Abstract
Description
特許文献1には、関連する技術として、輝度ムラや色ムラの補正に関する技術が記載されている。
そのため、一般的なユーザ環境においてディスプレイの輝度ムラを簡便に補正できる技術が求められていた。
図1は、本発明の第一の実施形態による表示装置1の一例を示す図である。

第一の実施形態による表示装置1は、図1で示すように、少なくとも、階調補正マップ生成装置10と、映像入力部106と、表示制御部107と、表示部108と、を備える。

表示部108は、補正した映像信号に応じた映像を表示する画面を備える。
ユーザ測定ガンマ特性(第2のガンマ特性)は、後述する第1の時点よりも後の第2の時点に取得した表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置における輝度と、映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す。なお、ガンマ特性とは、入力された映像信号の階調と表示部108の画面の輝度との対応関係を示すデータの集合である。
図2は、本発明の第二の実施形態による表示装置1aの一例を示す図である。
図2で示すように、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aは、階調補正マップ生成装置10と、映像入力部106と、表示制御部107と、表示部108と、記憶部109aと、記憶部109bと、を備える。
ここで、階調補正基本マップは、表示部108の画面の中の複数の位置と、その複数の位置における映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す。また、基本ガンマ特性(第1のガンマ特性)は、第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点における表示部108の画面の特定の位置若しくはその近傍の輝度と、複数の位置における映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す。
なお、輝度ムラマップ生成部101は、表示部108の画面の中の位置に対応する階調補正基本マップのデータ及び基本ガンマ特性のデータが存在しない場合、階調補正基本マップのデータ及び基本ガンマ特性のデータを線形補間などで補間したデータを用いて階調を輝度に変換する。
表示制御部107は、記憶部109bが記憶する階調補正マップに基づいて映像入力部106から入力した映像信号の階調を補正する。表示制御部107は、補正した映像信号を用いて表示部108に映像を表示させる。
記憶部109aは、階調補正マップ生成装置10の処理に必要な種々のデータを記憶する。例えば、記憶部109aは、階調補正基本マップを記憶する階調補正基本マップ記憶部110a、基本ガンマ特性を記憶する基本ガンマ特性記憶部110b及びユーザ測定ガンマ特性を記憶するユーザ測定ガンマ特性記憶部110cを備える。例えば、記憶部109aは、フラッシュメモリ、EEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory)などの不揮発性記憶装置である。
記憶部109bは、表示制御部107の処理に必要な種々のデータを記憶する。例えば、記憶部109bは、階調補正マップを記憶する。例えば、記憶部109bは、RAM(Random Access Memory)などの揮発性記憶装置である。
階調補正基本マップは、図3で示すように、複数の階調毎、複数の位置毎の輝度ムラを補正するための階調の補正値の集合である。この階調補正基本マップは、製造時や工場調整時等の第1の時点に測定した輝度ムラをなくすための階調の補正値である。例えば、複数の階調は、図3で示すように、0階調から255階調の間を64階調毎にとった255階調、192階調、128階調、64階調、0階調である。また、複数の位置は、表示部108の画面の左上の角の座標を原点とし、x軸方向に等間隔に20のx座標をとり、y軸方向に11のy座標をとり、x座標とy座標との組み合わせが示す画面上の位置である。
なお、階調の補正値は、各階調に対する絶対値で示した値であってもよいし、各階調からの減じる階調値で示した値であってもよい。例えば、図3で示す階調の補正値が絶対値で示した値であるものとする。この場合、255階調で、表示部108の画面の中の位置がx座標x1、y座標y1で示される位置での階調の補正値は、255階調を230階調に変更する補正値である。階調の補正値が各階調から減じる階調値で示した値でこれと同等の補正を行う場合、255階調で、表示部108の画面の中の位置がx座標x1、y座標y1で示される位置での階調の補正値は、-25階調となる。
また、階調補正基本マップは、R(Red)、G(Green)、B(Blue)のそれぞれの単一色に対して作成されてもよい。このように作成された階調補正基本マップを用いると、表示部108の画面における輝度ムラと色ムラを補正することができる。また、階調補正基本マップは、モノクロの単一色に対して作成されてもよい。このように作成された階調補正基本マップを用いると、表示部108の画面における輝度ムラのみが補正できる。
図4において、横軸は映像信号の階調である。また、縦軸は輝度である。
ガンマ特性は、入力された映像信号の階調と表示部108の画面の輝度との対応関係を示すデータである。
