이러한 파우치 외장재는 직방형 외장재를 한 변의 길이 방향을 기준으로 중간을 접철하여 형성된 상부 외장재와 하부 외장재로 이루어지는데, 하부 외장재에는 프레스(press) 가공 등을 통해 전극조립체를 수용하기 위한 공간 부가 형성된다. 하부 외장재의 공간부에는 주로 판형의 양극, 분리막 및 음극이 적층된 구조의 다양한 전극조립체가 수용된다. 그 다음 전해액을 주입하게 되고 상기 하부 외장재 공간부 주위의 가장자리부와 이에 대응되는 상부 외장재의 가장자리를 밀착시키고 밀착된 부분을 열융착 하면 밀봉된 형태의 파우치형 이차전지가 형성된다.
도 1에는 종래의 대표적인 파우치형 이차전지의 일반적인 구조가 분해 사시도로서 모식적으로 도시되어 있다.
도 1을 참조하면, 파우치형 이차전지(1)는, 전극조립체(10), 전극조립체(10)로부터 연장되어 있는 전극 탭들(31, 32), 전극 탭들(31, 32)에 용접되어 있는 전극 리드(51, 52), 및 전극조립체(1)를 수용하는 전지케이스(20)를 포함하는 것으로 구성되어 있다.
전극조립체(10)는 분리막이 개재된 상태에서 양극과 음극이 순차적으로 적층되어 있는 발전소자로서, 스택형 또는 스택/폴딩형 구조로 이루어져 있다. 전극 탭들(31, 32)은 전극조립체(10)의 각 극판으로부터 연장되어 있고, 전극 리드(51, 52)는 각 극판으로부터 연장된 복수 개의 전극 탭들(31, 32)과, 예를 들어, 용접에 의해 각각 전기적으로 연결되어 있으며, 전지케이스(20)의 외부로 일부가 노출되어 있다. 또한, 전극 리드(51, 52)의 상하면 일부에는 전지 케이스(20)와의 밀봉도를 높이고 동시에 전기적 절연상태를 확보하기 위하여 절연필름(53)이 부착되어 있다.
또한, 다수의 양극, 음극 탭들(31, 32)이 일체로 결합되어 융착부를 형성함으로 인해, 전지케이스(20)의 내부 상단은 전극조립체(10)의 상단 면으로부터 일정한 거리만큼 이격되어 있고, 융착부의 탭들(31, 32)은 대략 V자 형상으로 절곡되어 있다(전극 탭들과 전극 리드의 결합부위를 V-포밍(V-forming; 41, 42) 부위로 칭하기도 한다). 전지 케이스(20)는 알루미늄 라미네이트 시트로 이루어져 있고, 전극조립체(10)를 수용할 수 있는 공간을 제공하며, 전체적으로 파우치 형상을 가지고 있다. 이차전지는, 전지 케이스(20)의 수납부에 전극조립체(10)를 내장하고 전해액(도시하지 않음)을 주입한 후, 전지 케이스(20)의 상부 라미네이트 시트와 하부 라미네이트 시트가 접하는 외주 면을 열융착시키는 과정을 통해 제조된다.
이러한 이차 전지는 자동차용 또는 에너지 스토리지(storage)용 중대형 사이즈의 전지에 대한 수요가 높아지고 있으며, 이러한 중대형 전지는 셀의 대형화, 고 에너지화에 따라 계속 두꺼워지는 경향으로 진행되고 있다. 또한, 전지의 병렬 연결수가 적어져야 비용 절감효과(모듈, 팩조립 및 셀 단가측면)를 누릴 수 있어서, 셀의 대용량화는 가속되는 경향이다.
그러나 기존의 대형 폴리머 전지의 경우 전극조립체를 형성하는 셀의 스택(stack) 수가 많아 전체적인 두께가 두꺼워지며, 파우치의 성형(forming) 한계 등의 이유로 일정 두께(5mm) 이하의 전지로만 제작이 가능한 문제가 있다.
본 발명은 상술한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로, 본 발명의 목적은 대용량 폴리머 전지를 수용하는 파우치의 구성을, 상부에는 Al 등으로 이루어진 베이스 플레이트 상에 고분자 필름층을 구현한 구조의 상부 하우징 모듈로 구현하고, 하부는 일반적인 파우치인 Al 등으로 이루어진 필름을 융착시킨 구조를 제공해, 스택 수가 많은 고출력의 전지 저장용도에 적합하도록 구현하는 데 있다.
