box-like structure is a box-like assembly of a plurality of shielding plates having neutron shielding performance, and has a simple three-dimensional structure.
- FIG. 1 The appearance of the box-like structure is shown in FIG.
- a box-shaped structure 10 is formed by combining six shielding plates including the shielding plates 1 and 2 and the like. The respective end faces of the shielding plates are butted to each other, and the end faces are joined by the shielding adhesive according to the present invention.
- the box-shaped structure shown in FIG. 1 is an example embodiment in which the entire outer surface is surrounded by a shielding plate.
- the box-shaped structure 10 shown to (a), (b) of FIG. 2 is another example of embodiment which provided the opening 20 in a part of outer surface.
- a box-shaped structure is formed by combining six shielding plates consisting of shielding plates 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on into a box shape. The end portions of the shielding plates are butted, and the end surfaces of the shielding plates are joined by the shielding adhesive. As shown in (a) and (b) of FIG. 2, since the shield 2 has a short side in part, an opening 20 is formed in that part.
- the shielding plate of the box-shaped structure is formed of a material containing lithium fluoride (LiF) which is excellent in neutron shielding performance. Since the neutron beam irradiated from the outside is suppressed by the shielding plate of the box-shaped structure, the neutron beam reaching the inside of the box-shaped structure is reduced, and the neutron beam inside the box-shaped structure is reduced. It is possible to obtain an area (non-irradiated area) substantially not irradiated.
- LiF lithium fluoride
- the box-shaped structure has a three-dimensional form such as a cube or a rectangular parallelepiped, a three-dimensional neutron beam shielding space is formed, and even if it is a small animal having a certain volume or more, it is easily in the shielding space. It can be housed.
- the shielding space for neutrons can be formed inside the box-shaped structure.
- the box-shaped structure having the neutron shielding performance is joined by combining a plurality of shielding plates having the neutron shielding performance, a simple three-dimensional structure can be obtained.
- the size of the box-shaped structure can be freely adjusted according to the size and the number of shielding plates to be combined.
- This box-like structure is suitable for the field where neutron beams are irradiated to examine its action and influence. It can be used for tests using small animals such as mice, irradiation tests for radiation treatment, and the like.
- a partition or the like inside the box-shaped structure or by arranging a plurality of box-shaped structures simultaneously it is possible to simultaneously irradiate a plurality of irradiation bodies, so that the efficiency of the irradiation test can be improved. .

- Li lithium fluoride powder and lithium fluoride sintered body
- Li contains two stable isotopes of 6 Li and 7 Li, and the natural abundance ratio is 92.5 atom% of 7 Li, 6 Li is 7.5 atom%.
- 6 Li since it is 6 Li that contributes to neutron shielding, it is possible to shield neutrons with higher efficiency by using 6 LiF containing 6 Li.
- the shielding plate made of the lithium fluoride-containing material is preferably made of a lithium fluoride sintered body which is molded and sintered using a lithium fluoride powder.
- the material of the shielding plate according to the present embodiment can adjust the content of 6 Li according to the required neutron shielding performance. For example, when high neutron shielding performance is required, 95 atomic% of 6 Li, LiF purity It is possible to select a lithium fluoride powder material of 99% or more, or to use lithium fluoride in which the content ratio of 6 Li and 7 Li is appropriately adjusted.
- a lithium fluoride sintered body containing 6 LiF can be obtained without mixing other inorganic compounds as a sintering aid or a composite material component. Therefore, since the shielding plate which consists of lithium fluoride which concerns on this embodiment has high purity of lithium fluoride itself, it can be equipped with the outstanding neutron shielding performance.
- lithium fluoride powder used for shielding adhesive As lithium fluoride powder material used for a shielding adhesive, the thing equivalent to lithium fluoride powder used for sintering of a shielding board can be used. By using the lithium fluoride powder, shielding performance can be efficiently obtained with a smaller amount of addition. For example, it is preferable to use a lithium fluoride powder having 95 atom% of 6 Li and 99% or more of LiF purity.
- the purity of LiF is preferably 99 wt% or more. If a large amount of impurities such as metal components (elements) are mixed in the material of the shield, the impurities may be activated by the irradiation of neutron beams to emit gamma rays. LiF itself does not undergo activation even when irradiated with neutrons.
