Note that when the vehicle total number estimation calculation unit 54a calls the subroutine of FIG. 24, information on whether the vehicle has entered the up lane or the down lane is not essential, so the process of step ST705 is performed. It may not be performed.
- Step ST609 The vehicle total number estimation calculation unit 54a determines whether or not all segments have been selected. This vehicle total number estimation calculation part 54a repeats the process from step ST607, when not selecting all the segments. Note that all segments are all segments included in an area in which segment 4 is determined to be a sample area. In this embodiment, this area is segments 1 to 6 and the specimen area is segment 4. (Step ST610) On the other hand, when all the segments have been selected, the vehicle total number estimation calculation unit 54a uses the calculated number of vehicles of each segment and the ratio calculated by the vehicle ratio calculation unit 53 to install the vehicle-mounted device of each segment. A calculation is performed to estimate the total number of vehicles equipped with the vehicle and vehicles not equipped with the vehicle-mounted device.
- the number of vehicles in each segment is a value calculated by the vehicle ratio calculation unit 53. By dividing, a value for estimating the number of all vehicles in each segment can be calculated.
- the vehicle total number estimation calculation unit 54a outputs the estimated value of the number of all vehicles to the traffic information providing unit 58a, and the traffic information providing unit 58a transmits the value as it is to the in-vehicle device 7 as information indicating the degree of congestion. Based on this value, image information that provides a clear illustration of the crowded segment may be provided.
- the number of all vehicles is estimated in units of meshes having a certain area, whereas in the configuration of the second embodiment, all roads are divided into segment units. The number of vehicles is estimated. For this reason, according to the structure of 2nd Embodiment, it becomes possible to obtain
- the number of vehicles equipped with the vehicle-mounted device 7 in a limited range of one segment and all the vehicles that pass through the same information collecting device 3a Collect information on the number of cars.
- the center server device 9 is configured to use the information collected by the information collecting device 3a and use it for calculation to estimate the number of all vehicles in other segments. Therefore, it is not necessary to install a device for detecting these numbers in all segments, and the installation cost of the system can be suppressed.
- the on-board device mounting checkpoint for installing the information collecting device 3a is set to one place as in the first embodiment, but the ratio of all vehicles to the vehicle on which the onboard device is mounted is as follows.
- the information collection device 3a may be installed in a plurality of segments.
- the up lane of the segment 4 is targeted.
- two vehicle detection cameras 32 may be installed to obtain the ratio including the down lane of the segment 4 as a target.
- the processing in step Sd103 in the center server device 9 detects the vehicle 8 on which the vehicle-mounted devices 7 in the up lane and the down lane are mounted.
- a relatively short distance segment is set, and both the up lane and the down lane are photographed by one vehicle detection camera 32, and the number of vehicles traveling in each of the up lane and the down lane is determined from the photographed images.
- the ratio may be obtained by detection.
- the value of the number of vehicles equipped with the vehicle-mounted device at each point calculated by the vehicle-mounted device number detection unit 51a and the value of the number of all vehicles at each point calculated by the vehicle total number detection unit 52 are obtained.
- the respective total values may be calculated as in the first embodiment, and the ratio may be calculated based on these total values.
- the average value of the number of vehicles carrying onboard equipment and the average value of the number of all vehicles may be calculated, and a ratio may be calculated by these values. If there is variation at each point, the ratio may be calculated in consideration of weighting according to the distribution.
- the number of vehicles 8 carrying the onboard equipment 7 which passes the onboard equipment mounting checkpoint is calculated using the information memorize
- FIG. Thus, the costs of the wireless communication antenna 31 and the wireless communication unit 33 can be reduced compared to the first embodiment.
- the present invention is not limited to the embodiment.

Abstract
