 本開示は、移動体に搭載されるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置、及びヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に用いられる反射光学系に関する。
 従来、移動体に搭載されるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置(以下、「HUD」と称す)が知られている(特許文献1参照)。HUDは、情報を表す光源光を投射する表示器と、その表示器から投射された光源光を移動体に設けられた投影面に投影することにより、光源光を虚像として投影させる結像光学系とを備えている。

 この太陽光による表示器のダメージを低減するために、HUDにおいて、表示器から結像光学系への光源光の経路上に反射光学系を配置することが考えられる。ここで言う反射光学系とは、赤外線領域の光を透過し可視光領域の光を反射する誘電体多層膜を有したコールドミラーである。
 しかしながら、コールドミラーの誘電体多層膜は、屈折率が異なる薄膜が積層されているため、表示器からの光源光がコールドミラーで反射されると、s波とp波との間に位相差が生じ楕円偏光となる。
 この楕円偏光となった光源光が、波長によって反射率が異なる結像光学系の投影面に投影されると、表示器から照射された光源光に対して色度が変化するという課題が生じる。
 つまり、従来の技術では、太陽光による表示器のダメージを低減しつつ、色度の変化を抑制することが困難であった。
 そこで、本開示の一側面は、太陽光による表示器のダメージを低減しつつ、色度の変化を抑制することが可能なヘッドアップディスプレイ装置、およびヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に用いられる反射光学系を提供することを目的とする。
 本開示の第一の態様は、移動体に搭載されるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置である。 ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置は、照明光学系と、結像光学系と、反射光学系とを備える。
 照明光学系は、情報を表す光源光を投射する。結像光学系は、照明光学係により投射された光源光が投影面に投影される。
 反射光学系は、赤外線領域の電磁波を透過し可視光領域の電磁波を反射する誘電体多層膜を有している。そして、反射光学系は、照明光学系から結像光学系までの光源光の経路上に、照明光学系の偏光軸が入射面に対して0度より大きく90度よりも小さく、または、90度より大きく180度よりも小さくなるように配置されている。
 このようなヘッドアップディスプレイ装置においては、照明光学系から結像光学系への光源光の経路上に反射光学系を配置している。このため、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置によれば、外部からの太陽光に含まれる赤外線が、照明光学系へと到達することを抑制でき、太陽光による表示器のダメージを低減できる。
 さらに、反射光学系においては、照明光学系からの光源光における少なくとも一部の波長を含む対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲となるように構成されている。
 これは、対象波長の位相差を、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲とすることで、結像光学系で反射される光源光の波長分散を抑制できるという、発明者らが鋭意研究を行った結果得られた知見に基づくものである。
 すなわち、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置によれば、結像光学系に投影された光において色度が変化することを抑制できる。
 換言すると、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置によれば、太陽光による表示器のダメージを低減しつつ、結像光学系に投影された光源光における色度の変化を抑制できる。
 本開示の第二の態様は、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置に用いられる反射光学系であってもよい。
 本開示についての上記目的およびその他の目的、特徴や利点は、添付の図面を参照しながら下記の詳細な記述により、より明確になる。図面において、
ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置の概略構成を示す説明図である。 反射光学系の特性を決定する方法を説明するグラフであり、評価スペクトルを示すグラフである。 反射光学系の特性を決定する方法を説明するグラフであり、バックライトからの光源光のスペクトルを示すグラフである。 反射光学系の特性を決定する方法を説明するグラフであり、CIE XYZ等色関数を示すグラフである。 照明光学系と反射光学系との位置関係を説明する説明図である。 実施形態の効果を説明するグラフである。 対象波長の変形例を説明するグラフである。
 以下に本開示の実施形態を図面と共に説明する。
<ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置>
