Description
この発明は、チェーンの張力調整用として、あるいは、チェーンの移動案内用として使用されるチェーンガイドおよびそのチェーンガイドを用いたチェーン伝動装置に関する。
クランク軸に取付けられた駆動スプロケットとカム軸に取付けられた従動スプロケット間に金属製タイミングチェーン(以下、単に「チェーン」という)を掛け渡したカム軸駆動用のチェーン伝動装置においては、チェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側方に、そのチェーンの走行方向に沿って延びる揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設け、そのチェーンガイドの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷してチェーンを緊張させ、チェーンの緩みやバタツキを防ぐようにしている。
また、チェーンの張り側チェーンにチェーンガイドを設けて両端部を支持する固定の配置とし、その固定のチェーンガイドによりチェーンの移動を案内し、バタツキを抑制するようにしている。
ここで、チェーンの張力調整用や移動案内用のチェーンガイドとして、チェーンを滑り接触によって面案内する形式のものが知られているが、チェーンの移動抵抗が大きく、トルクの伝達ロスが大きいという問題がある。
そのような問題点を解決するため、本件出願人においては、下記特許文献1において、チェーンの移動方向に長く延びる合成樹脂製のガイドベースによって曲線状に配置された複数のローラ軸の両端部を支持し、その複数のローラ軸のそれぞれによってころ軸受からなるローラを回転自在に支持し、その複数のローラによってチェーンを移動自在に案内するようにしたチェーンガイドを提案している。
上記のチェーンガイドにおいては、チェーンの案内が複数のローラの転がりによる案内であるため、チェーンの移動抵抗が小さく、トルクの伝達ロスが小さいという特徴を有している。
ところで、上記特許文献1に記載のチェーンガイドにおいては、ガイドベースの長さ方向の両端部を支持し、その支持部間に設けられた複数のローラのそれぞれでチェーンの移動を案内するようにしているため、チェーンから複数のローラに負荷される押圧力によってガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に大きな回転モーメントが負荷されてガイドベースに撓みが生じ易い。ここで、ガイドベースに撓みが生じると、振動、騒音が発生し、ドライバに不快感を与えることになる。
この発明の課題は、ガイドベースの撓みを抑制し、振動、騒音の低減化を図ることである。
上記の課題を解決するために、この発明に係る張力調整用のチェーンガイドにおいては、トルク伝達用チェーンの移動方向に沿って設けられた曲線状のガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数の回転可能なローラを有し、前記ガイドベースの一端部を支持する支点軸を中心にしてガイドベースを揺動自在に支持し、そのガイドベースの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷して複数のローラのそれぞれでチェーンを押圧して転がり案内するチェーンガイドにおいて、前記ガイドベースの揺動中心となる支点軸を、ガイドベースの揺動中心側の端部に位置するローラからガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置に配置して、その支点軸より外側にローラを設けた構成を採用したのである。
上記のように、ガイドベースの揺動中心となる支点軸の外側にローラを設けることにより、チェーンから複数のローラのそれぞれに押圧力が負荷されるチェーンの移動案内時、支点軸の外側のローラに負荷される回転モーメントは、支点軸とチェーンテンショナの調整力負荷位置間に設けられた複数のローラに負荷される回転モーメントを軽減するように作用することになり、支点軸とチェーンテンショナの調整力負荷位置間でのガイドベースの撓みを抑制することができる。
ここで、チェーンテンショナによる調整力の負荷位置を、ガイドベースの揺動側の端部に位置するローラよりガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置として、前記調整力負荷位置の外側にローラを設けることにより、そのローラに負荷される回転モーメントは支点軸とチェーンテンショナの調整力負荷位置間に設けられた複数のローラに負荷される回転モーメントをさらに軽減させることになり、ガイドベースの撓みをより効果的に抑制することができる。
