Description

二次電池の劣化抑制装置および個別劣化抑制装置 関連出願
 本出願は、2016年3月22日出願の特願2016-056763の優先権を主張するものであり、その全体を参照により本願の一部をなすものとして引用する。
 この発明は、データセンタ、携帯電話基地局、若しくはその他各種の電力安定供給が求められる非常用電源、または複数のバッテリが直列に接続された電源一般で使用されて、充電時等にバッテリが劣化することを抑制する二次電池の劣化抑制装置、および個別劣化抑制装置に関する。
 データセンタおよび携帯電話基地局等では、電力の安定供給が重要であり、定常時には交流商用電源が用いられるが、交流商用電源が停止した場合の無停電電源装置として、二次電池を用いた非常用電源が装備される。非常用電源の充電方式としては、充電回路を用いて定常時に微小電流で充電するトリクル充電の形式と、整流器に対して負荷と二次電池を並列に接続し、一定電流を印加して負荷を運転させつつ充電するフロート充電の形式とがある。一般的に非常用電源にはトリクル充電の形式が多く採用されている。
 前記非常用電源は、商用電源で駆動される負荷の駆動が可能な電圧と電流が要求され、一つの二次電池(バッテリ)の電圧は低く、また容量も小さいため、複数のバッテリが直列接続されたバッテリ群を複数並列に接続した構成とされる。個々のバッテリは、鉛蓄電池やリチウムイオン電池である。
 このような非常用電源において、バッテリは劣化によって電圧が低下するため、信頼性確保のために、バッテリの劣化判定を行い、劣化したバッテリを交換しておくことが望まれる。しかし、データセンタ、携帯電話基地局等の大規模な非常用電源における多数のバッテリを精度良く劣化判定できる装置は、提案されるに至っていない。
 従来のバッテリの劣化判定の提案例としては、車載バッテリチェッカーとして、バッテリ全体を纏めて計測する提案(例えば、特許文献1)、バッテリにパルス状電圧を印加し、入力電圧と応答電圧とからバッテリ全体の内部インピーダンスを算出する提案(例えば、特許文献2)、バッテリにおける直列接続された個々のセルの内部抵抗を計測し、劣化判定する方法(例えば、特許文献3)等が提案されている。個々のセルの内部抵抗を計測には交流4端子法が用いられている。また、バッテリの内部抵抗等の非常に小さな抵抗値を計測するハンディチェッカーとして、交流4端子法バッテリテスタが商品化されている(例えば、非特許文献1)。
 前記特許文献1,2では、無線によるデータ送信も提案され、ケーブルの取り回しや手作業の削減、コンピュータによるデータ管理も提案されている。

 上記のように種々の劣化判定装置ないし判定方法が提案されている。しかし、個々のバッテリの劣化程度の差によって、充電時に、劣化の進んだ一部のバッテリの劣化を加速させてしまうと言う問題がある。これにつき具体的に説明する。
 非常用電源のバッテリは直列接続されて使用する場合がほとんどであり、フロート充電やトリクル充電で常時充電状態を維持している。バッテリが劣化すると内部抵抗が増加するため、端子間電圧が上昇する。直列接続の場合、直列接続される個数に応じて両端の充電電圧が設定されるが、個々のバッテリの端子間電圧は内部抵抗の影響でばらつきが生じる。劣化が進んだバッテリの端子間電圧は高くなり、過電圧状態となる場合がある。つまり劣化したバッテリをさらに劣化させるようになり、劣化を加速させてしまうと言う問題があった。
 なお、複数のバッテリが直列接続されたバッテリ群の両端に充電電圧を印加する場合に限らず、例えば劣化判定のための電圧計測時に、4端子法等で各電圧センサから各バッテリに個別に電圧を印加する場合にも、上記の個々のバッテリの劣化程度の差によって、劣化の進んだ一部のバッテリの劣化を加速させてしまうと言う問題が生じる。
 この発明の目的は、個々のバッテリの劣化程度の差によって、充電時等に、劣化の進んだ一部のバッテリの劣化を加速させてしまうことを防止できる二次電池の劣化抑制装置および個別劣化抑制装置を提供することである。
 以下、この発明について、理解を容易にするために、便宜上実施形態の符号を参照して説明する。
この発明の二次電池の劣化抑制装置は、それぞれ二次電池であるバッテリ2の複数が直列に接続された電源1の前記バッテリ2の劣化を抑制する二次電池の劣化抑制装置であって、
 各バッテリに接続される複数の個別劣化抑制装置7を備え、
 各個別劣化抑制装置7は、前記バッテリ2の端子間の直流電圧を計測する電圧計測部21(例えば直流電圧計測部26)と、この電圧計測部21で計測された電圧をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定する比較部31と、前記比較部31により高いと判定されると、前記バッテリ2を放電させる放電部30とを備える。
 なお、前記電圧計測部21は、例えば電圧センサを構成する部品のうち、電圧の計測に直接に係わる部分を言う。また、「しきい値と比較して高いか否か」の判断は、しきい値を超えるか否かで判断しても良く、またしきい値以上であるか否かで判断しても良い。
 この構成によると、前記比較部31は、充電時等の電圧印加時に、前記電圧計測部21で計測された直流電圧(以下、DC電圧と称する場合がある)をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定し、高いと判定されると、前記放電部30は前記バッテリ2を放電させる。バッテリ2が劣化すると内部抵抗が増加するため、端子間電圧が上昇する。このため、計測された電圧の高いバッテリ2につき放電させることで、直列接続された各バッテリ2の電圧を均等化させることができ、充電時等に、劣化の進んだ一部のバッテリ2の劣化を加速させてしまうことが防止できる。バッテリ2への電圧の印加については、バッテリ2を直列接続したバッテリ郡3の両端に充電電圧を印加する場合に限らず、例えば4端子法で抵抗計測を行う場合等のように、個々のバッテリ2に充電電圧を印加する場合も、前記放電による劣化防止の効果が得られる。前記電圧計測部21として、例えばバッテリ2の劣化判定などの場合に交流電圧の計測に用いられるものを、端子間電圧(セル電圧)である直流電圧の判定のための監視についても用いるようにすれば良い。