 図1に示すヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1は、移動体としての自動車に搭載される装置である。以下、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1を、HUD1と称す。
 HUD1は、結像光学系10と、発光ユニット20と、凹面鏡32と、反射光学系34と、ケーシング50とを備えている。
 結像光学系10は、情報が投影される投影面12を有した部材であり、発光ユニット20により投射された光源光を虚像として投影させる。本実施形態における結像光学系10は、自動車のウインドシールドである。このウインドシールドの車室内側の面が投影面12として機能する。投影面12は、波長によって反射率が異なる。
 なお、結像光学系10は、ウインドシールドに限るものではなく、ウインドシールドよりも運転席側に配置された透明のスクリーン(いわゆるコンバイナ)であってもよい。
 HUD1は、運転者が運転中に情報を視認する表示装置(ドライバ専用の表示装置)である。HUD1は、自動車のウインドシールド(フロントガラス)における運転者の前方位置を通して視認される車両外部の景色(ドライバの前方視野)に重畳して画像を表示する。HUD1により表示される画像は、ウインドシールドよりも更に前方の虚像面で視認される。
 ケーシング50は、発光ユニット20と、凹面鏡32と、反射光学系34とを収納するケースである。この発光ユニット20と凹面鏡32と反射光学系34とを収納したケーシング50は、自動車のダッシュボード内に配置される。
 なお、ケーシング50には、発光ユニット20からの光源光が結像光学系10に到達するように、光源光の経路上に開口が形成されている。さらに、ケーシング50には、開口を覆うカバーである防塵カバー52が取り付けられる。
 発光ユニット20は、照明光学系22と、波長板24とを備えている。
 照明光学系22は、運転者が視認すべき各種情報を表す光源光を照射する装置である。本実施形態における照明光学系22は、バックライトからの光を液晶パネル、カラーフィルタ及び偏光フィルタを通過させることで直線偏光された光源光を照射する周知の液晶ディスプレイである。
 なお、ここで言う直線偏光とは、全液晶画素において同軸方向の偏光軸を有する状態へと偏光されたことである。また、ここで言う同軸方向とは、各液晶画素における偏光軸の角度差が「0」または「0」とみなせる許容範囲内であることである。
 なお、ここで言う光源光とは、運転者が視認すべき情報を表す光である。また、光源光は、バックライトにて発光され、直線偏光された光である。
 波長板24は、照明光学系22から反射光学系34までの光源光の経路上に配置されている。波長板24は、照明光学系22から照射された光源光の直交する偏光成分に位相差を生じさせる周知の部材である。本実施形態において、直交する偏光成分とは、s波とp波とである。
 また、波長板24は、照明光学系22からの光源光の偏光軸が、反射光学系34の入射面に対して0度よりも大きく90度未満、または、90度より大きく180度未満となるように決定されている。
 凹面鏡32は、平行に入射した光を焦点に集める周知の光学部材である。この凹面鏡32は、反射した光源光を結像光学系10へと導くように、反射光学系34から結像光学系10への光の経路上に配置されている。
<反射光学系>
 反射光学系34は、赤外線領域の電磁波を透過し可視光領域の電磁波を反射する誘電体多層膜を有した光学部材、いわゆるコールドミラーである。反射光学系34の誘電体多層膜は、屈折率の異なる誘電体膜を交互に積み重ねることで形成されている。
 なお、ここで言う赤外線領域とは、可視光線の赤色よりも波長が長く、電波よりも波長が短い波長の領域である。赤外線領域の一例として、750[nm]から1000[μm]の波長領域が考えられる。また、ここで言う可視光領域とは、紫外線の波長よりも波長が長く、赤外線の波長よりも短い波長の領域である。可視光領域の一例として、350[nm]から750[nm]の波長領域が考えられる。
 反射光学系34の誘電体多層膜は、対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]よりも大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲となるように構成されている。本開示における対象波長とは、照明光学系22からの光源光における少なくとも一部の波長を含む単波長または波長領域である。また、対象波長の位相差とは、対象波長において直交する偏光成分(即ち、s波とp波と)の間の位相差である。
 なお、対象波長の位相差が-π/2[rad]よりも大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲となる反射光学系34を実現する方法の一例として、誘電体多層膜を構成する少なくとも1つの膜の厚さや、誘電体多層膜全体の膜の厚さを調整することが考えられる。対象波長の位相差が-π/2[rad]よりも大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲となる反射光学系34を実現する方法の一例として、屈折率の異なる誘電体膜それぞれの膜の厚さを調整することや、誘電体多層膜を構成する膜の材料などを調整することが考えられる。ここで言う調整には、実験やシミュレーションなどによって最適解を決定することを含む。
