Abstract
機能性高分子化合物の合成原料等として有用な新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を提供する。上記の新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を用いた高分子化合物の製造方法を提供する。m-フェニレンジアミン化合物は、下記一般式(I)、(II)又は(III)で表される。R1は水素原子、アルキル基、シクロアルキル基又はアリール基を示す。R2、R3及びR4はアルキル基を示す。R5及びR6はアルキル基を示す。Xは塩素原子または臭素原子を示す。高分子化合物の製造方法は、上記一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を原料として高分子化合物を得ることを含む。
Description
本発明は、新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物に関する。また本発明は、新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を用いた高分子化合物の製造方法に関する。
高分子化合物からなる素材は特有の気体透過性を有し、所望の気体成分を選択的に透過させて分離することができる(例えば特許文献1)。この高分子素材の特性を利用し、火力発電所、セメントプラント、製鉄所高炉等において、大規模な二酸化炭素発生源から、高分子膜を用いて二酸化炭素を分離回収することが検討されている。また、天然ガス、バイオガス(生物の排泄物、有機質肥料、生分解性物質、汚水、ゴミ、エネルギー作物などの発酵、嫌気性消化により発生するガス)等は主としてメタンと二酸化炭素を含む混合ガスであり、この混合ガスから二酸化炭素等の不純物を除去する手段として高分子膜の利用が検討されている。
フェニレンジアミン化合物は、ポリイミド、ポリウレタン、ポリウレア、ポリアミド等の各種高分子化合物の合成原料として広く用いられている。例えば特許文献1には、カルバモイル基を有するフェニレンジアミン化合物と、特定構造のテトラカルボン酸二無水物とを縮重合してポリイミド化合物を得たこと、このポリイミド化合物を用いて形成した膜が、二酸化炭素とメタンを含む混合ガスから二酸化炭素を選択的に透過させるガス分離膜として高い性能を示したことが記載されている。また特許文献2には、N,N-ジ置換スルホンアミド基を有するm-フェニレンジアミンのアミノ基をイソシアネート化し、このジイソシアネートを用いてポリウレタンプラスチックを得ることが記載されている。
本発明は、機能性高分子化合物の合成原料等として有用な新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を提供することを課題とする。また本発明は、上記の新規m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を用いた高分子化合物の製造方法を提供することを課題とする。
本発明は下記の技術手段により構成される。

式中、R1は水素原子、アルキル基、シクロアルキル基又はアリール基を示す。R2、R3及びR4はアルキル基を示す。

下記一般式(II)で表わされるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
式中、R1は水素原子、アルキル基、シクロアルキル基又はアリール基を示す。R2、R3及びR4はアルキル基を示す。R5及びR6はアルキル基を示す。

上記一般式(II)中、R5及びR6がトリフルオロメチル基を示す、<2>記載のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
〔4〕
下記一般式(III)で表わされるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
式中、R2、R3及びR4はアルキル基を示す。R5及びR6はアルキル基を示す。Xは塩素原子または臭素原子を示す。