上記の課題を解決するために、この発明に係る移動案内用のチェーンガイドにおいては、トルク伝達用チェーンの移動方向に沿って設けられた曲線状のガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数の回転可能なローラを有し、前記ガイドベースの両端部を支持して複数のローラのそれぞれでチェーンを転がり案内するチェーンガイドにおいて、前記ガイドベースの両端部を支持する支持部の少なくとも一方の支持部を、その支持部側の端部に位置するローラよりガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置に配置して、支持部の外側にローラを設けた構成を採用したのである。
上記移動案内用のチェーンガイドにおいても、支持部の外側のローラに負荷される回転モーメントは一対の支持部間に設けられた複数のローラに負荷される回転モーメントを軽減することになるため、ガイドベースの撓みを抑制することができる。
ここで、ガイドベースの両側面間の幅寸法をW、径方向の高さ寸法をHとしたとき、H>Wの関係を持たせることにより、H<Wとされたガイドベースに比較してガイドベースの剛性を高めることができ、ガイドベースの撓みの抑制に効果を挙げることができる。
この発明に係るチェーン伝動装置においては、駆動スプロケットと従動スプロケット間にタイミングチェーンを掛け渡し、そのタイミングチェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側部に、タイミングチェーンの移動を案内する揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設けたチェーン伝動装置において、前記チェーンガイドとしてこの発明に係る前述の張力調整用のチェーンガイドを採用したのである。
上記の構成からなるチェーン伝動装置において、チェーンの張り側チェーンの一側方に、チェーンの移動を案内する固定のチェーンガイドを設け、その固定のチェーンガイドとして、この発明に係る前述の移動案内用チェーンガイドを採用することによってチェーンのバタつきを効果的に抑制することができる。
この発明においては、上記のように、揺動自在に支持されたガイドベースの揺動中心となる支点軸の外側や固定の支持とされたガイドベースの支持部の外側にローラを設けたことにより、ガイドベースの撓みを抑制し、振動、騒音を低減することができる。
以下、この発明の実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図1は、カム軸駆動用のチェーン伝動装置を示し、クランク軸1の軸端部に取付けられた駆動スプロケット2とカム軸3の軸端部に取付けられた従動スプロケット4間にはタイミングチェーン5が掛け渡されている。
タイミングチェーン5はローラチェーンであっても、サイレントチェーンであってもよい。
クランク軸1は、図1の矢印で示す方向に回転する。そのクランク軸1の回転により、タイミングチェーン5(以下、単にチェーンという)が同図の矢印で示す方向に移動し、上方に向けて移動する部分が弛み側チェーン5aとされ、下向きに向けて移動する部分が張り側チェーン5bとされ、上記弛み側チェーン5aの一側部に張力調整用のチェーンガイドA1が設けられている。
チェーンガイドA1は、チェーン5の移動方向に長く延び、その上端部がエンジンブロックから突設する支点軸10により支持されて、その支点軸10を中心に揺動可能とされ、下側の揺動側端部にはチェーンテンショナ11の調整力が負荷されて弛み側チェーン5aに向けて押圧されている。
チェーン5における張り側チェーン5bの他側部には移動案内用のチェーンガイドA2が設けられている。この移動案内用チェーンガイドA2は、揺動可能なチェーンガイドA1と同様に、チェーン5の移動方向に長く延び、その両端部がエンジンブロックにねじ込まれる支持部としてのボルト12の締め付けにより固定されて、チェーン5の移動を案内するようになっている。
ここで、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1と移動案内用チェーンガイドA2とは、ほぼ同一の構成とされ、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1が一端部に支点軸挿入用の挿入孔が形成されているのに対し、移動案内用チェーンガイドA2が両端部にボルト挿入用の挿入孔が形成されている点が相違している。
そのため、ここでは、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1の構成について以下に説明し、移動案内用チェーンガイドA2については同一の部分に同一の符号を付して説明を省略する。
図2乃至図4に示すように、チェーンガイドA1は、チェーン5の移動方向に長く延びるガイドベース20と、そのガイドベース20の長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数のローラ軸30と、その複数のローラ軸30のそれぞれに回転自在に支持されたチェーン案内用の複数のローラ40とからなっている。