 なお、バッテリ2に定常電圧が2Vのセルを用いた場合、そのセルの正常範囲とされる電圧は、例えば一般的に1.8~2.23Vの範囲とされる。そのような場合、前記バッテリ2が1個のセルからなるときに、前記しきい値を、例えば上限値の2.23V、または上限値に充電電流と内部抵抗による電圧上昇分を考慮して2.23~2.4V程度に設定しておくことで、劣化したバッテリ2の判別が行える。充電中に各バッテリの相対値から劣化を判断することも可能であり、その場合は前記しきい値は、2.23V以下で前記正常範囲の中間の値としても良い。
 なお、鉛蓄電池の場合、正常範囲の上限電圧は2.23Vになる。トリクル充電の場合、常に充電しているため、この電圧に充電電流と内部抵抗による電圧が加算されるので、しきい値は2.23Vより大きくなる。また、本方式は充電中であっても、充電電流が同じとなる直列接続されたバッテリに対し、端子間電圧を監視し相対的に劣化判断することも可能なため、しきい値は2.23V以下に設定することも可能である。
 この発明において、前記放電部30は、前記バッテリ2と並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37との直列回路からなる放電回路35と、この放電回路35を制御する放電管理部22とで構成しても良い。さらに、この放電管理部22は、前記比較部31と、この比較部31により前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると前記スイッチ37をONにし、設定時間後に前記スイッチをOFFにする放電処理部32とを有する構成であっても良い。前記放電部30をこのように放電回路35とその放電管理部22とで構成し、前記放電回路35を電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37とで構成することで、電流制限抵抗36により電力を消費させてバッテリ電圧を低下させ、その電圧低下をスイッチ37による制御で調整し、簡易に前記放電を適切に行わせることができる。また、前記放電管理部22が、設定時間によって放電をOFFにする構成であるため、タイマー等による簡易な構成で適切な放電が行える。
 また、前記のように前記放電部30を構成した場合に、前記放電管理部22は、前記比較部31により前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると、前記スイッチ37をONとして前記バッテリ2と電流制限抵抗36とを接続し、このスイッチ37をONとする間に一定間隔で一時的に前記スイッチ37をOFFにして、前記電圧計測部21による電圧計測および前記比較部31による比較を再度行わせ、このとき、前記比較部31で前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも低いと判定されると前記スイッチ37のOFF状態を維持し、また前記比較部31で前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると、再度、前記スイッチ37をONとして前記一定間隔の一時的なOFF、前記電圧計測、前記比較の各過程を繰り返す放電処理部32を有する構成であっても良い。この構成の場合、放電管理部22は、放電を行う間に一定間隔で一時的に前記スイッチ37をOFFにして電圧計測を行い、計測したバッテリ電圧をしきい値と比較して放電を終了させるため、タイマーにより放電時間を制御する場合よりも精度良く、バッテリ2の放電後の電圧を得ることができる。そのため、バッテリ2の劣化防止がより一層確実となる。
 この構成の場合に、前記放電処理部32の前記各過程の繰り返しにより前記スイッチ37をONとする放電の回数を計測し、放電回数が設定値に達すると警告手段に警告を行わせる回数管理部33を有する構成としても良い。放電を多数繰り返しても適切な電圧にならない場合は、何らかの異常が発生した場合である。そのため、警告手段に警告を行わせることで、作業者による異常の認識が迅速に行え、早期の対処が可能となる。なお、「放電回数が設定値に達する」の判断は、設定値を超えるか否かで判断しても良く、また以上か否かで判断しても良い。
 この発明において、前記放電部30が、前記バッテリ2と並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37との直列回路からなる放電回路35を有する場合に、前記電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37とは、前記電圧計測部21と同一の回路基板7A上に実装されていても良い。前記電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37と、前記電圧計測部21とは、一つのチップであっても良い。同じ回路基板7A上に前記電圧計測部21と電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37とが実装させていると、この劣化抑制装置の構成がより簡素でコンパクトに構成できる。
 この発明において、前記放電部30は、前記バッテリ2と並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37との直列回路からなる放電回路35を有する場合に、この放電回路35と前記電圧計測部21の前記バッテリ2に接続される回路とは同一のケーブル38に接続されるようにしても良い。放電回路35の電流制限抵抗36およびスイッチ37をバッテリ2に接続する回路と、前記電圧計測部21をバッテリ2に接続する回路とが、同一のケーブル38に接続されることで、配線系が簡素になる。