本明細書において、特定の符号で表示された置換基、連結基等(以下、置換基等という)が複数あるとき、あるいは複数の置換基等を同時もしくは択一的に規定するときには、それぞれの置換基等は互いに同一でも異なっていてもよいことを意味する。このことは、置換基等の数の規定についても同様である。また、複数の置換基が近接(特に隣接)するときにはそれらが互いに連結したり縮環したりして環を形成していてもよい意味である。
本明細書において化合物の表示については、化合物そのもののほか、その塩、そのイオンを含む意味に用いる。また、目的の効果を損なわない範囲で、構造の一部を変化させたものを含む意味である。
なお、化合物の塩としては、例えば、化合物と無機酸もしくは有機酸とで形成された、化合物の酸付加塩、又は、化合物と無機塩基もしくは有機塩基とで形成された、化合物の塩基付加塩等が挙げられる。また、化合物のイオンとしては、例えば、上述の化合物の塩が乖離してなる、化合物の骨格を含むイオンが挙げられる。
本明細書において置換又は無置換を明記していない置換基(連結基についても同様)については、所望の効果を損なわない範囲で、その基に任意の置換基を有していてもよい意味である。これは置換又は無置換を明記していない化合物についても同義である。
なお、化合物の塩としては、例えば、化合物と無機酸もしくは有機酸とで形成された、化合物の酸付加塩、又は、化合物と無機塩基もしくは有機塩基とで形成された、化合物の塩基付加塩等が挙げられる。また、化合物のイオンとしては、例えば、上述の化合物の塩が乖離してなる、化合物の骨格を含むイオンが挙げられる。
本明細書において置換又は無置換を明記していない置換基(連結基についても同様)については、所望の効果を損なわない範囲で、その基に任意の置換基を有していてもよい意味である。これは置換又は無置換を明記していない化合物についても同義である。
また本明細書において単に「置換基」という場合、特段の断りが無い限り、後述する置換基群Zから選択される基が挙げられる。また、特定の範囲を有する置換基が記載されているだけの場合(例えば「アルキル基」と記載されているだけの場合)は、下記置換基群Zの対応する基(上記の場合はアルキル基)における好ましい範囲、具体例が適用される。
本明細書において、ある基の炭素数を規定する場合、この炭素数は、基全体の炭素数を意味する。つまり、この基がさらに置換基を有する形態である場合、この置換基を含めた全体の炭素数を意味する。
本明細書において置換基というときには、特に断らない限り、後記置換基群Zをその好ましい範囲とする。
本明細書において、ある基の炭素数を規定する場合、この炭素数は、基全体の炭素数を意味する。つまり、この基がさらに置換基を有する形態である場合、この置換基を含めた全体の炭素数を意味する。
本明細書において置換基というときには、特に断らない限り、後記置換基群Zをその好ましい範囲とする。
本発明のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物は、高分子化合物の合成原料として用いることができ、得られる高分子化合物に所望の特性を付与することができる。例えば、本発明のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を合成原料(モノマー)として得られた高分子化合物は、これを用いて各種樹脂材料を作製することにより、得られる樹脂材料を、柔軟性と剛直性という、互いに相反する特性をほどよく両立した物性とすることができる。例えば、この高分子化合物をガス分離膜のガス分離層に用いた場合には、このガス分離膜を、ガス透過性とガス分離選択性とを高いレベルで両立したものとすることができる。また、このガス分離膜は可塑化しにくく耐久性にも優れたものとなる。
本発明のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物は下記一般式(I)で表される。
一般式(I)中、R1は水素原子、アルキル基、シクロアルキル基又はアリール基を示す。
R1として採り得るアルキル基は無置換であってもよく、置換基を有してもよい。また、直鎖でもよく分岐を有していてもよい。R1として採り得るアルキル基が置換基を有する場合、この置換基としては、例えば後述する置換基群Zから選ばれる基(但しアルキル基を除く)が挙げられる。なかでもこの置換基は、ハロゲン原子、アリール基、アルケニル基、アルキニル基、ヒドロキシ基、アルコキシ基、アシルオキシ基、アリールオキシ基、アシルアミノ基、アミノ基、アルコキシカルボニル基、カルバモイル基、シアノ基、アルキルスルホニル基、アリールスルホニル基、スルファモイル基、カルボキシ基、スルホ基、アシル基及びヘテロ環基から選ばれる基が好ましく、特に、ハロゲン原子、ヒドロキシ基、ジアルキルアミノ基、カルボキシ基及びスルファモイル基から選ばれる基が好ましい。
R1として採り得るアルキル基は無置換であってもよく、置換基を有してもよい。また、直鎖でもよく分岐を有していてもよい。R1として採り得るアルキル基が置換基を有する場合、この置換基としては、例えば後述する置換基群Zから選ばれる基(但しアルキル基を除く)が挙げられる。なかでもこの置換基は、ハロゲン原子、アリール基、アルケニル基、アルキニル基、ヒドロキシ基、アルコキシ基、アシルオキシ基、アリールオキシ基、アシルアミノ基、アミノ基、アルコキシカルボニル基、カルバモイル基、シアノ基、アルキルスルホニル基、アリールスルホニル基、スルファモイル基、カルボキシ基、スルホ基、アシル基及びヘテロ環基から選ばれる基が好ましく、特に、ハロゲン原子、ヒドロキシ基、ジアルキルアミノ基、カルボキシ基及びスルファモイル基から選ばれる基が好ましい。
R1がアルキル基の場合、R1の炭素数は1~12が好ましく、1~9がより好ましく、1~6がさらに好ましく、1~3が特に好ましい。R1として採り得るアルキル基の具体例として、例えば、無置換のメチル、無置換のエチル、無置換のイソプロピル、無置換のヘキシル、無置換のドデシル、アリル、プロパルギル、ベンジル、カルボキシメチル、カルボキシエチル、カルボキシペンチル、メトキシエチル、ヒドロキシエチル、ヒドロキシプロピル、メルカプトエチル、アセトアミドエチル、ジメチルアミノエチル、ジメチルアミノプロピル、トリフルオロエチル、ヘプタフルオロブチル及びウンデカフルオロヘキシルが挙げられる。
R1として採り得るアルキル基は、無置換のアルキル基、カルボキシ基を置換基として有するアルキル基(好ましくは、カルボキシ基を置換基として1つ有するアルキル基)、又はフッ素原子を置換基として有するアルキル基が好ましい。
R1として採り得るアルキル基は、無置換のアルキル基、カルボキシ基を置換基として有するアルキル基(好ましくは、カルボキシ基を置換基として1つ有するアルキル基)、又はフッ素原子を置換基として有するアルキル基が好ましい。
R1として採り得るシクロアルキル基は無置換であってもよく、置換基を有してもよい。R1として採り得るシクロアルキル基が置換基を有する場合、この置換基としては後述する置換基群Zから選ばれる基が挙げられる。なかでもこの置換基は、ハロゲン原子、アリール基、アルケニル基、アルキニル基、ヒドロキシ基、アルコキシ基、アシルオキシ基、アリールオキシ基、アシルアミノ基、アミノ基、アルコキシカルボニル基、カルバモイル基、シアノ基、アルキルスルホニル基、アリールスルホニル基、スルファモイル基、カルボキシ基、スルホ基、アシル基及びヘテロ環基から選ばれる基が好ましく、特に、ハロゲン原子、ヒドロキシ基、ジアルキルアミノ基、カルボキシ基及びスルファモイル基から選ばれる基が好ましい。
R1がシクロアルキル基の場合、R1の炭素数は3~12が好ましく、4~12がより好ましく、5~10がさらに好ましく、6~10がさらに好ましい。R1として採り得るシクロアルキル基の具体例としては、例えば、無置換のシクロプロピル、無置換のシクロペンチル、無置換のシクロヘキシル、2-メチルシクロヘキシル、無置換のアダマンチル、4-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシル、及び4-カルボキシシクロヘキシルが挙げられる。
R1として採り得るシクロアルキル基は、無置換のシクロアルキル基、又はカルボキシ基を置換基として有するシクロアルキル基(好ましくは、カルボキシ基を置換基として1つ有するシクロアルキル基)が好ましい。