基本ガンマ特性は、階調補正基本マップを作成した第1の時点の表示部108の画面の中の各位置におけるガンマ特性である。すなわち、基本ガンマ特性は、表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置に対して図4で示す基本ガンマ特性を記憶している。また、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性は、第1の時点よりも後の第2の時点に取得した表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置における輝度を測定し取得されるガンマ特性である。すなわち、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性は、第1の時点よりも後の第2の時点にユーザが測定した表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置に対して図4で示すガンマ特性を記憶している。ここで、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性は、ユーザが表示部108の画面の中の1つの位置に対して測定したガンマ特性であってよい。なお、ユーザがユーザ測定ガンマ特性を測定する表示部108の画面の中の位置は、輝度ムラの補正の程度の観点から、基本ガンマ特性を測定した表示部108の画面の中の位置と同一であることが好ましい。
図5において、x軸は表示部108の画面の横方向の座標軸である。また、y軸は表示部108の画面の縦方向の座標軸である。原点は表示部108の画面の左上の角であり、x座標とy座標は表示部108の画面上の座標である。また、輝度はx座標とy座標とで示される画面上の位置における輝度を示す。
輝度ムラマップは、図3で示した階調補正基本マップと、図4で示した基本ガンマ特性とを作成した第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点の表示部108の画面の中の各位置の輝度を示すデータの集合である。一般的に、表示部108が液晶パネルの場合、図5で示すように、画面の中央部が明るくなる傾向にある。
輝度ムラマップ生成部101は、輝度ムラマップに基づいて作成した階調補正基本マップと基本ガンマ特性とから輝度ムラマップを算出する。
なお、図5では、輝度ムラマップを視覚的に示したが、実際には輝度ムラマップは画像データではなくデータテーブルであり、図3で示した階調補正基本マップのようにx座標とy座標とに関連付けた輝度のデータとして記憶部109aに記録される。
図6において、x軸は表示部108の画面の横方向の座標軸である。また、y軸は表示部108の画面の縦方向の座標軸である。原点は表示部108の画面の左上の角であり、x座標とy座標は表示部108の画面上の座標である。また、輝度補正量はx座標とy座標とで示される画面上の位置における無補正から完全補正の間を0パーセントから100パーセントで表した輝度補正量である。
輝度補正マップは、表示部108の画面の中の各位置の輝度補正量と表示部108の画面の中の各位置との対応関係を示すデータの集合である。
輝度補正マップ生成部103は、輝度ムラマップ生成部101が算出した輝度ムラマップと、算出した目標輝度ムラマップとに基づいて、輝度補正マップを生成する。
なお、図6では、輝度補正マップを視覚的に示したが、実際には輝度補正マップは画像データではなくデータテーブルであり、図3で示した階調補正基本マップのようにx座標とy座標とに関連付けた輝度補正量のデータとして記憶部に記録される。
階調補正マップは、図7で示すように、複数の階調毎、複数の位置毎の輝度ムラを補正するための階調の補正値の集合である。
階調補正マップは、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点における経時的な輝度ムラや表示装置1aの周囲温度の変化に起因する輝度ムラをなくすための階調の補正値である。例えば、複数の階調は、図7で示すように、0階調から255階調の間を64階調毎にとった255階調、192階調、128階調、64階調、0階調である。また、複数の位置は、表示部108の画面の左上の角の座標を原点とし、x軸方向に等間隔に20のx座標をとり、y軸方向に11のy座標をとり、x座標とy座標との組み合わせが示す画面上の位置である。
階調補正マップ生成部105は、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性と輝度補正マップとに基づいて生成する。なお、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性は、製造時や工場調整時等の第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置に対してユーザが測定したガンマ特性である。
なお、階調の補正値は、各階調に対する絶対値で示した値であってもよいし、各階調からの減じる階調値で示した値であってもよい。
また、階調補正基本マップは、R(Red)、G(Green)、B(Blue)のそれぞれの単一色に対して作成されてもよい。このように作成された階調補正基本マップを用いると、表示部108の画面における輝度ムラと色ムラを補正することができる。また、階調補正基本マップは、モノクロの単一色に対して作成されてもよい。このように作成された階調補正基本マップを用いると、表示部108の画面における輝度ムラのみが補正できる。
図8において、x軸は表示部108の画面の横方向の座標軸である。また、y軸は表示部108の画面の縦方向の座標軸である。原点は表示部108の画面の左上の角であり、x座標とy座標は表示部108の画面上の座標である。また、輝度はx座標とy座標とで示される画面上の位置における輝度を示す。
輝度ムラ補正後の表示部108の画面全体における輝度の分布は、表示制御部107が映像入力部106から入力した映像信号の階調を図7で示した階調補正マップに基づいて補正した場合の輝度の分布である。
輝度は、画面全体で揃い、輝度ムラが補正されたことを意味する。
次に、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aの処理について説明する。
例えば、製造時や工場調整時に全白の単一色の映像信号を入力した場合の表示部108の画面の中の各位置とその各位置における輝度との対応関係を示す輝度ムラを再現する、階調補正基本マップと基本ガンマ特性とを特定する。
外部装置は、特定した階調補正基本マップと基本ガンマ特性を記憶部109aに記録する。
輝度ムラマップ生成部101は、算出した輝度ムラマップを輝度補正マップ生成部103に出力する。
