본 발명은 편광판용 점착제 조성물에 관한 것이다.
액정표시장치(LCD), 전계발광(EL)표시장치, 플라즈마표시장치(PDP), 전계방출표시장치(FED) 등과 같은 각종 화상표시장치에 사용되고 있는 편광판은 일반적으로 폴리비닐알콜계(polyvinyl alcohol, PVA) 필름에 요오드계 화합물 또는 이색성 편광물질이 흡착 배향된 편광자를 포함하며, 편광자의 한 면에는 편광자 보호필름이 순서대로 적층되어 있으며, 편광자의 다른 한 면에는 편광자 보호필름, 액정셀과 접합되는 점착제층과 이형필름이 순서대로 적층된 다층 구조를 갖는다.
이러한 구조의 편광판을 구성하는 편광자는 PVA계 필름을 팽윤, 염색, 연신, 가교, 수세 및 건조하는 복잡한 공정을 통하여 제조되는데, 이러한 복잡한 공정 또는 핸들링 과정 중에 응력이 발생하게 되고 연신된 편광자의 경우 그 연신 방향(MD 방향)과 평행한 방향으로 크랙(crack)이 쉽게 유발된다. 뿐만 아니라, 편광판은 반복적인 고온 및 저온환경 하에서 수축과 팽창이 반복적으로 이루어지게 되어 응력이 발생하고, 이로 인해 크랙이 쉽게 유발된다.
특히, 최근에는 각종 화상표시장치가 점차 대형화되고 있으며, 이에 따라 사용되는 편광자 및 편광판도 대형화되고 있다. 따라서, 공정시 핸들링 과정에서 취급이 더욱 불리해지고, 사용 중 반복적인 고온 및 저온환경 하에서 발생되는 변형량은 더욱 증가하게 되어 내구성이 우수한 편광판이 요구되고 있다.
편광판에 내구성을 부여하기 위한 방법으로, 일본공개특허 평11-29683호는 PVA계 필름의 제조시 전분과 당류를 첨가하여 PVA계 필름 자체의 인성을 향상시키는 방법을 개시하고 있다. 그러나, 전분과 당류가 첨가된 PVA계 필름의 경우, 광학소재용으로는 적합하지 않으며 팽윤시 상기 성분의 일부가 유출되어 물성이 저하되는 문제점이 있다.

본 발명의 점착제 조성물은 편광판의 점착에 사용되어, 편광판의 열충격 내구성을 현저히 개선한다. 이에 따라, 열충격 내구성 시험시의 편광판의 파손을 억제하고, 가혹 조건에 장시간 노출된 후에도 우수한 점착력을 유지할 수 있다.
본 발명은 점착층의 -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 75% 내지 95%으로써, 편광판의 열충격 내구성을 현저히 개선하여, 열충격 내구성 시험시의 편광판의 파손을 억제하고, 우수한 점착력을 유지할 수 있는 편광판용 점착제 조성물에 관한 것이다.
이하 본 발명을 상세히 설명하기로 한다.
본 발명의 편광판용 점착제 조성물은 점착층의 -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 75% 내지 95%이다.
점착층의 -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 75% 미만인 점착제 조성물의 경우, 편광판의 액정 패널에의 점착시에 사용하면 편광판의 열충격 내구성이 저하되어, 열충격 실험시에 편광판이 파손될 수 있다. 또한, 95% 초과이면 점착 성능이 현저히 저하된다.
응력완화에서 일정한 변형(strain) γ0를 주고 나서, 시간 t후의 응력을 σ(t)라고 했을 때 σ(t)=γ0G(t)라 쓸 수 있는데, 본 명세서에서 G(t)를 완화 탄성률이라고 한다.
완화 탄성률 변화율은 통상의 방법으로 측정될 수 있다.
