車両の走行燃費を向上させる方法として、惰性走行制御が知られている。この惰性走行制御は、車両が定常走行(定速走行)になったところで、クラッチを断とすると共にエンジンを停止状態として、車両を惰性で走行させるものである(例えば、特許文献1等参照)。
図6に惰性走行制御時の走行図を示す。
図6に示す惰性走行制御では、車速が上限車速VH(例えば、60km/h)に到達したときに、クラッチを断とすると共にエンジンを停止状態とする。通常走行(エンジン走行)であれば車両が車速一定(60km/h一定)で走行するところを、車両は惰性で走行する(惰性走行)。そうすると、車速が徐々に低下する。
図6に示す惰性走行制御では、惰性走行中に、車速が下限車速VLa(例えば、59km/h)に到達したときに、クラッチを接続すると共にエンジンを再始動させる。そして、車両をエンジンにより下限車速VLaから上限車速VHまで加速させる(加速走行)。
例えば、通常走行ならば、エンジン出力が常時1.3kWであるところ、図6に示す惰性走行制御であれば、エンジン出力は加速走行時のみ18.5kWである(2トントラックの場合の概算値)。通常走行(1.3kW)における燃料消費率は約400g/kWhであり、燃料消費は520g/hである〔1.3×400=520〕。それに対して、図6に示す惰性走行制御(18.5kW)における燃料消費率は約350g/kWhであり、燃料消費は約432g/hとなる〔18.5×350÷15=432:エンジンが運転されるのは15秒に一回なので燃料消費を15で割る〕。つまり、図6に示す惰性走行制御(18.5kW)における燃料消費は、通常走行(1.3kW)と比較すると、約17%向上する〔(520-432)÷520×100=16.9〕。
しかしながら、図6に示す惰性走行制御では、加速走行時のエンジン出力(エンジン負荷)がまだまだ低く、車両の走行燃費を向上させる余地はまだあるといえる。エンジンは、一般的に、エンジン出力が高いほど燃料消費率が低くなる傾向があるためである。
そこで、本発明の目的は、惰性走行制御時の車両の走行燃費をより向上させることにある。
上述の目的を達成するために、本発明に係る車両の惰性走行制御装置は、エンジンにより駆動される車両を下限車速到達後に前記エンジンにより上限車速まで加速させる加速走行と、前記上限車速到達後に前記エンジンを停止状態として前記車両を前記下限車速まで惰性で走行させる惰性走行とを交互に前記車両に繰り返し行わせる車両の惰性走行制御装置であって、前記エンジンに連結された電動発電機と、前記電動発電機に接続された蓄電装置と、前記加速走行中において、前記蓄電装置により前記電動発電機を回転駆動するモータアシスト制御と、前記蓄電装置を充電するために前記電動発電機を発電駆動させると共にエンジン出力を前記モータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御とを切り替えて行う制御手段とを備えるものである。
前記制御手段は、前記モータアシスト制御時のエンジン出力に対し、前記モータアシスト制御時のモータ出力と、前記電動発電機を発電作動させるのに必要なエンジン出力とを足し合わせた値を前記発電制御時のエンジン出力とするものであっても良い。
前記制御手段は、前記加速走行中において、前記下限車速と前記上限車速との間の中間車速に到達したときに、前記モータアシスト制御と前記発電制御とを切り替えるものであっても良い。
前記蓄電装置は、キャパシタを含むものであっても良い。
前記キャパシタは、電気二重層キャパシタ又はリチウムイオンキャパシタであっても良い。
本発明によれば、惰性走行制御時の車両の走行燃費をより向上させることができるという優れた効果を奏する。
以下、本発明の好適な実施形態を添付図面に基づいて詳述する。
図1に車両の惰性走行制御装置の概略構成図を示す。
図1に示すように、本実施形態に係る惰性走行制御装置10が用いられる車両1は、車両1に走行用駆動源として搭載されたディーゼルエンジン(以下、単にエンジンという)11と、エンジン11にクラッチ12を介して連結された変速機(トランスミッション)13と、エンジン11に連結された電動発電機14と、電動発電機14にインバータ15を介して電気的に接続された蓄電装置16と、これら機器類11~16を制御する電子制御ユニット(以下、ECUという)17と、変速機13に連結されたプロペラシャフト18と、プロペラシャフト18に連結された差動装置(デファレンシャルギヤ)19と、差動装置19に駆動軸20を介して接続された左右の駆動輪(タイヤ)21L、21Rと、車速(車両1の走行速度)を検出する車速センサ22とを備えている。
変速機13は、エンジン11と変速機13との間に介設されるクラッチ12を内蔵している。クラッチ12としては、例えば、電磁クラッチ等の自動クラッチを用いることができる。クラッチ12の断接制御は、ECU17から入力される指示信号に応じて図示しないクラッチアクチュエータが作動することにより行われる。