例えば、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、図5で示した表示部108の画面の中の各位置の輝度が、各位置の中で最も低い輝度と同一になるように100パーセントの輝度ムラ補正を行う目標輝度ムラマップを算出する。
例えば、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、入力した輝度ムラマップが250[カンデラ毎平方メートル]で目標輝度ムラマップが200[カンデラ毎平方メートル]である場合、100×(200÷250)=80パーセントと輝度補正量を算出する。
輝度補正マップ生成部103は、算出した表示部108の画面の中の各位置における輝度補正量に基づいて、輝度補正量の集合である輝度補正マップを算出する(ステップS6)。
輝度補正マップ生成部103は、算出した輝度補正マップを階調補正マップ生成部105に出力する。
表示部108は、取得したユーザ測定ガンマ特性を記憶部109aに記録する。
階調補正マップ生成部105は、入力した輝度補正マップにおける輝度を記憶部109aから読み出したユーザ測定ガンマ特性を用いて階調に変換し、階調補正マップを生成する(ステップS9)。
階調補正マップ生成部105は、生成した階調補正マップを記憶部109bに記録する(ステップS10)。
表示制御部107は、映像入力部106から映像信号を入力すると、記憶部109bから階調補正マップを読み出す(ステップS12)。表示制御部107は、記憶部109bから読み出した階調補正マップを用いて入力した映像信号の階調を補正する(ステップS13)。表示制御部107は、補正した映像信号を用いて表示部108に映像を表示させる(ステップS14)。
輝度ムラマップ生成部101は、記憶部109aが記憶する第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点に取得された階調補正基本マップと基本ガンマ特性とに基づいて、階調補正基本マップにおける階調を輝度に変換する。輝度ムラマップ生成部101は、階調補正基本マップにおける階調を輝度に変換したデータに基づいて、輝度ムラマップを算出する。輝度補正マップ生成部103は、輝度ムラマップ生成部101が算出した輝度ムラマップとムラレベル値とに基づいて、目標輝度ムラマップを算出する。また、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、輝度ムラマップ生成部101が算出した輝度ムラマップと算出した目標輝度ムラマップとに基づいて、輝度補正マップを生成する。階調補正マップ生成部105は、輝度補正マップ生成部103が生成した輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすることで、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aは、階調補正マップ生成部105は、輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、簡便に階調補正マップを生成し、記憶部109bに記録することができる。
また、表示制御部107が記憶部109bが記憶する階調補正マップに基づいて、映像入力部106から入力した映像信号の階調を補正し表示部108に映像を表示される。
このようにすることで、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aは、表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置におけるユーザ測定ガンマ特性に基づいて階調を補正することにより、表示部108の画面全体の輝度ムラを簡便に補正することができる。
また、記憶部109aが階調補正基本マップをR、G、B毎に記憶し、階調補正マップ生成装置10がR、G、Bのそれぞれの階調補正基本マップに対して階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすれば、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aは、表示部108の画面全体に均一な色を再現する表示性能を実現することができる。
図10は、本発明の第三の実施形態による表示装置1bの一例を示す図である。
図10で示すように、第三の実施形態による表示装置1bは、階調補正マップ生成装置10aと、映像入力部106と、表示制御部107と、表示部108と、記憶部109a1と、記憶部109bと、を備える。
ただし、階調補正マップ生成装置10aは、輝度補正マップ生成部103と、階調補正マップ生成部105と、を備える。また、記憶部109a1は、輝度ムラマップを記憶する輝度ムラマップ記憶部110dと、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性を記憶するユーザ測定ガンマ特性記憶部110cとを備える。なお、記憶部109a1が記憶する輝度ムラマップは、第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点に表示部108の画面に生じる輝度ムラを高精度カメラなどで撮影し、表示装置1bとは別の外部装置が表示部108の画面の中の各位置とその各位置における輝度を取得したデータの集合である。外部装置は、取得したデータの集合を記憶部109a1に記録する。なお、記憶部109a1が記憶する輝度ムラマップは、表示部108の画面の中の各位置のデータから間引いた特定の位置のデータであってもよい。その場合、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、表示部108の画面の中の位置に対応する輝度ムラマップのデータが存在しない場合、輝度ムラマップのデータを線形補間などで補間したデータを用いて目標輝度ムラマップを算出する。また、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、表示部108の画面の中の位置に対応する輝度ムラマップのデータが存在しない場合、輝度ムラマップのデータ及び目標輝度ムラマップのデータを線形補間などで補間したデータを用いて輝度補正マップを算出する。
