- MAC Media Access Control
- Physical layer signal processing includes channel coding / decoding (Channel Coding / Decoding), modulation / demodulation, spreading / de-spreading, resource mapping, and Inverse Fourier Transform ( This includes generation of OFDM symbol data (baseband OFDM signal) by IFFT.
- the REC uses a Radio Network Controller (Iub interface) to send and receive user data (user plane data) and control data (control plane data).
- RNC Radio Network Controller
- RE provides the mobile station with an air-air interface called Uu interface.

- REC provides connection to Evolved Packet Core (EPC) using the S1 interface for sending and receiving user data and control data.
- EPC Evolved Packet Core
- RE provides the mobile station with an air interface called LTE-Uu interface.
- the wireless base station division structure disclosed in Patent Literature 1 and Non-Patent Literature 1 is characterized in that the part that performs analog RF signal processing is separated as RE.
- This division structure makes it possible to flexibly and efficiently cope with the increase and change of functions implemented in the radio base station.
- this division structure facilitates coping with independent evolution of these two technologies by separating analog RF technology and digital baseband technology.
- CPRI Common Radio Interface
- the division structures disclosed in Patent Document 1 and Non-Patent Document 1 perform physical layer digital signal processing (transmission path coding, modulation, spreading, OFDM signal generation, etc.) in the REC. Transmission path encoding and spreading increase the redundancy of transmission data. Therefore, the transmission data string after the digital signal processing of the physical layer generally has a larger data amount than the transmission data string before this is performed. For this reason, the division structure disclosed in Patent Document 1 and Non-Patent Document 1 may press the line capacity between REC and RE due to future traffic increase. In order to cope with this, the inventor of the present application considered changing the baseband signal processing performed in the REC to be performed in the RE. As a result, compression of the line capacity between REC and RE can be suppressed. Also, when a plurality of REs are connected to one REC, the processing load of the REC can be reduced by performing baseband signal processing distributed among the REs.
- CoMP multipoint transmission / reception
- CoMP a plurality of cells or sectors cooperate to perform signal transmission / reception with one mobile station. Thereby, it is possible to improve Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and suppress inter-cell interference.
- SNR Signal to Noise Ratio
- the need to reduce REC-RE traffic and the need to realize cooperative control between multiple REs are in conflict with each other regarding the arrangement of baseband signal processing.
- baseband signal processing is fixedly performed in either REC or RE, even if one of these two needs can be achieved, it is difficult to achieve the other.
- there are similar conflicts with other needs such as the reduction of REC power consumption. For this reason, it is desirable that it is possible to appropriately select whether the REC or the RE performs at least a part of the baseband signal processing according to the needs to be achieved with priority.
- the present invention has been made based on the above-mentioned consideration by the inventors. - the signal processing handled by the BB units 11A and 11B may be only a part of the digital signal processing of the layer 2 and layer 1 (physical layer) to be performed on the user data.
- other baseband signal processing not performed by the BB unit 11A and the BB unit 11B is performed by another signal processing unit (not shown).
- BB-PHY units that perform baseband signal processing (eg transmission encoding / decoding and modulation / demodulation) related to the physical layer are arranged in both REC1A and RE1B, and either one is used alternatively. May be.
- the BB-PHY unit corresponds to the BB units 11A and 11B.
- a layer 2 unit that performs baseband signal processing (eg, RLC sublayer and MAC sublayer processing) related to layer 2 is arranged in REC 1A, and the layer 2 unit performs layer 2 processing related to a plurality of REs 1B in a concentrated manner. That's fine.
- baseband signal processing eg, RLC sublayer and MAC sublayer processing
- the bearer termination point may be selected based on the security level of the transmission path 40 between the REC 2A and the RE 2B. Specifically, the bearer is terminated at REC 2A when the security level of the transmission line 40 is relatively high, and the bearer is terminated at RE 2B when the security level of the transmission line 40 is relatively low.
- the case where the security level of the transmission line 40 is relatively high is, for example, when the transmission line 40 is a dedicated line of a communication carrier, or the transmission line 40 is laid in a site managed by the communication carrier. Is the case.
- the case where the security level of the transmission line 40 is relatively low is, for example, a case where the transmission line 40 is a general public line, or a case where the transmission line 40 is laid in a place that is not sufficiently managed. .
- the selection of the bearer termination point may be performed when the radio base station 2 is set up.
- the bearer termination point may be selected according to switching of the transmission path 40, for example, according to switching between the main transmission path and the backup transmission path.
- the controller 50 arranged in the radio base station 2 may switch the termination point according to each security level when the security levels of the main transmission path and the backup transmission path are different.
- the bearer termination point may be switched in accordance with an instruction from an external device (e.g. resource control device or OAM system) instead of the controller 50.
- an external device e.g. resource control device or OAM system
- the buffer 21 may be arranged so as to store a user data string subjected to data compression and encryption in layer 2.
- the user data sequence that has been subjected to data compression and encryption in layer 2 corresponds to PDCP Protocol Data Unit (PDU), that is, the radio bearer data that is the data sequence after the processing of PDCP sublayer.
- PDU PDCP Protocol Data Unit
- the buffer 21 may be arranged so as to store the user data sequence to which the segmentation / concatenation in the layer 2 and the addition of the layer 2 header are performed.
- the scheduler 20 needs to grasp the accumulation status of the buffer 21 during downlink dynamic scheduling. Therefore, dynamic scheduling can be easily performed by arranging the buffer 21 together with the scheduler 20 in the REC 2A. In addition, control data to be transferred between the internal interfaces 30 and 31 can be reduced.
- the REC 2A (internal interface 30) may selectively transmit the data selected by the scheduler 20 from the downlink user data held in the buffer 21 or the data string including the downlink user data.
- the radio base station 2 is configured to be able to select which of the BB units 11A and 11B is used. Therefore, in the same way as the radio base station 1, the radio base station 2 determines whether at least a part of the baseband signal processing is performed by the REC 2A or the RE 2B according to the needs to be achieved with priority among a plurality of needs. Can be appropriately selected.
- the radio base station 2 can improve the security of the transmission path 40 by using the bearer termination unit 10B and the BB unit 11B.
- the radio base station 2 can meet this need by using the bearer termination unit 10A and the BB unit 11A. I can respond.
- the REC 3A terminates the bearer even when the RE 3B BB unit 11B is used. Therefore, the header added to the encrypted bearer data (e.g. S1 bearer data) can be reduced. For this reason, compared with the case where bearer data is transmitted to RE3B, the amount of transfer data between REC3A and RE3B can be reduced.
- the header added to the encrypted bearer data e.g. S1 bearer data
- FIG. 5A and 5B show the functional arrangement in the radio base station 3 in detail regarding the downlink transmission of user data in E-UTRA.

