Definitions
- the present invention relates to a projection-type image display device.
- a projection-type image display device such as a projector includes a light source, an illumination optical system that collects light emitted from the light source to generate illumination light, a display element that generates a projected image, and a screen image.
- Unnecessary light adversely affects the quality of the projected image, for example, by being reflected on the screen, and causes a reduction in contrast. For this reason, it is important to suppress unnecessary light from entering the projection lens in order to prevent deterioration of the quality of the projected image.
- Patent Document 1 is known as a conventional technique for suppressing unnecessary light from entering a projection lens.
- Patent Document 1 describes that “unnecessary light is shielded by a semicircular, circular, elliptical, or other shielding part provided at the aperture of a diaphragm of a projection optical system”.