電動発電機14としては、例えば、インテグレーテッド・スタータ・ジェネレータ(ISG)又はモータ・ジェネレータ(MG)等を用いることができる。電動発電機14の回転軸14Sは、電動発電機用プーリ23、ベルト24及びクランクプーリ25を介してエンジン11のクランクシャフト11Sに連結されている。電動発電機14は、蓄電装置16に蓄電された直流電力がインバータ15によって交流電力に変換されて供給されることでモータ(電動機)として駆動される。また、電動発電機14は、エンジン11のクランクシャフト11Sと連動して回転されることでジェネレータ(発電機)として駆動される。なお、電動発電機14の回転軸14Sに、ECU17から入力される指示信号に応じて断接制御されるクラッチ(図示せず)を設けてもよい。
インバータ15は、ECU17から入力される指示信号に応じて、電動発電機14と蓄電装置16との間の電力を制御する。例えば、インバータ15は、電動発電機14をモータとして駆動させるときは、蓄電装置16に蓄電された直流電力を交流電力に変換して電動発電機14に供給する。また、インバータ15は、電動発電機14をジェネレータとして駆動させるときは、電動発電機14により発電された交流電力を直流電力に変換した後に蓄電装置16へ供給する。
蓄電装置16は、インバータ15に電気的に接続された蓄電池(バッテリ)26及びキャパシタ27を含む。蓄電池26とキャパシタ27とは、電気回路中に、互いに並列に配設される。蓄電池26としては、例えば、鉛蓄電池又はリチウムイオン蓄電池等を用いることができる。一方、キャパシタ27としては、例えば、電気二重層キャパシタ又はリチウムイオンキャパシタ等を用いることができる。なお、電気回路は基本的なもののみを図1に示しており、蓄電池26の充電監視回路等は図示省略している。
ECU17は、エンジン11やクラッチ12等、車両1に搭載された機器類の各種制御を行うものである。この各種制御を行うため、ECU17には、車速センサ22やエンジン回転数センサ(図示せず)、アクセルポジションセンサ(図示せず)等の各種センサの出力信号が入力される。
本実施形態のECU17は、車両1が定常走行(定速走行)になったところで、クラッチ12を断とすると共にエンジン11を停止状態として、車両1を惰性で走行させる。つまり、ECU17は、車両1が定常走行(定速走行)になったところで、惰性走行制御を開始する。この惰性走行制御は、車両1を下限車速VL到達後にエンジン11により上限車速VHまで加速させる加速走行と、上限車速VH到達後にクラッチ12を断とすると共にエンジン11を停止状態として車両1を下限車速VLまで惰性で走行させる惰性走行とを交互に車両1に繰り返し行わせるものである(図2参照)。
図2に本実施形態に係る惰性走行制御時の走行図を示す。なお、図6に示す走行図における車速及びエンジン出力と等値乃至同値であるものには図6と同一符号を付している。
図2に示す惰性走行制御では、ECU17は、車速が上限車速VH(例えば、60km/h)に到達したときに、クラッチ12を断とすると共にエンジン11を停止状態とする。通常走行(エンジン走行)であれば車両1が車速一定(例えば、60km/h一定)で走行するところを、車両1は惰性で走行する(惰性走行)。そうすると、車速が徐々に低下する。
図2に示す惰性走行制御では、ECU17は、惰性走行中に、車速が下限車速VL(例えば、58.9km/h)〔VL<VLa〕に到達したときに、クラッチ12を接続すると共にエンジン11を再始動させる。そして、ECU17は、車両1をエンジン11により下限車速VLから上限車速VHまで加速させる(加速走行)。
本実施形態では、ECU17は、加速走行中において、蓄電装置16により電動発電機14をモータとして駆動するモータアシスト制御と、蓄電装置16を充電するために電動発電機14をジェネレータとして駆動すると共にエンジン出力をモータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御とを切り替えて行うようになっている。ECU17は、例えば、加速走行中に、車速が下限車速VLと上限車速VHとの間の中間車速VM(例えば、59.45km/h)に到達したときに、モータアシスト制御と発電制御とを切り替える。つまり、図2に示す惰性走行制御では、下限車速VLと上限車速VHとの中間の車速を中間車速VMとしている〔(60+58.9)÷2=59.45〕。
モータアシスト制御時のエンジン出力ENは、図6に示す惰性走行制御におけるエンジン出力と同じエンジン出力(つまり、18.5kW)であり、モータアシスト制御時のモータ出力Mは、例えば、4kWであるとする。そのため、加速走行中で且つモータアシスト制御時には、車両1はエンジン出力ENとモータ出力Mとを合わせた出力EM(22.5kW)で加速する。