R1がアリール基の場合、R1の炭素数は6~18が好ましく、6~15がより好ましく、6~12がさらに好ましく、6~10が特に好ましい。R1として採り得るアリール基の具体例としては、例えば、無置換のフェニル、ナフタレン-1-イル、アントラセン-9-イル、2-メチルフェニル、2,6-ジメチルフェニル、2,4,6-トリメチルフェニル、4-tert-ブチルフェニル、4-ビニルフェニル、2-アリルフェニル、4-エチニルフェニル、2-フェニルフェニル、2-カルボキシフェニル、3-カルボキシフェニル、4-カルボキシフェニル、2-メトキシフェニル、3-ヒドロキシフェニル、4-ヒドロキシフェニル、4-メルカプトフェニル、4-アセトアミドフェニル、4-カルバモイルフェニル、4-スルファモイルフェニル、4-ジメチルアミノフェニル、3-ジヒドロキシボリルフェニル、3-トリフルオロメチルフェニル、3,5-ビス(トリフルオロメチル)フェニル、2,4-ジフルオロフェニル、及び2,3,4,5,6-ペンタフルオロフェニルが挙げられる。
R1として採り得るアリール基は、無置換のフェニル、カルボキシ基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、カルボキシ基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、ヒドロキシ基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、ヒドロキシ基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、カルバモイル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、カルバモイル基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、スルファモイル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、スルファモイル基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、トリフルオロメチル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、トリフルオロメチル基を置換基として2つ有するフェニル)、フッ素原子を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、フッ素原子を置換基として2つ有するフェニル)、又はジヒドロキシボリルを置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、ジヒドロキシボリルを置換基として1つ有するフェニル)が好ましい。
R1として採り得るアリール基は、無置換のフェニル、カルボキシ基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、カルボキシ基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、ヒドロキシ基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、ヒドロキシ基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、カルバモイル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、カルバモイル基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、スルファモイル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、スルファモイル基を置換基として1つ有するフェニル)、トリフルオロメチル基を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、トリフルオロメチル基を置換基として2つ有するフェニル)、フッ素原子を置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、フッ素原子を置換基として2つ有するフェニル)、又はジヒドロキシボリルを置換基として有するフェニル(好ましくは、ジヒドロキシボリルを置換基として1つ有するフェニル)が好ましい。
R1は、より好ましくは、水素原子であるか、又は、無置換のアルキル基、置換基としてカルボキシ基及び/又はフッ素原子を有するアルキル基、無置換のフェニル基、並びに、置換基としてカルボキシ基、ヒドロキシ基、カルバモイル基、スルファモイル基、トリフルオロメチル基、フッ素原子及びジヒドロキシボリル基から選ばれる基を有するフェニル基から選ばれる基であり、さらに好ましくは、水素原子であるか、又は、無置換のアルキル基、置換基としてフッ素原子を有するアルキル基、無置換のフェニル、並びに、置換基としてカルボキシ基、ヒドロキシ基、カルバモイル基、スルファモイル基及びジヒドロキシボリル基から選ばれる基を有するフェニルから選ばれる基である。製造適性も考慮すると、R1は水素原子であることが特に好ましい。
R2、R3及びR4はアルキル基を示す。R2、R3及びR4として採り得るアルキル基は無置換であってもよく、置換基を有してもよい。また、このアルキル基は直鎖でもよく、分岐を有してもよい。R2、R3及びR4として採り得るアルキル基が置換基を有する場合、この置換基としては後述する置換基群Zから選ばれる基(但しアルキル基を除く)が挙げられる。なかでもこの置換基は、ハロゲン原子、アリール基、アルコキシ基及びアシルアミノ基から選ばれる基が好ましく、特に、ハロゲン原子又はアシルアミノ基が好ましい。
R2、R3及びR4の炭素数は1~12が好ましく、1~9がより好ましく、1~6がさらに好ましく、1~3が特に好ましい。R2、R3及びR4の具体例として、例えば、無置換のメチル、無置換のエチル、無置換のイソプロピル、無置換のtert-ブチル、無置換のヘキシル、無置換のドデシル、アセチルアミノメチル、及びトリフルオロメチルが挙げられる。
R2、R3及びR4は無置換のアルキル基が好ましく、無置換のメチルが特に好ましい。

