Abstract

Description
본 개시는 잉크젯 헤드 및 이를 포함하는 화상형성장치에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 별도의 전류 증폭 트랜지스터의 이용 없이 액추에이터 구동이 가능한 잉크젯 헤드 및 이를 포함하는 화상형성장치에 관한 것이다.
화상형성장치는 컴퓨터와 같은 인쇄제어 단말장치에서 생성된 인쇄 데이터를 인쇄용지에 인쇄하는 장치를 의미한다. 이러한 화상형성장치의 예로는 복사기, 프린터, 팩시밀리 또는 이들의 기능을 하나의 장치를 통해 복합적으로 구현하는 복합기(Multi Function Peripheral: MFP) 등을 들 수 있다.
화상형성장치는 다양한 방식으로 화상을 형성할 수 있다. 이 중 하나로 잉크젯 방식이 활용되고 있다. 잉크젯 방식이란 액체 잉크를 분사하여 종이 등과 같은 미디어에 이미지를 형성하는 방식을 의미한다.
일반적으로 잉크젯 방식은 액체 상태의 잉크에 끓는점 이상으로 가열하고, 이로 인한 부피 변화를 이용하여 잉크 챔버 내에 있는 잉크를 노즐을 통하여 토출하는 열적 잉크젯(thermal inkjet) 방식과 전류를 가하면 기계적 변위를 일으키는 피에조(piezo) 물질을 이용하여 잉크 챔버 내의 잉크를 노즐을 통하여 토출하는 압전 잉크젯 방식(Piezoelectric inkjet)이 널리 사용되고 있다.
한편, 600 DPI 해상도 출력 가능한 잉크젯 헤드를 0.5인치 길이로 제작하기 위해서는 300개 이상의 액추에이터가 잉크젯 헤드 내에 포함되어야 한다. 그런데 각 액추에이터를 전선으로 연결하기 어렵기 때문에 일반적으로 외부에서 디지털 신호를 수신받고 CMOS 회로 등을 통하여 액추에이터가 작동하도록 신호를 제공하였다.
다만, CMOS 회로에서 나오는 신호는 액추에이터를 작동시키기에는 너무 작아, 종래에는 전력 트랜지스터를 잉크젯 헤드에 배치하여 CMOS에서 출력되는 신호를 전류 증폭하고, 증폭된 전류를 이용하여 액추에이터를 구동하였다.
이와 같이 종래의 잉크젯 헤드는 각 액추에이터와 드라이버 IC를 개별적으로 연결하기 위한 수만큼의 와이어가 필요하고, 각 액추에이터에 전류를 증폭하여 제공할 수 있는 파워 트랜지스터도 필요하였다는 점에서, 잉크젯 헤드의 배치면적을 줄이는데 한계가 있었다.
따라서, 본 개시의 목적은 별도의 전류 증폭 트랜지스터 이용 없이 액추에이터 구동이 가능한 잉크젯 헤드 및 이를 포함하는 화상형성장치에 관한 것이다.
이상과 같은 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 개시의 일 실시 예에 따른 화상형성장치는 화상형성장치에 있어서, 복수의 노즐을 이용하여 화상을 형성하는 잉크젯 헤드, 및, 상기 복수의 노즐을 순차적으로 구동시키기 위한 복수의 클럭 신호와 상기 복수의 노즐의 구동 순서 및 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 시리얼 형태의 구동 신호를 생성하는 인쇄 데이터 프로세서를 포함하고, 상기 잉크젯 헤드는, 상기 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 상기 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 구동되고, 순차적으로 구동되는 복수의 노즐 각각은 구동시에 입력되는 상기 구동 신호에 따라 잉크를 토출한다.
이 경우, 상기 잉크젯 헤드는 상기 복수의 노즐 각각에 잉크가 토출되도록 하는 복수의 액추에이터, 상기 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 구동될 액추에이터를 순차적으로 선택하는 제1 스위치부, 및, 상기 구동 신호에 따라 상기 선택된 액추에이터에 구동 전원을 선택적으로 제공하는 제2 스위치부를 포함할 수 있다.
이 경우, 상기 복수의 액추에이터, 상기 제1 스위치부 및 상기 제2 스위치부는 하나의 실리콘 기판에 구성될 수 있다.
한편, 상기 복수의 액추에이터 각각은 상기 구동 전원을 입력받는 저항을 이용하여 잉크 챔버 내에 잉크를 노즐로 토출할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 복수의 액추에이터 각각은 상기 구동 전원을 입력받는 압전소자를 이용하여 잉크 챔버 내에 잉크를 노즐로 토출할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 제1 스위치부는 직렬 연결된 복수의 다이오드, 상기 복수의 다이오드 각각의 캐소드에 개별적으로 연결된 복수의 저항을 이용하여 제1 전원을 제공하는 전원부, 및, 상기 복수의 다이오드 각각의 캐소드에 게이트가 연결되고, 제2 전원이 애노드에 연결되고, 캐소드에 상기 복수의 클럭 신호 중 하나의 클럭 신호가 입력되는 단자에 연결되는 복수의 제1 사이리스터를 포함하고, 상기 제2 스위치부는, 상기 복수의 다이오드 각각의 캐소드에 게이트가 연결되고, 상기 제2 전원이 애노드에 연결되고, 캐소드가 상기 복수의 액추에이터 각각의 일 단에 연결되는 복수의 제2 사이리스터를 포함할 수 있다.
이 경우, 상기 복수의 액추에이터 각각은, 일 단이 상기 복수의 제2 사이리스터 중 대응되는 제2 사이리스터의 캐소드에 연결되고, 타 단이 상기 구동 신호를 입력받는 단자에 연결될 수 있다.
한편, 상기 복수의 클럭 신호는 기설정된 주기로 신호 값이 가변되는 제2 클럭 신호, 상기 제2 클럭 신호의 신호 값의 유지 구간에서 신호 값이 천이되는 제1 클럭 신호를 포함하고, 상기 제1 클럭 신호는 상기 복수의 제1 사이리스터 중 짝수번째 제1 사이리스터의 캐소드에 공통 연결되고, 상기 제2 클럭 신호는 상기 복수의 제1 사이리스터 중 홀수번째 제1 사이리스터의 캐소드에 공통 연결될 수 있다.