 この発明において、前記電圧計測部21は、前記バッテリ2の端子間に印加された交流成分の電圧を計測する機能を有していても良い。前記電圧計測部21がバッテリ2に印加された交流成分の電圧を計測可能であると、その交流成分の電圧値からバッテリ2の内部抵抗が演算できる。この内部抵抗をしきい値と比較することなどで、バッテリ2の劣化の判定が行える。したがって、この二次電池の劣化抑制装置を、劣化判定装置と兼用させることができる。
 この構成の場合に、前記電圧計測部21で計測された前記交流成分の電圧を無線で送信する無線通信部を有していても良い。バッテリ2が複数直列に接続されていると、接地点から離れるバッテリ2であるほど、マイナス電位が高くなるようにバイアスが掛かるため、基準電位(グランドレベル)を考慮する必要があるが、無線で送信するようにすると、基準電位を気にする必要がない。
 この発明の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記比較部31は、前記各個別劣化抑制装置7(例えば電圧計測部21)で計測した直列接続の全バッテリ2の直流電圧の平均値を計算し、この平均値に設定された加算値を加えて前記しきい値とする構成としても良い。個々の電源によって、適正となる電圧の範囲が僅かではあるが変わる。そのため、平均値を用いることで、予めしきい値を定めておくよりも、劣化抑制対象の電源1について、より一層適正な電圧となるように放電することができ、劣化抑制がより一層確実となる。
 この発明の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記バッテリ2の複数が直列に接続されたバッテリ群3に交流成分を有する電流を印加する計測用電流印加手段9と、前記電圧計測部21で計測された前記交流成分の電圧から前記バッテリ2の内部抵抗演算する内部抵抗演算部13aと、この内部抵抗演算部13aで演算された内部抵抗から前記バッテリ2の劣化を判定する判定部13bとを備えるようにしても良い。このように、計測用電流印加手段、内部抵抗演算部13a、および判定部13bを備えることで、バッテリ2の劣化判定が精度良く行える。
 この発明の二次電池の個別劣化抑制装置7は、二次電池であるバッテリ2の劣化を抑制するであって、
 前記バッテリ2の端子間の直流電圧を計測する電圧計測部21と、この電圧計測部21で計測された電圧をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定する比較部31と、前記比較部31により高いと判定されると前記バッテリ2を放電させる放電部30とを備え、
 前記放電部30は、前記バッテリ2と並列に接続された電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37との直列回路からなる放電回路35と、この放電回路35を制御する放電管理部22とでなり、この放電管理部22は、前記比較部31と、この比較部31により高いと判定されると前記スイッチ37をONにして放電させ、定められた放電の条件が充足すると放電の処理を停止する放電処理部32とを有するようにしても良い。
 前記「定められた放電の条件が充足する」場合とは、例えば、設定時間を経過することであっても、バッテリ電圧が設定電圧より低くなることであっても良い。
 前記各構成の二次電池の劣化抑制装置は、複数の個別劣化抑制装置7で構成されているが、個別劣化抑制装置7を単独で用いても、上述のバッテリ2の劣化抑制効果を得ることができる。

 この発明の一実施形態を図1ないし図8と共に説明する。図1は、この二次電池の劣化抑制装置における個別劣化抑制装置を、劣化検出のための電圧センサ7として構成した例の概略を示す説明図である。図6は同電圧センサ7を複数備えた劣化判定装置を兼ねる劣化抑制装置の回路図である。
 図6において、劣化抑制および劣化判定の対象となる電源1は、データセンタ、携帯電話基地局、またはその他各種の電力安定供給が求められる電源装置における非常用電源である。この電源1は、それぞれ二次電池であるバッテリ2の複数が直列接続されたバッテリ群3を複数有し、これらバッテリ群3が並列に接続され負荷4に接続される。各バッテリ2は、一つのセルであっても、また複数のセルが直列接続されたバッテリであっても良いが、この例では一つのセルからなる。
 この非常用の電源1は、負荷4の正負の端子に接続された主電源5の正負の端子5A,5Bのうち、正の端子5Aには充電回路6とダイオード15とを介して接続され、負の端子5Bには直接に接続されている。ダイオード15は非常用の電源1から負荷4に電流を流す向きで、充電回路6と並列に接続されている。主電源5は、例えば交流商用電源に整流回路および平滑回路(いずれも図示せず)介して接続されて直流電力に変換する直流電源等からなる。
 非常用の電源1の正電位は、主電源5の正電位よりも低く、通常は負荷4には流れないが、主電源5が停止または機能低下すると、主電源5側の電位が低下することから、非常用の電源1に蓄電した電荷により、ダイオード15を介して負荷4に給電される。なお、上記のように充電回路6を接続した充電形式は、トリクル充電形式と呼ばれる。
 この二次電池の劣化抑制装置は、このような電源1における各バッテリ2が充電時に劣化することを抑制する装置であり、劣化判定のための電圧センサ7に構成されている。電圧センサ7は、各バッテリ2に個別に接続されて複数備えられる。
 この劣化抑制装置を備える二次電池の劣化判定装置は、前記複数の電圧センサ7の他に、バッテリ群3毎に接続された複数の電流センサ8と、交流成分を含む計測用電流を前記バッテリ群3に印加する計測用電流印加手段9と、電圧センサ7毎に設けられ計測した交流成分の電圧の計測値を無線で送信する無線通信部24と、前記各無線通信部24の送信した前記計測値を受信し、この受信した計測値を用いて各バッテリ2の内部抵抗を算出し、内部抵抗から前記バッテリ2の劣化を判定するコントローラ11とを備える。このコントローラ11は、この例では、主コントローラ11Aとデータサーバ13とで構成されている。