上記一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物の具体例を以下に示すが、本発明はこれらの具体例に限定されるものではない。下記具体例中、Meはメチル、Etはエチルを示す。
上記一般式(I)で表される化合物を得るための方法に特に制限はない。上記一般式(I)で表される化合物を得るための合成反応について、その好ましい形態における反応スキームを以下に示す。
上記一般式(V)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物と、酸無水物及び/又は酸ハロゲン化物(以下、「アシル化剤」ともいう。)とを塩基共存下で反応させることにより、上記一般式(IV)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を得ることができる(この反応を「反応(V-IV)」という。)。一般式(IV)中、R5及びR6はアルキル基(好ましくは炭素数1~10、より好ましくは炭素数1~6、さらに好ましくは炭素数1~3のアルキル基である。このアルキル基は直鎖でも分岐を有してもよい。)を示す。R5及びR6で表されるアルキル基は無置換でもよく、置換基を有してもよい。
上記アシル化剤としては、例えば、トリフルオロ酢酸無水物、塩化アセチル、無水酢酸、塩化クロロアセチル等を用いることができる。なかでも上記アシル化剤としてトリフルオロ酢酸無水物を好適に用いることができ、この場合、R5及びR6はトリフルオロメチル基(-CF3)となる。
また、上記塩基としては、例えば、ピリジン、トリエチルアミン、ジメチルアニリン、水酸化ナトリウム等を用いることができる。なかでも上記塩基としてピリジン、トリエチルアミン等の有機塩基を好適に用いることができ、ピリジンを用いることが特に好ましい。
反応(V-IV)には溶媒を用いてもよく、この溶媒としては、アセトニトリル、酢酸エチル及び/又はテトラヒドロフランを好適に用いることができる。上記スキームでは、一般式(IV)の化合物をスルホン酸として単離しているが、スルホン酸の有機塩基塩として単離することもできる。
反応(V-IV)における反応温度は-10~80℃とすることが好ましく、5~70℃とすることがより好ましい。また反応(V-IV)の反応時間は1~24時間とすることが好ましく、2~12時間とすることがより好ましい。また、反応(V-IV)の反応開始時点において、反応液中、一般式(V)で表される化合物の濃度は10~1000w/v%とすることが好ましい。また、反応(V-IV)の反応開始時点において、一般式(V)で表される化合物に対するアシル化剤のモル比(アシル化剤/一般式(V)の化合物)は化学量論比で定まるが、通常は2/1~10/1とする。
なお、一般式(V)で表される化合物は常法により合成することができ、また、市販品を用いてもよい。かかる市販品は、例えば東京化成工業株式会社、和光純薬工業株式会社等から入手できる。
上記アシル化剤としては、例えば、トリフルオロ酢酸無水物、塩化アセチル、無水酢酸、塩化クロロアセチル等を用いることができる。なかでも上記アシル化剤としてトリフルオロ酢酸無水物を好適に用いることができ、この場合、R5及びR6はトリフルオロメチル基(-CF3)となる。

一般式(IV)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物から一般式(III)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を得る反応(この反応を「反応(IV-III)」という。)は、酸ハロゲン化反応である。一般式(III)中のXは塩素原子または臭素原子を示す。
この反応にはハロゲン化剤として塩化チオニル、臭化チオニル、オキシ塩化リン等を使用することができ、特に塩化チオニル及び/又はオキシ塩化リンを使用することが好ましい。
反応(IV-III)には溶媒を用いてもよく、この溶媒としては、アセトニトリル、トルエン、及び/又はクロロベンゼンを好適に用いることができる。
反応(IV-III)における反応温度は5~120℃とすることが好ましく、20~80℃とすることがより好ましい。また反応(IV-III)の反応時間は1~24時間とすることが好ましく、2~12時間とすることがより好ましい。また、反応(IV-III)の反応開始時点において、反応液中、一般式(IV)で表される化合物の濃度は10~1000w/v%とすることが好ましい。また、反応(IV~III)の反応開始時点において、一般式(IV)で表される化合物に対するハロゲン化剤のモル比(ハロゲン化剤/一般式(IV)の化合物)は化学量論比で定まるが、通常は1/1~50/1とする。

は、スルホンアミド化反応(スルファモイル化反応)である。この反応では、塩基存在下、一般式(III)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物と、所望の構造を有するアミン(R1NH2、R1は一般式(I)におけるR1と同義)とを反応させる。また、塩基を使用せずに、R1NH2を過剰量用いてもよい。
反応(III-II)には溶媒を用いてもよく、この溶媒としては、水、テトラヒドロフラン、アセトニトリル、及び/又はN-メチルピロリドンが好ましい。

一般式(II)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物から一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を得る反応(この反応を「反応(II-I)」という。)は、脱保護反応である。この反応条件は、上記の反応(V-IV)においてアシル化剤を反応させて導入した保護基の反応性に応じて、適宜に調整される。例えば、R5及びR6がトリフルオロメチル基の場合は、脱保護反応の反応条件を塩基性条件としてもよく、酸性条件としてもよい。塩基性条件とする場合に用いる塩基としては、例えば、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム等を挙げることができる。また、酸性条件とする場合に用いる酸としては、例えば、塩酸、硫酸、メタンスルホン酸、リン酸等を挙げることができる。
反応(II-I)には溶媒を用いることが好ましく、この溶媒としては、水及び/又はアルコール(メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、エチレングリコールなど)を好適に用いることができる。
反応(II-I)における反応温度は20~150℃とすることが好ましく、50~130℃とすることがより好ましい。また反応(II-I)の反応時間は0.25~12時間とすることが好ましく、0.5~8時間とすることがより好ましい。また、反応(II-I)の反応開始時点において、反応液のpHは1~2、又は、13~14とすることが好ましい。
反応(II-I)には溶媒を用いることが好ましく、この溶媒としては、水及び/又はアルコール(メタノール、エタノール、イソプロパノール、エチレングリコールなど)を好適に用いることができる。
反応(II-I)における反応温度は20~150℃とすることが好ましく、50~130℃とすることがより好ましい。また反応(II-I)の反応時間は0.25~12時間とすることが好ましく、0.5~8時間とすることがより好ましい。また、反応(II-I)の反応開始時点において、反応液のpHは1~2、又は、13~14とすることが好ましい。
上記一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物の用途に特に制限はない。例えば、各種高分子化合物の合成原料として用いることができる。より詳細には、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物とテトラカルボン酸二無水物と縮重合させることにより、ポリイミド化合物を得ることができる。ポリイミド化合物の合成は、用いる原料以外は、常法により行うことができる。また、一般的な成書(例えば、今井淑夫、横田力男編著、「最新ポリイミド~基礎と応用~」、株式会社エヌ・ティー・エス、2010年8月25日、p.3~49、など)を適宜参照して合成することができる。

