Abstract

【課題】 有機エレクトロルミネッセンス表示装置において、コントラストを向上させ、かつ、色の表示性を高めることができる偏光素子又は偏光板に関するものである。 【解決手段】 アゾ化合物を含有した偏光機能を有する基材を、該基材の単体での透過率が４５％乃至６０％であって、基材１枚の４４０ｎｍ乃至５００ｎｍの平均透過率が、５０％以上であり、基材２枚を吸収軸方向に対して直交にして測定して得られる５５０ｎｍ乃至６５０ｎｍの平均透過率が、１０％以下であるように制御する。