상술한 과제를 해결하기 위한 수단으로서, 본 발명은 오목한 형태의 수용공간을 구비하는 금속 재질의 베이스 플레이트와, 상기 베이스 플레이트의 일면 또는 양면에 형성되는 고분자층을 포함하는 상부 하우징 모듈; 및 상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 하부 면에 결합하여 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 하부 파우치 시트;를 포함하는 이차전지용 파우치를 제공할 수 있도록 한다.
이때 상기 고분자층은 캐스트 폴리프로필렌(CPP), 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 우레탄, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET), 폴리이미드(PI), 나일론(Nylon) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 2 이상의 물질의 혼합물로 이루어지는 강화층이다.
상기 강화층은 상기 베이스 플레이트의 수용공간을 기준으로,
수용공간의 반대쪽인 베이스 플레이트의 외부면은 CPP, 우레탄, PET, PI, 나일론 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 물질로 형성되는 제1강화층, 및
수용공간 쪽인 베이스 플레이트의 내부면은 PE, PP 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 물질층이 적어도 1층 이상 적층되는 구조로 형성되는 제2강화층을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 베이스 플레이트의 내부면에 형성되는 상기 제2강화층은 적어도 2 이상의 층으로 이루어질 수 있는데, 제2강화층이 2층으로 구성될 경우에는, 제2강화층 중 베이스 플레이트의 내부면과 접촉하는 제1물질층 및 제1물질층 상에 형성되는 제2물질층으로 구성되며, 상기 제1물질층은 제2물질층보다 높은 녹는점을 가지는 물질로 구성될 수 있다.
이때 상기 제1물질층은 상기 제2물질층보다 20℃ ~ 30℃ 높은 녹는점을 가지는 물질로 구성되는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 하부 파우치 시트는 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 구조로, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 망간(Mn)의 합금, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 니켈(Ni)의 합금, 알루미늄(Al), 구리(Cu), 이들의 등가물 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 물질로 구성될 수 있다.
상기 상부 하우징 모듈은 상기 수용공간의 내부에 수용되는 전극조립체의 전극과 연결되는 탭이 일체형 구조로 형성되는 일체형 리드탭을 더 포함하며, 이러한 일체형 리드탭은 상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 일측에 한 쌍이 형성될 수도 있고, 상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 일측 및 타측의 양방향에 형성되는 구조일 수도 있다.
상기 베이스 플레이트의 두께는 0.12mm ~ 0.3mm의 범위이며, Al, Fe, SUS (steel use stainless), 고밀도 플라스틱 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 될 수 있다.
상기 베이스플레이트에 적층되는 고분자층의 총 두께는 80㎛~200㎛이며, 상부 하우징 모듈 전체의 두께는 0.2mm ~ 0.5mm의 범위일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 하부 파우치 시트는 150㎛~180㎛ 두께로 구성될 수 있다.
또한, 본 발명은 전술한 파우치 내부에 전극조립체를 수용하여 이루어지는 이차전지를 제공한다.
상기 전극조립체는 권취형, 스택형 및 스택/폴딩형 구조로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택될 수 있다.
대용량 폴리머 전지를 수용하는 파우치의 구성을 본 발명과 같이 함으로써 스택수가 많은 고출력의 전지 저장용도에 적합하도록 구현할 수 있는 효과가 있다.

이하에서는 첨부한 도면을 참조하여 본 발명에 따른 구성 및 작용을 구체적으로 설명한다. 첨부 도면을 참조하여 설명함에 있어, 도면 부호에 관계없이 동일한 구성요소는 동일한 참조부여를 부여하고, 이에 대한 중복설명은 생략하기로 한다. 제1, 제2 등의 용어는 다양한 구성요소들을 설명하는데 사용될 수 있지만, 상기 구성요소들은 상기 용어들에 의해 한정되어서는 안 된다. 상기 용어들은 하나의 구성요소를 다른 구성요소로부터 구별하는 목적으로만 사용된다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따른 이차전지용 파우치의 구조를 도시한 단면 개념도이다.