一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を原料として得られた高分子化合物は、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物が有する特有の構造に起因して所望の特性ないし機能性が付与される。例えば、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を原料として合成した高分子化合物を用いて樹脂材料を作製した場合、この樹脂材料に柔軟性と剛直性という、互いに相反する両特性をほどよく付与することができる。この理由は定かではないが、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物由来の成分が有するR2、R3及びR4のすべてがアルキル基であることにより、高分子化合物の平面性ないしパッキング性をほどよく抑えることができると推察される。一方で、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物由来の成分が有するスルファモイル基の作用により高分子化合物が適度に緻密化して運動性をほどよく抑えられることが一因と考えられる。
上記特性に基づき、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物をジアミン原料として合成した高分子化合物(好ましくはポリイミド化合物)は、例えば、ガス分離膜のガス分離層としても好適に用いることができる。この高分子化合物を用いることにより、ガス分離層を薄層に形成した場合であっても、混合ガス中から所望のガス成分を高い選択性で透過させることができ、ガス透過性とガス分離選択性の両立を高度なレベルで実現することができる。しかもこのガス分離膜は、天然ガス中に存在するトルエン等の不純物成分に曝されても可塑化しにくく、耐久性に優れる。
この理由は定かではないが、上述したように高分子化合物の平面性ないしパッキング性がほどよく抑えられて自由体積分率が大きくなり、ガス透過性が向上すること、上述したように高分子化合物が適度に緻密化して運動性がほどよく抑えられることにより、動的分子径の大きな分子についてはその透過性を効果的に抑えることができること、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物由来の成分が有するスルファモイル基により可塑化成分(トルエン等)との相互作用性が効果的に抑えられることなどが一因と考えられる。
高分子膜のガス分離膜への適用については、例えば、特開2015-160166号公報、特開2015-160167号公報を参照することができる。
この理由は定かではないが、上述したように高分子化合物の平面性ないしパッキング性がほどよく抑えられて自由体積分率が大きくなり、ガス透過性が向上すること、上述したように高分子化合物が適度に緻密化して運動性がほどよく抑えられることにより、動的分子径の大きな分子についてはその透過性を効果的に抑えることができること、一般式(I)のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物由来の成分が有するスルファモイル基により可塑化成分(トルエン等)との相互作用性が効果的に抑えられることなどが一因と考えられる。

本発明において「高分子化合物」とは、繰り返し単位が2つ以上連結してなる構造であれば特に制限されず、オリゴマーないしポリマーを包含する意味(通常より広義の意味)に用いられる。本発明に用いる高分子化合物の分子量は、上記構造を満たす限り特に制限されず、重量平均分子量として1,000~1,000,000であることが好ましく、より好ましくは10,000~500,000であり、さらに好ましくは20,000~300,000である。ここで、分子量が1,000以上のものについては、重量平均分子量としての値である。
本明細書において分子量及び分散度は特に断らない限りGPC(ゲルろ過クロマトグラフィー)法を用いて測定した値とし、分子量はポリスチレン換算の重量平均分子量とする。GPC法に用いるカラムに充填されているゲルは芳香族化合物を繰り返し単位に持つゲルが好ましく、例えばスチレン-ジビニルベンゼン共重合体からなるゲルが挙げられる。カラムは2~6本連結させて用いることが好ましい。用いる溶媒は、テトラヒドロフラン等のエーテル系溶媒、N-メチルピロリジノン等のアミド系溶媒が挙げられる。測定は、溶媒の流速が0.1~2mL/minの範囲で行うことが好ましく、0.5~1.5mL/minの範囲で行うことが最も好ましい。この範囲内で測定を行うことで、装置に負荷がかからず、さらに効率的に測定ができる。測定温度は10~50℃で行うことが好ましく、20~40℃で行うことが最も好ましい。なお、使用するカラム及びキャリアは測定対称となる高分子化合物の物性に応じて適宜選定することができる。
以下に実施例に基づき本発明を更に詳細に説明するが、本発明はこれらの実施例により限定されるものではない。
[合成例]
下記反応スキームに従い、下記の各合成例に示すm-フェニレン化合物を合成した。なお、下記の各合成例においてm-フェニレンジアミン化合物の番号は、上述した例示のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物の番号に対応する。

<合成例1 m-フェニレン化合物1-1(R1が水素原子)の合成>
(中間体1の合成)
ジアミノメシチレンスルホン酸(和光純薬工業社製)(60g)、アセトニトリル(和光純薬工業社製)(380g)、ピリジン(和光純薬工業社製)(23g)を1Lフラスコに入れた。次いで、氷冷下、トリフルオロ酢酸無水物(和光純薬工業社製)(115g)を慎重に滴下した後、70℃で2時間反応させた。得られた溶液を室温まで冷却後、メタノール(和光純薬工業社製)(30g)を加え、1時間攪拌した。得られた溶液を減圧濃縮後、塩酸を用いて精製し、中間体1(110g)を得た。
(中間体1の合成)

アセトニトリル(和光純薬工業社製)(440mL)、中間体1(68g)を1Lフラスコに入れた。次いで、塩化チオニル(和光純薬工業社製)(115g)、ジメチルホルムアミド(和光純薬工業社製)(0.9g)を慎重に加えた後、発熱、発泡に注意しながら内温を70℃まで上昇させ2時間撹拌した。得られた反応混合液を減圧留去後、反応混合物を氷にあけ、精製し中間体2(65g)を得た。