- the functional arrangement shown in FIG. 5B corresponds to the case where the BB unit 11B of the RE 3B is used.
- OFDM symbol data baseband OFDM signal
- RE 3B user data is transferred from the REC 3A to the RE 3B.
- the HO control unit 51 receives the downlink user data related to the mobile station held in the buffer 21 or the user data when the mobile station communicating with the air interface hands over to another base station (target base station).
- the included data string is transferred to the target base station.
- User data transfer to the target base station is similar to a normal handover procedure. That is, the user data transfer to the target base station may be performed using an interface (e.g. X2 interface) that can be used between the base stations, or may be performed via an upper network.
- an interface e.g. X2 interface
- the REC 4A may be configured to perform PDCP sublayer processing (e.g. IP header compression, encryption) in the bearer termination unit 10.
- the BB units 11A and 11B may perform other baseband signal processing (i.e. RLC and MAC and sublayer processing, and BB-PHY processing) excluding the PDCP sublayer.
- the buffer 21 may store PDCP PDU for each mobile station, for each bearer, for each QoS class, or for each mobile station and for each QoS class.

- the main scheduler 20A instructs the secondary scheduler 20B to retransmit.
- the secondary scheduler 20B performs re-transmission according to the instruction of the primary scheduler 20A.
- the second scheduler 20D can perform dynamic scheduling regarding the mobile station connected to the RE 6B instead of the first scheduler 20C.
- the radio base station 6 is configured to be able to select whether dynamic scheduling related to a mobile station connected to the RE 6B is performed by the first scheduler 20C or the second scheduler 20D. The selection may be performed for each RE 6B, or may be performed for a plurality of REs 6B connected to the REC 6A.
- the first scheduler 20C performs dynamic scheduling
- the buffer 21A and the BB unit 11A of the REC 6A are used.

Abstract