구체적인 예를 들자면 먼저, 이형 필름 상에 점착제 조성물을 도포하고 경화시켜, 5㎛ 내지 50㎛, 바람직하게는 15㎛ 내지 30㎛의 두께로 점착층을 형성하고, 점착층만을 이형 필름으로부터 분리하여 지름 15 내지 30mm의 원형으로 시편을 준비한다. 이후에 레오미터(예를 들어, Anton Paar사의 MCR-302)로 수직항력(Normal force) 1N, 전단응력(shear stress) 70kPa로 설정하여, 상기 시편에 대해 -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 초기 완화 탄성률을 측정하고, -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 4시간 방치 후의 완화 탄성률을 측정하여 그 변화율을 얻을 수 있다.
점착층의 두께가 5㎛ 미만 또는 50㎛ 초과시에는 완화 탄성률 변화율 측정의 신뢰성이 떨어져, 전술한 완화 탄성률 변화율과 열충격 내구성과의 관계가 달라질 수 있다. 즉, 두께가 5㎛ 내지 50㎛인 경우, 전술한 완화 탄성률 변화율과 열충격 내구성과의 관계에 대한 신뢰성이 우수하다.
또한, 상기 점착층은 동일한 방법으로 측정한, 70℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 40% 내지 70%일 수 있다. 점착층의 70℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 40% 내지 70%인 점착제 조성물의 경우 열충격 내구성, 내열 내구성이 우수하여, 편광판의 액정패널에의 점착시에 사용하면 편광판과 액정패널의 크랙, 들뜸 등 방지 효과가 우수하다.
본 발명의 점착제 조성물은 상기 완화 탄성률 변화율을 만족하는 한, 그 구체적인 조성은 특별히 한정되지 않는다. 예를 들면 아크릴계 공중합체, 가교제 및 실란커플링제를 포함할 수 있다.
아크릴계 공중합체는 점착 수지로서, 탄소수 1-12의 알킬기를 갖는 (메타)아크릴레이트 단량체 및 가교제와 가교 가능한 관능기를 갖는 중합성 단량체의 공중합체일 수 있다. 여기서, (메타)아크릴레이트는 아크릴레이트 및 메타크릴레이트를 의미한다.

탄소수 1-12의 알킬기를 갖는 (메타)아크릴레이트 단량체는 아크릴계 공중합체의 제조에 사용되는 총 단량체 100중량%에 대하여 96 내지 99중량%로 포함되는 것이 바람직하다. 함량이 96중량% 미만인 경우 점착력이 충분하지 못하고 이형필름 박리력 항진 문제가 발생할 수 있으며, 99중량% 초과인 경우 응집력이 저하되어 내구성이 떨어질 수 있다. 보다 바람직하게는 96 내지 98중량%로 포함될 수 있다.
가교 가능한 관능기를 갖는 중합성 단량체는 화학 결합에 의해 점착제 조성물의 응집력 또는 점착 강도를 보강하여 내구성과 절단성을 부여하기 위한 성분으로서, 아미드기 함유 단량체, 카르복시기 함유 단량체, 히드록시기 함유 단량체 등을 들 수 있다.
아미드기 함유 단량체로는 (메타)아크릴아미드, N-이소프로필아크릴아미드, N-3차부틸아크릴아미드 등을 들 수 있으며, 이들은 단독 또는 2종 이상 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.

아크릴계 공중합체는 겔투과크로마토그래피(Gel permeation chromatography, GPC)에 의해 측정된 중량평균분자량(폴리스티렌 환산, Mw)이 20만 내지 150만인 것이 바람직하며, 보다 40만 내지 120만인 것이 좋다. 중량평균분자량이 20만 미만인 경우 공중합체 간의 응집력이 부족하여 점착 내구성에 문제를 야기할 수 있고, 150만 초과인 경우 도공 시 공정성을 확보하기 위하여 다량의 희석 용매를 필요로 할 수 있다.
가교제는 공중합체를 적절히 가교함으로써 점착제의 응집력을 강화하기 위한 성분으로서, 당 분야에 공지된 이소시아네이트계가 제한없이 사용될 수 있으며, 바람직하게는 이소시아네이트계 가교제를 사용할 수 있다.