도시된 도면을 참조하면, 본 발명에 따른 이차전지용 파우치는, 전극조립체의 수용공간을 구비하며, 베이스 플레이트(110) 일면 또는 양면에 고분자층(111, 112)을 형성하는 상부 하우징 모듈(122)과 상기 상부 하우징 모듈(122의 하부면에 결합하여 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 하부 파우치 시트(120)를 포함하여 구성될 수 있다.
특히 상기 상부 하우징 모듈(122)은 0.12mm~0.3mm 두께의 금속재질의 베이스 플레이트(110)를 성형하여 전극조립체의 수용공간을 형성하는 입체형(Can type) 구조이며, 상기 베이스 플레이트의 표면에 캐스트 폴리프로필렌(CPP), 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 우레탄, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트(PET), 폴리이미드(PI), 나일론(Nylon) 중 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 2 이상의 물질의 혼합물로 되는 강화층을 구비하는 구조로 구현됨이 바람직하다. 아울러, 상기 베이스 플레이트 및 강화층의 총 두께는 0.2mm~0.5mm의 두께로 형성될 수 있으며, 이 경우 상기 베이스 플레이트는 Al, Fe, SUS, 고밀도 플라스틱 중 어느 하나를 이용할 수 있다.
특히, 상기 강화층은, 상기 베이스 플레이트(110)의 수용공간을 기준으로, 수용공간의 반대쪽, 즉 베이스 플레이트(110)의 외부면은 CPP, 우레탄, PET, PI, 나일론 중 어느 하나의 물질로 형성되는 제1강화층(111)이 형성되며, 수용공간 쪽인 베이스 플레이트(110)의 내부면은 PE, PP 중 어느 하나의 물질층이 적어도 1층 이상 적층되는 구조로 마련되는 제2강화층(112)으로 구성될 수 있으며, 상기 제2강화층(112)은 적어도 2층 이상의 복층구조로 구현될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 제2강화층(112)이 복층구조로 구현될 경우, 도 3과 같이, 특히 베이스 플레이트(110)의 내부면과 접촉하는 제1물질층(112a) 및 상기 제1물질층(112a) 상에 형성되는 제2물질층으로 구성되며, 상기 제1물질층(112a)은 제2물질층(112b)보다 상대적으로 높은 녹는 점을 가지는 물질로 구성될 수 있도록 함이 바람직하다. 특히 상기 제1물질층(112a)은 제2물질층(112b)보다 20℃ ~ 30℃ 높은 녹는점을 가지는 물질로 구성될 수 있다. 이렇게 하면, 본 발명에 따른 하부 파우치 시트(120)와의 가열압착 공정에서 녹는 점이 상대적으로 더 낮은 층이 먼저 녹아 실링성을 높여줄 뿐만 아니라, 제1물질층(112a)은 녹지 않아, 금속층(상부 하우징 모듈과 하부 파우치 시트) 상호 간에 직접적으로 접촉되는 일이 발생하지 않게 된다. 즉, 금속층 상호 간 접촉을 억제하여 절연특성을 향상시킬 수 있다.
상기 베이스 플레이트에 적층되는 고분자층의 총 두께는 80㎛~200㎛의 범위에서 형성할 수 있다.
상기 하부 파우치 시트(120)는, 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 구조로, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 망간(Mn)의 합금, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 니켈(Ni)의 합금, 알루미늄(Al), 구리(Cu) 또는 그 등가물 중 선택된 어느 하나의 물질로 구성되는 시트로 형성될 수 있으며, 일반적으로 Al을 사용할 수 있다. 또한, 상기 하부 파우치 시트는, 150㎛~180㎛ 두께의 구성될 수 있다.
상기 상부 하우징 모듈과 하부 파우치 시트에 있어서, “상부” 및 “하부”는 상대적인 개념으로서 설명의 편의를 위한 것일 뿐, 수용공간 및 고분자층이 구비된 하우징 모듈이 반드시 파우치 시트의 상부에 위치하여야 한다는 의미로 이해되어서는 안 된다.
도 4 및 도 5는 본 발명에 다른 파우치 시트 내에 전극조립체를 삽입한 구조의 이차전지를 예시한 것이다.
