Definitions
- the invention relates to a process for the preparation of olefins and hydrogen by dehydrogenation of alkanes, and to a catalyst suitable for this process.
- Catalysts are widely used in the chemical industry.
- One form of the catalysts used is the so-called supported catalyst in which the catalytically active components, e.g. Metals or metal oxides, in the form of isolated species to nanoparticles on support materials, which do not normally participate in the reaction directly, are applied in order to achieve a high catalytic activity of the catalyst compared to the full catalyst with the lowest possible amounts of active components.
- the support materials used usually have a large specific surface area.
- the structure of the catalytically active aggregates often changes under reaction conditions, which leads to the loss of their activity and selectivity.
- Lower olefins i. Ethene, propene, 1-butene, 2-cis-butene, 2-trans-butene, isobutene and butadiene are important industrial raw materials. Currently, they are mostly isolated from the product mixture obtained from steaming light steam crude (naphtha) or fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) heavy fuel oil. As the demand for propene and butenes (1, 2-butenes and isobutene) and products made therefrom steadily increases and their targeted production is complicated by these processes, there is an urgent need for alternative production processes.
- FCC fluid catalytic cracking
- the non-oxidative dehydrogenation of propane and isobutane is industrially on supported catalysts such as Pt-Sn / A Oa, Pt-Sn / Zn / AbO3 and CrO x / AbO3 carried out at temperatures between 525 ° C and 700 ° C.
- Pt and CrO x are the catalytically active species located on the surface of the inert carrier material AI2O3.
- the propane dehydrogenation is performed periodically after the CATOFIN process in fixed bed tubular reactors with a CrO x -containing catalyst at temperatures of about 600X
- a dehydration period lasts about 8 minutes. Thereafter, the catalyst regeneration takes place with air. A complete cycle (consisting of dehydration and regeneration) lasts between 15 and 20 minutes.
- the Snamprogetti / Yarsintez process also uses a CrO x -containing catalyst.
- the dehydrogenation is carried out in the fluidized bed reactor (Catalytic Studies Division in Catalytic Dehydrogenation and Oxidative Dehydrogenation 1991, Cat.Stud .. No. 4190 DH). Since the catalyst has to be regenerated, two fluidized bed reactors are generally operated in parallel take place alternately the non-oxidative propane dehydrogenation and the oxidative catalyst regeneration.
- propane is dehydrogenated in fixed-bed reactors under high dilution with steam (H 2 O / C 3 H 8 ⁇ 4.2) in the temperature range from 510 to 580 ° C over Pt-containing catalysts (http://www.uhde.eu /cgi-bin/byteserver.pl/archive/ upload / uhde_brochures__pdf_en_12.00.pdf).
- the dehydration cycle takes about 7 hours. Thereafter, an oxidative catalyst regeneration over 1 hour. Information about the details of the regeneration was not given.
- EP0403462A1 and US5,220,092 respectively disclose the use of oxides of the transition metals, i.a. of vanadium oxide, for the dehydrogenation of Koh lenwasserstof fen to olefins described.
- the oxides are used with or without carrier material in a pulse reactor. There are no indications of long-term stability or ⁇ production.
- pure ⁇ 2 at 590 ° C showed a propene space-time yield (RZAc3H6, Equation 1) of 0.1 kgc3H6 ⁇ " ⁇ kg " 1 catalyst- No increase in RZAC3H6 was achieved when 0.1-17 wt% catalytically active Pt was applied to ZrO 2 .
- the catalyst should be less expensive compared to the known Pt-containing catalysts and less toxic compared to the CrO x -containing catalysts. It is also very important that the catalyst is thermally stable and does not alter its activity and selectivity after several dehydrogenation and oxidative regeneration cycles. It is further desirable to use a catalyst for which the regeneration phase is significantly shorter than the dehydrogenation phase.
- Claimed therefore is a catalyst system which contains a component 1, which consists of a mixed oxide compound of ZrO 2 and one or more metal oxides of elements of groups 1 to 4, 13 or 14 of the Periodic Table (IUPAC), and containing on its surface a component 2 in a surface density of 0.0001 to 1 nm atoms "2, which consists of one or more metals from Groups 8 to 11 (IUPAC).
- a component 1 which consists of a mixed oxide compound of ZrO 2 and one or more metal oxides of elements of groups 1 to 4, 13 or 14 of the Periodic Table (IUPAC)
- IUPAC Periodic Table
- the catalyst performance remains high after several reaction-regeneration cycles, while the industrially used catalysts (eg Pt-Sn / Al 2 O 3 and CrO x / SiO 2 ) lose their activity and long-term stability from cycle to cycle, as reported in J. Catal. 293 (2012) 67.
- the industrially used catalysts eg Pt-Sn / Al 2 O 3 and CrO x / SiO 2
- the hydrocarbons to be used in the process are preferably saturated hydrocarbons, more preferably short-chain alkanes.
- alkanes having 3 to 4 carbon atoms are preferred.
- the process according to the invention and the catalyst can also be used for the dehydrogenation of 1-butene, 2-cis-butene or 2-trans-butene to butadiene.
- the concentration of the hydrocarbon to be reacted in a reactant stream which is passed over the catalyst is in the range of 5 to 100 vol.%.
- the remaining portion may be any inert gas, as well as CO 2 , H 2 , H 2 O, or mixtures thereof.
