Definitions
- the present invention relates to a medical data processing apparatus that generates an MIP image (Maximum intensity projection) and a radiation tomography apparatus including the medical data processing apparatus.
- MIP image Maximum intensity projection
- radiation tomography apparatus including the medical data processing apparatus.
- Radiopharmaceutical in a subject with radiation.
- a radiation tomography apparatus for example, there is a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) apparatus that images the distribution of a radiopharmaceutical in a subject (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
- the data obtained with the PET apparatus is three-dimensional data in which the distribution intensity of the radiopharmaceutical is represented three-dimensionally.
- MIP imaging As a method for easily expressing this three-dimensional data as a two-dimensional image, there is MIP imaging.
- the generation of MIP images will be described.
- the three-dimensional data acquired by the PET apparatus includes a stereoscopic image of the subject.
- a certain plane F is considered for this stereoscopic image.
- a straight line N that penetrates the plane F vertically and penetrates the stereoscopic image V (see FIG. 10). Since the plane F is orthogonal to the paper surface in FIG. 10, it is drawn as if it were a straight line in FIG.
- a voxel is a structural unit of three-dimensional data corresponding to a pixel of a two-dimensional image.
- the highest brightness is defined as the maximum brightness of the straight line N.
- the MIP image is acquired by performing an operation of arranging the maximum luminance of the straight line N at the intersection Q between the straight line N and the plane F. That is, the MIP image is generated by continuing the selection and arrangement of the maximum luminance for a plurality of straight lines parallel to the straight line N passing through the plane F.
- the MIP image acquired in this way is an image in which a conspicuous structure in the stereoscopic image V is projected onto the plane F.
- the MIP image is used for diagnosis, it is possible to roughly know in which part of the subject the radiopharmaceutical is gathered. If there is a collection of radiopharmaceuticals inside the subject, high-luminance voxels are collected in a portion corresponding to this portion in the three-dimensional data. The MIP image is generated while collecting high luminance in such a voxel. Therefore, if the MIP image is diagnosed, it is possible to easily know the presence of a high-luminance portion in the three-dimensional data.
- the conventional configuration has the following problems. That is, according to the conventional configuration, there is a problem that the body surface of the subject hinders MIP image generation. Radiopharmaceuticals used in PET devices have the property of being easily collected on the skin (body surface) of the subject.
- the radiopharmaceutical is selected to be a compound that collects in cancer tissue. Therefore, the collection part of a radiopharmaceutical will be a part with high possibility of being a cancer tissue.
- radiopharmaceuticals also collect in normal tissues such as the body surface.
- radiopharmaceuticals are also collected on the body surface in the subject image in the three-dimensional data obtained by the PET apparatus.
- Diagnosis using a PET apparatus is aimed at knowing the presence of cancer tissue existing inside the body surface. Therefore, the radiopharmaceutical that collects on the body surface of the subject interferes with the diagnosis.
- the voxel corresponding to the body surface of the subject may have the maximum luminance on the straight line N.
- the body surface of the subject that is a normal tissue is projected on the MIP image, and the state of the distribution of the radiopharmaceutical inside the subject is concealed.
- Radiopharmaceuticals may be gathered inside the body surface at a concentration that is less than the concentration on the body surface.
- the conventional MIP image generation method such a collective part is not reflected in the MIP image. Since there is a possibility that the collection part of the radiopharmaceutical may be a cancer tissue, in the conventional method, there is a possibility that the cancer tissue is overlooked except for a skin cancer and a cancer reaching the skin.
- the present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide a medical data processing apparatus capable of generating a MIP image more suitable for diagnosis and a radiation tomography apparatus including the medical data processing apparatus. It is in.
- the medical data processing apparatus is a medical data processing apparatus that processes the three-dimensional spatial data output from the tomographic imaging apparatus, and the body surface of the stereoscopic image of the subject in the three-dimensional spatial data
- a body surface brightness adjusting means for adjusting the brightness of the body surface area, which is a portion corresponding to the above, and a maximum brightness projection image generating means for generating a maximum brightness projection image based on the brightness-adjusted three-dimensional spatial data.