なお、第三の実施形態では、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aにおけるステップS1からステップS3の処理に相当する処理を外部装置が行ってもよい。
したがって、第三の実施形態による表示装置1bの処理は、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aが行うステップS4からステップS14までの処理である。
輝度補正マップ生成部103は、外部装置が記憶した輝度ムラマップとムラレベル値に基づいて、目標輝度ムラマップを算出する。また、輝度補正マップ生成部103は、記憶部109a1から読み出した輝度ムラマップと算出した目標輝度ムラマップとに基づいて、輝度補正マップを生成する。階調補正マップ生成部105は、輝度補正マップ生成部103が生成した輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすることで、第三の実施形態による表示装置1bが備える階調補正マップ生成部105は、輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、簡便に階調補正マップを生成し、記憶部109bに記録することができる。
また、表示制御部107は、記憶部109bが記憶する階調補正マップに基づいて、映像入力部106から入力した映像信号の階調を補正し表示部108に映像を表示させる。
このようにすることで、第三の実施形態による表示装置1bは、表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置におけるユーザ測定ガンマ特性に基づいて階調を補正することにより、表示部108の画面全体の輝度ムラを簡便に補正することができる。
また、記憶部109a1が階調補正基本マップをR、G、B毎に記憶し、階調補正マップ生成装置10aがR、G、Bのそれぞれの階調補正基本マップに対して階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすれば、第三の実施形態による表示装置1bは、表示部108の画面全体に均一な色を再現する表示性能を実現することができる。
図11は、本発明の第四の実施形態による表示装置1cの一例を示す図である。
図11で示すように、第四の実施形態による表示装置1cは、階調補正マップ生成装置10bと、映像入力部106と、表示制御部107と、表示部108と、記憶部109a2と、記憶部109bと、を備える。
ただし、階調補正マップ生成装置10bは、階調補正マップ生成部105を備える。また、記憶部109a2は、輝度補正マップを記憶する輝度補正マップ記憶部110eと、ユーザ測定ガンマ特性を記憶するユーザ測定ガンマ特性記憶部110cとを備える。なお、輝度補正マップ記憶部110eが記憶する輝度補正マップは、第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点に表示部108の画面に生じる輝度ムラを高精度カメラなどで撮影し、表示装置1cとは別の外部装置が表示部108の画面の中の各位置とその各位置における輝度を取得したデータの集合である。また、外部装置は、輝度補正マップ生成部と、輝度補正マップ生成部とを備え、取得した輝度ムラマップに基づいて、輝度補正マップを生成し記憶部109a2に記録する。
なお、第四の実施形態では、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aにおけるステップS1からステップS6の処理に相当する処理を外部装置が行っている。
したがって、第四の実施形態による表示装置1cの処理は、第二の実施形態による表示装置1aが行うステップS7からステップS14までの処理である。
階調補正マップ生成部105は、外部装置が生成した輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすることで、第四の実施形態による表示装置1cが備える階調補正マップ生成部105は、輝度補正マップと、第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点に取得されたユーザ測定ガンマ特性とに基づいて、簡便に階調補正マップを生成し、記憶部109bに記録することができる。
また、表示制御部107は、記憶部109bが記憶する階調補正マップに基づいて、映像入力部106から入力した映像信号の階調を補正し表示部108に映像を表示させる。
このようにすることで、第四の実施形態による表示装置1cは、表示部108の画面の中の特定の位置におけるユーザ測定ガンマ特性に基づいて階調を補正することにより、表示部108の画面全体の輝度ムラを簡便に補正することができる。
また、記憶部109a2が階調補正基本マップをR、G、B毎に記憶し、階調補正マップ生成装置10がR、G、Bのそれぞれの階調補正基本マップに対して階調補正マップを生成する。
このようにすれば、第四の実施形態による表示装置1cは、表示部108の画面全体に均一な色を再現する表示性能を実現することができる。

Claims (14)
- 映像信号を入力する映像入力部と、前記映像信号を補正する表示制御部と、補正した前記映像信号に応じた映像を表示する画面を備えた表示部と、を備えた表示装置であって、
前記画面の中の複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における前記映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正マップを生成する階調補正マップ生成装置をさらに備え、
前記階調補正マップ生成装置は、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、の対応関係を示す輝度ムラマップと、