본 발명에 따른 파우치는 도 2 및 도 3에서 상술한 것과 같이, 금속재질의 베이스 플레이트를 성형하여 전극조립체를 수용할 수 있는 수용부를 형성하고, 여기에 강화물질을 코팅한 후, 이를 하부 파우치 시트와 열적으로 융착시킨 구조로 구현할 수 있다.
도시된 것과 같이, 본 발명에 따른 파우치 시트의 상부 하우징 모듈(122)에는 수용공간의 내부에 수용되는 전극조립체의 전극과 연결되는 탭이 일체형 구조로 형성되는 일체형 리드탭(113a, 113b)을 형성할 수 있으며, 도 4에 도시된 구조와 같이 단방향 구조의 리드탭뿐만 아니라 도 5에 도시된 구조와 같이 양방향 리드탭 구조로 구현하는 것도 가능하다. 상기 일체형 리드탭은 캔 구조(고형화된 상부 하우징 모듈)를 구현하면서 상부 하우징 모듈에 일체형으로 구현되며, 이는 추후 조립공정에서 내부에 전극조립체가 장착되는 경우, 별도의 용접공정 없이도 삽입과정에서 바로 탭과 연결되도록 해, 공정내 조립성을 단순화시킬 수 있도록 할 수 있다.
상술한 본 발명에 따른 파우치의 내부에는 다양한 전극조립체가 삽입될 수 있으며, 본 발명에서 적용되는 전극조립체는 긴 시트 형의 양극들과 음극들을 분리막이 개재된 상태에서 권취한 구조의 젤리-롤(권취형) 전극조립체, 소정 크기의 단위로 절취한 다수의 양극과 음극들을 분리막을 개재한 상태로 순차적으로 적층한 스택형(적층형) 전극조립체로 구분된다. 바람직하게는 스택형 구조와 스택/폴딩형 구조를 들 수 있다. 상기 스택형 구조는 당업계에 널리 공지되어 있으므로, 본 명세서에서 그에 대한 설명은 생략한다. 상기 스택/폴딩형 구조의 전극조립체에 대한 자세한 내용은 본 출원인의 한국 특허출원공개 제2001-0082058호, 제2001-0082059호 및 제2001-0082060호에 개시되어 있으며, 상기 출원은 본 발명의 내용에 참조로서 병합된다.
이하에서는 상술한 본 발명에 따른 파우치에 삽입되는 전극조립체를 구성하는 구성요소의 구체적인 재료 및 구성상의 특징을 설명하기로 한다.
이하에서는 상술한 본 발명에 따른 실시예에 적용되는 전극조립체를 구성하는 구성요소의 구체적인 재료 및 구성상의 특징을 설명하기로 한다.
양극구조
본 발명에서 상기 단위 전극은 양극 또는 음극으로 구별되고, 상기 풀셀과 바이셀은 상기 양극 및 음극을 그 사이에 분리막을 개재시킨 상태에서 상호 결합시켜 제조된다. 양극은 예를 들어, 양극 집전체 상에 양극 활물질, 도전재 및 바인더의 혼합물을 도포한 후 건조 및 프레싱하여 제조되며, 필요에 따라서는 상기 혼합물에 충진재를 더 첨가하기도 한다.
[양극 집전체]
상기 양극 집전체는 일반적으로 3 ~ 500㎛의 두께로 만든다. 이러한 양극 집전체는, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 높은 도전성을 가지는 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 또는 알루미늄이나 스테인레스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리한 것 등이 사용될 수 있다. 집전체는 그것의 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 양극 활물질의 접착력을 높일 수도 있으며, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태가 가능하다.