 コントローラ11またはその内部の構成要素は、具体的には、ソフトウエアやハードウエアで実現されたLUT(Look Up Table)、またはソフトウエアのライブラリ(Library)に収められた所定の変換関数やそれに等価のハードウエア等、また必要に応じて、ライブラリの比較関数や四則演算関数やそれらに等価のハードウエア等(以下、「具現化モデル」という。)を用いて、演算を行って結果を出力しうるハードウエア回路またはプロセッサ(不図示)上のソフトウエア関数で構成されている。
 前記計測用電流印加手段9は、電源1のバッテリ群3に所定の電流を印加するための、放電装置または充電装置からなる。計測用電流印加手段9は、バッテリ群3の正負の端子端に接続され、パルス状ないし正弦波状に変化する交流成分を有する電流、例えばリップル電流を電源1に与える。
 前記個別劣化抑制装置を兼用する電圧センサ7につき、図1および図2と共に説明する。この電圧センサ7は、計測・制御部20と、放電回路35とを有する。前記計測・制御部20に、バッテリ2の電圧を計測する電圧計測部21と、計測された電圧に応じて放電回路35を制御する放電管理部22とが設けられ、この放電管理部22と放電回路35とで放電部30が構成される。前記電圧計測部21は、電圧センサ7を構成する部分のうちの、電圧の計測に直接に係わる部分、あるいは電圧計測に必須の部分を言い、付加的な構成を除いた部分である。なお、前記電圧計測部21を電圧センサと称し、前記電圧センサ7をセンサユニット7と称しても良い。
 放電回路35は、電流制限抵抗36とスイッチ37との直列回路からなり、バッテリ2に並列に接続されている。前記電流制限抵抗36は、ブリーダ抵抗とも呼ばれる。前記スイッチ37は、トランジスタ等の半導体スイッチング素子からなる。前記電圧計測部21を有する前記計測・制御部20は、劣化判定対象のバッテリ2の電力により駆動されるが、この計測・制御部20にバッテリ2から給電する回路は、前記放電回路35を構成する回路と同一の正負のケーブル38に接続される。
 前記計測・制御部20は、具体的には図2に示すように、前記電圧計測部21と、演算制御部23と、無線通信部24とで構成される。前記演算制御部23は、マイクロコンピュータ等の演算処理装置で構成される。
 演算制御部23またはその内部の構成要素は、具体的には、上記具現化モデルを用いて、演算を行って結果を出力しうるハードウエア回路またはプロセッサ(不図示)上のソフトウエア関数で構成されている。
 前記電圧計測部21は、バッテリ2の端子間に作用する交流成分の電圧(AC電圧)を計測する機能と、直流成分の電圧(DC電圧)を計測する機能とを備え、そのAC電圧を計測する機能を持つ部分を交流電圧計測部25、DC電圧を計測する機能を持つ部分を直流電圧計測部26として示す。交流電圧計測部25は、バッテリ2の劣化判定のために用いられ、直流電圧計測部26は劣化抑制および劣化判定のために用いられる。
 前記演算制御部23は、前記放電管理部22と、制御部27と、遅延部28と、変換部29とを有する。制御部27、遅延部28、および変換部29は、劣化判定に用いられる手段であり、後に説明する。放電管理部22は、前記電圧計測部21で計測されたバッテリ2の直流電圧をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定する比較部31と、この比較部31により前記計測された(直流)電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると前記バッテリ2を放電させる放電処理部32と、回数管理部33とを有する。前記回数管理部33は、前記放電処理部32の放電の繰り返し回数を計測し、放電回数が設定値を超えると警告手段に警告を行わせる手段である。
 上記構成の劣化抑制装置による劣化抑制する動作例を、図4、図5にそれぞれ流れ図で示す。劣化判定については、後に図6~8と共に説明する。図4の例では、ステップQ2が前記比較部31により実行され、ステップQ3~Q6が前記放電処理部32により実行され、ステップQ7~Q9が前記回数管理部33により実行される。
 図4においてステップQ1では、電圧センサ7の電圧計測部21によってバッテリ2のDC電圧を計測する。前記放電管理部22(図1,図2)の比較部31(図2,図4)は、計測されたDC電圧を、予め設定したしきい値と比較し(ステップQ2)、計測されたDC電圧がしきい値よりも低い場合は処理を終了する。前記しきい値は、例えばバッテリ2の電圧の正常範囲の上限として定められる値であり、しきい値よりも低い場合はバッテリ2が正常であると想定できるため、放電処理を行わずに終了する。
 計測されたDC電圧がしきい値よりも高い場合は、放電処理部32によってスイッチ37をONとして放電を開始し(ステップQ3)、放電処理部32が有するタイマー(図示せず)をスタートさせる(ステップQ4)。タイマーで経過時間をカウントし、放電設定時間に達すると(ステップQ5)、スイッチ37をOFFとして放電を停止する(ステップQ6)。前記タイマーの放電設定時間は、放電を電圧計測のために定期的に一時的に止めるための極短時間である。
 放電停止(ステップQ6)の後、前記回数管理部33は、放電処理部32が有する放電回数カウンタを1だけインクリメントし(ステップQ7)、予め設定したカウント値よりも低いか否かを判定する(ステップQ8)。前記カウント値は、放電回数が適正範囲であるか否かを判断する回数として設定された回数であり、前記カウント値よりも低い場合は、再度、DC電圧の計測過程(ステップQ1)に戻り、しきい値との比較(ステップQ2)を行って、前述の各過程を繰り返す。前記ステップQ8で、放電回数のカウント値が設定されたカウント値に達した場合は、回数管理部33によって、表示パネルや音声発生手段等の警告手段に警告を行わせる(ステップQ9)。以上の処理を、電源1の直列接続された全てのバッテリ2について個々に行う。
 図5は、放電管理部31(図1,図2)による他の処理例を示す。同図の例では、ステップR2~R4が前記比較部31により実行され、ステップR5~Q8が前記放電処理部32により実行され、ステップR9~Q11が前記回数管理部33により実行される。