25%アンモニア水(和光純薬工業社製)(90g)を500mLフラスコに入れた。次いで、氷冷下、中間体2(43g)をテトラヒドロフラン(和光純薬工業社製)(130g)に懸濁させた液を慎重に加えた。得られた溶液を40℃で2時間攪拌した後、減圧濃縮し、精製して、R1がHである中間体3(30g)を得た。

(m-フェニレン化合物1-1の合成)
中間体3(R1がH)(30g)、メタノール(和光純薬工業社製)(100g)を200mLフラスコに入れた。次いで、メタンスルホン酸(和光純薬工業社製)(30g)を慎重に加え、発熱に注意しながら昇温し、120℃で30分攪拌した。得られた反応溶液を冷却した後、反応溶液を炭酸カリウム溶液にあけた後、精製してm-フェニレン化合物1-1(11g)を得た。

<合成例10 ポリマーP-01の合成>
下記スキームに従いポリマーP-01を合成した。
下記スキームに従いポリマーP-01を合成した。
m-クレゾール(和光純薬工業社製)(100g)、上記合成例1で得たm-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1(10.00g)、4,4’-(ヘキサフルオロイソプロピリデン)ジフタル酸無水物(6FDA、東京化成工業社製)(19.37g)を500mLフラスコに入れた。次いで、トルエン(和光純薬工業社製)(10g)、イソキノリン(和光純薬工業社製)(1.5g)を加えた後、180℃まで加熱し、6時間反応させた。得られた溶液を室温(25℃)まで冷却後、アセトン(和光純薬工業社製)で希釈した。その後、イソプロピルアルコール(和光純薬工業社製)を加えてポリマーを固体として得た。同様の再沈殿を2回繰り返した後、80℃で乾燥し、ポリマーP-01(24g)を得た。
<合成例11~18 ポリマーP-02~P-09の合成>
上記合成例10において、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1に代えて、上記合成例2~9で得た各m-フェニレンジアミン化合物を用いた以外は、合成例10と同様にして、下記構造のポリマーP-02~P-09を得た。