一方、発電制御時のエンジン出力EGは、モータアシスト制御時のエンジン出力EN(つまり、18.5kW)に対し、モータアシスト制御時のモータ出力M(つまり、4kW)と、電動発電機14を発電作動させるのに必要なエンジン出力G(例えば、4kW)とを足し合わせたエンジン出力(つまり、26.5kW)とする。そのため、加速走行中で且つ発電制御時には、車両1はエンジン出力EGから電動発電機14を発電作動させるのに必要なエンジン出力Gを差し引いたエンジン出力(22.5kW)で加速する。
モータアシスト制御時と発電制御時とで車両1の加速に寄与する出力が等しいため、加速走行中にモータアシスト制御と発電制御とを切り替えても、車両1は下限車速VLから上限車速VHまで加速度一定で加速する。また、下限車速VLと上限車速VHとの中間の車速を中間車速VMとしているので、モータアシスト制御を行う時間と発電制御を行う時間とは等しくなる。
図3にECU17による制御フローの一例を示す。本制御は、車両1が定常走行(定速走行)になったところでスタートする。
ステップS11では、ECU17は、クラッチ12を断とすると共にエンジン11を停止状態として、惰性走行を開始し、又は加速走行から惰性走行へと切り替える。
ステップS12では、ECU17は、惰性走行中に、車速センサ22の検出値(車速)が閾値である下限車速VLに達したか否かが判定される。車速が下限車速VL以下であればステップS13に進み、車速が下限車速VL以下でない場合は、再びステップS12の判定に戻される。
ステップS13では、ECU17は、クラッチ12を接続すると共に、エンジン11を再始動させる。つまり、ECU17は、惰性走行から加速走行へと切り替える。
ステップS14では、ECU17は、蓄電装置16により電動発電機14をモータとして駆動するモータアシスト制御を行う。
ステップS15では、ECU17は、加速走行中で且つモータアシスト制御時に、車速センサ22の検出値(車速)が閾値である中間車速VMに達したか否かが判定される。車速が中間車速VM以上であればステップS16に進み、車速が中間車速VM以上でない場合は、再びステップS15の判定に戻される。
ステップS16では、ECU17は、蓄電装置16を充電するために電動発電機14をジェネレータとして駆動させると共にエンジン出力をモータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御を行う。つまり、ECU17は、加速走行中において、モータアシスト制御から発電制御へと切り替える。
ステップS17では、ECU17は、加速走行中で且つ発電制御時に、車速センサ22の検出値(車速)が閾値である上限車速VHに達したか否かが判定される。車速が上限車速VH以上であれば本制御をリターンし、車速が上限車速VH以上でない場合は、再びステップS17の判定に戻される。
その後、ステップS11~S17の制御フローは、車両1が定常走行である間は繰り返し行われる。
次に、本実施形態に係る惰性走行制御装置10の作用効果を説明する。
本実施形態では、ECU17は、加速走行中において、蓄電装置16により電動発電機14をモータとして駆動するモータアシスト制御と、蓄電装置16を充電するために電動発電機14をジェネレータとして駆動すると共にエンジン出力をモータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御とを切り替えて行うようになっている。
モータアシスト制御のサイクルではモータからのアシストもあり、発電制御のサイクルではエンジン出力が増加されるため、図6に示す惰性走行制御よりも車速が下がっても、モータアシスト制御のサイクルでは、車両1はエンジン出力ENとモータ出力Mとを合わせた出力(22.5kW)で加速し、一方、発電制御のサイクルでは、車両1はエンジン出力EGから電動発電機14を発電作動させるのに必要なエンジン出力Gを差し引いたエンジン出力(22.5kW)で加速し、早期に上限車速VHに復帰できる。結局のところ、図2に示す惰性走行制御は、図6に示す惰性走行制御と比較して、エンジン11の停止時間(惰性走行を行う時間)を3秒長くすることができると共に、加速走行時のエンジン出力(エンジン負荷)を時間平均で4kW高くすることができる。
例えば、通常走行ならば、エンジン出力が常時1.3kWであるところ、図2に示す惰性走行制御であれば、エンジン出力は加速走行時のみ平均22.5kW〔(18.5+26.5)÷2=22.5〕である(2トントラックの場合の概算値)。通常走行(1.3kW)における燃料消費率は約400g/kWhであり、燃料消費は520g/hである〔1.3×400=520〕。それに対して、図2に示す惰性走行制御では、エンジン出力が22.5kWなので燃料消費率は約300g/kWhと低くなり、エンジン11の停止時間が延びることも合わせ、燃料消費は約375g/hとなる〔22.5×300÷18=375:エンジン11が運転されるのは18秒に一回なので燃料消費を18で割る〕。つまり、図2に示す惰性走行制御(22.5kW)における燃料消費は、通常走行(1.3kW)と比較すると、約28%も向上する〔(520-375)÷520×100=27.9〕。