- lithium fluoride-containing material when the purity of lithium fluoride itself is low, or when other inorganic compounds are mixed as a sintering aid or a composite agent component, those impurities and mixed components It is desirable to use lithium fluoride of high purity because it can be activated to emit gamma rays.
- the single crystal growth method requires high control accuracy in manufacturing, the quality stability is inferior and the product price becomes extremely expensive.
- the single crystal obtained has a high cost for processing into a predetermined shape, has cleavage properties, and easily causes cracks during processing.
- the method of solidifying from the melt requires strict temperature control at the time of cooling and requires a long time for cooling, it is necessary to obtain a homogeneous and sound solidified material over a relatively large size. difficult.
- a sintered body of lithium fluoride (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “LiF sintered body”) have a relative density of 86% or more and 92% or less.
- the relative density is a value obtained by dividing the density of the sintered body by the theoretical density of LiF (2.64 g / cm 3 ) and multiplying by 100.
- the lithium fluoride sintered body in this relative density range is advantageous in that it is suppressed in the occurrence of swelling and voids / cracks at the time of sintering, and is excellent in machinability. Since the LiF sintered body is not densified, it has an advantage of being excellent in machinability.
- the LiF sintered body may not have sufficient neutron shielding performance.
- the proportion of voids inside the sintered body is high, and it is feared that the mechanical strength is inferior.
- the thickness of the LiF sintered body is not particularly limited as long as the thickness can suitably shield the neutron beam.
- the thickness of the LiF sintered body is preferably 2 mm or more, more preferably 3 mm or more, from the mechanical strength of the sintered body and the workability at the time of end processing.
- the upper limit of the thickness of the LiF sintered body is not particularly limited. From the viewpoint of reducing the size and weight of the shielding plate, it is preferable that the LiF sintered body be thinner as long as the neutron beam can be suitably shielded. Specifically, the thickness of the LiF sintered body is preferably 8 mm or less, more preferably 5 mm or less.
- a pre-firing step for degreasing the organic forming aid may be added prior to the firing step.
- a base plate made of a sintered body of lithium fluoride (LiF) and having a length of 80 mm, a width of 40 mm, and a thickness of 5 mm was produced.
- the relative density of this sintered body was in the range of 88.9-91.3%.
- end processing for forming a step having a length of about 2.5 mm was performed to produce a shielding plate 1A and a shielding plate 2A having an end structure of a predetermined shape.
- the shielding plates 1A and 2A are provided with steps on three sides in the periphery.
- a base plate 80 mm long, 40 m wide and 5 mm thick was produced, and the end portions provided with a step of about 2.5 mm long were processed on the four sides around it to produce shield plates 3A and 3B.
- a base plate having a length of 80 mm, a width of 45 mm and a thickness of 5 mm is prepared, and an end portion processing is performed to provide a step with a length of about 2.5 mm on four sides thereof.
- a base plate having a length of 80 mm, a width of 25 mm, and a thickness of 5 mm was produced, and an end portion was machined to provide a step with a length of about 2.5 mm on three sides thereof to produce a shielding plate 4B.
- the shielding plate 1A and the shielding plate 2A are butted so as to join two each at a side end portion where no step in the longitudinal direction is provided, and the shielding plate 1B and the shielding plate 2B 80 mm long and 80 mm wide was produced. When they were butt-joined, they were fixed using a shielding adhesive.
- a box-shaped structure as shown in FIG. 19 was assembled.
- Lithium fluoride powder Lithium fluoride powder (LiF powder) containing 95 atomic% of 6 Li having a neutron shielding function was mixed with a commercially available adhesive to prepare a shielding adhesive sample, and the performance of the shielding adhesive was investigated.
- the types of adhesives (S1 to S5) used and the mixing ratio (mass ratio) of LiF powder to the adhesive are as shown in Tables 1 to 3.
- Table 1 uses LiF powder having an average particle size of 3.8 ⁇ m
- Table 2 uses LiF powder having an average particle size of 2.4 ⁇ m
- Table 3 uses LiF powder having an average particle size of 5.2 ⁇ m It was used.