이소시아네이트계 가교제로는 톨릴렌디이소시아네이트, 자일렌디이소시아네이트, 2,4-디페닐메탄디이소시아네트, 4,4-디페닐메탄디이소시아네트, 헥사메틸렌디이소시아네이트, 이소포론디이소시아네이트, 테트라메틸자일렌디이소시아네이트, 나프탈렌디이소시아네이트 등의 디이소시아네이트 화합물; 트리메틸올프로판 등의 다가 알콜계 화합물 1몰에 위 디이소시아네이트 화합물 3몰을 반응시킨 부가체, 위 디이소시아네이트 화합물 3몰을 자기 축합시킨 이소시아누레이트체, 위 디이소시아네이트 화합물 3몰 중 2몰로부터 얻어지는 디이소시아네이트 우레아에 나머지 1몰의 디이소시아네이트가 축합된 뷰렛체, 트리페닐메탄트리이소시아네이트, 메틸렌비스트리이소시아네이트 등의 3개의 관능기를 함유하는 다관능 이소시아네이트 화합물 등을 들 수 있다. 이들은 단독 또는 2종 이상 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.
또한, 다관능성 이소시아네이트계 가교제와 함께 헥사메틸올멜라민, 헥사메톡시메틸멜라민, 헥사부톡시메틸멜라민 등과 같은 멜라민계 화합물을 단독 또는 2종 이상 혼합하여 추가로 사용할 수 있다.
이소시아네이트계 가교제는 고형분 함량을 기준으로 아크릴계 공중합체 100중량부에 대하여 0.1 내지 15중량부로 포함되는 것이 바람직하다. 함량이 0.1중량부 미만인 경우 부족한 가교도로 인해 응집력이 작아지게 되어 들뜸과 같은 내구성 저하가 유발되고 절단성을 해칠 수 있으며, 15중량부 초과인 경우 과다 가교반응에 의해 잔류응력 완화가 어려울 수 있다.
실란커플링제의 종류는 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예컨대 비닐클로로실란, 비닐트리메톡시실란, 비닐트리에톡시실란, 2-(3,4-에폭시시클로헥실)에틸트리메톡시실란, 3-글리시독시프로필트리메톡시실란, 3-글리시독시프로필메틸디에톡시실란, 3-글리시독시프로필디에톡시실란, 3-글리시독시프로필트리에톡시실란, p-스티릴트리메톡시실란, 3-메타크릴옥시프로필트리에톡시실란, 3-메타크릴옥시프로필트리메톡시실란, 3-메타크릴옥시프로필메틸디메톡시실란, 3-메타크릴옥시프로필메틸디에톡시실란, 3-아크릴옥시프로필트리메톡시실란, N-2-(아미노에틸)-3-아미노프로필메틸디메톡시실란, N-2-(아미노에틸)-3-아미노프로필트리메톡시실란, N-2-(아미노에틸)-3-아미노프로필메틸트리에톡시실란, 3-아미노프로필트리메톡시실란, 3-아미노프로필트리에톡시실란, 3-트리에톡시실릴-N-(1,3-디메틸부틸리덴)프로필아민, N-페닐-3-아미노프로필트리메톡시실란, 3-클로로프로필트리메톡시실란, 3-머캅토프로필메틸디메톡시실란, 3-머캅토프로필트리메톡시실란, 비스(트리에톡시실릴프로필)테트라설파이드, 3-이소시아네이토프로필트리에톡시실란 등을 들 수 있다. 이들은 단독 또는 2종 이상 혼합하여 사용할 수 있다.
실란커플링제는 고형분 함량을 기준으로 아크릴계 공중합체 100중량부에 대하여 0.001 내지 10중량부, 바람직하게 0.005 내지 5중량부로 포함되는 것이 좋다. 함량이 10중량부 초과인 경우 내구성이 저하될 수 있다.