第1の時点よりも後である第2の時点における前記画面の特定の位置の輝度と、前記映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第2のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、前記階調補正マップを生成し、
前記表示制御部は、
前記階調補正マップを用いて前記映像信号を補正する
表示装置。 - 前記無補正時輝度は、前記第1の時点における輝度である、請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記階調補正マップ生成装置は、前記輝度ムラマップを生成する輝度ムラマップ生成部を備え、
前記輝度ムラマップ生成部は、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における前記映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正基本マップと、
前記第1の時点における前記画面の特定の位置若しくはその近傍の輝度と、前記映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第1のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、前記輝度ムラマップを生成する、
請求項1または請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記輝度ムラマップを記憶する輝度ムラマップ記憶部をさらに備える、請求項1または請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記階調補正基本マップを記憶する階調補正基本マップ記憶部をさらに備える、請求項3に記載の表示装置。
- 映像信号を入力する映像入力部と、前記映像信号を補正する表示制御部と、補正した前記映像信号に応じた映像を表示する画面を備えた表示部と、を備えた表示装置であって、
前記画面の中の複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における前記映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正マップを生成する階調補正マップ生成装置をさらに備え、
前記階調補正マップ生成装置は、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における輝度補正量と、の対応関係を示す輝度補正マップと、
第2の時点における前記画面の特定の位置の輝度と、前記映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第2のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、前記階調補正マップを生成し、
前記表示制御部は、
前記階調補正マップを用いて前記映像信号を補正する
表示装置。 - 前記階調補正マップ生成装置は、前記輝度補正マップを生成する輝度補正マップ生成部を備え、
前記輝度補正マップ生成部は、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、の対応関係を示す輝度ムラマップと、
指定されるムラレベル値と、
に基づいて、前記輝度補正マップを生成する、
請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 前記無補正時輝度は、前記第2の時点よりも前である第1の時点における輝度である、請求項7に記載の表示装置。
- 前記輝度補正マップを記憶する輝度補正マップ記憶部をさらに備える、請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 前記輝度補正量は、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、前記複数の位置における目標輝度と、の差又は比である、請求項6から請求項9の何れか一項に記載の表示装置。
- 所定の階調の映像信号に応じた映像が前記画面に表示された際の輝度を測定するガンマ測定部をさらに備え、
前記第2のガンマ特性は、前記ガンマ測定部によって測定された輝度に基づいて取得される、請求項1から請求項10の何れか一項に記載の表示装置。 - 表示部の画面の中の複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、の対応関係を示す輝度ムラマップと、
第2の時点における前記画面の特定の位置の輝度と、映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第2のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正マップを生成する
階調補正マップ生成装置。 - 表示部の画面の中の複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、の対応関係を示す輝度ムラマップと、
第2の時点における前記画面の特定の位置の輝度と、映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第2のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正マップを生成する
階調補正マップ生成方法。 - コンピュータを、
表示部の画面の中の複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における無補正時の輝度である無補正時輝度と、の対応関係を示す輝度ムラマップと、
第2の時点における前記画面の特定の位置の輝度と、映像信号の階調と、の対応関係を示す第2のガンマ特性と、
に基づいて、
前記複数の位置と、前記複数の位置における映像信号の階調の補正値と、の対応関係を示す階調補正マップを生成する
階調補正マップ生成部として機能させるプログラム。