*[양극 활물질]
상기 양극 활물질은 리튬 이차전지인 경우 예를 들어, 리튬 코발트 산화물(LiCoO2), 리튬 니켈 산화물(LiNiO2) 등의 층상 화합물이나 1 또는 그 이상의 전이금속으로 치환된 화합물; 화학식 Li1+xMn2-xO4 (여기서, x는 0 ~ 0.33 임), LiMnO3, LiMn2O3, LiMnO2 등의 리튬 망간 산화물; 리튬 동 산화물(Li2CuO2); LiV3O8, LiFe3O4,V2O5, Cu2V2O7 등의 바나듐 산화물; 화학식 LiNi1-xMxO2 (여기서, M = Co, Mn, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B 또는 Ga 이고, x = 0.01 ~ 0.3 임)으로 표현되는 Ni 사이트형 리튬 니켈 산화물; 화학식 LiMn2-xMxO2 (여기서, M = Co, Ni, Fe, Cr, Zn 또는 Ta 이고, x = 0.01 ~ 0.1 임) 또는 Li2Mn3MO8 (여기서, M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu 또는 Zn 임)으로 표현되는 리튬 망간 복합 산화물; 화학식의 Li 일부가 알칼리토금속 이온으로 치환된 LiMn2O4; 디설파이드 화합물; Fe2(MoO4)3 등을 들 수 있지만, 이들만으로 한정되는 것은 아니다.
상기 도전재는 통상적으로 양극 활물질을 포함한 혼합물 전체 중량을 기준으로 1 내지 50 중량%로 첨가된다. 이러한 도전재는 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 천연 흑연이나 인조 흑연 등의 흑연; 카본블랙, 아세틸렌 블랙, 케첸 블랙, 채널블랙, 퍼네이스 블랙, 램프 블랙, 서멀 블랙 등의 카본블랙; 탄소 섬유나 금속 섬유 등의 도전성 섬유; 불화 카본, 알루미늄, 니켈 분말 등의 금속 분말; 산화아연, 티탄산 칼륨 등의 도전성 위스키; 산화 티탄 등의 도전성 금속 산화물; 폴리페닐렌 유도체 등의 도전성 소재 등이 사용될 수 있다.
상기 바인더는 활물질과 도전재 등의 결합과 집전체에 대한 결합에 조력하는 성분으로서, 통상적으로 양극 활물질을 포함하는 혼합물 전체 중량을 기준으로 1 내지 50 중량%로 첨가된다. 이러한 바인더의 예로는, 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드(polyvinylidene fluoride), 폴리비닐알코올, 카르복시메틸셀룰로우즈(CMC), 전분, 히드록시프로필셀룰로우즈, 재생 셀룰로우즈, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 테트라플루오로에틸렌, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌, 에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔 테르 폴리머(EPDM), 술폰화 EPDM, 스티렌 부티렌 고무, 불소 고무, 다양한 공중합체 등을 들 수 있다.
*상기 충진제는 양극의 팽창을 억제하는 성분으로서 선택적으로 사용되며, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 섬유상 재료라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 폴리에틸렌, 폴리프로필렌 등의 올레핀계 중합체; 유리섬유, 탄소섬유 등의 섬유상 물질이 사용된다.
음극 구조
음극은 음극 집전체 상에 음극 활물질을 도포, 건조 및 프레싱하여 제조되며, 필요에 따라 상기에서와 같은 도전재, 바인더, 충진제 등이 선택적으로 더 포함될 수 있다.
[음극 집전체]
상기 음극 집전체는 일반적으로 3 ~ 500㎛의 두께로 만들어진다. 이러한 음극 집전체는, 당해 전지에 화학적 변화를 유발하지 않으면서 도전성을 가진 것이라면 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어, 구리, 스테인레스 스틸, 알루미늄, 니켈, 티탄, 소성 탄소, 구리나 스테인레스 스틸의 표면에 카본, 니켈, 티탄, 은 등으로 표면 처리한 것, 알루미늄-카드뮴 합금 등이 사용될 수 있다. 또한, 양극 집전체와 마찬가지로, 표면에 미세한 요철을 형성하여 음극 활물질의 결합력을 강화시킬 수도 있으며, 필름, 시트, 호일, 네트, 다공질체, 발포체, 부직포체 등 다양한 형태로 사용될 수 있다.
[음극 활물질]
상기 음극 활물질은, 예를 들어, 난흑연화 탄소, 흑연계 탄소 등의 탄소; LixFe2O3(0≤x≤1), LixWO2(0≤x≤1), SnxMe1-xMe'yOz (Me: Mn, Fe, Pb, Ge; Me': Al, B, P, Si, 주기율표의 1족, 2족, 3족 원소, 할로겐;0<x≤1; 1≤y≤3; 1≤z≤8) 등의 금속 복합 산화물; 리튬 금속; 리튬 합금; 규소계 합금; 주석계 합금; SnO, SnO2, PbO, PbO2, Pb2O3, Pb3O4, Sb2O3, Sb2O4, Sb2O5, GeO, GeO2, Bi2O3, Bi2O4 또는 Bi2O5 등의 금속 산화물; 폴리아세틸렌 등의 도전성 고분자; Li-Co-Ni 계 재료 등을 사용할 수 있다.