ガイドベース20は、曲線状をなし、チェーン5と対向する面の両側には対向一対の側板部21が設けられ、その一対の側板部21間においてガイドベース20の長さ方向に複数のローラ収容凹部22が間隔をおいて設けられている。
また、ガイドベース20の上端部には、支点軸10が挿入される挿入孔23が形成されている。
複数のローラ収容凹部22のそれぞれにおいて、対向する内側面にはローラ軸30の軸端部を支持する複数の軸係合部24が設けられている。
軸係合部24は、側板部21のチェーン5と対向する外側面部において開口して、その開口端が広幅とされたテーパ溝部24aと、そのテーパ溝部24aの狭小端に連通する円形状の軸支持部24bとからなっている。
ローラ軸30は、その両端部がテーパ溝部24aから軸支持部24bに嵌合されて非回転の支持とされている。テーパ溝部24aの狭小部はローラ軸30の軸径より小さく、そのテーパ溝部24aの狭小部によってローラ軸30は抜止めされている。
複数の軸係合部24は、その軸支持部24bの中心を結ぶ線が凸形の円弧状線を描く円弧状の配置とされているが、曲線状の配置とされていてもよい。
上記ガイドベース20は、合成樹脂の成形品とされている。合成樹脂として耐油性、耐候性および強度的に優れた樹脂を用いるのが好ましい。そのような樹脂として、ポリアミド46(PA46)やポリアミド66(PA66)を挙げることができる。機械的強度をさらに向上させるために、それらの樹脂に強化ガラス繊維を混入するのが好ましい。
図3および図4に示すように、ローラ軸30は、ストレート形状をなし、SUJ2やSC材を素材としている。このローラ軸30は、耐摩耗性を向上させるため、熱処理されて硬度が高められている。熱処理として、ここでは、光輝焼入れを採用しているが、高周波焼入れしてもよく、浸炭焼入れしてもよい。あるいは、浸炭窒化処理してもよい。
複数のローラ40は、複数のローラ軸30のそれぞれによって回転自在に支持されている。ローラ40はころ軸受からなり、外輪41と、その内側に組み込まれた複数のころ42、および、そのころ42を保持する保持器43とからなっている。
外輪41は、SPCやSCM等の金属板を絞り成形したシェル形であり、熱処理によって硬度が高められている。シェル形外輪41の両端部には、保持器43を抜止めする内向き鍔44が形成されている。内向き鍔44は、ころ軸受40の組立ての容易化を図るため、ころ42を保持する保持器43の組込み後において曲げ成形される。
なお、ころ軸受40は、針状ころ軸受であってもよく、円筒ころ軸受であってもよい。
図1に示すように、移動案内用チェーンガイドA2においては、ガイドベース20の両端部に設けられた一対の挿入孔13のそれぞれにボルト12が挿通され、そのボルト12がエンジンブロックに締結されてガイドベース20の両端部を支持している。
上記の構造からなるチェーン伝動装置において、クランク軸1が回転すると、その回転は駆動スプロケット2と従動スプロケット4間に掛け渡されたチェーン5の移動によってカム軸3に伝達される。
クランク軸1からカム軸3へのトルク伝達状態において、負荷の変動によりチェーン5の張力が変化すると、チェーンテンショナ11が作動して、その張力変化を吸収する。このため、チェーン5は常に所定の張力状態に保持される。
また、チェーン5の移動によるトルク伝達時、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1および移動案内用チェーンガイドA2のそれぞれに設けられたころ軸受40はチェーン5との接触により回転し、チェーン5は転がり案内される。
張力調整用チェーンガイドA1および移動案内用チェーンガイドA2のそれぞれに設けられたころ軸受40がチェーン5を転がり案内するとき、緊張状態にあるチェーン5からそれぞれのころ軸受40に押圧力が負荷される。
ここで、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1における複数のころ軸受40のそれぞれがガイドベース20を揺動自在に支持する支点軸10と、チェーンテンショナ11による調整力の負荷位置との間に設けられていると、それぞれのころ軸受40に負荷される押圧力によりガイドベース20の長さ方向の中央部に極めて大きな回転モーメントが断続的に負荷されて、ガイドベース20に大きな撓みが生じ、振動、騒音が発生する。
一方、移動案内用チェーンガイドA2においても、複数のころ軸受40のそれぞれがガイドベース20を支持する一対の支持部としてのボルト12間に設けられていると、それぞれのころ軸受40に負荷される押圧力によりガイドベース20の長さ方向の中央部に回転モーメントが断続的に負荷されてガイドベース20に大きな撓みが生じ、振動、騒音が発生する。