상기와 같은 성분 이외에, 점착제 조성물은 용도에 따라 요구되는 점착력, 응집력, 점성, 탄성률, 유리전이온도 등을 조절하기 위하여, 점착성 부여 수지, 산화방지제, 대전방지제, 부식방지제, 레벨링제, 표면윤활제, 염료, 안료, 소포제, 충전제, 광안정제 등의 첨가제를 더 포함할 수 있다.
본 발명의 점착제 조성물은 편광판의 액정패널에의 점착에 사용되는 것으로서, 편광판은 통상적으로 편광자와 그 양면에 부착된 편광자 보호필름을 포함하는바, 편광자 보호필름과 액정패널을 점착하는데 사용될 수 있다. 상기 편광자 보호필름이 아크릴계 보호필름, 구체적으로 폴리메틸(메타)아크릴레이트인 경우 열충격 내구성 개선 효과를 극대화할 수 있다는 점에서 바람직하다.
또한, 본 발명은 적어도 일면에 상기 점착제 조성물로 형성된 점착층을 구비한 편광판을 제공한다.
본 발명의 편광판은 상기 점착제 조성물로 형성된 점착층을 구비하여, 열충격 내구성이 현저히 개선된다.
점착층의 두께는 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들면 5㎛ 내지 50㎛일 수 있다. 두께가 5㎛ 미만이면 점착력이 충분치 않아 접합 부위가 들뜰 수 있고, 50㎛ 초과이면 점착층 내에 용매가 잔류할 수 있어 아웃가스 발생(outgassing), 접합 부위의 들뜸 등의 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 바람직하게는 15㎛ 내지 30㎛일 수 있다.
본 발명의 편광판은 편광자 및 그 적어도 일면에 부착된 보호필름을 포함한다.
편광자는 폴리비닐알코올 필름, 탈수 처리된 폴리비닐알코올 필름, 탈염산 처리된 폴리비닐알코올 필름 등의 폴리비닐알코올계 필름을 팽윤, 염색, 가교, 연신, 수세, 건조하는 등의 단계를 포함하는 공정에 따라 제조된 당 분야에서 통상적으로 사용되는 편광자일 수 있다.
편광자의 두께는 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들면 10 내지 150㎛일 수 있다.
보호필름으로는 투명성, 기계적 강도, 열안정성, 수분차폐성, 등방성 등이 우수한 필름이라면 특별히 제한되지 않는다. 구체적으로, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트, 폴리에틸렌이소프탈레이트, 폴리부틸렌테레프탈레이트 등의 폴리에스테르계 필름; 디아세틸셀룰로오스, 트리아세틸셀룰로오스 등의 셀룰로오스계 필름; 폴리카보네이트계 필름; 폴리메틸(메타)아크릴레이트, 폴리에틸(메타)아크릴레이트 등의 아크릴계 필름; 폴리스티렌, 아크릴로니트릴-스티렌 공중합체 등의 스티렌계 필름; 시클로올레핀, 시클로올레핀 공중합체, 폴리노르보르넨, 폴리프로필렌, 폴리에틸렌, 에틸렌프로필렌 공중합체 등의 폴리올레핀계 필름; 염화비닐계 필름; 나일론, 방향족 폴리아미드 등의 폴리아미드계 필름; 이미드계 필름; 술폰계 필름; 폴리에테르케톤계 필름; 황화 폴리페닐렌계 필름; 비닐알코올계 필름; 염화비닐리덴계 필름; 비닐부티랄계 필름; 알릴레이트계 필름; 폴리옥시메틸렌계 필름; 우레탄계 필름; 에폭시계 필름; 실리콘계 필름 등을 들 수 있다. 이들 중에서도 셀룰로오스계 필름, 아크릴계 필름이 편광특성, 내구성 등의 측면에서 바람직하고, 아크릴계 필름이 점착층의 응력 완화에 의한 열충격 내구성 개선 효과 극대화 측면에서 가장 바람직하다. 또한, 보호필름은 위상차 기능과 같은 광학 보상 기능을 겸비한 것일 수도 있다.
