Description
"A CONVEYI NG MECHANI SM FOR TRANSFERRI NG UNFI Nl SHED AND Fl Nl SHED RUBBER COT ARBOURS I N AN AUTOMATI C RUBBER COT GRI NDI NG OR BUFFI NG
MACHI NE"
Fl ELD OF I NVENTI ON:
The invention relates to a field of textile machinery. More particularly it relates to the automatic rubber cot grinding and/or buffing machine. Specifically it relates to conveying mechanism for transferring finished and unfinished rubber cots to and from storage magazine respectively in the rubber cot grinding and/or buffing machine.
PRI OR ART: In textile machinery rubber cot arbours are widely used. The rubber cot arbours are very dedicated articles. For the purpose of finishing, the unfinished arbours are loaded manually in the stationary storage magazine of the rubber cot grinding or buffing machine. From stationary storage magazine the unfinished rubber cot arbours are conveyed to measuring unit for further processing. In a same way, once the rubber cot abrours are finished, they are conveyed from measuring unit to the stationary storage magazine of the rubber cot grinding or buffing machine. Indian patent application No. 1684/ MUM/ 2006 which belongs to inventor of present application discloses a Conveyer system for conveying unfinished and finished rubber cot arbours. This conveyor system being used in an automatic rubber cot arbour grinding or buffing machine comprising a unfinished rubber cot arbour storage unit, a finished rubber cot arbour storage unit, a measuring unit, a loading unloading carriage. The conveyor system comprising: a pair of conveyer units one for
conveying unfinished rubber cot arbour from the unfinished rubber cot arbour storage unit to the measuring unit or the loading unloading carriage of the automatic rubber cot grinding or buffing machine and another conveyer unit for conveying finished rubber cot arbour from the loading unloading carriage to the finished rubber cot arbour storage unit, each of the said conveyer unit comprises a plurality of jaws having inclined slot mounted on a chain moving on a pair of chain wheels driven by a prime mover with a driving mechanism, the said Jaws with chain and chain wheels mounted on a pair of light columns, one of the said light column being fixed and other adjustable according to the size and gauge of the rubber cot arbours, the said pair of light columns being mounted on a pair of strong columns and the said pair of strong columns adopted to be fixed on a frame of the automatic rubber cot arbour grinding or buffing machine.
The conveyor system disclosed in above mentioned patent application suffers from below the following deficiencies: i. The conveyor system is not smooth and reliable.
ii. The conveyor system is complicated in design and requires more maintenance cost.
iii. Operations involved in conveying the rubber cot arbours are not fully controlled and automated.
iv. There is always possibility of damage to the rubber cot arbours during conveying operations.
v. The efficiency of buffing machine is higher that of conveying the rubber cot arbours to it due to involvement of mechanical parts of the conveyor. This leads to overall poor efficiency of the machine.
Hence it is necessary to develop a conveying mechanism to transport rubber cot arbours within the automatic rubber cot arbour grinding or buffing machine which will be free from foregoing problems.

Referring to figures 7, 8 and 9, the linear arm assembly (40') includes a linear vertical arm (41') having a linear rail (44'). The linear vertical arm (41') is provided with a slidable component (46'). The linear arm assembly (40') also includes a linear horizontal arm (42') having a
guiding track (45'). The slidable component (46') slides on the guiding track (45'). The linear vertical arm (41') travels horizontally through the guiding track (45') and slidable component (46'). The horizontal movement of the linear vertical arm (41') depends on the position of tray (11') of storage magazine. Generally, the storage magazine (10') consists of one or more trays (11') for holding the rubber cot arbours. If first tray is empty, then horizontal movement of the linear vertical arm (41') enables picking up of unfinished rubber cot arbours from next tray. Referring to figure 10, exploded views of the guide arm assembly (50') is illustrated. The guide arm assembly (50') includes a pair of arms (57', 58') for holding the rubber cot arbours (30'). Each of the arms (57', 58') is "V" shaped having holding platform (61). One of the arm (57', 58') includes a notch (60'). The arms (57', 58') are movably fixed on a linear rail (53'). The linear rail (53') consists of a pair of sliders (59') moving on the linear rail (53'). The arms (57', 58') are fixed on a linear rail (53')with use of the sliders (59') and the arm mounting brackets (54'). The movement of linear vertical arm (41') is controlled by the control unit based on the position of tray of storage magazine. The movement of the guide arm assembly (50') is also controlled by the control unit.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a rubber cot arbour grinding and/or buffing machine comprising a conveying system of figure 3 at loading point for transferring unfinished rubber cot arbours from a storage magazine to a measuring unit of the rubber cot arbour grinding and/or buffing machine and a conveying system of figure 9 at unloading point for transferring finished rubber cot arbours from the rubber cot arbour grinding and/or buffing machine to a storage magazine.
While various embodiments of the present invention have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not limitation. It will be understood by those skilled in the relevant art that various changes in form and details may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM: i. The present conveyor system is smooth and reliable.
ii. The present conveyor system is user friendly in design and requires minimal or nil maintenance cost.
Operations involved in conveying the rubber cot arbours are fully controlled and automated.
There is least possibility of damage to the rubber cot arbours during conveying operations.
The efficiency of the present conveyor system is significantly high thereby increasing the overall efficiency of the buffing machine.