- the surface brightness adjustment means reduces the brightness of the body surface area so that the maximum brightness projection image generation means selects the maximum brightness from a portion excluding the body surface area in the three-dimensional space data and generates an image. It is characterized by this.
- the luminance of the body surface region which is a portion corresponding to the body surface of the stereoscopic image of the subject in the three-dimensional space data, is adjusted. Since the brightness of the body surface area is lowered by adjustment, when generating the maximum brightness projection image (MIP image), the image is generated by selecting the maximum brightness from the portion excluding the body surface area. By doing so, the body surface of the subject is not reflected when generating the MIP image. Therefore, it is possible to acquire a MIP image excellent in visibility representing the inside of the subject.
- MIP image maximum brightness projection image
- the medical data processing apparatus includes a body surface specifying means for specifying a body surface region by performing contour extraction processing on the three-dimensional space data, and the body surface brightness adjusting means is specified by the body surface specifying means. It would be more desirable to operate on a given body surface area.
- the above-described configuration shows a more specific configuration of the medical data processing apparatus of the present invention. If the body surface area is specified by performing the contour extraction process on the three-dimensional space data as described above, the body surface area can be accurately obtained. Therefore, with such a configuration, it is possible to more reliably generate a MIP image with excellent visibility.
- the body surface specifying means determines whether the three-dimensional image of the subject and the subject in the three-dimensional spatial data are in accordance with whether the luminance of each voxel constituting the three-dimensional spatial data exceeds a threshold value. It is more desirable to operate by detecting the boundary with the void part that is not reflected.
- the above-described configuration shows a more specific configuration of the medical data processing apparatus of the present invention. If the body surface area is specified using the threshold value as described above, the body surface area can be accurately obtained. Therefore, with such a configuration, it is possible to more reliably generate a MIP image with excellent visibility.
- the radiation tomography apparatus includes a detector ring that detects radiation emitted from a subject, and a space that generates three-dimensional spatial data including the subject image based on the output of the detector ring.
- the body surface brightness adjustment means for adjusting the brightness of the body surface area, which is the portion corresponding to the body surface of the stereoscopic image of the subject in the 3D space data, and the brightness adjusted 3D space data
- a maximum brightness projection image generating means for generating a maximum brightness projection image, and the body surface brightness adjustment means reduces the brightness of the body surface area, so that the maximum brightness projection image generation means causes the body surface area in the three-dimensional space data to An image is generated by selecting the maximum luminance from the portion excluding the symbol.
- the above-described radiation tomography apparatus includes body surface specifying means for specifying a body surface region by performing contour extraction processing on the three-dimensional space data, and the body surface brightness adjusting means is specified by the body surface specifying means. It would be more desirable to operate on the body surface area.
- the body surface specifying means captures a stereoscopic image of the subject and the subject in the three-dimensional spatial data depending on whether the luminance of each voxel constituting the three-dimensional spatial data exceeds a threshold value. It is more desirable to operate by detecting the boundary with the empty part that is not included.
- radiation tomography can obtain a maximum brightness projection image accurately representing the inside of the subject without reflecting the body surface of the subject when generating the MIP image.
- a device can be provided.
- the brightness of the body surface area which is a portion corresponding to the body surface of the stereoscopic image of the subject in the three-dimensional space data, is adjusted. Since the brightness of the body surface area is reduced by adjustment, when generating the MIP image, the image is generated by selecting the maximum brightness from the portion excluding the body surface area. By doing so, the body surface of the subject is not reflected when generating the MIP image. Therefore, it is possible to acquire a MIP image excellent in visibility representing the inside of the subject.