이 경우, 상기 복수의 다이오드 중 제1 다이오드의 애노드는, 로우 값을 유지하다가 상기 제2 클럭 신호의 첫 번째 천이 과정에서 하이 값으로 천이되고, 상기 구동 신호의 첫 번째 천이 과정 전에 로우 값으로 천이되어 로우 값을 유지하는 스타트 신호를 입력받을 수 있다.
한편, 상기 복수의 다이오드 중 제1 다이오드의 애노드는, 상기 제1 클럭 신호를 입력받을 수 있다.

한편, 상기 인쇄 데이터 프로세서는 복수의 구동 신호를 생성하고 상기 잉크젯 헤드는, 상기 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 상기 복수의 구동 신호 개수 단위로 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 구동되고, 순차적으로 구동되는 복수의 노즐 각각은 입력되는 복수의 구동 신호 중 대응되는 구동 신호에 따라 잉크를 토출할 수 있다.
이 경우, 상기 복수의 구동 신호는 서로 다른 색에 대한 구동 신호일 수 있다.
한편, 상기 복수의 구동 신호는 하나의 색에 대한 구동 신호일 수 있다.
한편, 본 화상형성장치는 상기 잉크젯 헤드를 인쇄용지상에서 이동시키는 구동부를 더 포함할 수 있다.

이하에서는 도면을 참조하여 다양한 실시예들을 상세히 설명한다. 이하에서 설명되는 실시예들은 여러 가지 상이한 형태로 변형되어 실시될 수도 있다. 실시예들의 특징을 보다 명확히 설명하기 위하여 이하의 실시 예들이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 널리 알려져 있는 사항들에 관해서 자세한 설명은 생략한다.
한편, 본 명세서에서 어떤 구성이 다른 구성과 "연결"되어 있다고 할 때, 이는 ‘직접적으로 연결’되어 있는 경우뿐 아니라, ‘그 중간에 다른 구성을 사이에 두고 연결’되어 있는 경우도 포함한다. 또한, 어떤 구성이 다른 구성을 "포함"한다고 할 때, 이는 특별히 반대되는 기재가 없는 한, 그 외 다른 구성을 제외하는 것이 아니라 다른 구성들 더 포함할 수도 있다는 것을 의미한다.
본 명세서에서 “화상 형성 작업(image forming job)”이란 화상의 형성 또는 화상 파일의 생성/저장/전송 등과 같이 화상과 관련된 다양한 작업들(e.g. 인쇄, 스캔 또는 팩스)을 의미할 수 있으며, “작업(job)”이란 화상 형성 작업을 의미할 뿐 아니라, 화상 형성 작업의 수행을 위해서 필요한 일련의 프로세스들을 모두 포함하는 의미일 수 있다.
또한, “화상형성장치”란 컴퓨터와 같은 단말장치에서 생성된 인쇄 데이터를 기록 용지에 인쇄하는 장치를 말한다. 이러한 화상형성장치의 예로는 복사기, 프린터, 팩시밀리 또는 이들의 기능을 하나의 장치를 통해 복합적으로 구현하는 복합기(multi-function printer, MFP)등을 들 수 있다. 프린터(printer), 스캐너(scanner), 팩스기(fax machine), 복합기(multi-function printer, MFP) 또는 디스플레이 장치 등과 같이 화상 형성 작업을 수행할 수 있는 모든 장치들을 의미할 수 있다.
또한, “하드 카피(hard copy)”란 종이 등과 같은 인쇄 매체에 화상을 출력하는 동작을 의미하며, “소프트 카피(soft copy)”란 TV 또는 모니터 등과 같은 디스플레이 장치에 화상을 출력하는 동작을 의미할 수 있다.
또한, “컨텐츠”란 사진, 이미지 또는 문서 파일 등과 같이 화상 형성 작업의 대상이 되는 모든 종류의 데이터를 의미할 수 있다.
또한, “인쇄 데이터”란 프린터에서 인쇄 가능한 포맷으로 변환된 데이터를 의미할 수 있다. 한편, 프린터가 다이렉트 프린팅을 지원한다면, 파일 그 자체가 인쇄 데이터가 될 수 있다.
또한, “사용자”란 화상형성장치를 이용하여, 또는 화상형성장치와 유무선으로 연결된 디바이스를 이용하여 화상 형성 작업과 관련된 조작을 수행하는 사람을 의미할 수 있다. 또한, “관리자”란 화상형성장치의 모든 기능 및 시스템에 접근할 수 있는 권한을 갖는 사람을 의미할 수 있다. “관리자”와 “사용자”는 동일한 사람일 수도 있다.
도 1은 본 개시의 일 실시 예에 따른 화상형성장치의 간단한 구성을 나타내는 블록도이다.
도 1을 참조하면, 화상형성장치(100)는 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210) 및 잉크젯 헤드(300)로 구성될 수 있다.
인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 복수의 노즐을 순차적으로 구동시키기 위한 복수의 클럭 신호를 생성하고, 복수의 노즐의 구동 순서 및 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 시리얼 형태의 구동 신호를 생성한다. 여기서 복수의 클럭 신호는 기설정된 제1 주기(또는 주파수)로 신호 값이 가변되는 제2 클럭 신호와 제2 클럭 신호의 값이 유지되는 구간에서 신호 값이 천이되는 제1 클럭 신호를 포함할 수 있다. 구체적인 제1 클럭 신호와 제2 클럭 신호의 형태에 대해서는 도 6을 참조하여 후술한다.
한편, 후술할 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 복수개로 구성되거나, 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 컬러 잉크젯이거나, 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 복수의 노즐이 동시에 구동되는 형태로 구현되는 경우, 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 복수의 구동 신호를 생성할 수 있다. 여기서, 구동 신호는 영상 데이터에 대응되는 이진 데이터 값에 대한 시리얼 신호이다.
그리고 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 스타트 신호를 생성할 수 있다. 여기서 스타트 신호는 제2 클럭 신호의 첫 번째 천이 과정에서 신호가 하이 값을 갖다가 기설정된 시간 이후에 로우 값을 유지하는 신호이다. 이러한 형태에 대해서도 도 6을 참조하여 후술한다.