보호필름의 두께는 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들면 10 내지 200㎛일 수 있고, 바람직하게는 10 내지 150㎛일 수 있다.
보호필름은 편광판으로 사용될 때 편광자의 일면에 접합되는데, 편광자와 접합되는 면에 접합력 향상을 위한 접합 용이 처리가 수행된 것일 수 있다.
접합 용이 처리는 편광자와 보호필름 간의 접합력을 향상시킬 수 있는 것이라면 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 예를 들면 프라이머 처리, 플라즈마 처리, 코로나 처리 등의 드라이 처리; 알칼리 처리(비누화 처리) 등의 화학 처리; 저압 UV처리 등을 들 수 있다.
보호필름은 편광자의 일면 또는 양면에 부착될 수 있고, 보호필름이 편광자의 일면에만 부착되는 경우에는 타면에는 광학기능층이 부착될 수 있다.
광학기능층은 예를 들면 하드코팅층, 위상차층, 반사방지층, 대전방지층 등일 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
점착층은 편광판의 적어도 일면에 구비되는 것으로, 예를 들면, 편광자의 일면에만 보호필름이 부착된 경우 보호필름 상에, 편광자의 양면에 보호필름이 부착된 경우 일측 또는 양측의 보호필름 상에, 편광자의 일면에는 보호필름, 타면에는 광학기능층이 부착된 경우 보호필름 또는 광학기능층 상에 구비될 수 있으나, 이에 제한되는 것은 아니다.
또한, 본 발명은 상기 편광판을 구비한 화상표시장치를 제공한다.
본 발명의 편광판은 통상의 액정 표시 장치뿐만 아니라, 전계 발광 표시 장치, 플라스마 표시 장치, 전계 방출 표시 장치 등 각종 화상 표시 장치에 적용이 가능하다.
이하, 본 발명의 이해를 돕기 위하여 바람직한 실시예를 제시하나, 이들 실시예는 본 발명을 예시하는 것일 뿐 첨부된 특허청구범위를 제한하는 것이 아니며, 본 발명의 범주 및 기술사상 범위 내에서 실시예에 대한 다양한 변경 및 수정이 가능함은 당업자에게 있어서 명백한 것이며, 이러한 변형 및 수정이 첨부된 특허청구범위에 속하는 것도 당연한 것이다.
제조예 1. 아크릴계 공중합체(A-1)의 제조
질소가스가 환류되고 온도조절이 용이하도록 냉각장치를 설치한 1 L의 반응기에 n-부틸아크릴레이트(BA) 85중량부, 메틸아크릴레이트(MA) 8중량부, 2-히드록시에틸아크릴레이트(2-HEA) 2.0중량부로 이루어진 단량체 혼합물을 투입한 후, 용제로 아세톤 100중량부를 투입하였다. 그 다음 산소를 제거하기 위하여 질소가스를 1시간 동안 퍼징한 후, 62℃로 유지하였다. 상기 혼합물을 균일하게 한 후, 반응개시제로 아조비스이소부티로니트릴(AIBN) 0.07중량부를 투입하고, 6시간 동안 반응시켜 중량평균분자량이 약 100만인 아크릴계 공중합체를 제조하였다.
제조예 2. 아크릴계 공중합체(A-2)의 제조
질소가스가 환류되고 온도조절이 용이하도록 냉각장치를 설치한 1 L의 반응기에 n-부틸아크릴레이트(BA) 88.5중량부, 에틸아크릴레이트(EA) 10.2중량부, 2-히드록시에틸메타크릴레이트(2-HEMA) 1.3중량부로 이루어진 단량체 혼합물을 투입한 후, 용제로 아세톤 100중량부를 투입하였다. 그 다음 산소를 제거하기 위하여 질소가스를 1시간 동안 퍼징한 후, 62℃로 유지하였다. 상기 혼합물을 균일하게 한 후, 반응개시제로 아조비스이소부티로니트릴(AIBN) 0.07중량부를 투입하고, 6시간 동안 반응시켜 중량평균분자량이 약 100만인 아크릴계 공중합체를 제조하였다.