 図5の例は、比較部31による処理だけが図4の例とは異なっていて、他の処理は図4の例と同様であるため、異なる箇所のみを説明する。図5の例では、電圧センサ7の電圧計測部21によるバッテリ2のDC電圧の計測(ステップR1)の後、比較部31は、直列接続された全バッテリ2のDC電圧を計測したか否かを判定し(ステップR2)、全数に達しない場合は計測過程(ステップR2)に戻って残りのバッテリ2の計測を行う。なお、どのバッテリ2を計測したかについては、例えばバッテリ2毎に設けたフラグ等で管理しておく。また、計測した各バッテリ2のQDC電圧は所定の記憶領域に記憶しておく。
 全てのバッテリ2のDC電圧の計測が完了すると、比較部31は、これら全てのバッテリ2のDC電圧の平均値を求め(ステップR3)、この平均値に、予め設定した加算値を加算した値をしきい値として、個々のバッテリ2の計測されたDC電圧がしきい値よりも低いか否かを判定する(ステップR4)。しきい値よりも高いバッテリ2がある場合は、そのバッテリ2につき、図4の例と同様にスイッチ37をONとして放電を行う(ステップR5)。前記平均値を求めるステップR3は、複数の電圧センサ7のいずれか一つで行ってその計算結果を各電圧センサ7が用いるようにしても良い。
 なお、図4、図5の例は、いずれも放電を開始した後、バッテリ2のDC電圧によって放電を終了するか否かを判断したが、放電管理部22は、放電停止の判断をDC電圧によらずに、放電開始からの設定時間後に放電を停止するようにして良い。
 上記各構成の劣化抑制装置によると、いずれも、計測された電圧の高いバッテリ2につき放電させるようにしたため、直列接続された各バッテリ2の電圧を均等化させることができる。例えば、図3に電源1を簡素化して示すように、直列接続された各バッテリ2(2~2)のDC電圧がそれぞれV,V,V,Vであって、Vだけが劣化判断の基準値(前記「しきい値」)よりも高かったとすると、バッテリ2だけを放電させる。このように各バッテリ2の電圧を均等化させることにより、充電時等に、劣化の進んだバッテリ2である端子間電圧の高いバッテリ2の劣化を加速させてしまうことが防止できる。
 放電を行う場合に、設定時間によって放電をOFFにする構成とする場合は、タイマー等による簡易な構成で適切な放電が行える。また、放電中に一定間隔で放電を一時的に停止させてバッテリ電圧を計測し、そのバッテリ電圧の判定結果によって放電を終了する構成の場合(図4,図5の例)は、タイマーにより放電時間を制御する場合よりも精度良くバッテリ2の放電後の電圧を得ることができる。そのため、バッテリ2の劣化防止がより一層確実となる。
 図4,図5の例のように、放電中に一定間隔で放電を一時的に停止させてバッテリ電圧を計測し、放電の停止をバッテリ電圧としきい値との比較で行う場合に、同図の例のように放電回数が設定値を超えると警告手段に警告を行わせるようにしたときは、放電を行っても適切な電圧にならない異常を作業者に迅速に認識させることができ、早期の対処が可能となる。
 前記放電部30の電流制限抵抗36およびスイッチ37と、前記電圧計測部21を構成する回路素子21A(図1)とは同じ回路基板7Aに実装されていても良く、その場合、この劣化抑制装置の構成がより簡素でコンパクトに構成できる。また、この実施形態では、放電回路35と、電圧計測部21におけるバッテリ2に接続される回路とが同一の正負のケーブル38に接続されるようにしたため、配線系が簡素になる。
 図5の例のように、放電させるか否かを判定するしきい値につき、全バッテリ2のDC電圧の平均値を計算し、この平均値に設定された加算値を加えて前記しきい値とする場合は、予めしきい値を定めておくよりも、より一層適正な電圧となるように放電させることができる。個々の電源1によって、適正となる電圧の範囲が僅かではあるが変わるため、予めしきい値を定めておくよりも平均値を用いる方がより適切な電圧になるように放電することでできる。これにより、劣化抑制がより一層確実となる。また、DC電圧の平均値に設定された加算値を加えてしきい値とするため、充電中であっても、充電電流が同じとなる直列接続されたバッテリに対し、端子間電圧を監視し相対的に劣化判断することが可能である。
 次に、この劣化抑制装置を用いた二次電池の劣化判定装置の全体につき、図6~図8と共に説明する。なお、この明細書で既に述べた事項については説明を省略する。図6に示すように、前記コントローラ11は、この実施形態では主コントローラ11Aに、通信網12を介してデータサーバ13およびモニタ14を接続してなる。通信網12は、無線LANなどのLANからなり、ハブ12aを有している。通信網12は広域通信網であっても良い。データサーバ13は、前記通信網12や他の通信網により、遠隔地のパーソナルコンピュータ(図示せず)等と通信可能であり、どこからでもデータ監視することができる。通信網12を介する主コントローラ11Aとデータサーバ13との間の通信は、ハンドシェイクによって確実な通信を行うようにすることが好ましい。
 図7において、主コントローラ11Aは、各無線通信部24から送信された電圧センサ7の計測値を受信する受信部11aと、受信部11aで受信した計測値を通信網12へ転送する転送部11bと、各電圧センサ7の無線通信部24に無線で送信開始等のコマンドを送信するコマンド送信部11cと、後述の待機部11dと、電流印加制御部11eとを有している。電流印加制御部11eは、計測用電流印加手段9(図6)を制御する。コマンド送信部11cおよび受信部11aの無線送受は、アンテナ19を介して行われる。
 図6に示すように、各電流センサ8は、主コントローラ11Aに配線で接続され、その電流の計測値は図7の前記転送部11bから電圧計測値と共に転送される。前記主コントローラ11Aの前記コマンド送信部11cは、自己でコマンドを生成しても良いが、この実施形態では、データサーバ13から送信された計測開始コマンドに応答して各電圧センサ7の無線通信部24へ前記計測開始コマンドを転送する。なお、主コントローラ11Aまたは電流センサ8に、この電流センサ8の計測値を実効値または平均値に換算する換算部(図示せず)が設けられている。