그리고 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 생성된 복수의 클럭 신호 및 구동 신호를 잉크젯 헤드(300)에 제공한다. 한편, 잉크젯 헤드가 복수개로 구현되는 경우, 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 각 잉크젯 헤드에 대응되는 구동 신호를 개별적으로 제공하고, 복수의 클럭 신호를 공통으로 제공할 수 있다.
이러한 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 상술한 바와 같은 클럭 신호 및 구동 신호만의 생성을 위한 전용의 DSP, ASIC과 같은 장치로 구현될 수 있다. 한편, 구현시에는 후술할 프로세서(150)가 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)의 기능을 함께 수행할 수도 있다.
잉크젯 헤드(300)는 복수의 노즐을 이용하여 화상을 형성한다. 구체적으로, 잉크젯 헤드(300)는 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 구동되고, 순차적으로 구동되는 복수의 노즐 각각은 구동시에 입력되는 구동 신호에 따라 잉크를 도출한다. 이러한 잉크젯 헤드(300)는 하나의 실리콘 기판을 통하여 구현될 수 있으며, 잉크젯 헤드(300)의 구체적인 구성 및 동작에 대해서는 도 4를 참조하여 후술한다.
이러한 잉크젯 헤드(300)는 인쇄용지의 하나의 폭 길이에 대응되는 길이를 갖거나 기설정된 길이(예를 들어, 0.5인치)를 가질 수 있다. 또는 기설정된 길이의 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 복수개 구비될 수도 있다.
이상과 같이 본 실시 예에 따른 화상형성장치(100)는 노즐을 순차적으로 구동하는바 별도의 드라이버 어레이 및 파워 트랜지스터를 구현하기 위한 CMOS 공정이 불필요한바, 잉크젯 헤더의 크기를 줄일 수 있으며, 또한 낮은 비용으로 프린터 헤드를 구현하는 것이 가능한 효과가 있다.
한편, 이상에서는 화상형성장치를 구성하는 간단한 구성에 대해서만 도시하고 설명하였지만, 구현시에는 다양한 구성이 추가로 구비될 수 있다. 이에 대해서는 도 2를 참조하여 이하에서 설명한다.
도 2는 본 개시의 일 실시 예에 따른 화상형성장치의 구체적인 구성을 나타내는 블록도이다.
도 2를 참조하면, 화상형성장치(100)는 통신부(110), 디스플레이부(120), 조작 입력부(130), 저장부(140), 화상 형성부(200) 및 프로세서(150)로 구성될 수 있다.
통신부(110)는 모바일 기기(Smart Phone, Tablet PC), PC, 노트북 PC, PDA, 디지털 카메라 등의 단말장치(미도시)와 연결되며, 단말장치(미도시)로부터 파일 및 인쇄 데이터를 수신할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 통신부(110)는 화상형성장치(100)를 외부 장치와 연결하기 위해 형성되고, 근거리 통신망(LAN: Local Area Network) 및 인터넷망을 통해 단말장치에 접속되는 형태뿐만 아니라, USB(Universal Serial Bus) 포트 또는 무선 통신(예를 들어, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth) 포트를 통하여 접속되는 형태도 가능하다.
디스플레이부(120)는 화상형성장치(100)에서 제공하는 각종 정보를 표시한다. 구체적으로, 디스플레이부(120)는 화상형성장치(100)가 제공하는 각종 기능을 선택받기 위한 사용자 인터페이스 창을 표시할 수 있다. 이러한 디스플레이부(120)는 LCD, CRT, OLED 등과 같은 모니터일 수 있으며, 후술할 조작 입력부(130)의 기능을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 터치 스크린으로 구현될 수도 있다.
그리고 디스플레이부(120)는 화상형성장치(100)의 기능 수행을 위한 제어 메뉴를 표시할 수 있다.
조작 입력부(130)는 사용자로부터 기능 선택 및 해당 기능에 대한 제어 명령을 입력받을 수 있다. 여기서 기능은 인쇄 기능, 복사 기능, 스캔 기능, 팩스 전송 기능 등을 포함할 수 있다. 이와 같은 조작 입력부(130)는 디스플레이부(120)에 표시되는 제어 메뉴를 통하여 입력받을 수 있다.
이러한 조작 입력부(130)는 복수의 버튼, 키보드, 마우스 등으로 구현될 수 있으며, 상술한 디스플레이부(120)의 기능을 동시에 수행할 수 있는 터치 스크린으로도 구현될 수도 있다.
저장부(140)는 통신부(110)를 통하여 수신된 인쇄 데이터를 저장할 수 있다. 이러한, 저장부(140)는 화상형성장치(100) 내의 저장매체 및 외부 저장매체, 예를 들어 USB 메모리를 포함한 Removable Disk, 호스트(Host)에 연결된 저장매체, 네트워크를 통한 웹서버(Web server) 등으로 구현될 수 있다.
화상 형성부(200)는 인쇄 데이터를 인쇄할 수 있다. 이러한 화상 형성부(200)는 잉크젯 방식에 의하여 기록매체에 화상을 형성할 수 있다. 이러한 화상 형성부(200)의 구체적인 구성에 대해서는 도 3을 참조하여 후술한다.
프로세서(150)는 화상형성장치(100) 내의 각 구성을 제어한다. 구체적으로, 프로세서(150)는 CPU, ASIC 등으로 구현될 수 있으며, 화상형성장치(100)의 동작 상태를 판단한다. 예를 들어, 화상형성장치(100)가 초기 온 되거나, 인쇄 작업이 곧 시작될 상태(예를 들어, 사용자가 조작 입력부를 제어하거나, 인쇄 데이터를 수신한 경우)인 것으로 판단되면, 프로세서(150)는 화상형성장치(100)의 동작 상태를 준비 상태(또는 레디 상태)로 판단할 수 있다. 이때, 프로세서(150)는 잉크젯 헤드(300)의 상태가 셋업 되도록 하는 코먼 데이터(common data)를 화상 형성부(200)에 전송할 수 있다.
그리고 프로세서(150)는 외부로부터 인쇄 데이터를 수신하면, 인쇄 데이터에 대한 파싱 및 렌더링 등을 수행하여 이진 데이터를 생성하고, 생성된 이진 데이터를 인쇄하도록 화상 형성부(200)를 제어할 수 있다.
