Description

すなわち、コンバイナは、この前方の景色に、表示する虚像を重ねて見るようにするため、透明な材料から形成されて略四角形に形成されている。この四角形の外周縁部となる側部は表面および背面に対して直角をなし、ある程度の厚みを有している。
この場合、コンバイナの外周縁部で屈折方向が急激に変化するため、運転者がコンバイナを通して見た車両前方の景色とコンバイナを通さずに見た車両前方の景色とが、コンバイナの外周縁部で断絶した状態でずれてしまい、運転者にとって非常に見づらくなる。
同様に、車両前方のボンネット103の先端部も、コンバイナ100の外周縁部で断絶的にずれてしまう。なお、図8中にはインストルメントパネル104が、また図9中にはステアリングホイール102の一部がそれぞれ見える。また、コンバイナ100により見える情報の表示像はその図示を省略してある。
本発明は、上記問題に着目してなされたもので、その目的とするところは、コンバイナを用いる場合に、コンバイナの外周縁部でのずれの断絶を減少させて、車両前方の景色がより見やすく、かつ、より認識し易くなるようにした車両用表示装置を提供することにある。
表示情報を投影可能な表示器と、
表示器で投影された表示情報を拡大反射して車両前方側に結像させてこの結像による虚像と透かして見える車両前方の景色とを同時に見せるコンバイナと、
を備えた車両用表示装置において、
コンバイナの端部の厚みを、コンバイナの縁に近づくにつれて徐々に薄くなるようにした、
ことを特徴とする。
同図に示すように、実施例1の車両用表示装置では、透明な材料で形成されたコンバイナ1が、車両前方のウインドシールド2の車室内側で、運転者の前方に図示しない支持部材で支持されている。
一方、ウインドシールド2の下方のインストルメントパネル3の内部には、運転者への車両情報などの情報を表示可能な表示器4が配置される。表示器4の表示面は、コンバイナ1に向けられている。これにより、表示器4は、その表示情報(映像)をインストルメントパネル3の開口3aを通してコンバイナ1に投影可能とされている。
すなわち、外周縁部の側壁1aは、両端側とも、図3の(a)に示すように車室側の面がテーパ面1aにされるか、図3の(b)に示すように車両前方側の面がテーパ面1bにされるか、あるいは図3の(c)に示すように車両前方側の面がテーパ面1cに、かつ車室側の面がテーパ面1dに形成されて、屈折による前方の景色のずれ量が徐々に変化するようにしてある。
なお、図2で示すように、運転者はステアリングホイール5やボンネット7等が見える他、下記のように像や車両外側の景色を見ることができる。
また、図2では、コンバイナ1による表示像は図示を省略しているが、表示時には、コンバイナ1より車両前方の位置に表示器4の表示情報の映像が結像される結果、運転者はコンバイナ1の車両前方側に表示像を見ることができる。
また、コンバイナ1は、透明であるから運転者は、上記表示像と同時に車両前方の景色を、コンバイナ1を通して見ることができ、さらにコンバイナ1の外側にコンバイナ1を通さずにウインドシールド2を通して車両前方の景色を見ることができる。
なお、コンバイナ1の両端縁部側(テーパ面1a)では、縁に近づくにしたがって、コンバイナ1のフラットな面を通して見える停止線L2の左右端が、コンバイナ1を通さずに見える停止線L1のコンバイナ1の左右両端の外側部分に向かって、上下方向のずれが次第に小さくなるように連続して変化する停止線L3となって見える。
ここでは、停止線の見え方について説明したが、車両前方の景色全般の見え方についても同様である。
また、図3の(b)、図3の(c)に示した形状のコンバイナ1を用いても、上記同様の効果を得ることができる。
実施例1の車両用装置は、コンバイナ1の両端部の厚みを、コンバイナ1の縁に近づくにつれて徐々に薄くなるようにした。これにより、車両前方の景色はコンバイナ1を通して見える景色と、コンバイナ1を通さないで見える車両前方の景色とが、両者間でずれて、また前者が拡大されて見えてもコンバイナ1の両端縁部では連続あるいは連続に近い状態で接続される。よって、車外の水平方向成分のずれが断絶することはなく、かつ大きさも徐々に変化して行くいずれの側でも一致するようになる。
したがって、運転者は、コンバイナ1で車両前方の景色にずれや大きさの変化が生じても、見やすく、かつ連続により同じものであると早期かつ確実に車両前方の景色を認識することができる。
また、テーパ面1c、1dをコンバイナ1の両面に設けると、接続がスムーズになってずれによる違和感がさらに減少する。
実施例2では、コンバイナ1の一面側だけに設けたテーパ面(図3の(a)、(b)のもの)の縁部分を、図4の(a)に示すように、さらに傾斜を大きくして短い第2のテーパ面1eをテーパ面1aあるいはテーパ面1bに連続させる。あるいは、コンバイナ1の両面側に設けたテーパ面(図3の(c)のもの)の縁部分を、図4の(b)に示すように、短い平面1fで接続した。
なお、図4では、一方の端部側のみを図示したが、他方の端部側も同様である。
上記のようにしても、テーパ面1eおよび平面1fは非常に短いので、ずれの断絶を非常に小さくすることができる。
したがって、この場合にも、実施例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。
また、コンバイナ1の縁が厚さゼロとならないので、先端が鋭利になってしまうことで折れやすくなることを避けることができる。
実施例3では、実施例1でコンバイナ1の一面側だけに設けたテーパ面(図3の(a)、(b)のもの)の代わりに、図5の(a)~(d)に示すように、それぞれ凸凹方向が異なる波状の曲面部分のいずれかで連続接続させる。
なお、図5では、一方の端部側のみを図示したが、他方の端部側も同様である。
このようにしても、実施例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。
実施例4では、実施例1でコンバイナ1の一面側だけに設けたテーパ面(図3の(a)、(b)のもの)の代わり、図6の(a)に示すような均一の階段状部分、あるいは図6の(b)に示すような不均一な階段状部分を用いる。
なお、図6では、一方の端部側のみを図示したが、他方の端部側も同様である。
ただし、コンバイナ1の両端縁部側では、階段状部分の効果により、停止線L2からコンバイナ1の両側縁に近づくにしたがって停止線L4の上下方向のずれが次第に小さくなって行き、縁では停止線L1とつながって見える。
したがって、この場合にも、実施例1と同様の効果を得ることができる。
また、コンバイナ1の両端縁部が階段状であるので、直線で厚さを薄くするときにプリズム効果で像が左右にずれるのをなくすことが可能となる。
また、コンバイナ1の車両前方側面および車室側面の少なくとも一方を、テーパ面、曲面、階段状面のいずれかで形成することにより、容易かつ安価に、上記ずれの断絶を改善することができる。

- 表示情報を投影可能な表示器と、
該表示器で投影された表示情報を拡大反射して車両前方側に結像させてこの結像による虚像と透かして見える車両前方の景色とを同時に見せるコンバイナと、
を備えた車両用表示装置において、
前記コンバイナの端部の厚みを、該コンバイナの縁に近づくにつれて徐々に薄くなるようにした、
ことを特徴とする車両用表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の車両用表示装置において、
前記コンバイナの左右端部の車両前方側面および車室側面の少なくとも一方が、テーパ面または曲面を有している、
ことを特徴とする車両用表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の車両用表示装置において、
前記コンバイナの左右端部の車両前方側面および車室側面の一方が、階段状面を有している、
ことを特徴とする車両用表示装置。