 上記のように、コントローラ11は、無線通信部24に前記コマンドを送信する機能を有し、無線通信部24は、当該コマンドを受信すると、電圧センサ7に備えられた演算処理部(不図示)にこのコマンドに対応する指令を与える機能を有している。
 データサーバ13は、内部抵抗演算部13aと判定部13bとを有する。内部抵抗演算部13aは、主コントローラ11Aから送信されて受信した交流電圧値(実行値または平均値)と、直流電圧値(セル電圧)と、計測温度と、電流値(実行値または平均値)とを用い、定められた計算式に従ってバッテリ2の内部抵抗を算出する。計測温度は、温度補正に用いられる。
 判定部13bは、しきい値が設定され、算出された内部抵抗がしきい値以上であると劣化と判定する。前記しきい値は、複数、例えば2~3段階に設けられ、複数段階の劣化判定を行い、後述のようにこの複数段階に対応した警報を出力する。判定部13bは、判定結果を、前記通信網12を介して、または専用の配線を介してモニタ14に表示させる機能を有する。データサーバ13は、この他に、主コントローラ11Aへ計測開始コマンドおよび計測終了コマンドを送信するコマンド送信部13cと、主コントローラ11Aから送信された電圧計測値などのデータを格納するデータ格納部13dとを有している。
 なお、上記構成において、主コントローラ11Aと計測用電流印加手段9とは、同一ケースに入れた一体のコントローラとして構成されても良い。また、コントローラ11は、この実施形態では主コントローラ11Aとデータサーバ13とで構成したが、これら主コントローラ11Aとデータサーバ13とは、同一ケースに入った一つのコントローラ11として構成しても良く、また一つの基板等で構成される一つの情報処理装置に、主コントローラ11Aとデータサーバ13との区別なく構成されていても良い。
 次にこの二次電池の劣化判定装置の動作を図8と共に説明する。データサーバ13は、コマンド送信部13c(図7)から計測開始コマンドを送信する(ステップS1)。主コントローラ11Aは、データサーバ13から計測開始コマンド受信し(ステップS2)、各電圧センサ7の無線通信部24、および各電流センサ8へ計測開始コマンドを送信する(ステップS3)。この送信以降の処理と並行して、待機部11dにより待機時間の終了判定(ステップS20)および待機時間のカウント(ステップS22)を行う。設定された待機時間が終了すると、計測用電流印加装置9により電流の印加を行う(ステップS21)。この電流の印加は、計測用電流印加装置9が放電装置であれば放電の開始、充電装置であれば充電の開始を行う。
 ステップS3で送信された計測開始コマンドは、全数の電圧センサ7が受信し(ステップS4)、各電圧センサ7は、自己の計測遅延時間の終了を待って(ステップS5)、バッテリ2のDC電圧(端子間電圧)を計測する(ステップS6)。この後、電圧センサ7は、待機時間の終了を待って(ステップS7)、バッテリ2のAC電圧を計測する(ステップS8)。AC電圧の計測については、直接の計測値を実効電圧または平均電圧に換算し、その換算値を計測値として出力する。
 計測したDC電圧およびAC電圧は、自己の送信遅延時間だけ待って、無線通信部24により無線で送信し(ステップS9)、コントローラ11の主コントローラ11Aが無線で受信する(ステップS10)。主コントローラ11Aは、受信したDC電圧およびAC電圧を、電流センサ8の計測値と共に、データサーバ13へLAN等の通信網12で送信する(ステップS11)。データサーバ13は、順に送信される各電圧センサ7等のセンサのデータを受信してデータ格納部13dに格納する(ステップS12)。前記無線送信のステップS9からデータサーバ13によるデータ格納までは、全電圧センサ7のデータの受信および格納が終了するまで行う(ステップS12でNO)。
 この受信および格納の終了(ステップS12でYES)の後、その終了信号のデータサーバ13から主コントローラ11Aへの送信、および主コントローラ11Aの電流印加制御信号の出力によって、前記計測用電流印加装置9の電流印加をオフにし(ステップS16)、データサーバ13では内部抵抗演算部13aで各バッテリ2の内部抵抗を演算する(ステップS13)。
 データサーバ13の判定部13bは、演算された内部抵抗を、適宜定められた第1しきい値と比較し(ステップS14)、第1しきい値よりも小さい場合は、バッテリ2が正常であると判定する(ステップS15)。第1しきい値よりも小さくない場合は、さらに第2しきい値と比較し(ステップS17)、第2しきい値より小さい場合、注意を喚起する警報の警告を出力する(ステップS18)。第2しきい値よりも小さくない場合は、警告よりも強い知らせの警報を出力する(ステップS19)。前記警報および警告は、モニタ14(図6)で表示する。上記の正常な場合は、モニタ14に正常である旨を表示しても良く、また特に表示しなくても良い。前記モニタ14による警報および警告の表示は、例えば定められたアイコン等のマークにより行っても、所定部位の点灯等で行っても良い。このようにして、非常用の電源1の全てのバッテリ2の劣化判定を行う。なお、図8は、2段階の劣化判定および警報の表示等の例である。
 この構成の劣化判定装置によると、上記のように、バッテリ2に交流成分を与えてその交流成分の電圧を電圧センサ7で計測する。この計測値を用いて各バッテリ2の内部抵抗を算出し、内部抵抗から前記バッテリ2の劣化を判定する。このため、精度良く劣化を判定することができる。バッテリ2の内部抵抗は、バッテリ2の容量、つまり劣化の程度と密接な関係があり、内部抵抗が分かれば、バッテリ2の劣化を精度良く判定できる。また、劣化判定対象の電源1の全体ではなく、個々のバッテリ2の劣化を判定するが、交流成分を含む計測用電流を生じさせ、バッテリ2の内部抵抗を計測して劣化判定する構成であるため、比較的に簡易な構成で計測できる。