- the oxygen / hydrocarbon ratio should be 0 to 0.2, preferably 0.0001 to 0.1.
- the addition of a small amount of oxygen may be advantageous for the following reasons: (i) the oxidation of hydrocarbons produces the heat needed for the dehydrogenation, (ii) the oxidation of carbon deposits on the catalyst surface can increase the long-term stability and ( iii) by the selective oxidation of H 2 Both the thermodynamic equilibrium can be shifted in favor of olefins and the heat required for the dehydrogenation can be generated.
- the dehydrogenation can be carried out in the pressure range between 10 and 1000 kPa, preferably between 50 and 200 kPa.
- the temperature at which the process (dehydrogenation and regeneration) is carried out is between 300 ° C and 750 ° C, preferably between 500 ° C and 650 ° C, and more preferably between 550 ° C and 600 ° C.
- the gas stream used for catalyst regeneration contains O 2 and may also contain other gases such as H 2 O, CO 2, N 2 O, Ar or N 2, the O 2 concentration being in the range of 1-100 vol.%, Preferably in the range of 1-21 vol. - %, lies.
- Typical space velocities are 0.1 to 200 h -1 , based on the hydrocarbon used.
- suitable Zr-containing compounds and compounds of the metals from groups 1 to 4, 13 and 14 of the Periodic Table (IUPAC), which can be converted by calcining into the corresponding oxides can be used. These can be prepared by known methods, for example by the sol-gel method, precipitation from the salt solutions or spray-drying.
- IUPAC Periodic Table
- Component 2 consisting of elements of groups 8 to 11 (IUPAC), can be applied to the surface of the ZrtV-based component 1, for example by impregnation or dry impregnation from aqueous or organic solutions of suitable metal compounds.
- IUPAC elements of groups 8 to 11
- component 2 An important parameter for the performance of the catalyst is the surface density of component 2 on the surface of component 1, which is in the range of 0.0001-1 atoms nm "2 , preferably in the range of 0.003-0.04 atoms nm " 2 .
- the materials of component 1 are expediently calcined either before or after the application of the metal component 2 at temperatures between 400 ° C and 900 ° C, preferably between 500 ° C and 700 ° C.
- the catalyst may, but need not, be reduced prior to the dehydrogenation reaction in a gas stream containing hydrogen or another reducing agent.
- the carbon deposition on the catalyst is extremely low. So (0.0330 atoms -nm "2) are, for example, in the dehydrogenation of propane by means of Ru / Zr0 2 -La 2 0 3 over 1 h only 0.006 g per 1 g of carbon catalyst, or about 0.6 wt .-% In the same time, 0.09 g of propene was formed, and this low carbon deposition compared to the amount of propene formed demonstrates the lower tendency of the catalyst according to the invention for undesired coke formation.
- the process according to the invention has the significant advantage that isomerization reactions of the products formed are suppressed. Therefore, for example, isobutane can be converted to isobutene without at the same time also substantial amounts of n-butene are formed.
- the ZrO 2 -based carrier materials according to the invention can be prepared, for example, by the method described below. However, other manufacturing methods known to those skilled in the art are also suitable. A solution of zirconium acetate in dilute acetic acid (15.8 Ma.% Zr) and metal salt compounds of the second component, for example, Ce (NO 3 ) 3 -6H 2 O (99.99%), La (NO 3 ) 3 6H 2 0, ⁇ ( ⁇ 0 3 ) 3 ⁇ 6 ⁇ 2 0) were used as starting materials. By way of example, preparation of a ZrO 2 -CeO 2 support material is described here.
- the zirconium acetate solution and the desired amount of a solution of Ce (NO 3 ) 3 in deionized water were mixed and diluted with water with stirring until a total metal concentration (Zr + Ce) of about 0.35 mol / l was obtained.
- Zr0 2 -La 2 0 3 and Zr0 2 -Y20 3 were prepared according to analogous procedures.
- the material obtained was dried for 24 hours at 70 ° C and then calcined at 550 ° C for 4 hours.
- the materials are designated according to the molar ratio of the metals contained;
- the carrier Zro.gTio.iO 2 contains Zr and Ti in a molar ratio of 9: 1.
- the desired metal salt for example, H 2 PtCl 6 -6H 2 0, RuCl 3 nH 2 0, RhCl 3 nH 2 0, Cu (N0 3) 2 -3H 2 0, Co (N0 3) 2 -6H 2 0, Ni (N0 3) 2 -6H 2 0, was dissolved in deionized water to reach a certain concentration of the metals. The solutions obtained were used to impregnate the support materials (component 1).
- Catalysts prepared according to Examples 1 and 2 were used for the dehydrogenation of propane.
- the product gas was analyzed by on-line gas chromatography (HP 6890-N) with Porapak Q and molecular sieve 5 columns. The conversion of the starting material and the molar selectivities of reaction products were calculated from the input and output concentrations taking into account the volume changes in the dehydrogenation. The results obtained are shown in Table 2.

Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Olefinen sowie Katalysator
Beschreibung
(http://www.cbi.com/images/uploads/tech sheets/Catofin TechSheet 2014_f inal . pdf) Eine Dehydrierungsperiode dauert ca. 8 min.
No. 4190 DH.).
Rev. 114 (2014) 10613 gegeben.

In derselben Zeit entstanden 0,09 g Propen.