そのような不都合を解消するため、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1においては、図2に示すように、ガイドベース20の揺動中心側の端部に位置するころ軸受40とこれに隣接するころ軸受40間に支点軸10を配置して、その支点軸10の外側に一つのころ軸受40を設けると共に、ガイドベース20の揺動側の端部に位置するころ軸受40とこれに隣接するころ軸受40間にチェーンテンショナ11による調整力の負荷位置を配置して、その調整力の負荷位置より外側に一つのころ軸受40を設けるようにしている。
上記のように、支点軸10の外側に一つのころ軸受40を設け、かつ、チェーンテンショナ11による調整力の負荷位置より外側に一つのころ軸受40を設けることにより、チェーン5からの押圧によってこれらのころ軸受40のそれぞれに負荷される回転モーメントは他の残りのころ軸受40に負荷される回転モーメントを軽減させるように作用するため、ガイドベース20の撓みを抑制し、振動、騒音を低減することができる。
なお、図2では、支点軸10の外側およびチェーンテンショナ11による調整力の負荷位置より外側に一つのころ軸受40を設けるようにしたが、ころ軸受40の数はこれに限定されず、少なくとも一つ以上とし、二つであってもよい。
一方、移動案内用チェーンガイドA2においては、図1に示すように、ガイドベース20の両端部を支持する一対の支持部としてのボルト12のそれぞれ外側に一つのころ軸受40を設けるようにしている。
上記のように、支持部としてのボルト12より、ガイドベース20の端部側に少なくとも一つのころ軸受40を設けることにより、チェーン5からの押圧によってこれらのころ軸受40のそれぞれに負荷される回転モーメントは他の残りのころ軸受40に負荷される回転モーメントを軽減させるように作用するため、この場合においても、張力調整用チェーンガイドA1と同様に、ガイドベース20の撓みを抑制し、振動、騒音を低減することができる。
なお、図1では、ボルト12のそれぞれ外側に設けられるころ軸受40を一つとしたが、ころ軸受40の数はこれに限定されず、少なくとも一つ以上とし、二つであってもよい。
図3に示すように、ガイドベース20の両側面間の幅寸法をW、径方向の高さ寸法をHとしたとき、H>Wの関係を持たせることにより、H<Wとされたガイドベースに比較してガイドベース20の剛性を高めることができるため、ガイドベース20の撓みをより効果的に抑制することができる。

Claims (5)
- トルク伝達用チェーンの移動方向に沿って設けられた曲線状のガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数の回転可能なローラを有し、前記ガイドベースの一端部を支持する支点軸を中心にしてガイドベースを揺動自在に支持し、そのガイドベースの揺動側端部にチェーンテンショナの調整力を負荷して複数のローラのそれぞれでチェーンを押圧して転がり案内するチェーンガイドにおいて、
前記ガイドベースの揺動中心となる支点軸を、ガイドベースの揺動中心側の端部に位置するローラからガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置に配置して、その支点軸より外側にローラを設けたことを特徴とするチェーンガイド。 - 前記チェーンテンショナによる調整力の負荷位置を、ガイドベースの揺動側の端部に位置するローラよりガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置として、前記調整力負荷位置の外側にローラを設けた請求項1に記載のチェーンガイド。
- トルク伝達用チェーンの移動方向に沿って設けられた曲線状のガイドベースと、そのガイドベースの長さ方向に間隔をおいて設けられた複数の回転可能なローラを有し、前記ガイドベースの両端部を支持して複数のローラのそれぞれでチェーンを転がり案内するチェーンガイドにおいて、
前記ガイドベースの両端部を支持する支持部の少なくとも一方の支持部を、その支持部側の端部に位置するローラよりガイドベースの長さ方向中央部に片寄った位置に配置して、支持部の外側にローラを設けたことを特徴とするチェーンガイド。 - 前記ガイドベースの両側面間の幅寸法をW、径方向の高さ寸法をHとしたとき、H>Wとした請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載のチェーンガイド。
- 駆動スプロケットと従動スプロケット間にタイミングチェーンを掛け渡し、そのタイミングチェーンの弛み側チェーンの一側部に、タイミングチェーンの移動を案内する揺動可能なチェーンガイドを設けたチェーン伝動装置において、
前記チェーンガイドが、請求項1又は2に記載のチェーンガイドからなることを特徴とするチェーン伝動装置。