 この実施形態では、前記電圧センサ7は、バッテリ2毎に設けられ、無線通信によりデータの受け取り受け渡しをする構成であるため、数十から数百個のバッテリ2を備える非常用の電源1であっても、各バッテリ2につき、電気的に基準電位(グランドレベル)を気にする必要がない。そのため、差動演算や絶縁トランスの必要がない。また、こうした複数ある個々の電圧センサ7の計測値を無線で送信するため、複雑な配線の必要がない。その反面、無線通信のために電圧センサ7における電力消費が多くなり、判定対象のバッテリ2の電力を電圧センサ7の駆動に用いる構成では、電力消費の問題がより一層大きくなる。そのため、この実施形態における電力供給を設定時間だけ遮断する時間管理電源制御部31を設けたことによる電力消費の節減効果がより一層効果的となる。
 また、この実施形態では、各電圧センサ7の計測した前記計測値を、実効値または平均値に変換して送信する場合、電圧波形の信号を送る場合に比べて飛躍的に送信データ量が少なくて済む。バッテリ2の内部抵抗の算出は実効値または平均値で精度良く行える。このような変換部29を有する場合も、この変換部29を構成するIC(例えばCPU)の電力消費が問題となり、この実施形態における電力供給を設定時間だけ遮断する時間管理電源制御部31を設けたことによる電力消費の節減効果が効果的となる。
 前記電圧センサ7の制御は、上記のように計測開始コマンドおよび前記計測完了コマンドを用いて行うようにしたため、多数ある各電圧センサ7による電圧計測を適切なタイミングで行うことができる。
 また、バッテリ2の内部抵抗を求めるにつき、電圧の計測だけであっても、電流を一定値に仮定することなどして、算出が可能ではあるが、バッテリ2に実際に流れる電流を計測し、電圧と電流との両方を求めることで、内部抵抗をより一層精度良く算出することができる。直列に並んだ各バッテリに流れる電流は同じであるため、電流センサ8はバッテリ群3毎に1つ設けられていれば足りる。電流センサ8はバッテリ2毎ではなくバッテリ群3毎に設けられるため、個数が少なく、有線であっても配線上の支障はない。
 この二次電池の劣化判定装置によると、さらに次の作用効果が得られる。前記コントローラ11は、前記各電圧センサ7の各無線通信部24に計測開始コマンドを送信し、このコマンドによって電圧センサ2の計測を開始させるため、多数存在する各電圧センサ2の計測開始タイミングを整えることができる。この場合に、前記コントローラ11は、前記各電圧センサ7に計測開始コマンドを同時にシリアル伝送またはパラレル伝送で送信し、各電圧センサ7は、計測開始遅延時間経過後に同時に計測を行う。計測終了後、前記コントローラ11は、順に前記各電圧センサ7にデータ送信の要求コマンドを送信し、コマンドを受けた電圧センサ7がデータを送信し、以上を繰り返すことで、データ通信を行ってもよい。この発明において、前記コントローラ11は、データ送信要求コマンドの送信から一定時間後に、データ受信できなかった前記電圧センサ7に対し再送信要求を行うようにして良い。
 別の例として、各電圧センサ7毎に定められた計測開始遅延時間だけ経過後に計測を行うようにする場合、各無線通信部24へ同時に計測開始コマンドを送信しても、多数ある各電圧センサ7の計測を、無線送受に支障がないように順に行い、送信することができる。例えば、送信開始コマンドはグローバルコマンドであり、電圧センサ7は同時に取得する。
 前記コントローラ11は、前記計測開始コマンドの送信から一定時間後に、データ受信できなかった前記電圧センサ7に対し再送信要求を行う。何らかの一時的な送信の障害等により、一部の電圧センサ7の無線通信部24で計測開始コマンドを受信できない場合がある。そのような場合でも、前記再送信要求を行うことで、電圧を計測して送信でき、電源の全てのバッテリ2の電圧計測値を得ることができる。計測開始コマンドを受信できたか否かは、コントローラ11側で、電圧の計測値が受信されたか否かを判断することで行えば良い。
 コントローラ11は、前記のように計測開始コマンドを同時に送信するのではなく前記各電圧センサ7の無線通信部24に個別にデータ要求コマンドを送信し、順にデータを受信するようにしても良い。この構成の場合、電圧センサ7側に遅延部7bbが不要となり、電圧センサ7側の構成が簡素化される。前記コントローラ11は、算出した前記内部抵抗の大きさに応じて複数段階の警報を出力するため、バッテリ交換の必要性の緊急度がわかり、無駄なバッテリ交換を行うことなく、保守の計画や準備が円滑かつ迅速に行える。
 なお、上記実施形態では、電源1が非常用電源であって、トリクル充電を行う場合につき説明したが、フロート充電の形式が採られる電源であっても良い。また、非常用電源に限らず、二次電池であるバッテリ2を複数個直列に接続した電源一般に、この発明の二次電池の劣化抑制装置を適用することができる。
 以上、図面を参照しながら実施形態に基づいて本発明を実施するための好適な形態を説明したが、ここで開示した実施の形態はすべての点で例示であって制限的なものではない。本発明の範囲は上記した説明ではなくて請求の範囲によって示される。当業者であれば、本件明細書を見て、自明な範囲内で種々の変更および修正を容易に想定するであろう。したがって、そのような変更および修正は、請求の範囲から定まる発明の範囲内またはこれと均等の範囲内のものと解釈される。

Claims (11)

  1.  それぞれ二次電池であるバッテリの複数が直列に接続された電源の前記バッテリの劣化を抑制する二次電池の劣化抑制装置であって、
     各バッテリに接続される複数の個別劣化抑制装置を備え、