また、図2に示す惰性走行制御(22.5kW)における燃料消費は、図6に示す惰性走行制御(18.5kW)と比較すると、約13%向上する〔(432-375)÷432×100=13.2〕。
なお、本実施形態のようなモータアシスト制御及び発電制御を行わずとも、図6に示す惰性走行制御(18.5kW)においてエンジン11の停止時間を図2に示す惰性走行制御(22.5kW)と同等に増やすと燃料消費は向上するが、それでも燃料消費は図2に示す惰性走行制御よりも5%程度劣る。
また、本実施形態では、蓄電装置16は蓄電池26に比べて一般的に内部抵抗が低いキャパシタ27を含むので、キャパシタ27により大電力(4kW程度)を瞬間的に充電・放電することができる。そのため、瞬間的に大電力(4kW程度)を充電・放電するという観点からは、キャパシタ27は蓄電装置16に必須となる。
以上要するに、本実施形態により、加速走行時のエンジン出力(エンジン負荷)を高く設定することが可能となり、惰性走行制御時の車両1の走行燃費をより向上させることができる。
以上、本発明の好適な実施形態について説明したが、本発明は上述の実施形態には限定されず他の様々な実施形態を採ることが可能である。
例えば、上述の実施形態では、一回の加速走行中に、モータアシスト制御、発電制御の順に行ったが、これとは逆に、一回の加速走行中に、発電制御、モータアシスト制御の順に行っても良い(図4及び図5参照)。つまり、図4に示す惰性走行制御は、制御フローが図2に示す惰性走行制御に対してステップS14及びステップS16が異なる(図5参照)。図5に示されるように、ステップS14に代えて、ステップS24では、ECU17は、蓄電装置16を充電するために電動発電機14をジェネレータとして駆動させると共にエンジン出力をモータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御を行う。また、ステップS16に代えて、ステップS26では、ECU17は、蓄電装置16により電動発電機14をモータとして駆動するモータアシスト制御を行う。つまり、ステップS26では、ECU17は、モータアシスト制御を行うと共に、エンジン出力を発電制御時に対して減少させる制御も行う。
また、車両の運転席等に、惰性走行制御の実行可否を選択的に切り替えるメインスイッチ(惰性走行制御スイッチ)を設けても良い。つまり、当該メインスイッチを運転者が操作することで、惰性走行制御を行うか否かを選択することができる。
さらに、電動発電機14は、その回転軸14Sが電動発電機用プーリ23等を介してエンジン11のクランクシャフト11Sに連結されるものとして説明したが、これには限定はされない。例えば、電動発電機14は、クラッチ12と変速機13との間に介装されるものであっても良い。また、エンジン11は、ディーゼルエンジンに限られず、ガソリンエンジン等にも広く適用することが可能である。

Claims (5)
- エンジンにより駆動される車両を下限車速到達後に前記エンジンにより上限車速まで加速させる加速走行と、前記上限車速到達後に前記エンジンを停止状態として前記車両を前記下限車速まで惰性で走行させる惰性走行とを交互に前記車両に繰り返し行わせる車両の惰性走行制御装置であって、
前記エンジンに連結された電動発電機と、
前記電動発電機に接続された蓄電装置と、
前記加速走行中において、前記蓄電装置により前記電動発電機を回転駆動するモータアシスト制御と、前記蓄電装置を充電するために前記電動発電機を発電駆動させると共にエンジン出力を前記モータアシスト制御時よりも増加させる発電制御とを切り替えて行う制御手段とを備えることを特徴とする車両の惰性走行制御装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記モータアシスト制御時のエンジン出力に対し、前記モータアシスト制御時のモータ出力と、前記電動発電機を発電作動させるのに必要なエンジン出力とを足し合わせた値を前記発電制御時のエンジン出力とする請求項1に記載の車両の惰性走行制御装置。
- 前記制御手段は、前記加速走行中において、前記下限車速と前記上限車速との間の中間車速に到達したときに、前記モータアシスト制御と前記発電制御とを切り替える請求項1又は2に記載の車両の惰性走行制御装置。
- 前記蓄電装置は、キャパシタを含む請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の車両の惰性走行制御装置。
- 前記キャパシタは、電気二重層キャパシタ又はリチウムイオンキャパシタである請求項4に記載の車両の惰性走行制御装置。