한편, 도 1 및 도 2를 설명함에 있어서, 프로세서(150)와 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)가 별도의 구성인 것으로 도시하고 설명하였지만, 구현시에 프로세서(150)와 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 하나의 구성으로 구현될 수도 있다.
또한, 도 1 및 도 2에는 화상형성장치(100)의 일반적인 기능만을 도시하고 설명하였지만, 상술한 구성뿐만 아니라, 화상형성장치(100)가 지원하는 기능에 따라 스캔 기능을 수행하는 스캔부, 팩스 송수신 기능을 수행하는 팩스 송수신부 등을 더 포함할 수도 있다.
도 3은 도 2의 화상 형성부의 구체적인 구성을 도시한 도면이다.
도 3을 참조하면, 화상 형성부(200)는 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210), 구동부(220) 및 잉크젯 헤드(300)로 구성될 수 있다.
인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 프로세서(150)로부터 수신된 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 이진 데이터를 수신하고, 수신된 이진 데이터에 따른 시리얼 형태의 구동 신호를 생성한다. 만약 화상 형성부(200)가 컬러 인쇄가 가능한 경우, 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 구비된 색상별 복수의 구동 신호를 생성할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 블랙(Black) 색상에 대응되는 제1 구동 신호, 사이언(cyan) 색상에 대응되는 제2 구동 신호, 마젠타(magenta) 색상에 대응되는 제3 구동신호, 노란색(Yellow)에 대응되는 제4 구동 신호를 생성할 수 있다.
또한, 흑백 인쇄를 수행하는 경우라도, 빠른 인쇄를 위하여 잉크젯 헤드가 복수개 구비되는 경우, 또는 도 14에 도시된 바와 같이 하나의 잉크젯 헤드가 두 개의 노즐이 동시에 구동되는 형태로 구현되는 경우, 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 복수의 구동 신호를 생성할 수 있다.
그리고 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 잉크젯 헤드(300) 내의 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 동작시키기 위한 복수의 클럭 신호를 생성할 수 있다. 또한, 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 도 5과 같은 실시 형태로 구현되는 경우, 스타트 신호를 생성할 수도 있다.
그리고 인쇄 제어 프로세서(210)는 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 인쇄 용지상에서 이동시키는 구동부(220)를 제어한다.
구동부(220)는 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 인쇄용지 상에서 이동하도록 인쇄용지를 부주사 방향으로 이동시킬 수 있다. 또한, 구동부(200)는 잉크젯 헤드(300)가 주주사 방향으로 이동될 수 있도록 잉크젯 헤드(300)를 좌우로 이동시킬 수 있다. 한편, 잉크젯 헤드(300)의 너비가 기설정된 길이(인쇄 용지의 폭과 갖거나 인쇄 폭에서 마진폭을 뺀 길이)를 갖거나 복수의 잉크젯 헤드의 총 너비가 기설정된 길이를 갖는다면 잉크젯 헤드(300)를 좌우로 이동시키는 기능은 생략될 수 있다.
잉크젯 헤드(300)는 복수의 노즐 각각에서 잉크를 토출하여 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 화상을 형성한다. 이러한 잉크젯 헤드(300)의 구체적인 구성 및 동작에 대해서는 도 4를 참조하여 이하에서 설명한다.
도 4는 본 개시의 일 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 구성을 나타내는 블록도이다.
도 4를 참조하면, 잉크젯 헤드(300)는 제1 스위치부(310), 제2 스위치부(320) 및 액추에이터부(330)로 구성될 수 있다.
제1 스위치부(310)는 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 구동될 액추에이터를 순차적으로 선택한다. 구체적으로, 제1 스위치부(310)는 순차적으로 동작하는 복수의 제1 스위치 소자로 구성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 모든 제1 스위치 소자가 턴-오프 상태에서 제1 클럭 신호 및 제2 클럭 신호의 신호 값 변화에 따라 순차적으로 첫 번째 제1 스위치 소자만 턴-온되었다가 턴-오프되고, 이후에 두 번째 제1 스위치 소자만 턴-온되었다가 턴-오프되고, 이후에 연속적으로 제1 스위치 소자가 순차적으로 턴온/턴오프될 수 있다. 이러한 동작을 자기순차구동(self sequential driving) 기능이라고 하며, 제1 스위치부(310)는 shift register array로 구현될 수 있다. 제1 스위치부(310)의 구체적인 회로 형태에 대해서는 도 5을 참조하여 후술한다.
제2 스위치부(320)는 구동 신호에 따라 선택된 액추에이터에 구동 전원을 선택적으로 제공한다. 구체적으로, 제2 스위치부(320)는 복수의 제1 스위치 소자에 연동하여 동작하는 복수의 제2 스위치 소자로 구성될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 첫 번째 제1 스위치가 턴-온되면 이에 대응되는 첫 번째 제2 스위치 소자 역시 턴-온 가능하게 되고, 이때 액추에이터를 구동시키는 구동 신호가 입력되면 구동 전원을 첫 번째 액추에이터에 제공할 수 있다. 만약, 제2 스위치 소자가 턴-온 가능한 시점에 액추에이터를 구동시키지 않는 구동 신호가 입력된다면 구동 전원을 첫 번째 액추에이터에 제공하지 않을 수 있다.
액추에이터부(330)는 복수의 노즐 각각에 잉크를 토출되도록 하는 복수의 액추에이터를 포함할 수 있다. 이러한 액추에이터는 구동 전원을 열로 변환하여 챔버 내의 잉크를 노즐로 토출하는 열적 잉크젯 방식의 액추에이터일 수 있으며, 구동 전원을 기계적 변위로 변환하여 챔버 내의 잉크를 노즐로 토출하는 압전 잉크젯 방식의 액추에이터일 수 있다. 열적 잉크젯 방식의 액추에이터의 구체적인 형상에 대해서는 도 13을 참조하여 후술한다.
이상과 같이 본 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤드(300)는 노즐을 순차적으로 구동하는바 별도의 드라이버 어레이 및 파워 트랜지스터를 구현하기 위한 CMOS 공정이 불필요한바, 잉크젯 헤더의 크기를 줄일 수 있으며, 또한 낮은 비용으로 프린터 헤드를 구현하는 것이 가능한 효과가 있다.