- the spatial data D1 is three-dimensional matrix data that includes a stereoscopic image of the subject in a three-dimensional space.
- the spatial data D1 is data (for example, luminance) detected by the radiation tomography apparatus arranged in each voxel.
- the spatial data D1 is acquired in a state where the subject is introduced into the imaging visual field of the radiation tomography apparatus.
- the spatial data D1 is configured by arranging voxels in a rectangular parallelepiped space. The reason why the spatial data D1 defines a rectangular parallelepiped shape is that this is convenient for holding data.
- the space data D1 defining the rectangular parallelepiped shape includes the entire field of view range of the radiation tomography apparatus having a cylindrical shape.

- the shaded area on the breast B in FIG. 2 means the skin of the breast B. Skin corresponds to the body surface of the present invention.
- the spatial data D1 corresponds to three-dimensional reconstruction data at a stage before the radiation tomography apparatus generates a tomographic image.
- the body surface specifying unit 1 first generates a tomographic image P0 obtained by slicing the spatial data D1 with a certain virtual plane. - the tomographic image P0 is decomposed into a plurality of profiles.
- FIG. 4 shows one of the profiles generated by the body surface specifying unit 1. Two peaks in FIG. 4 indicate portions corresponding to the skin (body surface) of the subject. Since the radiopharmaceutical has a property of gathering on the body surface, the luminance value at a position corresponding to the body surface in the profile is high.
- the body surface specifying unit 1 continues to acquire the luminance from one end of the profile to the other end, and specifies a position where the luminance exceeds the threshold value p. - the MIP image P1 will be described.
- the MIP (Maximum Intensity Projection) image is a two-dimensional image when the brightness correction space data D2 is projected onto a certain plane F as shown in FIG.
- the MIP image P1 is generated as follows. First, consider a plane F when the MIP image P1 is to be generated and a straight line N orthogonal thereto. Among the luminances indicated by the voxel data through which the straight line N passes, the luminance having the maximum luminance is selected and arranged at a position where the straight line N passes through the plane F.
- the maximum luminance is selected from any of the dotted lines in FIG. 8 where the straight line N crosses the three-dimensional image of the subject. If this operation is also performed for other positions on the plane F, the MIP image P1 in which the maximum luminance in each straight line is two-dimensionally arranged is acquired.
- the MIP image generation unit 3 When the MIP image generation unit 3 generates the MIP image P1, the luminance value at the position of the body surface of the subject image does not appear on the MIP image. This is because the luminance of the body surface of the subject is replaced with 0 in the luminance correction space data D2, and the body surface of the subject is erased from the data. Therefore, the MIP image P1 is an image in which an internal state is captured rather than the body surface.
- the body surface brightness adjustment unit 2 reduces the brightness of the body surface region R so that the MIP image generation unit 3 selects the maximum brightness from the portion excluding the body surface region R and generates the MIP image P1. You can also express that

- the display unit 25 is provided for the purpose of displaying the generated MIP image P1.
- the brightness of the body surface region R that is a portion corresponding to the body surface of the stereoscopic image of the subject in the spatial data D1 is adjusted. Since the luminance of the body surface region R is lowered by adjustment, when generating the maximum luminance projection image (MIP image P1), an image is generated by selecting the maximum luminance from the portion excluding the body surface region R. The By doing so, the body surface of the subject is not reflected when the MIP image P1 is generated. Therefore, it is possible to acquire the MIP image P1 with excellent visibility representing the inside of the subject.

- the opening of the gantry 11 is provided vertically upward, and the breast B is inserted into this opening from the vertically downward direction.
- the shielding plate 13 is made of tungsten, lead or the like (see FIG. 9). Since the radiopharmaceutical is also present in a portion other than the breast B of the subject M, an annihilation ⁇ -ray pair is also generated therefrom. When an annihilation gamma ray pair generated from a part other than such a region of interest enters the detector ring 12, it interferes with tomographic imaging. Therefore, a ring-shaped shielding plate 13 is provided so as to cover one end of the detector ring 12 on the side close to the subject M in the z direction.

Abstract