上記合成例10において、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1に代えて、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1のスルファモイル基における2つの水素原子をいずれもn-C4H9に置換した構造の化合物を用いた以外は、合成例10と同様にして下記構造の比較ポリマーC-01を得た。
上記合成例10において、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1に代えて、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1のスルファモイル基における2つの水素原子をいずれもn-C4H9に置換した構造の化合物を用いた以外は、合成例10と同様にして下記構造の比較ポリマーC-01を得た。
<比較合成例2 比較ポリマーC-02の合成>
上記合成例10において、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1に代えて、ジアミノメシチレンスルホン酸(和光純薬工業社製)を用い、トリエチルアミン(4.41g)を添加し、更に、ポリマーの精製時、塩酸を用いた以外は、上記ポリマーP-01の合成と同様にして比較ポリマーC-02を得た。
上記合成例10において、m-フェニレンジアミン化合物1-1に代えて、ジアミノメシチレンスルホン酸(和光純薬工業社製)を用い、トリエチルアミン(4.41g)を添加し、更に、ポリマーの精製時、塩酸を用いた以外は、上記ポリマーP-01の合成と同様にして比較ポリマーC-02を得た。
<比較合成例3 比較ポリマーC-03の合成>
2,3,5,6-テトラメチル-1,4-フェニレンジアミン(2.97g)、N-メチルピロリドン(50mL)を300mLフラスコに入れた。氷冷下、6FDA(東京化成工業社製)(8.04g)を添加し、N-メチルピロリドン(6mL)で洗い込んだ。40℃で5時間攪拌した後、ピリジン(和光純薬工業社製)(0.43g)、無水酢酸(和光純薬工業社製)(6.10g)を加え、反応溶液を80℃まで昇温させ、3時間攪拌した。冷却し、アセトンを加えた後、メタノールを加え、比較ポリマーC-03を粉体として析出させた。メタノール洗浄を2回繰り返した後、40℃で乾燥し、比較ポリマーC-03(9.32g)を得た。
2,3,5,6-テトラメチル-1,4-フェニレンジアミン(2.97g)、N-メチルピロリドン(50mL)を300mLフラスコに入れた。氷冷下、6FDA(東京化成工業社製)(8.04g)を添加し、N-メチルピロリドン(6mL)で洗い込んだ。40℃で5時間攪拌した後、ピリジン(和光純薬工業社製)(0.43g)、無水酢酸(和光純薬工業社製)(6.10g)を加え、反応溶液を80℃まで昇温させ、3時間攪拌した。冷却し、アセトンを加えた後、メタノールを加え、比較ポリマーC-03を粉体として析出させた。メタノール洗浄を2回繰り返した後、40℃で乾燥し、比較ポリマーC-03(9.32g)を得た。
[参考例1] 複合膜の作製
<平滑層付PAN多孔質膜の作製>
(ジアルキルシロキサン基を有する放射線硬化性ポリマーの調製)
150mLの3口フラスコにUV9300(Momentive社製)39g、X-22-162C(信越化学工業社製)10g、DBU(1,8-ジアザビシクロ[5.4.0]ウンデカ-7-エン)0.007gを加え、n-ヘプタン50gに溶解させた。これを95℃で168時間維持させて、ポリ(シロキサン)基を有する放射線硬化性ポリマー溶液(25℃で粘度22.8mPa・s)を得た。
<平滑層付PAN多孔質膜の作製>
(ジアルキルシロキサン基を有する放射線硬化性ポリマーの調製)
150mLの3口フラスコにUV9300(Momentive社製)39g、X-22-162C(信越化学工業社製)10g、DBU(1,8-ジアザビシクロ[5.4.0]ウンデカ-7-エン)0.007gを加え、n-ヘプタン50gに溶解させた。これを95℃で168時間維持させて、ポリ(シロキサン)基を有する放射線硬化性ポリマー溶液(25℃で粘度22.8mPa・s)を得た。
(重合性の放射線硬化性組成物の調製)
上記放射線硬化性ポリマー溶液5gを20℃まで冷却し、n-ヘプタン95gで希釈した。得られた溶液に対し、光重合開始剤であるUV9380C(Momentive社製)0.5g及びオルガチックスTA-10(マツモトファインケミカル社製)0.1gを添加し、重合性の放射線硬化性組成物を調製した。
上記放射線硬化性ポリマー溶液5gを20℃まで冷却し、n-ヘプタン95gで希釈した。得られた溶液に対し、光重合開始剤であるUV9380C(Momentive社製)0.5g及びオルガチックスTA-10(マツモトファインケミカル社製)0.1gを添加し、重合性の放射線硬化性組成物を調製した。
(重合性の放射線硬化性組成物の多孔質支持体への塗布、平滑層の形成)
PAN(ポリアクリロニトリル)多孔質膜(不織布上にポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜が存在、不織布を含め、膜厚は約180μm)を支持体として上記の重合性の放射線硬化性組成物をスピンコートした後、UV強度24kW/m、処理時間10秒のUV処理条件でUV処理(Fusion UV System社製、Light Hammer 10、D-バルブ)を行った後、乾燥させた。このようにして、多孔質支持体上にジアルキルシロキサン基を有する厚み1μmの平滑層を形成した。
PAN(ポリアクリロニトリル)多孔質膜(不織布上にポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜が存在、不織布を含め、膜厚は約180μm)を支持体として上記の重合性の放射線硬化性組成物をスピンコートした後、UV強度24kW/m、処理時間10秒のUV処理条件でUV処理(Fusion UV System社製、Light Hammer 10、D-バルブ)を行った後、乾燥させた。このようにして、多孔質支持体上にジアルキルシロキサン基を有する厚み1μmの平滑層を形成した。
<複合膜の作製>
図1に示すガス分離複合膜20を作製した。このガス分離複合膜20は、ガス分離層1及び多孔質層2に加え、支持層として不織布層3を有する。なお、図1には平滑層は図示していない。
30ml褐色バイアル瓶に、ポリマーP-01を0.08g、テトラヒドロフラン7.92gを混合して30分攪拌した後、上記平滑層を付与したPAN多孔質膜上にスピンコートしてガス分離層を形成し、複合膜を得た。ポリマーP-01層の厚さは約100nmであり、ポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜の厚さは不織布を含めて約180μmであった。
なお、これらのポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜の分画分子量は100,000以下のものを使用した。また、この多孔質膜の40℃、5MPaにおける二酸化炭素の透過性は、25000GPUであった。
図1に示すガス分離複合膜20を作製した。このガス分離複合膜20は、ガス分離層1及び多孔質層2に加え、支持層として不織布層3を有する。なお、図1には平滑層は図示していない。
30ml褐色バイアル瓶に、ポリマーP-01を0.08g、テトラヒドロフラン7.92gを混合して30分攪拌した後、上記平滑層を付与したPAN多孔質膜上にスピンコートしてガス分離層を形成し、複合膜を得た。ポリマーP-01層の厚さは約100nmであり、ポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜の厚さは不織布を含めて約180μmであった。
