Definitions
- German Offenlegungsschrift DE 101 48 960 A1 discloses a pressure limiting valve for gaseous media with a valve body which is provided with a valve body
- the valve body is substantially cylindrical and on the side facing the sealing seat has a suitable receptacle, by means of which an insert is arranged with a carrier element for an elastomer coating.
- a similar pressure relief valve with a valve body is known, which, at least partially, is formed by an elastomer plate.
- the object of the invention is to improve the performance of a poppet valve with a
- a seat valve with a closing element made of an elastomeric material in that the closing element made of the elastomeric material is combined with a supporting element which is formed from a supporting material which is not elastic or at least significantly less elastic than the elastomeric material, from which the closing element is formed. It has been found in investigations made within the scope of the present invention that in conventional seat valves it may happen that the closure element of the elastomeric material is prone to sticking. This means that the closing element of the seat valve remains stuck in its closed position. Under unfavorable conditions, this adhesive effect can be so great that a vacuum provided by a vacuum pump is insufficient to open the seat valve.
- the seat valve according to the invention is preferably associated with a wet-running and mechanically driven vacuum pump in a motor vehicle.
- the seat valve is assigned to the inlet side of the vacuum pump.
- One of the purposes of the poppet valve is to reduce unwanted oil entry into a connection line from the inlet side of the vacuum pump to a brake booster.
- the seat valve is preferably designed as a spring-plate valve.
- the combined with the support member closing element is a kind of plate.
- the elastomeric material may be a natural elastomer, such as rubber, or a synthetic elastomer.
- a preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that the support element has at least one contact surface, which comes into abutment in a closed position of the poppet valve on a valve housing surface on which the closing element in the closed position of the poppet valve comes to rest. In the closed position of the seat valve both the support element and the closing element come to the valve housing surface to the plant. According to one aspect of the invention, the size of the contact surface, with which the closing element comes to rest on the valve housing surface, compared to conventional seat valves is reduced. The closing element is supported in the closed position of the seat valve by the support element. In this case, the support element acts as a spacer between a main body of the closing element and the valve housing surface.
- a further preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that a contact surface with which the closing element in the closed position of the poppet valve sealingly abuts against the valve housing surface is reduced by the support element. Due to the supporting effect or spacing effect of the support element, the contact surface with which the closing element in the closed position of the seat valve sealingly comes to rest against the valve housing surface can be considerably reduced.
- a further preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that the support element is arranged in the closed position of the poppet valve as a spacer between a base body of the closing element of the elastomeric material and the valve housing surface.
- the main body of the closing element has substantially the shape of a circular disk.
- a further preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that from the main body of the closing element, an annular body extends, which surrounds the support element.
- the annular body is preferably integrally connected to the main body of the closing element.
- the annular body of the closing element preferably has a rectangular ring cross section.
- a further preferred embodiment of the seat valve is characterized in that the annular body of the closing element merges on its side facing away from the main body in a circumferential sealing lip.
- the main body, the annular body and the sealing lip of the closing element are preferably integrally connected to each other. By the sealing lip, the contact surface between the closing element and the valve housing surface can be reduced particularly advantageous.
- a further preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that the support element comprises a support body which bears against the base body of the closure element within the annular body.
- the support body preferably has the shape of a circular disk whose outer diameter corresponds to the inner diameter of the annular body of the closing element.
- the closing element can be supported in a simple manner in the closed position of the seat valve.
- the support body gives the closure element a significantly increased stability.
- a further preferred embodiment of the poppet valve is characterized in that from the support body of the support element emanates a support ring with which the support element comes into abutment in the closed position of the poppet valve on the valve housing surface.
- the support ring is preferably integrally connected to the support body of the support element.
- the support ring preferably has a rectangular ring cross-section. In the closed position of the seat valve, the support ring bears against the end face of the valve housing with a face remote from the support body of the support element. As a result, a stable support of the closing element is ensured by the support element.
- the support element is designed as an insert, which is encapsulated with the closing element of the elastomeric material.
- the support element is not completely encapsulated with the closing element.
- the support body facing away from the end face of the support ring and the radially disposed within the support ring surface of the support body is not encapsulated with the elastomeric material.
- the invention further relates to a vacuum pump with a seat valve described above.
- the vacuum pump is preferably designed as a wet-running vacuum pump and mechanically driven.
- the vacuum pump is designed, for example, as a vane pump.
- the vacuum pump is preferably used in a motor vehicle to generate a vacuum. The generated vacuum is applied, for example, to a brake booster.
- FIG. 1 shows a seat valve according to the invention in longitudinal section between a

- FIG. 3 shows an enlarged detail of the seat valve from FIG. 2.
- FIG. 1 shows a seat valve 1 with a valve housing 4 in longitudinal section. Outside of the valve housing 4, a fastening eye 5 is formed.
- the fastening eye 5 serves for fastening the poppet valve 1 to a support structure 6, for example a vacuum pump housing, preferably with the aid of a suitable screw.
- a through hole 8 extends from a first end 1 1 through the valve housing 4 to a second end 12.
- a brake booster 15 is connected to the first end of the valve housing 4 by means of a line 13.
- the first end 1 1 of the valve housing 4 is formed as a connecting piece 14.
- the second end 12 of the valve housing 4 is inserted directly into the housing of a vacuum pump, sealed with an O-ring 19 and secured to the mounting eye 5 by a screw or the like.
- the second end 12 of the valve housing 4 is formed as a connecting piece 18.
- the vacuum pump 20 is designed, for example, as a vane pump and mechanically driven.
- the vacuum pump 20 preferably serves to generate a vacuum in a vacuum chamber of the brake booster 15.
- the vacuum pump 20 is supplied in operation a lubricant medium, such as oil, in small quantities.
- the seat valve 1 is used on the inlet side of the vacuum pump 20 to reduce unwanted oil entry into the line 13 to the brake booster 15, and to maintain the vacuum in the brake booster as far as possible when the vacuum pump.
- the through-hole 8 extending through the valve housing 4 is, as can be seen in FIG. 2, subdivided into four longitudinal sections 21 to 24 with different inside diameters, some of which are not constant over the length.
- the longitudinal section 21 of the Through hole 8 tapers starting from the first end 1 1 of the valve housing 4 cone-like.
- the longitudinal section 22 has the smallest diameter of the through-hole 8.
- the longitudinal section 23 has a larger diameter than the longitudinal section 22. Between the two longitudinal sections 22 and 23, a shoulder 25 is formed.
- the paragraph 25 represents a valve housing surface, which is also referred to as a valve seat surface.
- the longitudinal section 24 has a larger diameter than the longitudinal section 23. Between the two longitudinal sections 23 and 24, a shoulder 26 is formed.
- the seat valve 1 is designed as a spring-plate valve.
