- information subsequent to this information is recorded from the inner circumference side to the outer circumference side in the area from the position a1 of the data area DZ of the recording layer L2 to the middle position on the outer circumference side. Note that the distance from the center of the optical disc 1 between the recording end position of the content information in the recording layer L1 and the recording start position of the content information in the recording layer L2 does not have to be completely coincident with each other. .
- portions suitable for switching are adopted as the recording end position of the content information in the recording layer L1 and the recording start position of the content information in the recording layer L2.
- a part suitable for this switching it can be effectively used by adopting a part with a low bit rate in the content information such as a scene with relatively little image change in a moving image or a part with relatively little sound in music.
- the content information recording end position in the recording layer L1 and the content information recording start position in the recording layer L2 need not substantially coincide with each other in the horizontal plane (position in the rotation direction). It is also possible to provide a blank area.
- the length of the blank can be determined in consideration of, for example, the time required for focusing, the angle at which the optical disc 1 rotates within this time, and the like. It is also possible to record dummy data for performing focusing in this blank area.
- the recording start position, end position, etc. of each recording layer L0 to L2 of content information are recorded in the PIC area.
- the upper layer point and the lower layer point at which the playback switches from the upper layer content information being reproduced toward the inner circumference to the lower layer content information are located at a position higher than the innermost circumferential position of the data area. It is set outside. That is, in the optical disc according to the present embodiment, the positions of the upper layer point and the lower layer point can be freely set, and a portion suitable for switching in the content information is selected as the switching point, thereby smoothing the information.