[분리막]
상기 풀셀들은 긴 길이의 분리막 시트 상에 위치시킨 후 중첩부에는 분리막 시트가 개재되는 구조로 권취하는 바, 각 풀셀들은 분리막 필름이 개재된 상태에서 양극과 음극이 서로 대면하도록 적층하여야 한다. 상기 분리막 시트는 권취 후 전극조립체를 한차례 감싸는 연장된 길이를 가질 수 있고, 분리막 시트의 최 외각 말단은 열융착되거나 테이프가 붙여져 고정될 수 있다. 예를 들어, 열 용접기 또는 열판 등을 마무리되는 분리막 시트에 접촉시켜 분리막 시트 자체가 열에 의해 용융되어 접착 고정되도록 하는 것이다. 이에 따라, 압력이 계속 유지되게 하는바 전극과 분리막 시트 사이의 안정적인 계면 접촉을 가능케 한다.
상기 분리막 시트 또는 셀의 양극과 음극 사이에 개재되는 분리막은 절연성을 나타내고 이온의 이동이 가능한 다공성 구조라면, 그것의 소재가 특별히 제한되는 것은 아니며, 상기 분리막과 분리막 시트는 동일한 소재일 수도 있고 그렇지 않을 수도 있다.
상기 분리막 또는 분리막 시트는, 예를 들어, 높은 이온 투과도와 기계적 강도를 가지는 절연성의 얇은 박막이 사용될 수 있고, 분리막 또는 분리막 시트의 기공 직경은 일반적으로 0.01 ~ 10㎛이고, 두께는 일반적으로 5 ~ 300㎛이다. 이러한 분리막 또는 분리막 시트로는, 예를 들어, 내화학성 및 소수성의 폴리프로필렌 등의 올레핀계 폴리머; 유리섬유 또는 폴리에틸렌 등으로 만들어진 시트나 부직포 등이 사용된다. 전해질로서 폴리머 등의 고체 전해질이 사용되는 경우에는 고체 전해질이 분리막을 겸할 수도 있다. 바람직하게는, 폴리에틸렌 필름, 폴리프로필렌 필름, 또는 이들 필름의 조합에 의해서 제조되는 다층 필름이나 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드, 폴리에틸렌옥사이드(polyethylene oxide), 폴리아크릴로니트릴(polyacrylonitrile), 또는 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드 헥사플루오로프로필렌(polyvinylidene fluoride hexafluoropropylene) 공중합체 등의 고분자 전해질용 또는 겔형 고분자 전해질용 고분자 필름일 수 있다.
상기 분리막은 풀셀 또는 바이셀을 구성하기 위해서 열융착에 의한 접착 기능을 가지고 있는 것이 바람직하고, 상기 분리막 시트는 반드시 그러한 기능을 가질 필요는 없으나 권취 공정을 용이하게 수행하기 위해서는 접착 기능을 가지는 것을 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
또한, 본 발명에서는 풀셀 또는 바이셀을 구성하기 위해 하나의 분리막에 전극을 배치하고 이를 한 방향으로 권취하거나, 지그재그 방향으로 권취한 형태 등의 구조를 들어 예시하였으나, 반드시 이에 한정되는 것은 아니며, 다수의 전극 사이에 별도의 분리막을 개재하여 적층한 형태로 라미네이션 하는 구조도 적용될 수 있음은 물론이다.
본 발명에 따른 이차전지는, 이를 단위 전지로 하는 중대형 전지모듈에 적용될 수 있음은 물론, 전지 모듈을 포함하는 전지 팩에 적용되는 경우, 파워 툴(power tool); 전기차(Electric Vehicle, EV), 하이브리드 전기차(Hybrid Electric Vehicle, HEV) 및 플러그인 하이브리드 전기차(Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, PHEV)로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 전기차; 이-바이크(E-bike); 이-스쿠터(E-scooter); 전기 골프 카트(Electric golf cart); 전기 트럭; 및 전기 상용차로 이루어진 중대형 디바이스 군에서 선택된 하나 이상의 전원으로 사용될 수 있다.