도 5는 본 개시의 제1 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 등가 회로도이다.
도 5를 참조하면, 잉크젯 헤더(300)는 복수의 다이오드(311-1, 311-2, 311-3, …, 311-n-1, 311-n), 복수의 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n), 전원부(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n), 복수의 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n), 복수의 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n), 복수의 저항(362, 363, 364)로 구성된다.
여기서, 복수의 다이오드(311-1, 311-2, 311-3, …, 311-n-1, 311-n), 복수의 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n), 전원부(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n)이 상술한 제1 스위치부(310)를 구성하는 등가 회로이고, 복수의 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n)가 상술한 제2 스위치부(320)를 구성하는 등가 회로이고, 복수의 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n)이 상술한 액추에이터(330)에 대응되는 등가회로이다.
복수의 다이오드(311-1, 311-2, 311-3, …, 311-n-1, 311-n)는 직렬 형태로 연결된다. 구체적으로, 첫 번째 다이오드(311-1)의 애노드(anode)는 스타트 신호를 입력받으며, 첫 번째 다이오드(311-1)의 캐소드(cathode)는 두 번째 다이오드(311-2)의 애노드에 연결되며, 이러한 순서로 반복적으로 다이오드가 연결되며, 마지막 다이오드(311-n)의 캐소드는 저항(350-n)을 통하여 제1 전원을 입력받는다.
그리고 두 다이오드 사이의 노드 각각은 대응되는 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n)의 게이트, 대응되는 저항(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n)의 일단 및 대응되는 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n)의 게이트에 공통 연결될 수 있다.
복수의 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n) 각각은 게이트에 대응되는 두 다이오드 사이의 노드(또는 대응되는 다이오드의 캐소드), 대응되는 저항(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n)의 일단 및 대응되는 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n)의 게이트에 공통 연결되며, 애노드에 제2 전원이 연결되고, 캐소드에 제1 클럭 신호 또는 제2 클럭 신호를 입력받는다. 구체적으로, 짝수번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 캐소드는 제1 클럭 신호를 입력받고, 홀수번째 제1 사이리스터(313-2)의 캐소드는 제2 클럭 신호를 입력받을 수 있다. 여기서 제2 전원은 상술한 제1 전원과 다른 레벨의 전원 크기를 갖는다.
전원부는 일 단이 대응되는 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n)의 게이트에 연결되고, 타 단이 기설정된 제1 전원에 연결되는 복수의 저항(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n)으로 구성된다.
복수의 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n) 각각은 게이트에 대응되는 두 다이오드 사이의 노드(또는 대응되는 다이오드의 캐소드), 대응되는 저항(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n)의 일단 및 대응되는 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n)의 게이트에 공통 연결되며, 애노드에 제2 전원이 연결되고, 캐소드에 대응되는 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n)의 일 단이 연결된다. 여기서, 제2 사이리스터에도 제1 사이리스터에 공통되는 제2 전원이 입력되는 것으로 도시하고 설명하였지만, 구현시에는 제1 사이리스터와 제2 사이리스터 각각에 다른 전원이 입력되도록 할 수도 있다.
복수의 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n) 각각은 일 단이 대응되는 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n)의 애노드에 연결되고, 타 단이 저항(364)을 통하여 구동 신호를 입력받는다. 이러한 구동 신호는 비디오 신호라고 지칭될 수 있다.
이하에서는 도 6의 타이밍도를 참조하여, 상술한 잉크젯 헤더(300)의 동작을 설명한다.
도 6은 제1 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더를 제어하기 위한 타이밍도이다.
도 6을 참조하면, 스타트 신호(ΦS), 제1 클럭 신호(Φ1), 제2 클럭 신호(Φ2), 구동 신호(ΦI)가 도시된다.
여기서 스타트 신호(ΦS)는 첫 번째 사이리스터(313-1)를 구동시키기 위한 신호로, 로우 값을 유지하다가 제2 클럭 신호의 첫 번째 천이 과정에서 하이 값으로 천이되고, 구동 신호의 첫 번째 천이 과정에서 로우 값으로 천이되어 로우 값을 유지된다. 구체적으로, 스타트 신호(ΦS)는 상술한 바와 같이 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)를 구동시키기 위한 신호인바 제2 클럭 신호의 천이에 대응되게 하이 값(예를 들어, 0V)이 되었다가 바로 로우 값(예를 들어, -3.3V)으로 천이되며, 그 이후에는 변화가 되지 않는다.
제1 클럭 신호(Φ1)는 기설정된 주기로 신호 값이 가변하는 클럭 신호이다. 이러한 제1 클럭 신호(Φ1)는 도시된 바와 같이 제2 클럭 신호(Φ2)와 상반되게 교번적으로 동작한다. 다만, 두 클럭 신호(Φ1, Φ2)는 도시된 바와 같이 일정 구간 상태값이 동일한 구간을 갖는다.
제2 클럭 신호(Φ2)는 기설정된 주기로 신호 값이 가변하는 클럭 신호로, 상술한 바와 같이 일정 구간 상태 값이 제1 클럭 신호(Φ1)와 동일한 구간을 갖기 위하여, 제1 클럭 신호의 신호 값이 유지되는 구간에서 신호값이 천이된다.
구동 신호(ΦI)는 제1 클럭 신호 및 제2 클럭 신호에 동기화되며, 잉크 토출이 필요한 시점에 로우 값이 되었다가 하이 값이 된다. 도시된 예에서는 모든 구간에 신호 천이가 이루어지는 것으로 도시하였지만, 토너 토출이 필요한 노즐에서는 신호 값이 하이 값으로 유지될 수 있다.
한편, 구동 신호(ΦI)가 로우 값을 유지하는 시간(tw) 동안 토너 토출이 수행되는데, 로우 값을 유지하는 시간은 인쇄 속도 및 잉크 가열 시간을 고려하여 결정될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 빠른 인쇄 속도를 위하여 상술한 시간(Tw)는 1usec이하일 수 있다.