- test plates made of a LiF sintered body of 40 mm in length, 20 mm in width, and 5 mm in thickness were prepared. There is no level difference at the end of the test plate and it is flat. About 30 mg of a test adhesive is applied to the end face of the test plate with a length of 40 mm, butted and joined, and after removing excess adhesive overflowing from the gap, it is temporarily fixed and each instruction manual It was left to cure until reaching the stated practical strength.
- the adhesive properties are evaluated from the viewpoints of kneadability, construction workability, physical properties after curing (stiffness, heat resistance) and shielding properties, and depending on the degree, good.
- the evaluation criteria were as follows: (A), normal (B), and unsuitable (C).
- the results are as indicated by the symbols “A”, “B” and “C” in Tables 1 to 3.
- “-” In Tables 1 to 3 indicates the performance not evaluated.
- the physical properties of the samples of evaluation C with respect to the kneadability and construction workability were not evaluated after curing.
- the kneadability is the performance evaluated as to the extent to which a paste-like mixture in which both are uniformly mixed when mixing the adhesive and the LiF powder at a predetermined mixing ratio is obtained.
- the particle size distribution of LiF powder uses Microtrac MT3300 manufactured by Nikkiso Co., Ltd., particle refractive index: 1.39, solvent (water) refractive index: 1.33, particle permeability: transmission, particle shape: non-spherical, external Dispersion: None, Internal dispersion: Measured under each condition of 3 to 3 minutes. The 50% cumulative diameter ⁇ m obtained by the measurement was taken as the average particle size.
- ⁇ Kneading method> In the case of a one-component curable adhesive, a predetermined amount (200 mg) of the adhesive was weighed on a resin sheet using a micro spatula. Separately, a predetermined amount (200 mg) of lithium fluoride powder weighed using a medicine package was transferred to the vicinity of the spot to which the adhesive was dropped, and then kneaded using a small resin spatula until uniform. And the kneaded material was apply
- a main adhesive and a curing agent were dropped separately on a resin sheet using a micro spatula with a predetermined amount (100 mg) at intervals of several centimeters. .
- a predetermined amount (100 mg) of lithium fluoride powder weighed using medicine packing paper to the spot of adhesive main agent and in the vicinity of the spot of adhesive curing agent, the adhesive main agent and lithium fluoride powder
- the mixture and the mixture of adhesive curing agent and lithium fluoride powder are separately kneaded using the same spatula as above until uniform. Then, the mixture of both was put together and it knead
- the curing of the adhesive proceeds too fast, making uniform mixing difficult, and conversely, the viscosity of the adhesive is low, and the curing takes time.
- it is necessary to fix the bonding material with a jig etc. for a long time so it was evaluated by the balance between the appropriate pot life and the curing time.
- whether or not the mixture easily spreads to the gap of the bonding site, and the filling property and shape retention property of a degree that does not flow out are considered.
- the physical properties after curing were evaluated for rigidity and heat resistance.
- rigidity a test piece of 40 mm in length, 5 mm in width and 5 mm in thickness obtained by cutting in a rectangular shape about 5 mm wide in a direction perpendicular to the bonding line of the joined sintered body is manually bent Thus, the force was applied, and the presence or absence of the occurrence of interfacial peeling or cohesive failure in the joint, and the presence or absence of the failure in the sintered body portion were confirmed.
- An evaluation A was made to break at the sintered body portion. Although there was no problem in normal use, the one broken at the joint was regarded as evaluation B.
- the above-mentioned test piece is heated at 100 ° C. for 1 hour with an electric dryer, there is no deformation of the joint due to heating, and after cooling it is evaluated that the strength before heating is substantially maintained. It was A.
- the content of LiF in the shielding adhesive used is described as a relative value in Table 1 because the shielding level required varies depending on the application.
- Tables 1 to 3 show the results evaluated in the above viewpoint.
- Table 1 uses LiF powder having an average particle size of 3.8 ⁇ m.
- Table 1 when comprehensively evaluating the kneadability, the workability in construction, and the physical properties after curing, sample no. 1 to No. 3 and No. 5 to No. It was found that the two-part curable epoxy adhesive used in 7 is preferred.
- the application area for applying the shielding adhesive is small, it is preferable to use a quick curing type of two-component curing epoxy, and when there is a large number of applications and a total application area, it is preferable to use two-component curing epoxy.
- Sample No. 9 to No. 13 is an example using a two-part epoxy / modified silicone adhesive.
