なお、このケーシング2には上下に張り出したフランジ部が形成され、このフランジ部には貫通穴が形成されている。この貫通穴は、図示しないボルトを挿通させることによって、ケーシング2をエンジンヘッド(図示せず)等に取り付けるために用いられる。
この蓋体3には、前記ケーシング2の端部が嵌合するように周壁3bがフランジ状部3aの外周端に形成され、この周壁3bをケーシング2の収容部2Aの開口端外周部に嵌合させた状態でこれらの部材をレーザ光で溶着することにより、両部材が強固に結合固定されるようになっている。
なお、ラジエータ側冷却液流路2Bとエンジン側(ウォータポンプ側)冷却液流路2Dとは、ラジエータ側冷却液流路2Bが閉じられた状態にあるため、非連通状態になされる。
なお、図1、2に示すように、エンジン側(ウォータポンプ側)冷却液流路2Dの流路全体が開放されるものではなく、その一部が開放される。したがって、開放される冷却液流路2D面積は冷却液の流量を考慮して決定する必要がある。
そして、このような構成において、このセンサ取付部21の基端部と樹脂製蓋体3との間からの液漏れを防ぐためのOリング31とこれを係合保持するリテーナリング30とを設け、このリテーナリング30を、前記圧縮コイルばね4のばね受けとしても用いている。
すなわち、ケーシング2に対し、サーモエレメント10h、リターンスプリング4等を組込み、Oリング31、リテーナリング30を内方端側に組み付けた蓋体3を収容部2Aの開口部を閉じるように組み付けし、その勘合させる部分をレーザ光などで溶着固定することにより、これらの部材を一体的に組み立てた一つの部品として準備することができ、所要の通路開閉動作を行えることは容易に理解されよう。
たとえば本発明に係るサーモスタット装置1は、四輪車用のエンジンの他、広く二輪車用のエンジンの冷却システムに用いることができる。

Claims (6)
- 第1の冷却液流路と、第2の冷却液流路と、これら第1および第2の冷却液流路と連通するサーモスタット収容部とを有するケーシングと、前記サーモスタット収容部に連通する第3の冷却液流路を有すると共に、前記サーモスタット収容部を覆う蓋体と、前記サーモスタット収容部を流れる冷却液の温度変化に応じて進退するサーモエレメントを有するサーモスタットを備え、前記サーモエレメントで第1の冷却液流路を閉塞した場合には、第3の冷却液流路、第3の冷却液流路側のサーモスタット収容部、第2の冷却液流路が連通状態となり、前記サーモエレメントが第1の冷却液流路を開放した場合には、第1の冷却液流路側のサーモスタット収容部と第2の冷却液流路を連通状態となるように構成されているサーモスタット装置において、
前記サーモスタット収容部内に臨んで設けられ冷却液温度を検出する温度センサを備え、
この温度センサを内設したセンサ取付部を、前記蓋体の内方端に一体的に設けるとともに、該蓋体の外方端に前記温度センサから引き出されるリード接続部を一体的に設けたことを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。 - 請求項1記載のサーモスタット装置において、
前記センサ取付部内の温度センサは、前記サーモスタット収容部内において進退自在に設けられているサーモエレメントを付勢する圧縮コイルばねの内側に臨んで配置されることを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2記載のサーモスタット装置において、
前記センサ取付部は金属材で形成され、このセンサ取付部の先端を前記サーモスタット収納部内に臨ませた状態で、樹脂製蓋体の内方端に一体的に設けられるとともに、
このセンサ取付部の基端部と樹脂製蓋体との間からの液漏れを防ぐためのOリングとこれを係合保持するリテーナリングとを設け、
このリテーナリングを、前記圧縮コイルばねのばね受けとして用いたことを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2記載のサーモスタット装置において、
前記センサ取付部は合成樹脂材で形成され、このセンサ取付部の先端を前記サーモスタット収納部内に臨ませた状態で、樹脂製蓋体の内方端に一体に形成されるとともに、
このセンサ取付部の基端部外周部分にリテーナリングを設け、
このリテーナリングを、前記圧縮コイルばねのばね受けとして用いたことを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。 - 請求項3または請求項4記載のサーモスタット装置において、
前記蓋体は、そのフランジ状部の外周端部が前記ケーシングの端部の外周面と嵌合すると共に、前記蓋体の端部内周面とケーシングの上端部の外周面とがレーザ光により一体的に接合固定されるように構成されており、
このレーザ光による接合固定時に、前記蓋体のフランジ部において前記圧縮コイルばねが当接する部分に対応する外側面部分のほぼ同一径部分に治具を当接させるように構成したことを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。 - 請求項1ないし請求項5のいずれか1項に記載のサーモスタット装置において、
前記第1の冷却液流路はラジエータ側冷却液流路であり、
第2の冷却液流路はエンジン側冷却液流路であり、
第3の冷却液流路はバイパス側冷却液流路であることを特徴とするサーモスタット装置。