 本実施形態における対象波長とは、照明光学系22から入射した光源光のスペクトルにおいて、赤色、青色、及び緑色の波長領域を包含する波長領域である。具体的に、本実施形態における対象波長の波長領域λcは、下記(1)式に従って求めればよい。

 (1)式におけるλallは、図2に示すような評価スペクトルの全波長領域である。すなわち、(1)式における分母(以下、「強度総和」とも称す)は、評価スペクトルにおけるスペクトル強度の総和である。
 この評価スペクトルとは、図3に示すようなバックライトからの光のスペクトルL(λ)に、図4に示すような等色関数X(λ),Y(λ),Z(λ)を掛け合わせたスペクトルである。なお、ここで言う等色関数とは、周知の、CIE XYZ等色関数である。
 また、(1)式における波長領域λcは、下記(2)式を満たす波長λの集合である。

 なお、(2)式における符号Iは、スペクトルの相対強度の閾値として予め規定された規定閾値である。
 つまり、本実施形態においては、評価スペクトルにおいてスペクトルの相対強度が閾値I以上であり、かつ、評価スペクトルの強度総和に対するスペクトル強度の割合が、予め規定された規定値Ithよりも大きいスペクトルの集合からなる波長領域を対象波長の波長領域λcとすればよい。なお、規定値Ithは、実験やシミュレーションなどの結果に従って予め決定された閾値である。
 反射光学系34の配置位置は、照明光学系22から結像光学系10までの光源光の経路上である。反射光学系34は、図5に示すように、波長板24を通過した光源光の偏光軸(図5中:α)が入射面に対して0度より大きく90度よりも小さく、または、90度より大きく180度よりも小さくなるように配置されている。すなわち、光源光の偏光軸αが、入射面に対して0度<α<90度<α<180度を満たすように、反射光学系34は配置されている。
[実施形態の効果]
 以上説明したように、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1では、照明光学系22から結像光学系10への光源光の経路上に反射光学系34が配置されている。
 このため、外部からの太陽光に含まれる赤外線は、反射光学系34で反射されることなく通過する。よって、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1によれば、太陽光に含まれる赤外線が照明光学系22へと到達することを抑制でき、太陽光に含まれる赤外線による照明光学系22のダメージを低減できる。
 さらに、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1における反射光学系34は、照明光学系22からの光源光において、対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]よりも大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲となるように構成されている。
 これは、対象波長の位相差を、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]未満の範囲とすることで、結像光学系10で反射される光源光の波長分散を抑制できるという、発明者らが鋭意研究を重ねた結果として得られた知見に基づくものである。
 つまり、この知見は、図6に示すように、反射光学系34において、対象波長の位相差を、-π/2[rad](即ち、-90[deg])より大きくπ/2[rad](即ち、90[deg])よりも小さい範囲とすれば、結像光学系10で反射された光源光のX色度、及びY色度の双方を、色ズレが生じない範囲に抑制できるというものである。
 なお、図6に示すグラフは、発明者らが鋭意研究を行うことで得られた結果であり、反射光学系34における対象波長の位相差と、結像光学系10に投影された光源光のX色度、及びY色度との関係を示すものある。また、図6において、色ズレが生じない範囲は、X色度については、0.25~0.35の範囲内、Y色度については、0.29~0.38の範囲内とした。
 以上説明したように、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1によれば、結像光学系10に投影された光源光において色度が変化することを抑制できる。
 換言すると、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置1によれば、太陽光による照明光学系22のダメージを低減しつつ、結像光学系10に投影された光源光における色度の変化を抑制できる。
[その他の実施形態]
 (1) 上記実施形態においては、HUD1が搭載される移動体を自動車としていたが、HUD1が搭載される移動体は、自動車に限るものではない。HUD1が搭載される移動体は、航空機であってもよいし、車両であってもよいし、船舶であってもよい。
 (2)上記実施形態においては、評価スペクトルにおいてスペクトルの相対強度が閾値I以上であり、かつ、評価スペクトルの強度総和に対するスペクトル強度の割合が規定値Ith以上となる波長領域を対象波長としていたが、対象波長は、これに限るものではない。