제조예 3. 아크릴계 공중합체(A-3)의 제조
질소가스가 환류되고 온도조절이 용이하도록 냉각장치를 설치한 1 L의 반응기에 n-부틸아크릴레이트(BA) 98.6중량부, 2-히드록시에틸아크릴레이트(2-HEA) 1.0중량부, 아크릴산(AA) 0.4중량부로 이루어진 단량체 혼합물을 투입한 후, 용제로 아세톤 100중량부를 투입하였다. 그 다음 산소를 제거하기 위하여 질소가스를 1시간 동안 퍼징한 후, 62℃로 유지하였다. 상기 혼합물을 균일하게 한 후, 반응개시제로 아조비스이소부티로니트릴(AIBN) 0.07중량부를 투입하고, 6시간 동안 반응시켜 중량평균분자량이 약 100만인 아크릴계 공중합체를 제조하였다.
제조예 4. 아크릴계 공중합체(A-4)의 제조
질소가스가 환류되고 온도조절이 용이하도록 냉각장치를 설치한 1 L의 반응기에 n-부틸아크릴레이트(BA) 46중량부, 2-에틸히드록시아크릴레이트(2-EHA) 50중량부, 2-히드록시에틸아크릴레이트(2-HEA) 4.0중량부로 이루어진 단량체 혼합물을 투입한 후, 용제로 아세톤 100중량부를 투입하였다. 그 다음 산소를 제거하기 위하여 질소가스를 1시간 동안 퍼징한 후, 62℃로 유지하였다. 상기 혼합물을 균일하게 한 후, 반응개시제로 아조비스이소부티로니트릴(AIBN) 0.07중량부를 투입하고, 6시간 동안 반응시켜 중량평균분자량이 약 100만인 아크릴계 공중합체를 제조하였다.
실시예 및 비교예
(1) 점착제 조성물
하기 표 1에 나타낸 바와 같은 성분 및 함량으로 혼합한 후 코팅성을 고려하여 적정의 농도(에틸아세테이트 사용, 고형분 농도 15%)로 희석하여 점착제 조성물을 제조하였다. 이때, 함량은 중량부이다.

(2) 편광판의 제조
1)편광자의 제조
중합도가 2,400이고, 비누화도가 99.9몰% 이상인 60㎛ 두께의 PVA 필름을 건식으로 약 5배로 일축연신하고, 긴장 상태를 유지한 채로 60℃의 증류수에 1분 동안 침지한 후 요오드/요오드화칼륨/증류수의 중량비가 0.05/5/100인 28℃의 수용액에서 60초 동안 침지하였다. 그 후, 요오드화칼륨/붕산/증류수의 중량비가 8.5/8.5/100인 72℃ 수용액에 300초 동안 침지하고, 26℃의 증류수로 20초 동안 세정한 후 65℃에서 건조하여 폴리비닐알콜계 필름에 요오드가 흡착 배향된 편광자를 제조하였다. 제조된 편광자의 두께는 25㎛이다.
2) 편광판의 제조
상기 편광자의 양면에 수계 접착제 조성물(물 100중량부에 아세토아세틸렌 변성 폴리비닐알콜 수지(Z200, (주)일본합성화학) 3중량부와 글리옥살 가교제 0.3중량부를 첨가하여 제조)을 건조 후 두께가 0.5㎛가 되도록 스프레이 방법으로 도포하고, 두께 60㎛의 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트 보호 필름(PMMA)를 닙롤을 이용하여 접합하고 60℃의 온도에서 5분 동안 건조하여 크기 100mm x 100mm의 편광판을 제조하였다.
