- the present invention relates to a battery case for a secondary battery having a novel structure, and more particularly, includes an accommodating part into which an electrode assembly may be embedded, and the accommodating part formed by the deformation of a sheet-like base material forms one or more accommodating parts. It relates to a battery case, characterized in that the edge and / or surface is deformed to form a stepped structure.
- Secondary batteries are widely used as a power source for mobile devices such as mobile phones, laptops and camcorders.
- the use of lithium secondary batteries is rapidly increasing due to the advantages of high operating voltage and high energy density per unit weight.
- the lithium secondary battery may be classified into a lithium ion battery, a lithium ion polymer battery, a lithium polymer battery, and the like according to the composition of the electrode and the electrolyte, and among them, the amount of leakage of the electrolyte is less likely, and the amount of the lithium ion polymer battery that is easy to manufacture is used. This is increasing.
- a lithium ion polymer battery (LiPB) is a structure in which an electrolyte solution is impregnated into an electrode assembly in which electrodes (anode and cathode) and a separator are heat-sealed, and is mainly used in a form in which the electrode assembly is sealed in a pouch type case of an aluminum laminate sheet.

- a plurality of positive electrode tabs 31 and a plurality of negative electrode tabs 32 are welded to the electrode leads 40 and 41, respectively.
- the secondary battery cell case 20 uses a rectangular parallelepiped punch corresponding to the housing 23 to press and deform a sheet-like base material, for example, an aluminum laminate sheet, to deform the storage part 23. It is produced by cutting the size of the lid in the longitudinal direction and the size corresponding to the gas pocket in the width direction.

- the vertical cross-sectional shape is made of a straight line on the side and bottom surface.
- the planar shape is a symmetrical square or rectangle
- the vertical cross-sectional shape is composed of a straight line on the side and bottom surface.
- the battery case of the present invention has one or more edges and / or surfaces deformed to form a stepped structure.
- the edge and / or the surface is deformed means that the inner circumferential surface of the housing is not symmetrical with respect to the center axis of the housing in a planar shape, and / or at least one of the side and bottom surfaces. It means that the vertical cross-sectional shape of is not made of a straight line.
- the base material may be, for example, a laminate sheet including a metal layer and a resin layer suitable for a pouch-type battery, and specifically, an upper layer of the first polymer resin, an intermediate layer of the barrier metal, and a lower layer of the second polymer resin.
- the first polymer resin layer may be specifically a heat sealable polymer resin, for example, an unstretched polypropylene resin.
- the barrier metal may be, for example, aluminum, and the second polymer resin may be a nylon resin, a polyethylene terephthalate resin, a polyethylene naphthalate resin, or the like as a resin having excellent weather resistance.
- the type of material is not limited to the above examples.
- the thickness of the base material to which the present invention is applied may be specifically within the range of 0.3 mm to 6 mm.

- the height of the n-th step may be 50 to 90% of the height of the n-th step. That is, the height of the second step may be 50 to 90% of the height of the first step, and the height of the third step may be 50 to 90% of the height of the second step.
- "there is a difference in height between each step” may mean that the elongation of the sheet-like base material forming the accommodating part is different in the process of forming each step.
- the thickness of the accommodating sidewall at the n-th step portion may be 90 to 99% of the thickness of the accommodating sidewall at the n-th step portion. That is, the thickness of the accommodating sidewall at the second step portion may be 90 to 99% of the thickness of the accommodating sidewall at the first step portion, and the thickness of the accommodating sidewall at the third step portion is the accommodating portion at the second step portion. It can be 90 to 99% of the thickness of the sidewalls. This, even if the housing includes a plurality of steps and is formed deep, since the thickness of the side wall of the housing is formed relatively constant, it can ensure the overall durability of the battery case.

- the second punch may be formed in a shape corresponding to the shape of the top and the middle of the die
- the third punch may be made in a shape corresponding to the shape of the top, middle, and bottom of the die.
- the battery case molding method has an effect of maximally preventing a shape where stress is concentrated at each corner of each step when the battery case is molded in a stepped structure including two or more steps. That is, in order to form a battery case having a stepped structure, when each side wall is formed in the accommodating part, one side wall is formed and then one side wall is formed, thereby minimizing stress applied while the base material is stretched. Can be. In addition, in order to further improve such effects, stress concentration may be further suppressed by forming corners forming the stepped structure of the punch in a round shape.

- the punch consists of two or more punches having different widths and heights
- the die has a stepped inner surface structure consisting of a step of a shape corresponding to each of the punches, and the receiving portion is punched. It can be formed while being transformed into a stepped structure by the die.
- the stepped structure of the accommodating portion may be formed by performing pressing by the widest punch among two or more punches, and then pressing the punches in order of relatively smaller widths, and having a relatively wide width. As the pressure is applied in the order of the smaller punches, the pressing depth can be smaller.
- the pressing depth by the n-th punch may be 60 to 90% of the pressing depth by the n-th punch.
- the thickness of the side wall of the accommodating portion may be relatively constant, thereby manufacturing a battery case having durability.
- the present invention also provides a battery case manufacturing apparatus for manufacturing the battery case.