한편, 도 6을 설명함에 있어서, 클럭 신호 및 구동 신호는 초기에 하이 값을 유지하고, 스타트 신호는 로우 값을 유지하는 것으로 도시하고 설명하였지만, 도 5의 PNPN 타입의 사이리스터 대신에 NPNP 타입의 사이리스터가 이용되는 경우, 상술한 도 6의 클럭 신호 및 구동 신호의 파형도는 그에 맞춰 변경될 수 있다.
이하에서는 상술한 도 6의 파형도 및 도 5의 등가 회로도를 이용하여 복수의 노즐을 순차적으로 구동하는 방식에 대해서 자세히 설명한다.
우선 제1 전원(Vga)은 로우 값(예를 들어, -3.3V)이 입력되고, 제2 전원(제1 사이리스터의 애노드 전원)은 하이 값(예를 들어, 0V)이 입력되고, 클럭 신호 및 구동 신호 각각의 동일한 하이 값(예를 들어, 0V), 로우 값(-3.3)을 갖는 것으로 가정한다.
먼저, 초기 상태에서 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 게이트에는 제1 전원(Vga)이 인가되는바, 제1 사이리스터(313-1)는 턴-오프 상태이다.
이후에, 제1 스타트 신호(ΦS)가 로우 값에서 하이 값으로 천이 되면, 제1 다이오드(311-1)는 턴-온되고, 그에 따라 제1 다이오드(311-1)의 캐소드 전압은 대략 -2V~-2.7V가 된다. 그리고 제1 다이오드(311-1)의 캐소드와 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 게이트는 연결되어 있는바, 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 문턱 전압은 낮아지게 된다. 이하에서는 설명을 용이하게 하기 위하여, 사이리스터의 게이트의 전압 인가에 따라 문턱 전압이 낮아진 상태를 턴-온 가능한 상태라고 지칭한다.
이와 같이 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)가 턴-온 가능한 상태가 될 때, 제2 클럭 신호(Φ2)가 로우 값에서 하이 값으로 천이되는 바, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)는 전류를 통과시키는 턴-온 상태가 된다.
한편, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 게이트와 첫 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-1)는 동일한 게이트에 연결되어 있는바, 첫 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-1) 역시 턴-온 가능한 상태가 된다.
따라서, 첫 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-1)가 턴-온 가능한 상태에서 구동 신호가 로우 값으로 천이가 되면, 제2 사이리스터(323-1) 역시 턴-온되고 첫 번째 액추에이터(331-1)에 전류를 공급하게 되고, 그에 따라 첫 번째 액추에이터(331-1)는 잉크를 토출하게 된다. 이후에 구동 신호가 로우 값에서 하이 값으로 천이되면, 첫 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-1)의 애노드와 캐소드의 전위 값이 동일해 지고, 그에 따라 첫 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-1)는 턴-오프된다.
한편, 사이리스터는 턴-온되면, 애노드와 게이트의 전위는 동일하게 된다. 따라서, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(311-1)가 턴-온되면, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(311-1)의 게이트는 하이 값을 갖게 되며, 그에 따라, 두 번째 제1 사이리스터(311-2)의 상태는 스타트 신호가 입력되었을 때의 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(311-1)의 상태와 동일하게 된다.
다만, 제1 클럭 신호가 로우 값으로 천이 되기 전까지, 두 번째 제1 사이리스터(311-2)는 턴-온 가능한 상태가 될 뿐, 턴-오프 상태를 유지한다.
이후의 시간에서 제1 클럭 신호(Φ2)의 전위가 로우 값으로 천이되면, 두 번째 사이리스터(311-2)는 턴-온된다. 그 이후에 제2 클럭 신호(Φ1)의 전위가 하이 값으로 천이되면, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 애노드와 캐소드의 전위가 갖아지게 되어 첫번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)는 턴-오프된다.
이와 같이 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)는 턴-오프되고, 두 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-2)가 턴-온된 상태에서 구동 신호가 변화하게 되면, 두 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-2)에 연동된 두 번째 제2 사이리스터(313-2)는 턴-온되어 두 번째 액추에이터(331-2)에 전류를 공급하게 된다. 만약, 두 번째 제2 사이리스터(323-2)가 턴-온 가능한 상태에서 구동 신호의 변화가 없다면, 두 번째 액추에이터(331-2)는 잉크 토출을 수행하지 않게 된다.
이와 같은 과정이 반복적으로 수행되어 n 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-n)까지 선택 과정이 수행되면, 하나의 사이클이 완료되게 된다. 그리고 상술한 사이클을 반복적으로 수행함으로써 인쇄 데이터에 대한 인쇄를 수행하게 된다.
상술한 바와 같이 잉크젯 헤더(300)는 저항, 다이오드, 사이리스터로 구성되는바, 하나의 반도체 소자로 구현될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 실리콘 기판 상에 P 타입 레이어, N 타입 레이어, P 타입 레이어 및 N 타입 레이어를 연속적으로 증착하여 PNPN 타입의 사이리스터를 형성할 수 있으며, 4개의 레이어 중 중간의 P 타입 레이어와 N 타입 레이어를 이용하여 다이오드를 형성할 수 있으며, 4개의 레이어 중 어느 하나를 이용하여 저항을 구현할 수도 있다.
이와 같이 제1 실시 예와 같은 잉크젯 헤더를 하나의 소자로 구현하는 경우의 단자 배치 레이아웃은 도 7과 같다.
도 7은 제1 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 기판 레이아웃이다.
도 7을 참조하면, 복수의 제1 저항 영역(350-1, 350-2, 350-3, 350-4, 361, 362, 363, 364), 복수의 액추에이터 저항 영역(331-1, 331-2, 33-3, 331-4), PN 다이오드 영역(311), PNPN 사이리스터 영역(340-1, 340-2, 340-3, 340-4)으로 구성된다.
복수의 제1 저항 영역(350-1, 350-2, 350-3, 350-4, 361, 362, 363, 364)은 4개의 어느 한 레이어에 배치될 수 있다.
복수의 액추에이터 저항 영역(331-1, 331-2, 33-3, 331-4)은 발열 층에 배치될 수 있다.
PN 다이오드 영역(311)은 PNPN로 적층되는 4층의 레이어 중 중간 단의 두 개의 레이어로 구성될 수 있다.
