- the electromagnetic switching valve 38 is a two-way valve, and selectively switches between the retard side passage 36, the advance side passage 37, the discharge passage 39a of the oil pump 39, and the drain passage 40 by an output signal from a controller (not shown). It is supposed to be.
- the controller detects the current engine operating state by inputting operation information signals from various sensors such as a crank angle sensor, an air flow meter, a water temperature sensor, a throttle valve opening sensor, etc., which are not shown in the figure.
- a control current is output to the electromagnetic coil of the electromagnetic switching valve 38 in accordance with the engine operating state.
- the valve timing control device configured as described above performs the following operations. First, when the engine is started, as shown in FIG. 3, the lock piston 30 is previously engaged in the lock hole 31 to restrain the vane member 7 at a position on the retard side optimum for starting. For this reason, when start-up is started by turning on the ignition switch, good startability is obtained by smooth cranking.

- the intake valve is controlled from the discharge passage 39a of the oil pump 39, the advance side passage 37 is communicated with the retard angle side passage 36 and the drain passage 40 at the same time.
- the control current is cut off from the controller to the electromagnetic switching valve 38, and the discharge passage 39a and the retard side passage 36 are communicated, and at the same time, the advance side passage 37 and the drain are connected.
- the passage 40 is communicated.
- the hydraulic oil in the advance oil chamber 10 is discharged and becomes low pressure, and the hydraulic oil is supplied into the retard oil chamber 9 and the inside becomes high pressure.
- the lock piston 30 is maintained in a state of coming out of the lock hole 31. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 3, the vane member 7 rotates counterclockwise with respect to the housing 5 to convert the relative rotation phase with respect to the timing pulley 1 to the retard side.
- the present embodiment is characterized in that the following configuration is added.
- the outer shape of the housing 5 is a substantially circular shape
- the outer shape of the timing pulley 1 is also formed in a substantially annular shape in accordance with this. External teeth that mesh with the timing belt are formed on the outer peripheral side of the timing pulley.
- the timing pulley 1 is located outside the outer peripheral part of the housing 5, and the housing 5 and the timing pulley 1 are divided and separated by a predetermined distance L (see FIG. 3).
- the inner peripheral side of the timing pulley 1 and the outer peripheral side of the housing body 11 are combined and integrated by four connecting beam portions 100a to 100d. Accordingly, the housing body 11 and the timing pulley 1 are not coupled between the circumferential intervals of the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d, and a space region Sr is formed.
- the housing main body 11, the timing pulley 1, and the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d can be integrally formed by a processing method such as cutting, forging, or drawing aluminum or aluminum alloy. Furthermore, it can be integrally formed by sintering metal powder such as iron powder, aluminum powder, or iron-based metal powder. It is also possible to integrally mold with resin.
- iron-based metal powder is sintered to integrally form the housing body 5, the timing pulley 1, and the connecting beam portions 100a to 100d.
- the iron-based metal powder is sintered and manufactured in this way, it is possible to easily make components of the valve timing control device having a complicated shape as in the present embodiment.
- the timing pulley 1 is disposed so as to overlap the outer periphery of the housing body 11. That is, the timing pulley 1 is positioned between the projection surface obtained by extending the outer surface of the front plate 12 and the outer surface of the rear plate 13 in the radial direction in a state where the front plate 12, the housing body 11, and the rear plate 13 are assembled. It is like that.
- the length of the timing pulley 1 in the axial direction can be ignored because the timing pulley 1 is positioned between the outer surface of the front plate 12 and the projection surface obtained by extending the outer surface of the rear plate 13 in the radial direction. Accordingly, the axial length of the valve timing control device can be shortened.
- the timing pulley 1 and the housing body 11 are integrally formed. Therefore, the axial length Lt of the timing pulley 1 and the axial length Lh of the housing body 11 are as follows. It is the same length. Thus, when the length Lt of the timing pulley 1 and the length Lh of the housing body 11 are made the same, the mold structure in the case of sintering can be simplified.
- the axial lengths of the four coupling beam portions 100a to 100d connecting the inner peripheral side of the timing pulley 1 and the outer peripheral side of the housing main body 11 are the length Lt of the timing pulley 1 and the length Lh of the housing main body 11. It may be the same. Thereby, the mold structure in the case of sintering can be simplified.