     各個別劣化抑制装置は、前記バッテリの端子間の直流電圧を計測する電圧計測部と、この電圧計測部で計測された電圧をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定する比較部と、前記比較部により高いと判定されると前記バッテリを放電させる放電部とを備える二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  2.  請求項1に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記放電部は、前記バッテリと並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗とスイッチとの直列回路からなる放電回路と、この放電回路を制御する放電管理部とでなり、この放電管理部は、前記比較部と、この比較部により前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると前記スイッチをONにし、設定時間後に前記スイッチをOFFにする放電処理部とを有する二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  3.  請求項1に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記放電部は、前記バッテリと並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗とスイッチとの直列回路からなる放電回路と、この放電回路を制御する放電管理部とでなり、
     この放電管理部は、前記比較部により前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると、前記スイッチをONとして前記バッテリと電流制限抵抗とを接続し、このスイッチをONとする間に一定間隔で一時的に前記スイッチをOFFにして、前記電圧計測部による電圧計測および前記比較部による比較を再度行わせ、
     このとき、前記比較部で前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも低いと判定されると前記スイッチのOFF状態を維持し、また前記比較部で前記計測された電圧が前記しきい値よりも高いと判定されると、再度、前記スイッチをONとして前記一定間隔の一時的なOFF、前記電圧計測、前記比較の各過程を繰り返す放電処理部を有する二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  4.  請求項3に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記放電処理部の前記各過程の繰り返しにより前記スイッチをONとする放電の回数を計測し、放電回数が設定値に達すると警告手段に警告を行わせる回数管理部を有する二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  5.  請求項1ないし請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記放電部は、前記バッテリと並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗とスイッチとの直列回路からなる放電回路を有し、前記電流制限抵抗とスイッチとは、前記電圧計測部と同一の回路基板上に実装されている二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  6.  請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記放電部は、前記バッテリと並列に接続された、電流制限抵抗とスイッチとの直列回路からなる放電回路を有し、この放電回路と前記電圧計測部の前記バッテリに接続される回路とは同一のケーブルに接続される二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  7.  請求項1ないし請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記電圧計測部は、前記バッテリの端子間に印加された交流成分の電圧を計測する機能を有する構成である二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  8.  請求項7に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記電圧計測部で計測された前記交流成分の電圧を無線で送信する無線通信部を有する二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  9.  請求項1ないし請求項8のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記比較部は、前記各個別劣化抑制装置の前記電圧計測部で計測した全バッテリの直流電圧の平均値を計算し、この平均値に設定された加算値を加えて前記しきい値とする二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  10.  請求項1ないし請求項9のいずれか1項に記載の二次電池の劣化抑制装置において、前記バッテリの複数が直列に接続されたバッテリ群に交流成分を有する電流を印加する計測用電流印加手段と、前記電圧計測部で計測された前記交流成分の電圧から前記バッテリの内部抵抗演算する内部抵抗演算部と、この内部抵抗演算部で演算された内部抵抗から前記バッテリの劣化を判定する判定部とを備える二次電池の劣化抑制装置。
  11.  二次電池であるバッテリの劣化を抑制する二次電池の個別劣化抑制装置であって、
     前記バッテリの端子間の直流電圧を計測する電圧計測部と、この電圧計測部で計測された電圧をしきい値と比較して高いか否かを判定する比較部と、前記比較部により高いと判定されると前記バッテリを放電させる放電部とを備え、
     前記放電部は、前記バッテリと並列に接続された電流制限抵抗とスイッチとの直列回路からなる放電回路と、この放電回路を制御する放電管理部とでなり、この放電管理部は、前記比較部と、この比較部により高いと判定されると前記スイッチをONにして放電させ、定められた放電の条件が充足すると放電の処理を停止する放電処理部とを有する二次電池の個別劣化抑制装置。