중대형 전지모듈은 다수의 단위전지들을 직렬 방식 또는 직렬/병렬 방식으로 연결하여 고출력 대용량을 제공하도록 구성되어 있으며, 그에 대해서는 당업계에 공지되어 있으므로 본 명세서에는 관련 설명을 생략한다.
전술한 바와 같은 본 발명의 상세한 설명에서는 구체적인 실시예에 관해 설명하였다. 그러나 본 발명의 범주에서 벗어나지 않는 한도 내에서는 여러 가지 변형이 가능하다. 본 발명의 기술적 사상은 본 발명의 기술한 실시예에 국한되어 정해져서는 안 되며, 특허청구범위뿐만 아니라 이 특허청구범위와 균등한 것들에 의해 정해져야 한다.
Claims (17)
- 오목한 형태의 수용공간을 구비하는 금속 재질의 베이스 플레이트와, 상기 베이스 플레이트의 일면 또는 양면에 형성되는 고분자층을 포함하는 상부 하우징 모듈; 및상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 하부 면에 결합하여 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 하부 파우치 시트를 포함하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 고분자층은 CPP, PE, PP, 우레탄, PET, PI, Nylon 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나 또는 2 이상의 물질의 혼합물로 이루어지는 강화층인 것을 특징으로 하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 2에 있어서,상기 강화층은 상기 베이스 플레이트의 수용공간을 기준으로,수용공간의 반대쪽인 베이스 플레이트의 외부면은 CPP, 우레탄, PET, PI, Nylon 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 물질로 형성되는 제1강화층, 및수용공간 쪽인 베이스 플레이트의 내부면은 PE, PP 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어지는 군으로부터 선택되는 물질층이 적어도 1층 이상 적층되는 구조로 형성되는 제2강화층을 포함하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 3에 있어서,상기 베이스 플레이트의 내부면에 형성되는 상기 제2강화층은 적어도 2 이상의 층으로 구현되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 4에 있어서,상기 제2강화층은 베이스 플레이트의 내부면과 접촉하는 제1물질층 및 제1물질층 상에 형성되는 제2물질층으로 구성되며, 상기 제1물질층은 제2물질층보다 높은 녹는점을 가지는 물질로 구성되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 5에 있어서,상기 제1물질층은 상기 제2물질층보다 20℃ ~ 30℃ 높은 녹는점을 가지는 물질로 구성되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 하부 파우치 시트는 상기 수용공간을 밀폐하는 구조로, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 망간(Mn)의 합금, 철(Fe), 탄소(C), 크롬(Cr) 및 니켈(Ni)의 합금, 알루미늄(Al), 구리(Cu), 이들의 등가물 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택된 물질로 구성되는 시트인 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 상부 하우징 모듈은 상기 수용공간의 내부에 수용되는 전극조립체의 전극과 연결되는 탭이 일체형 구조로 형성되는 일체형 리드탭을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 8에 있어서,상기 일체형 리드탭은 상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 일측에 한 쌍이 형성되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 8에 있어서,상기 일체형 리드탭은 상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 일측 및 타측의 양방향에 형성되는 구조인 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 베이스 플레이트의 두께는 0.12mm ~ 0.3mm의 범위로 구현하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 베이스 플레이트는 Al, Fe, SUS, 고밀도 플라스틱 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나로 구성되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 베이스 플레이트에 적층되는 고분자층의 두께는 80㎛~200㎛인 것을 특징으로 하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 상부 하우징 모듈의 두께는 0.2mm ~ 0.5mm의 범위로 구현하는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,상기 하부 파우치 시트는 150㎛~180㎛ 두께로 구성되는 이차전지용 파우치.
- 청구항 1 내지 청구항 15 중 어느 한 항에 따른 파우치 내부에 전극조립체를 수용하여 이루어지는 이차전지.
- 청구항 16에 있어서,상기 전극조립체는 권취형, 스택형 및 스택/폴딩형 구조로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 구조로 이루어지는 이차전지.