- the length of the four coupling beam portions 100a to 100d in the axial direction is shorter than the length Lt of the timing pulley 1 and the length Lh of the housing body 11.
- the weight of the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d can be reduced, and finally the weight of the valve timing control device can be reduced.
- the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d are coupled in the vicinity of the central portion in the axial direction of the inner peripheral portion of the timing pulley 1 and the outer peripheral portion of the housing main body 11, and the periphery of the joint portion is formed in an arc shape to reduce stress concentration. It has come to be.
- the connecting beam portions 100a to 100d are arranged in a region between the positions where the shoes 8 are arranged, and are connected to a thin portion of the housing body 11. Since the four shoes 8 have a large cross-sectional area, sufficient mechanical strength is ensured. However, since the outer peripheral area between the four shoes 8 is thin, the mechanical strength is not sufficient. It was thick.
- the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d are provided in the outer peripheral region between the four shoes 8, the mechanical strength of the outer peripheral region between the four shoes 8 is increased by the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d. Can do. Therefore, since the thickness of the outer peripheral part of the housing main body 11 can be reduced, the effect that the diameter of the housing 5 can be reduced or the weight can be reduced can be achieved.
- the weight distribution between each shoe 8 and the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d is good.
- the overall weight can be made uniform with the timing pulley 1, the front plate 12, the housing body 11, and the rear plate 13 assembled, and the weight balance can be improved.
- the maximum width vane 22 on which the lock piston 30 is disposed is heavier than the other vanes 23 to 25, so that the timing pulley 1, the front plate 12, the housing body 11, and the rear plate 13 are assembled.
- the center of gravity on the plane orthogonal to the axial direction is always close to the maximum width vane 22 side. If the center of gravity is too close to one side, the rotational movement is hindered, so it is necessary to bring the center of gravity as close to the center of rotation as possible.
- the coupling beam portions 100b and 100d are arranged close to the coupling beam portion 100c side to perform overlaying. Therefore, the center of gravity can be as close as possible to the center of rotation, and an increase in weight can be suppressed.
- the coupling beam portions 100b to 100d can be provided with a balance improving function for improving the weight balance in addition to the mechanical reinforcing function of the outer peripheral portion of the housing body 11.
- the timing pulley 1 has a problem that the area of the timing pulley 1 increases in shape and weight with respect to the housing 5. For this reason, in this embodiment, the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d are arranged at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction to form the space region Sr. As a result, the weight of the timing pulley 1 can be reduced.
- timing pulley 1 and the housing body 11 are integrally formed by the coupling beam portions 100a to 100d, there is no need to couple and fix the timing pulley and the rear plate with bolts as in Patent Document 1, and the number of parts is reduced. There is no problem of increasing the number of assembly steps associated with this.
- valve timing control device when the valve timing control device is assembled to the camshaft, since the housing 5 and the timing pulley 1 are integrated, the timing pulley 1 can be grasped and assembled to the camshaft, so that centering during assembly becomes easy. There is also an effect.
- the timing pulley is arranged at an interval on the outer peripheral portion of the housing forming the advance oil chamber and the retard oil chamber, and between the outer peripheral portion of the housing and the timing pulley.
- the outer periphery of the housing and the timing pulley are connected and integrally formed by the coupling beam, the outer periphery of the housing is reinforced by the coupling beam, so that the thickness of the outer periphery of the housing is reduced. can do.
- valve timing control device according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. Since the present embodiment is basically the same as the first embodiment, the description of the same operation and effect as the first embodiment will be omitted.
- FIG. 6 shows the most retarded angle state
- FIG. 7 shows the most advanced angle state
- a retard side stopper surface 200a and an advance side stopper surface 200b are formed on both side surfaces of the maximum width vane 22.
- a retarded-side contact surface 300a is formed on the wall surface of the shoe 8r that the retarded-side stopper surface 200a collides with and comes into contact with, while the advanced-angle side stopper surface 200b collides with and comes into contact with the wall surface of the shoe 8a with which the advanced-angle side stopper surface 200b comes into contact.