なお、これらのポリアクリロニトリル多孔質膜の分画分子量は100,000以下のものを使用した。また、この多孔質膜の40℃、5MPaにおける二酸化炭素の透過性は、25000GPUであった。
[参考例2~9] 複合膜の作製
参考例1のポリマーP-01に代えて、それぞれポリマーP-02~P-09を用いた以外は、参考例1と同様にして複合膜を得た。
参考例1のポリマーP-01に代えて、それぞれポリマーP-02~P-09を用いた以外は、参考例1と同様にして複合膜を得た。
[比較用参考例1~3] 複合膜の作製
上記参考例1のポリマーP-01に代えて、それぞれ比較ポリマーC-01~C-03を用いた以外は、参考例1と同様にして複合膜を得た。なお、比較ポリマーC-02はテトラヒドロフランに溶解しなかったため、テトラヒドロフランに代えてメタノールを用いた。
上記参考例1のポリマーP-01に代えて、それぞれ比較ポリマーC-01~C-03を用いた以外は、参考例1と同様にして複合膜を得た。なお、比較ポリマーC-02はテトラヒドロフランに溶解しなかったため、テトラヒドロフランに代えてメタノールを用いた。
[試験例1] 複合膜のCO2透過速度及びガス分離選択性の評価-1
上記各参考例及び比較用参考例で得た複合膜を用いて、ガス分離性能を以下のように評価した。
複合膜を多孔質支持体(支持層)ごと直径5cmに切り取り、透過試験サンプルを作製した。GTRテック株式会社製ガス透過率測定装置を用い、二酸化炭素(CO2):メタン(CH4)が6:94(体積比)の混合ガスをガス供給側の全圧力が5MPa(CO2の分圧:0.3MPa)、流量500mL/min、30℃となるように調整し、供給した。透過してきたガスをガスクロマトグラフィーにより分析した。膜のガス透過性は、ガス透過率(Permeance)としてガス透過速度を算出することにより比較した。ガス透過率(ガス透過速度)の単位はGPU(ジーピーユー)単位〔1GPU=1×10-6cm3(STP)/cm2・sec・cmHg〕で表した。ガス分離選択性は、この膜のCH4の透過速度RCH4に対するCO2の透過速度RCO2の比(RCO2/RCH4)として計算した。
上記各参考例及び比較用参考例で得た複合膜を用いて、ガス分離性能を以下のように評価した。
複合膜を多孔質支持体(支持層)ごと直径5cmに切り取り、透過試験サンプルを作製した。GTRテック株式会社製ガス透過率測定装置を用い、二酸化炭素(CO2):メタン(CH4)が6:94(体積比)の混合ガスをガス供給側の全圧力が5MPa(CO2の分圧:0.3MPa)、流量500mL/min、30℃となるように調整し、供給した。透過してきたガスをガスクロマトグラフィーにより分析した。膜のガス透過性は、ガス透過率(Permeance)としてガス透過速度を算出することにより比較した。ガス透過率(ガス透過速度)の単位はGPU(ジーピーユー)単位〔1GPU=1×10-6cm3(STP)/cm2・sec・cmHg〕で表した。ガス分離選択性は、この膜のCH4の透過速度RCH4に対するCO2の透過速度RCO2の比(RCO2/RCH4)として計算した。
[試験例2] トルエン暴露試験
トルエン溶媒を張ったシャーレを入れたステンレス製容器内に、参考例及び比較用参考例において作製した複合膜を入れ、密閉系とした。その後、25℃条件下で10分間保存した後、上記[試験例1]と同様に、複合膜を直径5cmに切り取り、透過試験サンプルを作製し、ガス分離性能を評価した。トルエン暴露によって、ベンゼン、トルエン、キシレン等の不純物成分に対するガス分離膜の可塑化耐性を評価できる。
トルエン溶媒を張ったシャーレを入れたステンレス製容器内に、参考例及び比較用参考例において作製した複合膜を入れ、密閉系とした。その後、25℃条件下で10分間保存した後、上記[試験例1]と同様に、複合膜を直径5cmに切り取り、透過試験サンプルを作製し、ガス分離性能を評価した。トルエン暴露によって、ベンゼン、トルエン、キシレン等の不純物成分に対するガス分離膜の可塑化耐性を評価できる。
上記の各試験例の結果を下記表1に示す。
比較ポリマーC-01は、ポリマー中のm-フェニレンジアミン成分がスルファモイル基を有するが、このスルファモイルが有する2つの置換基がいずれも置換された形態である。この比較ポリマーC-01を用いてガス分離層を形成した複合膜は、ガス分離選択性(RCO2/RCH4)に劣る結果となった。またこの複合膜はトルエン曝露によって可塑化しやすく、耐久性に大きく劣る結果となった。
また、比較ポリマーC-02は、上述の通りテトラヒドロフランに溶解せず、メタノールに溶解して塗布、製膜した。しかし、得られたガス分離層は膜欠陥が多く、ガス分離性能を示さなかった。
また、比較ポリマーC-03は、ポリマー中のフェニレンジアミン成分がスルファモイル基を有しない。この比較ポリマーC-03を用いてガス分離層を形成した複合膜は、ガス分離選択性(RCO2/RCH4)に劣る結果となった。またこの複合膜はトルエン曝露によって可塑化しやすく、耐久性に著しく劣る結果となった。
また、比較ポリマーC-02は、上述の通りテトラヒドロフランに溶解せず、メタノールに溶解して塗布、製膜した。しかし、得られたガス分離層は膜欠陥が多く、ガス分離性能を示さなかった。
また、比較ポリマーC-03は、ポリマー中のフェニレンジアミン成分がスルファモイル基を有しない。この比較ポリマーC-03を用いてガス分離層を形成した複合膜は、ガス分離選択性(RCO2/RCH4)に劣る結果となった。またこの複合膜はトルエン曝露によって可塑化しやすく、耐久性に著しく劣る結果となった。
これに対し、一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を原料として得たポリマーであるP-01~P-09を膜材料として用いることにより、膜欠陥のない薄膜を形成できることがわかった。また、この薄膜をガス分離層とすることにより、二酸化炭素の透過速度を25GPU以上に高めながら、ガス分離選択性(RCO2/RCH4)についても20以上にまで高められることがわかった。つまり、ガス透過性とガス分離選択性の両立を高度なレベルで実現できることがわかる。さらに、P-01~P-09を膜材料として用いることにより、膜をトルエンに暴露しても可塑化しにくく、高いガス分離選択性を持続的に発現できることもわかった。
このように、一般式(I)で表されるm-フェニレンジアミン化合物は、高分子化合物の合成原料として用いることにより、その特有の分子構造に基づき高分子化合物に対して所望の特性ないし機能性を付与することができる。

- 前記一般式(II)中、R5及びR6がトリフルオロメチル基を示す、請求項2記載のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
- 前記一般式(III)中、R5及びR6がトリフルオロメチル基を示す、請求項4記載のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
- 前記一般式(III)中、Xが塩素原子を示す、請求項4又は5記載のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物。
- 請求項1記載のm-フェニレンジアミン化合物を原料として高分子化合物を得ることを含む、高分子化合物の製造方法。
- 前記高分子化合物がポリイミド化合物、ポリウレタン化合物、ポリウレア化合物及びポリアミド化合物から選ばれる化合物である、請求項7記載の高分子化合物の製造方法。