실시예 및 비교예의 점착제 조성물을 실리콘 이형제가 코팅된 이형필름 상에 도포하고 100℃에서 1분 동안 건조시켜 두께가 25㎛가 되도록 점착층을 형성하고, 점착층 상에 이형제가 코팅된 이형필름을 접합하여 점착 필름을 제조하였다. 상기 점착 필름 일면의 이형필름을 박리하여 점착층을 편광판 일면에 점착하고, 나머지 일면의 이형필름을 박리하여 점착층을 유리판에 점착하였다.
실험예
1. 점착층의 완화 탄성률의 변화율 측정
실시예 및 비교예의 점착제 조성물을 실리콘 이형제가 코팅된 이형필름 상에 도포하고 100℃에서 1분 동안 건조시켜 두께가 25㎛가 되도록 점착층을 형성하고, 점착층 상에 이형제가 코팅된 이형필름을 접합하여 점착 필름을 제조하였다.
상기의 점착층을 각각의 이형필름에서 분리하여 레오미터(Anton Paar社, MCR-302)를 이용하여 각 온도(-20℃, -10℃, 0℃, 70℃)에서의 완화 탄성률을 측정하였다. 수직항력(Normal Force)는 1N, 전단응력(Shear stress)은 70kPa로 설정하였다. 측정 초기 및 4시간 경과 후의 완화 탄성률을 얻어, 그 변화율을 하기 표 2에 나타내었다.
2. 열충격 내구성 평가
제조된 편광판을 열충격 오븐(ESPEC社, TSE-11A)에 투입하여, -20,70℃ 100싸이클의 열충격 내구성 실험후의 편광판의 상태를 확인하여, 하기 기준에 따라 내구성을 평가하였다.
1) 접합면의 들뜸: 유리판/점착제/편광판 접합체의 접합면에서의 기포/들뜸을 육안으로 확인
○: 시인되지 않음
△: 기포 시인
Ⅹ: 전면 들뜸 발생
2) 편광판의 MD방향 깨짐: 유리판/점착제/편광판 접합체의 뒷면에 편광판을 MD/TD방향 수직으로 위치시킨 후 백라이트 위에 올려 편광판 깨짐에 의한 빛샘을 육안으로 확인
○: 시인되지 않음
△: 편광판 내부 미세 크랙에 의한 빛샘 시인(크랙 길이 1cm 이하)
Ⅹ: MD 방향 전체로 깨짐에 의한 빛샘 시인

상기 표 2를 참조하면, 실시예 1 내지 3의 점착제 조성물로 형성한 점착층은 -20℃, -10℃ 및 0℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률의 변화율이 모두 75% 내지 95% 범위에 포함되어, 접합면의 들뜸이나 편광판의 깨짐이 관찰되지 않았다.
그러나, 점착층의 완화 탄성률 변화율이 상기 범위를 벗어나는 비교예 1 내지 7의 점착제 조성물은 접합면이 들뜨거나 편광판의 깨짐이 확인되었다.

Claims (7)

  1. 점착층의 -20℃ 내지 0℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 75% 내지 95%인, 편광판용 점착제 조성물.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 점착층은 두께 5 내지 50㎛인, 편광판용 점착제 조성물.
  3. 청구항 1에 있어서, 아크릴계 편광자 보호필름과 액정패널의 점착에 사용되는, 편광판용 점착제 조성물.
  4. 청구항 1에 있어서, 상기 점착층은 70℃에서 4시간 방치 전후 완화 탄성률(relaxation modulus)의 변화율이 40% 내지 70%인, 편광판용 점착제 조성물.
  5. 적어도 일면에 청구항 1 내지 4 중 어느 한 항의 점착제 조성물로 형성된 점착층을 구비한 편광판.
  6. 청구항 5에 있어서, 편광자의 적어도 일면에 부착된 보호필름 및 적어도 일측의 보호필름 상에 형성된 점착층을 구비하며, 상기 보호필름은 아크릴계 필름인, 편광판.
  7. 청구항 5의 편광판을 구비한 화상표시장치.