PNPN 사이리스터 영역(340-1, 340-2, 340-3, 340-4)은 기판상의 적층되는 NPNP 레이어로 구현될 수 있다. 이러한 PNPN 사이리스터 영역(340-1, 340-2, 340-3, 340-4)에는 상술한 제1 사이리스터와 제2 사이리스터 및 다이오드의 기능이 수행할 수 있다.
한편, 도 7을 참조하면, 본 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤드는 각 구성 간이 연속적으로 배치되어 배선이 간단하고, 외부 장치(구체적으로, 인쇄 데이터 프로세서)와의 연결 위하여 5개의 단자만이 필요한바, 잉크젯 헤드의 배치 면적을 크게 줄일 수 있다.
한편, 도시된 예에서는 두 번째 이하의 다이오드 구성에 대응되는 레이아웃은 도시되지 않았으나, 상술한 바와 같이 다이오드는 사이리스터 영역의 중간의 두 개층으로 구성될 수 있는바, PNPN 사이리스터 영역(340-1, 340-2, 340-3, 340-4) 영역 내에 배치될 수 있다.
도 8은 본 개시의 제2 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 회로도이다.
구체적으로, 제2 실시 예는 별도의 스타트 신호의 이용 없이, 첫 번째 사이리스터의 구동을 제1 클럭 신호를 이용하는 실시예이다.
도 8을 참조하면, 잉크젯 헤더(300')는 복수의 다이오드(311-1, 311-2, 311-3, …, 311-n-1, 311-n), 복수의 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n), 전원부(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n), 복수의 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n), 복수의 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n), 복수의 저항(362, 363, 364)로 구성된다.
여기서, 복수의 제1 사이리스터(313-1, 313-2, …, 313-n-1, 313-n), 전원부(350-1, 350-2, …, 350-n-1, 350-n), 복수의 제2 사이리스터(323-1, 323-2, …, 323-n-1, 323-n), 복수의 액추에이터 저항(331-1, 331-2, …, 331-n-1, 331-n), 복수의 저항(362, 363, 364)은 도 5의 제1 실시 형태와 동일한 배치 구조를 갖는바 중복 설명은 생략한다.
복수의 다이오드(311-1, 311-2, 311-3, …, 311-n-1, 311-n)는 직렬 형태로 연결된다. 연결 형태는 도 5의 제1 실시 형태와 동일하나, 첫 번째 다이오드(311-1)의 애노드는 제1 클럭 신호를 입력받는다.
도 6을 참조하면, 제1 클럭 신호는 최초에 하이 값을 유지하고 있다. 따라서, 초기 상태에서 제1 다이오드(311-1)의 캐소드 전압은 대략 -2~2.7V가 되고, 그에 따라 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)의 문턱 전압은 낮아지게 되어, 턴-온 가능한 상태가 된다.
이와 같이 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)가 턴-온 가능한 상태가 될 때, 제2 클럭 신호(Φ2)가 로우 값에서 하이 값으로 천이되는 바, 첫 번째 제1 사이리스터(313-1)는 전류를 통과시키는 턴-온 상태가 된다.
다만, 제1 클럭 신호의 경우, 상술한 바와 같이 세 번째 사이리스터를 턴-온 하는 시점에서 다시 하이 값을 갖게 되어, 제1 다이오드(311-1)의 애노드는 하이 값을 갖게 된다. 하지만, 제3 다이오드(311-3)의 애노드가 하이 값을 갖게 됨에 따라서, 제1 다이오드는 턴-온되지 않게 된다. 이와 같은 상태는 제1 클럭 신호가 지속적으로 하이값을 갖게 되는 경우에도 동일하게 된다.
따라서, 제2 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더(300')는 별도의 스타트 신호를 이용하지 않는바, 단자 수를 줄일 수 있는 효과가 있다.
도 9는 본 개시의 제3 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 회로도이다.
구체적으로, 제3 실시 예는 별도의 스타트 신호의 이용 없이, 첫 번째 사이리스터의 구동을 구동 신호를 이용하는 실시예이다.

히터 레이어(307)는 기판(301)의 상부 영역에 배치될 수 있다. 도시된 예에서 히터 레이어(307)가 기판(301)의 상부 전체 영역에 배치되는 것으로 도시하였지만, 구현시에는 잉크 챔버에 대응되는 영역에만 배치될 수도 있다.
P 레이어(302)는 히터 레이어(307) 상부에 배치된다.
N 레이어(303)는 P 레이어(302) 상부에 배치된다.
P 레이어(304)는 N 레이어(303) 상부에 배치된다. 이러한 P 레이어(304)는 N 레이어(303)와 결합되어 PN 다이오드로 동작할 수 있다.
N 레이어(305)는 P 레이어(304) 상부에 배치된다. 상술한 4개의 레이어(302, 303, 304, 305)는 PNPN 사이리스터로 동작할 수 있다.
중간층 레이어(306)는 메탈 층과 다른 구성간을 절연한다.
패시베이션 레이어(308)는 히터 레이어(307)와 잉크 챔버 사이에 배치되어 잉크가 기판 상의 각종 레이어에 영향을 미치는 것을 방지한다.
안티 공동 레이어(309)는 잉크의 토출 과정에서 공동현상이 일어나는 것을 방지한다.
잉크 노즐(390)은 히터 레이어(307)에 전원이 인가되어 가열된 경우, 부피 팽창된 잉크를 토출하는 유로 구조이다.
한편, 제1 실시 예 내지 제5 실시 예를 설명함에 있어서, PNPN 사이리스터를 이용하는 형태를 설명하였지만, 구현시에는 NPNP 사이리스터를 이용할 수도 있다. 이 경우, 상술한 도면 상의 다이오드의 애노드와 캐소드의 배치 방향은 반대일 수 있다.
도 14는 본 개시의 제6 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더의 기판 레이아웃이다.
구체적으로, 제6 실시 예에 다른 잉크젯 헤더(300""')는 보다 빠른 동작을 위하여, 복수의 단위로 노즐을 구동시키는 실시예이다.
도 14를 참조하면, 두 개의 클럭 신호와 두 개의 구동 신호가 입력된다. 두 개의 클럭 신호는 각각 두 개의 패스로 연결되는바, 한 번에 하나의 사이리스터가 선택되는 것이 아니라, 한번에 두 개의 사이리스터가 선택되고, 그에 따라 두 개의 노즐이 동시에 잉크를 토출하게 된다.