 例えば、図7に示すように、照明光学系22からの光源光のスペクトルにおいて光の強度が最も強い単波長を対象波長としてもよい。
 なお、ここで言う単波長は、光源光のスペクトルにおいて光の強度が最も強い1つの波長である。ただし、本開示における単波長は、光源光のスペクトルにおいて光の強度が最も強い1つの波長に限るものではなく、光源光のスペクトルにおいて光の強度が最も強い1つの波長とみなせる範囲の波長領域を含む。
 また、照明光学系22からの光源光のスペクトルにおいて、赤色、青色、及び緑色それぞれの波長領域を対象波長としてもよい。ここで言う赤色の波長とは、人が赤色と視認する波長の領域であり、例えば、620[nm]から750[nm]の波長の領域である。ここで言う青色の波長とは、人が青色と視認する波長の領域であり、例えば、450[nm]から495[nm]の波長の領域である。緑色の波長とは、人が緑色と視認する波長の領域であり、例えば、495[nm]から570[nm]の波長の領域である。
 本開示は、実施形態に準拠して記述されたが、本開示は当該実施形態や構造に限定されるものではないと理解される。本開示は、様々な変形例や均等範囲内の変形をも包含する。加えて、様々な組み合わせや形態、さらには、それらに一要素のみ、それ以上、あるいはそれ以下、を含む他の組み合わせや形態をも、本開示の範疇や思想範囲に入るものである。

 

Claims (6)

  1.  移動体に搭載されるヘッドアップディスプレイ装置であって、
     情報を表す光源光を投射する照明光学系(22)と、
     前記照明光学系により投射された前記光源光が投影面に投影される結像光学系(10)と、
     前記照明光学系から前記結像光学系までの前記光源光の経路上に、前記照明光学系からの光源光の偏光軸が入射面に対して0度より大きく90度よりも小さく、または、90度より大きく180度よりも小さくなるように配置され、かつ、赤外線領域の電磁波を透過し可視光領域の電磁波を反射する誘電体多層膜を有した反射光学系(34)であって、前記照明光学系からの光源光における少なくとも一部の波長を含む対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]より小さい範囲となるように構成された反射光学系(34)と、
     を備えた、ヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
  2.  前記反射光学系は、
     前記照明光学系から入射した光源光のスペクトルにおいて光の強度が最も強い単波長を前記対象波長として、その対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]より小さい範囲となるように構成されている、請求項1に記載のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
  3.  前記反射光学系は、
     前記照明光学系から入射した光源光のスペクトルにおいて、赤色、青色、及び緑色それぞれの波長領域を前記対象波長として、その対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]より小さい範囲となるように構成されている、請求項1または請求項2に記載のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
  4.  前記反射光学系は、
     前記照明光学系から入射した光源光のスペクトルに等色関数を掛け合わせた評価スペクトルにおいて、スペクトル強度の総和である強度総和に対するスペクトル強度の割合が、予め規定された規定値以上となる波長領域を前記対象波長として、その対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]より小さい範囲となるように構成されている、請求項1から請求項3までのいずれか一項に記載のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
  5.  前記照明光学系から前記結像光学系までの前記光源光の経路上に配置され、直交する偏光成分に位相差を与える少なくとも1つの波長板(24)を備え、
     前記波長板は、
     前記照明光学系からの光源光の偏光軸が、前記反射光学系の入射面に対して、0度より大きく90度よりも小さく、または、90度より大きく180度よりも小さくなるように配置される、請求項1から請求項4までのいずれか一項に記載のヘッドアップディスプレイ装置。
  6.  直線偏光された光源光を投射する照明光学系(34)と、前記照明光学系により投射された前記光源光が投影面に投影される結像光学系(10)とを備え、移動体に搭載されたヘッドアップディスプレイ装置(1)に用いられる反射光学系(34)であって、
     前記照明光学系から前記結像光学系までの前記光源光の経路上に、前記照明光学系からの光源光の偏光軸が入射面に対して0度より大きく90度よりも小さく、または、90度より大きく180度よりも小さくなるように配置され、かつ、赤外線領域の電磁波を透過し可視光領域の電磁波を反射する誘電体多層膜を有した反射光学系であって、前記照明光学系からの光源光における少なくとも一部の波長を含む対象波長の位相差が、-π/2[rad]より大きくπ/2[rad]より小さい範囲となるように構成された、反射光学系。
