図1は、実施の形態1に係る表示装置の外観を略示する斜視図である。図示の表示装置は、矩形板状をなす画像表示用の液晶パネル(表示パネル)1と、該液晶パネル1に光を照射するバックライト装置2とを備えている。
図5は実施の形態2に係るバックライト装置2の要部を示す断面図であり、バックライト装置2の光源210側と相対する側の構成を示してある。以下、特に説明する構成、作用以外の構成及び作用は実施の形態1と同等であり、簡潔のため記載を省略する。
また、以上の実施の形態では、枠体25は、4辺が一体的に構成されていてもよく、辺ごとに別体に形成され、各辺の端部を連接することにより構成されてもよい。

- 光源と、該光源の光が側面に入射され、一面から光を出射する導光板と、該導光板の周縁部及び前記光源を囲う枠体と、前記一面の側に配置された光学シートとを備えるバックライト装置において、
前記枠体は、光源側で前記一面の周縁部を覆う第一覆部を備え、
前記光学シートは、前記光源側で前記第一覆部上に配置され、前記光源が配置されていない側で、少なくとも一部が前記一面上に配置されている
