  • the casket inertial assembly (15) and the bell crank assembly (16) are assembled with the cap assembly and then the cap assembly is inserted into the opening in the vehicle door.

  • the handle assembly has a bell crank spring (24) to keep the handle in a closed condition, such that the handle (11) will be moved in the direction resisting the spring load. Whenever the handle is released the spring load with the handle makes the handle to revert back to the original closed condition of the door handle.

  • the spring loaded ball (20) is movably assembled within the casket (15) and the casket assembly is snapped with the cap (14) of the handle assembly.
  • the bell crank assembly (16) helps in functioning of the door handle, such that while opening the door handle, the bell crank (17) with counter weights (32) moves to unlatching direction of the door.
  • the handle cap (14) in operated, the casket in the casket inertia assembly also moves and do not resist the movement of the bell crank activator.
  • the bell crank activator (18) activates the spring loaded bell crank to rotate around its axis and this in turn helps to revolve the abutment (22) along its axis.
  • This combined action of the handle cap (14), casket (19), bell crank (17, bell crank activator (18) and the abutment (22) helps to convert the movement of the door handle to linear movement of the cable / latch part which activates the latch assembled in the vehicle door to an unlatching direction.
  • the leaf spring (21) is constructed to act as a counter weight and generate a proximate force resisting movement of the bell crank (17) in an unlatching direction and thus the bell crank activator (18) is controlled by the leaf spring (21) of the inertia casket assembly, when actuated.
  • This arrangement allows the door handle to resist opening movement of the handle unintentionally.
  • the handle assembly according to the invention is intended to create an improved safety measure on to the door and to conduct the handle operation smoothly with respect to the accepted criteria.

  • the door handle assembly of the invention is intended for controlling the latch travel of the vehicle door having cap assembly (13), a bell crank assembly (16) mounted on the cap (14) for movement in an unlatching direction and in an opposite latching direction of the casket inertia assembly (15) which is snapped onto the handle cap (14).
  • the casket inertia mechanism is operative to generate a positive locking movement of the handle mechanism in a latching direction. This arrangement allows the leaf spring (21) to resist opening movement of the handle in unintentional opening of the door and allows the movement of the bell crank during intentional opening of the door.

  • the casket (19) is loaded with the ball (20) and the leaf spring (21) and placed within the cap assembly.
  • the movement of the cap enables to move the casket and the ball and thus resulting in actuation of the leaf spring.
  • the leaf spring is configured such that the whenever the ball is moved, the leaf sprig is actuated and thus resisting the actuation of the bell crank actuator.
  • the casket assembly enables for blocking or resisting the actuation of the bell crank actuator as per the load condition or permanently.
  • the casket ball will move as per the load applied and that tends to actuate the leaf spring and thus restricting the movement of the handle. But once the load is released, the casket ball and the leaf spring will come to its initial position and that leads to slip out the handle.

Abstract
