  • An image forming apparatus 20 has two communication interfaces, i.e. a NIC (Network Interface Card) 306 and a USB device 350.
  • the USB device 350 is coupled to a base station 71 installed by a mobile phone company, and sends device information A on the image forming apparatus 20.
  • a gateway server 70 coupled to the base station 71 sends the device information A on the image forming apparatus 20 to a management apparatus 40 via a network N.
  • the NIC 306 is coupled to the network N via a company LAN 360, and sends device information B on the image forming apparatus 20 to the management apparatus 40. Therefore, the image forming apparatus 20 can send the device information A, B via either of the two communication paths 1, 2. The device information A, B can reach the management apparatus 40 via either of the communication paths 1, 2.
  • the management apparatus 40 determines which communication path, 1 or 2, the image forming apparatus 20 uses (determines which communication interface is used) according to the following processes: (1) When the image forming apparatus 20 uses the USB device 350 as the communication interface, from a process of sending the device information A by the image forming apparatus 20 until the device information A goes through the communication path 1 and reaches the management apparatus 40, information indicating that the communication interface is the USB device 350 (in the following, referred to as communication path determination information) is attached to the device information A.
  • the management apparatus 40 can determine which communication path, 1 or 2, the device information A or B goes through, referring to the communication path determination information. Because the management apparatus 40 registers which communication path, 1 or 2, is used by the image forming apparatus 20, the management apparatus 40 can determine whether the image forming apparatus 20 sends the device information A or B using the predetermined communication interface.