이와 같이 제6 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더(300"')는 복수의 노즐 단위로 잉크를 토출하는 바, 제1 실시예 내지 제5 실시예보다 빠른 인쇄가 가능해 진다.
한편, 제6 실시 예를 설명함에 있어서, 두 개의 단위로 사이리스터를 구동하는 것만으로 설명하였지만, 구현시에는 세 개 이상의 단위로 사이리스터를 구동하는 형태로도 구현할 수 있다.
본 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더는 잉크를 토출 한다. 한편, 본 실시 예에 따른 잉크젯 헤더는 순차적으로 구동되기 때문에 비교적 빠른 시간(예를 들어, 1us) 내에 잉크 토출이 수행되야 한다.
따라서, 이하에서는 상술한 조건을 만족하기 위한 액추에이터의 전압값을 설명한다.
잉크는 대부분 물로 이루어져 있다. 물이 액체에서 기체로 상변화 될 때 온도에 따라 포화되는 압력은 달라지는데 섭씨 373.95도에서 최대 압력을 갖게 되고 이러한 조건에서 잉크를 토출하는 압력이 가장 강하기 때문에 일반적인 열적 액추에이터는 표면 온도를 약 1usec이내로 374 이상의 온도로 상승시킨다.
이러한 조건을 만족시키기 위하여, 상술한 액추에이터 저항에 인가되어야 하는 전원의 크기를 이하에서 설명한다.

표 1은 도 13과 같은 열적 액추에이터를 구성하기 위한 요소를 나타낸다.
도 13에서 설명한 바와 같이 열 발생에 따른 액추에이터 손상을 막기 위하여, 패시베이션 레이어, 안티-공동 레이어가 존재한다. 그리고 히터 층 밑으로 열의 손실을 방지하기 위하여 기판의 하부에는 열 베리어 층이 존재한다.
이러한 구조에서 열적 액추에이터 표면에서 버블이 발생하는 시점을 계산하고, 그에 따라 필요한 열량을 계산한다.
계산은 위의 구조를 1차원의 열전도만 존재하는 것으로 하여 시간 변화에 따른 영향(transient)로 해석한다. 이때, 필요한 에너지는 보호층(Passivation + Anti-Cavitation)의 두께에 따라 변하게 되는데, 본 계산에서는 이러한 보호층을 최소화하는 경우와 최대로 한 경우를 비교하여 필요한 에너지의 범위를 구하고자 한다.
1차원 열전도 영향(transient) 모델로 가정하고, 물의 상변화가 발생하는 시점까지 필요한 열량을 계산한다. 이때 bubble이 발생하는 thermal actuator의 표면 온도(Tt)는 아래와 같다.
물은 보통 100도 이상에서 상 변화가 일어나지만, 잉크젯 프린터에서 사용 가능한 필름 보링(film boiling)의 상변화를 얻기 위해서는 최소 230도 이상에서 상변화가 일어나야 하고, 보통 374도에서 최대 압력을 갖는다.
따라서 상변화가 발생하는 230도와 374도 각각에서 일어날 수 있는 열량을 계산하고, 보호층의 구성에 따른 열량을 계산한다. 또한, 순차 구동하는 작동 특성상 인쇄 속도를 확보하기 위해서 bubble이 발생하는 시간을 1usec이하로 규정하여 필요한 열량을 계산한다.
도 15는 본 실시 예에 따른 노즐의 열 분포를 도시한 도면이다.
도 15를 참조하면, 히터 층(TaAl)에서 열이 발생할 때, 기판(si), 열적 베리어(SiO2), 패시베이션층(Si3N4), 안티 공동층(Ta), 그리고 잉크에서의 열 분포를 도시한 도면이다.
한편, 액추에이터의 저항을 R이라고 하면, 이때 제2 사이리스터에 적용되는 전위차는 아래와 같은 수학식으로 정리할 수 있다.
따라서, 구현시에는 상술한 수학식 2 범위를 만족하는 전위차의 제2 전원을 사이리스터에 인가할 수 있다.
이상에서는 본 개시의 바람직한 실시예에 대해서 도시하고, 설명하였으나, 본 개시는 상술한 특정의 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며, 청구범위에서 청구하는 본 개시의 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 개시가 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진자라면 누구든지 다양한 변형 실시가 가능한 것은 물론이고, 그와 같은 변경은 청구범위 기재의 범위 내에 있게 된다.

- 복수의 노즐을 이용하여 화상을 형성하는 잉크젯 헤드; 및상기 복수의 노즐을 순차적으로 구동시키기 위한 복수의 클럭 신호와 상기 복수의 노즐의 구동 순서 및 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 시리얼 형태의 구동 신호를 생성하는 인쇄 데이터 프로세서;를 포함하고,상기 잉크젯 헤드는,상기 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 상기 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 구동되고, 순차적으로 구동되는 복수의 노즐 각각은 구동시에 입력되는 상기 구동 신호에 따라 잉크를 토출하는 화상형성장치.

- 제1항에 있어서,상기 인쇄 데이터 프로세서는,복수의 구동 신호를 생성하고,상기 잉크젯 헤드는,상기 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 상기 복수의 구동 신호 개수 단위로 복수의 노즐이 순차적으로 구동되고, 순차적으로 구동되는 복수의 노즐 각각은 입력되는 복수의 구동 신호 중 대응되는 구동 신호에 따라 잉크를 토출하는 화상형성장치.
- 제12항에 있어서,상기 복수의 구동 신호는 서로 다른 색에 대한 구동 신호인 화상형성장치.
- 제12항에 있어서,상기 복수의 구동 신호는 하나의 색에 대한 구동 신호인 화상형성장치.
- 잉크가 토출되도록 하는 복수의 액추에이터;상기 복수의 액추에이터를 순차적으로 구동시키기 위한 복수의 클럭 신호에 따라 구동될 액추에이터를 순차적으로 선택하는 제1 스위치부; 및복수의 노즐의 구동 순서 및 인쇄 데이터에 대응되는 시리얼 형태의 구동 신호에 따라 상기 선택된 액추에이터에 구동 전원을 선택적으로 제공하는 제2 스위치부;를 포함하는 잉크젯 헤드.
