- the steering torque detection device detects at least a part of the steering torque input to the steering torque transmission mechanism based on the torsional deformation of the torsional deformation easy portion.
- the present inventor has found that the leaning vehicle configured as in Patent Document 1 tends to lack the support rigidity for supporting the steering shaft. If the member that supports the steering shaft is simply increased in size, the support rigidity can be increased, but the vehicle will be increased in size. This problem is described in detail below.
- the leaning vehicle described in Patent Document 1 has a steering shaft that transmits the steering torque input from the right grip portion and the left grip portion to the front wheels.
- the handle bar provided with the right grip portion and the left grip portion is provided at the upper portion of the vehicle.
- the front wheels are provided at the lower part of the vehicle. For this reason, the steering shaft extends in the vertical direction of the body frame.
- the steering torque sensor detects the amount of twist generated in the steering shaft.
- the steering shaft is provided with a torsional deformation easy portion that is lower in rigidity than other portions and is easily torsionally deformed.
- the steering torque sensor detects the amount of torsion of the torsionally deformable portion.
- the steering torque sensor is configured to monitor a portion having high rigidity and is difficult to torsionally deform, it is difficult to accurately detect the steering torque.
- the parts with low rigidity are greatly twisted, and the parts with high rigidity monitored by the steering torque sensor are difficult to torsionally deform, and steering torque can be accurately applied. Difficult to detect. For this reason, the leaning vehicle of Patent Document 1 can detect the steering torque with high accuracy.
- the steering shaft of the leaning vehicle of Patent Document 1 is rotatably supported by the head pipe via a plurality of bearings. Unlike the leaning vehicle disclosed in Patent Document 1, when a steering shaft is supported by a single bearing, a large force acting on the bearing acts, and a large bearing that can withstand the force is required. It is.
- the leaning vehicle disclosed in Patent Document 1 accurately detects the steering torque while ensuring the necessary rigidity.
- the present inventor has found that, in a vehicle configured as in Patent Document 1, considering the bending force acting on the steering shaft, the support rigidity for supporting the steering shaft tends to be insufficient as follows. It was.
- Bending force acts on the steering shaft in addition to torsion caused by steering torque.
- a bending force acts on the steering shaft.
- a force in the front-rear direction acts on the lower portion of the steering shaft, so that the lower portion of the steering shaft is displaced relative to the portion above it.
- a configuration in which the steering shaft is rotatably supported by an upper bearing and a lower bearing provided below the upper bearing will be described as an example. It is assumed that a bending force acts on the lower part of such a steering shaft.
- the torsional deformation easy part for detecting the steering torque is provided below the lower bearing, the bending force is concentrated on the torsional deformation easy part, and the torsional deformation easy part is greatly deformed. Therefore, it is conceivable to secure rigidity by increasing the diameter of the torsionally deformable portion in an attempt to ensure rigidity against bending force at the torsionally deformable portion.
- the lower bearing is increased in size, or in order to increase the rigidity of the torsionally deformable portion, the portion of the other steering shaft is increased in size and the steering shaft is increased in size.
- the steering torque transmission mechanism of the leaning vehicle includes a torsional deformation easy portion that is easily torsionally deformed by the steering torque input from the right grip portion or the left grip portion.
- the torsional deformable portion is upstream of a portion of the steering shaft supported by the upstream bearing located upstream of the plurality of bearings in the steering torque transmission path from the right grip portion or the left grip portion to the front wheel, and the vehicle.
- the leaning vehicle of the present invention even if a bending force acts on the components constituting the steering torque transmission path, the bending force is supported by all the bearings. Bending force is unlikely to act on the torsionally deformable portion provided on the upstream side of the part. For this reason, it is not necessary to increase the rigidity of the torsionally deformable part, and it is not necessary to increase the rigidity of other parts more than necessary. For this reason, the enlargement of the leaning vehicle is suppressed.
- the torsional deformation easy part may be provided in the handlebar assembly.
- the handlebar assembly includes a handlebar portion, and a handlebar connecting portion that connects the handlebar portion to the steering shaft or the front wheel connecting portion,
- the torsional deformation easy part may be provided on the handlebar part.

Difficult to detect. For this reason, the leaning vehicle of Patent Document 1 can detect the steering torque with high accuracy.
- the steering shaft of the leaning vehicle of Patent Document 1 is rotatably supported on the head pipe by a plurality of bearings.
It was.
- bending force acts on the steering shaft.
- a bending force acts on the steering shaft.
- a force in the front-rear direction acts on the lower portion of the steering shaft, so that the lower portion of the steering shaft is largely displaced as compared with the portion above it.
- a bending force is applied to the steering shaft provided with the torsional deformation easy part, the bending is easy at the torsional deformation easy part, but the portion above the torsional deformation easy part is not greatly deformed.
- the steering torque transmission mechanism 10 of the vehicle 1 includes an outer cylindrical member 13 (an example of an easy torsion deformable portion) that is easily torsionally deformed by the steering torque input from the right grip portion 22 or the left grip portion 23. It is out.

- the auxiliary steering torque is input downstream from the portion 9. Since torque by the motor 70 is applied to the downstream side of the outer cylinder member 13, it is easy to detect the steering torque with high accuracy by the torque sensor 90 that detects the torque sensor based on the torsional deformation of the outer cylinder member 13.
- the output of the torque sensor 90 current can be supplied to the motor 70 to generate motor torque to assist the driver's steering.

For this reason, if the handlebar part 26 is rotated, the torque sensor 90 and the head pipe 8 may interfere with each other. For this reason, in order to avoid the interference of the torque sensor 90 and the head pipe 8, there is a possibility that a restriction on the degree of freedom in designing the vehicle occurs.
- At least a part of the torque sensor 90 is from the lower end of the top bridge 50 positioned above the head pipe 8 in a front view of the upright and non-steered vehicle. Is also located above. For this reason, even if the handlebar portion 26 rotates, the torque sensors 90 are not easily interfered with the top bridge 50 because they are provided at positions separated from each other in the vertical direction, and the degree of freedom in designing the vehicle is high.
